Everything slotted together like puzzle pieces. Eden had approved the center for student volunteers right away and submitted Dominic's paperwork without him having to look at a form. The organizer was touched by Loid's willingness to take on another service project to cheer up his friend. Loid was too amused by how much they got right to correct them.

Yor would go afterschool to visit Camilla which just happened to be the same day that Loid and Dominic would be volunteering. What a funny coincidence. Yor would request to spend time with Camilla in the pool where Dominic would be volunteering as a lifeguard. Yor would lose an earring and slip out to the garden which the pool looks out onto where Loid would be waiting, having slipped away from running errands for the psychiatry team.

The only obstacle left was Dominic himself who they hadn't asked yet.

Loid ran into Dominic next in the locker room before gym. The boy was crying as he held his school shoes.

"Hey, buddy," Loid said in as soft and even of a tone as he could. "What's wrong?"

"Camilla tripped over these shoes a lot last year. She called me a big clumsy oaf. That was the first time I'd held her was when she tripped over them in the courtyard last spring." He sobbed.

'Oh boy.' Loid gave him a moment to cry it out. "That is hard. Say what are you doing after school?"

Dominic weakly shrugged as he put his shoes in his locker. "Sitting in a dark room probably."

It was much, much worse than Loid had thought. "I'm starting another volunteering project today. Do you want to come?"

He shrugged again.

"It'll be good for you to get out of the house for a little bit and go somewhere that isn't school."

Dominic opened his mouth like he was going to refute the implication, but he closed it. "You're probably right. Thanks for looking out for me, buddy."

"Yor?" Camilla said as she saw the girl enter her room in the rehab center. Perhaps they could trick the other patients with their expensive wallpaper and carpet and equally luxurious furnishings, but Camilla Bronson knew a prison cell when she was locked inside one.

Yor put on a timid smile. "It's nice to see you, Camilla. Do you mind terribly if I spend an hour with you today?"

'Why the hell would she want to spend a second with me of her own volition after everything I've done to her?' Camilla eyed Yor suspiciously, "Why are you really here?"

"I thought you might be lonely."

"And why is that your problem?"

"Camilla, I'm just trying to help you. Sometimes people do nice things for others without wanting anything from them."

"Not in my life."

Yor frowned and her doll-like eyes got watery.

Camilla found the experience of watching Yor rather akin to watching a puppy. She hmphed.

"This is a first, then. Let's make it a good one. How about we have a swim?"

Camilla found herself being dragged out of her cell and pulled along to the pool.

Elsewhere in the facility, Loid finished a paperwork delivery to the nutrition team and took a detour to the garden while Dominic got himself settled on the lifeguard tower. Dominic smiled to himself. 'I'm glad I still have up to date lifeguard and CPR certification. It is nice to get out and help others.'

Through the window, Loid watched Yor and Camilla enter the pool from the locker rooms. They weren't two steps out when Yor stopped and reached for her ear. She gasped. "Oh, no! I lost my earring. I have to go find it. Loid gave it to me."

'That's not true, but it is a good idea for a gift. Maybe for our anniversary,' he thought.

Dominic's attention was drawn to the noise, and he began automatically climbing down the tower toward Camilla. Yor took the chance to slip out and met Loid in the garden much more quickly than he expected.

Camilla turned to see Dominic approaching. 'Shit,' she thought. She scrambled toward the exit of the pool, but halfway around the long edge, she slipped and fell into the pool hitting her head on the edge on the way in.

Dominic was jumping in to grab her before she finished falling. He had her out of the pool and in his arms in record time. He called out for someone to bring a doctor. He took her pulse and checked her breathing rate. Everything was normal except that she was not conscious.

She slowly opened her eyes later finding herself in Dominic's arms and her usual doctor leaning over her. The doctor flashed a penlight in her eyes and asked her to say her name, age, and the year before concluding that she did not have a concussion. Her doctor hurried off to see another patient.

Camilla tried to push herself away from Dominic's arms, but she was still a bit dizzy.

"Careful," he whispered helping her slowly stand.

"What happened?" she asked.

"While you were running away from me, you slipped and hit your head on the edge of the pool. I pulled you out and waited with you until you came back to us just now."

"Oh. How long was that?"

"Seven minutes and sixteen seconds."

"And I wasn't running away from you."

"Really?" He crossed his arms over his chest.

"I forgot something in my room."

"Right, so you hurried to leave in your swimsuit?" He pointed down at it.

Camilla followed his finger down to the blue and gold one piece that she forgot she was still wearing until just now. "What are you even doing here anyways?"

"I'm a volunteer lifeguard."

"You're too busy with rugby and the paper to take on volunteer project."

"It wasn't too bad especially since Forger did most of the work setting it up."

'Forger. I walked right into a setup. No wonder Yor came to see me today.' She looked around for Yor and Loid and saw them peering over a bush in the garden. She wiggled her fingers in a delicate wave at the pair. Dominic turned to see the pair waving sheepishly back before they turned away to give them some privacy.

"We've been set up," Dominic said.

"It would appear so, yes."

"Camilla, it's good to see you even if it was just to save your life."

"I missed you too. How's school?"

"Boring without you."

Camilla blushed. Dominic was the only person she knew who was so earnest.

"I think this is the part where you're supposed to thank me with a kiss."

"Dominic!"

"Well, you haven't said thank you yet."

"I'm not ready to kiss you. My care team doesn't think it's a good idea for me to be in a relationship right now."

Dominic raised an eyebrow. "You could just admit you're scared."

"I'm Camilla Bronson. I don't get scared."

He looked at her with a droopy expression. "We both know you wouldn't be here if that was true."

"That's unfair."

"What that I'm right or that I know you so well?"

"Both."

Dominic laughed. "Loving you for so many years had to come in handy eventually."

Camilla's eyes widened. 'Love. No one said anything about love.'

Dominic clocked the panic in her eyes. "I guess I should let you get back to you room for that important thing you left behind."

She looked down at her feet. "You'll be here next Wednesday?"

"Every Wednesday until the end of term."

She cautiously raised her eyes to meet his. "I suppose I'll have to make time to visit the pool on Wednesday."

"I'm looking forward to it. Though next time, try not to slip and nearly concuss yourself." He meant that genuinely. Seeing Camilla out like that scared him.

She laughed, her first since Monday. 'Gods, I don't deserve him.'

He smiled down at her. "And maybe wait to go until you find Yor. You seemed pretty dizzy before."

"Oh, I've found Yor." She nodded her head at the garden where Yor clad in Loid's sweater was laughing on top of Loid's back as he carried her piggyback. "I think she's busy."

'Thank you, Forger!' "Damn. Guess I'll have to walk you back to you room then."

"How selfless of you." She tried not to smile, but that was so difficult around Dominic.

He hurried over to grab a few towels for them and draped one around her shoulders when he returned.

Camilla did run into Yor in the locker room. "You sneaky minx."

"I don't know what you mean."

"Rather your boyfriend is conniving. I'd keep a close eye on him if I were you."

"Did you have a nice time with Dominic?"

Camilla turned away. "Go off with Forger already."

"I'll be back to see you next week, but maybe on Tuesday."

"Whatever." Camilla hurried to change and met Dominic outside the locker rooms with a bigger smile than most people thought she was capable of.
