Chapter 350 Resolve

Finn stood on the platform facing the twelve fighters before. These weren't some mindless monsters, but actually warriors from the factions that sided with King and his forces. Finn was alright with killing monsters and mindless creations of evil, but to kill beings that were capable of thinking and feeling was completely different. He was ok with injuring and knocking them out, but he was against killing them. Killing beings with actual feelings and minds went against Finn's hero morals. Sure he had killed some vampires, when he helped take Alister, but those beings had completely lost touch with their previous lives and lost their morals, making them into shadows of their former selves, unlike Marceline who considered herself a human at her core and had good morals. Finn needed to come up with some way to beat the twelve fighters before him without killing them. He decided to give diplomacy and words a shot. Finn put a brave and determined expression on his face and began to address the warriors.

"Warriors of King's forces lend me your ears. I don't know what Crimson said or promised to you to get you to come here and fight, but you should know he probably won't honor his part of the deal. I don't want to fight any of you. You can just walk away from this." Said Finn.

"No deal hero." Said the Puckerberry.

"We're getting a bunch of riches and help from Crimson to take down the Candy Kingdom once we destroy you." Said the cheese ninja as glared at Finn through his cheese wheel mask.

"You see Finn I fully intend to honor my part of the deal and help these fine individuals and their masters destroy the Candy Kingdom, once they kill you. They all hate and fear the Candy Kingdom, especially after what Bubblegum did to the Fire Kingdom." Said Crimson.

"Guys look, I get how you feel about Bubblegum, but she is going to be put on trial and punished for what she did to the Fire Kingdom. There's no need to attack the Candy Kingdom." Said Finn.

"A trial huh? I predict Bubblegum is just going to get a slap on the wrist and then she'll come after our people." Said the Puckerberry.

"Enough talk! I say we get to killing this dweeb and then we can get to destroying the Candy Kingdom!" Said the cutie.

The other warriors were in agreement and they all pulled out their weapons and surround Finn. Finn pulled out his sword and faced the warriors. He had no intention of killing any of the fighters, but he did intend to defend himself and knock all the fighters out. The Puckerberry attacked first with a wild yell and a spear thrust. Finn sidestepped the thrust and delivered a powerful chop to the side of his attacker's neck, knocking him out and causing him to fall forward and land right on top of the worm pinning it to the ground and knocking it out of the fight. The monkey ninja leaped at Finn with a flying karate kick. Finn ducked down and the monkey ended up hitting the puppet solider knocking them both to the ground. The cheese ninja began to hurl slices of sharp cheddar cheese, like ninja stars at Finn. One piece actually managed to cut Finn's left cheek, but he managed to deflect the rest. The cheese ninja pulled out a whip made of string cheese and whipped it at Finn wrapping it around his right arm. The spider fired a strand of webbing and wrapped it around Finn's left arm. The bear and the Pistachion closed in on Finn thinking they had him.

"It's all over for you hero." Said the Pistachion.

"No it's not!" Yelled Finn as he began to channel his Olympian Power.

Finn yanked hard on the whip and webbing on his arms and began to spin the cheese ninja and spider around, until he sent them crashing into the bear and Pistachion knocking them all to the ground. The rat, ant, and cutie leaped onto Finn's back and began to attack him. The ant attacked with a sword, the cutie attacked with a spear, and the rat attacked with it's teeth and claws. Finn yelled in pain and surprise, but with a few mighty swipes of his hands, he managed to knock the three attackers off and knock them out. The pterodactyl took flight and flew out Finn, who used his Olympian Power to leap high into the air and deliver a powerful punch to the dinosaur's face knocking it to the ground unconscious. Finn landed on the ground, only to get grabbed from behind by the bear. The Pistachion charged at Finn and the bear. Finn kicked both his legs up into the Pistachion's chest knocking the evil nut onto it's back and then Finn slammed the back of his head into the bear's face making him let go. The young hero whirled around to face the bear and delivered a few lite powered Olympian Power punches to the bear's face and gut knocking it to the ground unconscious. The monkey ninja charged at Finn from behind that knocked him to the ground, but he quickly hopped to his feet and deflected a sword swing from the puppet solider. Finn then smashed the hilt of his sword into the puppet solider's knocking him out and causing him to fall right on the spider knocking it out of the fight as well. The cheese ninja, monkey ninja, and the Pistachion charged and they each got an Olympian Powered punch to the face that knocked them all out. All the fighters had been defeated.

