Chapter 374 Beach Bonding 3

On the ocean floor Lapis and the little group that came along in her air bubble continued to move forward and explore, taking in all the sights. Phoebe was enjoying the scenery and despite her being a Fire Person and the ocean being deadly to someone like her, she could appreciate it's beauty as much as a non Fire Person could appreciate the beauty of the Fire Kingdom. Every place had it's own beauty and uniqueness in the world. Finn also appreciated the ocean and was glad he overcame his fear of it. He looked over at Phoebe and they smiled at one another as they held each other's hands, enjoying each other's company.
Rain was walking close by and trying to talk to Mabel. He told her about all his adventures under the sea and about all the sea creatures he had met over the years and though it appeared she was interested Mabel didn't say a word to Rain. Apparently she was still mad at Rain for his past connection to Crimson and believed the friendship they had was all a lie to get into the Ice Kingdom palace and spy on the people who lived there. Rain had repeatedly apologized and insisted that their friendship was real and he had cut off all ties with Crimson, but Mabel was still mad at him. He wanted to make things right with Mabel and began to formulate a plan. Rain knew that girls liked presents, especially jewelry. The ocean was full of clams that produced pearls and there were a bunch of old sunken wrecks that surly must have some kind of treasure aboard them that would make a nice gift for Mabel, surly then, she would forgive him and take him back. With a plan in mind Rain said a quick goodbye to everyone and stepped out of air bubble and into the open ocean. At first everyone was alarmed by this, but then Rain's legs turned into a dolphin tail and he began to swim away with no physical signs of having trouble breathing underwater. The group relaxed as they watched Rain swim off into the distance and continued on their way.
Gata watched Rain leave then, she stepped out of the air bubble and into the open ocean dressed in a one piece swimsuit. Finn, Phoebe, and Trucy looked over at Gata, but didn't show any signs of alarm as they saw how easily Gata was moving and breathing underwater. Seeing that Gata had fins and tentacles on her head it made sense that Gata could naturally breath underwater. Gata swam around a little bit and then she went right back into the air bubble to rejoin the others.
"Waters great." Said Gata.
"Good to hear." Said Finn.
Before anything else could be said there was a flash of light and the Sea Sorceress appeared in front of the group. She looked at the group with interest.
"Well this is an interesting sight. Quit an interesting group to see on the sea floor."
"You're the Sea Sorceress." Said Gata recognizing the great magical being.
"I am, glad you remember me. How have you been?" Said Sea Sorceress.
"I've been doing quit well. I just want to say thanks again for voting to not destroy me and help deal with the portal inside my body." Said Gata.
"You're very welcome. The Council exist to deal with magical crises and help those in need. Now then why don't I present your friends with a little gift, so they can have a more thrilling experience under the sea." Said Sea Sorceress.
"What kind of gift?" Asked Dipper.
Sea Sorceress waved her scepter and a large clamshell appeared in the center of the air bubble. The clam opened up to reveal a plate with blue cookies on it. The group gathered around the clam and studied the cookies.
"These are just a little treat I cooked up recently. I call them Coral Cookies and don't worry they aren't really made out of coral and they're perfectly safe to eat. Once you eat a cookie you'll have the ability to breath underwater for roughly three days." Explained Sea Sorceress.
Phoebe studied the cookies and then looked at the water outside the air bubble and then at Sea Sorceress. The magical being seemed to know what the princess was going to ask and so, she answered.
"I don't think the Coral Cookies will allow you to swim and function under the water like the others, due to your body being made out of fire. Allowing fire to exist and burn underwater is beyond the power of my cookies."
"That's ok. I understand." Said Phoebe with a nod.
Mabel was the first person to grab a cookie and eat it. She went over to the edge of the air bubble and carefully pocked her head out to see if the Coral Cookie actually worked. Mabel opened and closed her mouth a couple of times and was amazed to see that she could breath underwater just fine. She pulled her head back into the air bubble and spoke to the others.
"The cookies work!"
Dipper, Pacifica, Trucy, Mimi, Chi, Jeff, and Kai each took a Coral Cookie and ate it. Gata didn't eat one since she could breath underwater, Lapis and Peridot didn't eat any since neither of them did food or need oxygen, Phoebe didn't eat one since they wouldn't really help her underwater, and Finn didn't eat one since, he didn't want to abandon Phoebe. One by one the members of the party, who ate the Coral Cookies went outside the air bubble and were able to breath underwater. They each cheered in excitement and swam around exploring the surrounding area. Chi was excited about breathing underwater, she knew her father could do it, though she hadn't quit figured out how to do it herself, but Chi figured, she would eventually figure that ability out one day. Chi was also a bit surprised to see that her flaming eyebrows were still burning in the water and just simply chalked it up as a mix of the Coral Cookies and her powers and went about swimming and enjoying herself. Sea Sorceress smiled at the group having fun.
"Now you all have fun and enjoy yourselves. Also please respect the ocean and be on the lookout for predators. Enjoy the wonders of the ocean." Said Sea Sorceress before she vanished in a flash of light.
As the others enjoyed swimming around, Chi finally worked up the courage to approach Mimi and speak to her.
"Hey Mimi there's something I need to tell you." Said Chi.
Mimi looked at Chi ready to hear what she had to say. Chi at first didn't say anything and instead changed into a large black octopus and swam a few feet away from Mimi and began spraying ink. Mimi and all the others looked on in awe as the cloud of ink formed into the shape of a large heart. Chi turned back into her regular form and stood before the heart and looked right at Mimi.