"I won. Now release Billy." Said Finn turning to face Crimson.

"Most impressive, but you see you have to kill those fighters to save Billy. I'm afraid you have to start all over again." Said Crimson as he began to throw glowing blue orbs of energy at the down fighters.

The orbs struck the fighters and vanished into their bodies. The fighters stood up completely healed and ready to fight some more.

"No way." Said Finn taking a step back.

"You can't get out of this by not killing. I'll just revive them again and again, until either you die or you kill them." Said Crimson as the warriors surrounded Finn again.

"Finn I know your afraid and you have a principle about killing beings that are capable of feeling and thinking, but there comes a time, when we are confronted by beings like that and we have no choice, but to the destroy them to save the lives of many." Said Billy.

"Quit you." Said Crimson as he snapped his fingers and a gag appeared on Billy's mouth.

Finn was stuck about what to do, when the warriors pounced on him and they all began to pound on him. The young hero fell to the ground and things started to go black. It was then Finn heard a very familiar and chilling voice.

"My how the young and mighty have fallen. The hero that caused me a good deal to me and my strong righthand man is going to die at the hands of minions of lesser beings, just because you refuse to kill them, even though you have the power to easily do so. How disappointing."

Finn's eyes went wide and a chill went down his back as he recognized the voice of the Lich. He didn't see the dark being, but it sounded like he was very close.

"The...Lich...!" Muttered Finn.

"Yes it is I! The Lich! The ceaseless wheel! Now you, your family, everyone will die, over and over. Mountains of broken bodies will litter this world and be beneath me. And there's nothing you can do to stop me, because you don't have the resolve to do what is necessary. You failed your family and everyone you ever cared about." Taunted the Lich.

Finn felt his blood boil at the words and he felt his Olympian Power coursing through his body. He wasn't going to die here and let the Lich have his way. With a mighty yell Finn threw all his attackers off of himself and began taking them out. Finn stabbed his sword through the Puckerberry's chest and yanked it out instantly killing the warrior. He stomped on the ant and worm crushing them to bits. The spider leaped at Finn, only to be sliced in half by his sword. The rat got kicked by Finn and was sent flying into the lava down below. Finn faced the bear and pterodactyl who charged at him. The hero delivered a powerful punch to the bear sending it crashing into pterodactyl and the two of them fell off the platform and into the lava below. Finn kicked the cutie into the lava and a stab into the monkey ninja's chest killing it. The cheese ninja and Pistachion charged at Finn, only to get their heads sliced off by by him. The heads hit the ground and rolled a couple of feet and stopped, as the bodies collapsed to the ground. All the warriors were dead. Finn turned to Crimson, who was clapping for him.

"Bravo! Bravo! I didn't think you had it in you, but boy was I wrong. You passed the challenge." Said Crimson as he snapped his fingers.

Billy was placed onto the platform and the chains and gag vanished. Finn just stared down at the dead warriors with a sad look in his eyes and he was breathing hard. He was shocked and shaken at what he had done. Crimson snapped his fingers agin and a opening opened up behind him and he ran through it. Billy looked over at Finn and put a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"Hey, it's ok. They left you no choice. You had to do it. It was self defense and you ended saving my life and countless others. You did the right thing Finn." Assured Billy.

"Ok. Let's...get moving and bag this creep." Said Finn still a bit shaken, but determined to capture Crimson.

Finn moved on through the new opening. A evil grin spread across Billy's face and his eyes glowed neon green for a few seconds before they went back to their normal color and Billy stopped grinning and followed Finn. Back on the platform the bodies of the warriors began to melt into puddles of grey and white goo.

At the secret lair, Sylvester watched this all happen on a monitor and took some notes on a computer. The warriors had actually been clones created by HIVE and they had preformed excellently. Sylvester went about checking data and other projects as he turned the monitor off.

Finn had passed another challenge, but there were more terrors awaiting him to face.