"I love you Mimi! I loved you since the first day we met. You are my first true friend and the only one I love as much as my parent. You rescued me from that horrible snake monster and that inspired me to be a better person. I want to protect you from your father Mimi and the best way I can think of doing that is by having you come live with me. You will be under my father's protection and your father will never harm you ever again. I swear I will protect you and give you a happy life like you deserve. My love for you Mimi is infinite and I wish for us to get married. I want to be part of your world." Said Chi.
Mimi silently stared back at Chi with a stunned look on her face as her cheeks blushed a little red. Everyone else looked at Mim, then to Chi, then back to Mimi, and back to Chi. Chi looked at Mimi and the others and her confidence began to drain a little as she looked down and began to tap her fingers together.
"Ok maybe that whole get married thing was a bit too much to lay on you right now. We're both young and I really do care about you and I don't want to cause you any stress or see any harm come to you. So after the beach, why don't we go pack your things up and then you can come with me and my friends and we go live at my father's palace together. You can bring Jeff and any other friends you want with you. You can live the rest of your life in luxury and peace and we can see how a romantic relationship can go. It could lead to love, or we...can just be...friends. Whatever happens between us, I want it to be your choice. So what do you say?" Said Chi looking at Mimi.
Mimi was dealing with a tsunami of emotions in her head. She really did love Chi, but it was more of a love one would have for a best friend or sister, then a girlfriend or wife. Mimi supposed she could give a romantic relationship with Chi a shot to see if it went anywhere, but she didn't want to just up and leave her new home and friends. She also didn't want to just run and hide from her monster of a father for the rest of her life. Mimi appreciated what Chi was trying to do for her, but she needed to put an end to Him and avenge all the lives he destroyed. She couldn't do that in a palace surrounded by Aku and his forces living a luxury life. Aku and Him were allies and although Mimi was sure Chi could convince her father not to hand Mimi back over to Him, she doubted Aku or his forces would ever attack Him, no matter what Chi or Mimi said. As tempting as a life of glamour and luxury sounded, Mimi just couldn't turn her back and ignore the past and present fowl deeds of her father. Him needed to be taken down and justice needed to be served.
It was then the unsettling voice of Nega Mimi popped into Mimi's mind and it's opinion.
"What are you doing Mimi? Say yes to the love struck girl's offer!"
Mimi was a bit stunned to hear that vile voice. Nega Mimi continued on.
"Don't you see this is the first step to greatness. Chi is practically putty in your hands and she will do anything for you. She'll take us to her father's palace and with her and my help, will be running the place in no time. Then we can go take our new little army and pay good old dad a visit and take Him down and take his army as our own. Once we have those armies under our control we can go about conquering other words and universes. You will have your revenge and if you don't love Chi, we can just toss her aside after we gain control of Aku's forces. You can have legions of lovers. Men. Women. Whatever you want. It's perfect! Now take the offer like a good little girl."
An image of Mimi in her demon form sitting on a large throne, with a scantly clad Chi, Finn, and several other men and women of various races and ages sat around the throne ready to fill their queen's desires and fantasies, as a massive army went about conquering different universes flashed through Mimi's mind. For just a moment Mimi felt tempted to go through with Nega Mimi's plan, but then she realized that's exactly what the evil being wanted. Nega Mimi only cared about herself and all she wanted was power and to cause chaos and evil. Will Mimi wasn't going to let that happen and she wasn't going to let Nega Mimi take advantage of Chi and use her. Mimi looked at Chi, with sympathy in her eyes and spoke.
"I can't go."
"What?" Asked Chi looking a bit hurt and confused.
"What are you doing?!" Screamed Nega Mimi.
Mimi used her heat ray vision to write a bunch of words on the ground, since she didn't like saying too many words at once and because she doubted pens and paper wouldn't work underwater. Chi looked at the words and read them out loud.
"I appreciate what you're trying to do for me Chi, but I can't take your offer. I can't keep running and hiding from my father for the rest of my life. I have to confront him and make him pay for what he did. Your father and his forces won't attack my father, so I must do it with the aid of other heroes. There is also something really bad still stuck inside of me that I'm afraid would take advantage of you and your offer, to obtain great power and spread evil to other universes. I don't want to cause you or your friends and family any harm. You are very special to me Chi, but until I defeat my father and get rid of the thing inside of me, I'm afraid I can't live with you or love you the way you want or deserve. I'm truly sorry for that."
Everyone was a bit stunned by this. Mimi just looked sadly at Chi, who looked like she was dealing with her own tsunami of her emotions. Nega Mimi kept angrily screaming at Mimi, but she just ignored her. After several seconds of silence Chi finally spoke.
"I...need to go...be alone...and think about this."
Chi turned around and began to walk away. Kai quickly went over to Chi and vanished into her shadow, kind of like what Midna used to do with Link. Chi then began to sing sadly to herself.
Love's not real, I just wanna eat carbs
Pass the ice cream
A Ice Cream person who was walking by wearing a diving suit, looked at Chi with a bit of annoyance and sang back.
I am not a thing you can just use
To fill emotional voids with
Chi just mumbled a halfhearted apology and walked away into the distance.
(Author's Note: Yes I did use lyrics from Everything's Not Awesome from the Lego Movie 2. Don't worry folks things will be better and cheery in the next chapter.)
