Chapter 385 Size Matters

Mabel, Rain, Giffany, and Chicle left the Ice Kingdom and headed East, with Giffany leading the way. As they walked Chicle decided to start up a conversation with Mabel.
"So you have a close relationship with your brother and your grand uncles?"
"I do. I nearly do everything with Dipper and I enjoy doing stuff with my Grunkels." Said Mabel.
"You care about your brother, yet you're keeping the whole missing flashlight thing a secret from him." Said Chicle.
"I just don't want to worry him or get him mad at me, that's all. Dipper's one of the few things I have left from my old life before the war happened. We just need to get the flashlight back and everything will be fine." Said Mabel.
"If you say so." Said Chicle.
Rain decided to try changing the subject.
"So Chicle you're like a super scientist, kind of like your dad and your cousin." Said Rain.
"I guess that's true. I am pretty smart, but I'm different from my dad or my cousin." Said Chicle.
"How so?" Asked Giffany.
"Well for starters I don't have a huge ego like them and I'm not paranoid like them. You see way back during the years after the war had finished up there were a bunch of different new species and races rising up from the wreckage of the old world and one of those groups was my family and a few other candy people. We wandered the lands for quit some time, until we came across a good patch of land that we decided to call our own and we began to settle down. My dad at the time was the leader of our little band and he wanted to create a civilization like no other, unfortunately my cousin Bonnibel Bubblegum who was just a child at the time had her own ideas for our civilization and many of them clashed with my father's ideas and visions. We made slow progress creating a village due to my father and Bubblegum's ideas getting in the way of each other and constantly hindering each other's progress. Both of them had pretty big egos and neither of them was willing to listen to the other or make any compromises. Then one day my father came up with a way to do away with Bubblegum by using a special formula that would change her form and reduce her to a dumb and obedient servant and said he would eventually turn her back. My father got me and my mother to go along with his plan, but then he ended up poisoning us with his formula and turned me into a cookie and my mom into a piñata." Said Chicle with a bit of a shudder.
"That's horrible!" Said Mabel.
"It was. Bubblegum happened to be spying on us and witnessed the whole thing. My father saw her and tried to grab and inject her with a syringe full of his formula. He also succeeded, but the family butler a guy named Peppermint Butler came to Bubblegum's aid and rescued her. My father ended up being stabbed with the syringe and the serum turned him into a goofy punch bowl. Bubblegum looked upon us and decided to just leave us in our new forms as she took control of the Candy Kingdom. I was stuck as a cookie for nearly 800 hundred years, until my family and I were returned to our original forms." Said Chicle.
"What was it like being a cookie?" Asked Rain.
"It was a nightmare. I was aware of who I was and what was going on in the world around me, but I was unable to do anything. It was like my mind was stuck in a car and I had no control over it." Said Chicle.
"Yikes." Said Rain.
"So who do you dislike more? Your father or your cousin?" Asked Giffany.
"I suppose my father since he poisoned my mother and me in the first place. My cousin just simply abandoned us. You know a bunch of the bad things going on in Ooo and all the tension in the air is her fault. Bubblegum basically betrayed one of her friends, destroyed another kingdoms greatest weapons along with several of their buildings, and killed thousands of innocent people, simply because she was paranoid about them. Bubblegum made an absolute mess of things and her actions could lead to a war." Said Chicle.
"Can it be stopped? I don't want the rest of the people of Gravity Falls being brought to a land full of war." Said Mabel.
"Hopefully yes. My cousin is going on trial and hopefully a peaceful resolution can be reached." Said Chicle.
The four of them continued on walking in silence for a few minutes before Chicle spoke again.
"You know I'm kind of jealous of you and your family." Said Chicle looking at Mabel.
"How come?" Asked Mabel.
"Well you actually trust and care for each other. The only family I truly trust and care about is my mother. Everyone else in my family is a mess." Said Chicle.
"You ever think about trying to work things out with your cousin?" Asked Rain.
"It's complicated. I'm still mad at Bubblegum for abandoning me and my mom, plus there's that whole trial mess going on and I don't think it would be smart to get mixed into that mess. I might try to work things out with Bubblegum once the trial is over and things have cooled down."said Chicle.
"Sounds like a smart thing to do." Said Mabel.
"Yeah we just got to wait and see." Said Chicle.
The little group continued onwards.
A few miles away at Castle Lemongrab, Sir Slicer was in his private quarters looking through his sword collection as four knights stood a few feet away from him and patiently stood by and watched him. The four knights went by the names Shovel Knight, Black Knight, Shield Knight, and Insecto Knight. They were all highly skilled and members of the Other of No Quarter. Shovel Knight wore a blue piece of armor with shoulder pads, a plate, and a horned helmet. He had a round body and a short stature. Shovel Knight's weapon of choice was of course a shovel. Black Knight was clad in bulky, black obsidian armor that was similar to Shovel Knight's but darker and more sinister looking. He wore a black barbute-styled helmet with long, pointy red horns protruding from the top and pauldrons outlined in red as well as a red pelvic area. Black Knight's weapon of choice was also a shovel. Shield Knight was a tall female knight that wore red armor, a helmet with feathered wings on the side that showed her pretty face, and a small shield strapped to her right and a large shield strapped to her left arm. Insecto Knight was shy ad incredibly short, roughly the size of of a child. He had a black body, a white insect head with two eyes, no visible mouth and two curved horns. Insecto Knight wore a grey cloak and carried a sword that resembled a nail.
(Author's Note: Shovel Knight, Black Knight, and Shield Knight are from the game Shovel Knight. Insecto Knight is actually the Knight from Hollow Knight. The name Insecto Knight was created by RavenShade and I have given him a bit of a different origin and a new power.)
Sir Slicer picked up the sound sword that once belonged to the castle's previous owner, before King had made him sign the placer over him. The blue haired knight admired the sword for a bit before turning his attention to the four knights. Out of all the knights that worked for Sir Slicer these four were a bit of an odd group that behaved differently from the others. Shovel Knight and Shield Knight were an honorable pair of knights who were in a loving relationship together, Black Knight had a fierce rivalry with Shovel Knight and only followed orders when they suited or interested him, and Insecto Knight was the youngest of the group, who had been found by the trio a few years back and they took him in. Insecto Knight viewed Shovel Knight and Shield Knight as his parents and mentors, and he viewed Black Knight as a uncle. Sir Slicer had met the four knights in one of the dungeons scattered around Ooo and was greatly impressed by their skills. During that particular dungeon crawl, Shovel Knight and his group had fallen prey to one of the dungeon's many traps and Sir Slicer had rescued them from it. Shovel Knight and his group were greatly impressed by this and were very thankful to Sir Slicer. Sir Slicer took this as a opportunity to recruit the four knights into his Order of No Quarter and using a bit of charm and charisma he had convinced the knights that his order was very nobel and honorable and that they should join him. Shovel Knight and his group were a bit hesitant at first, but Sir Slicer spun a grand tale about his order and the people he worked besides were all working together to make all of Ooo into a united kingdom were everyone could live together in peace. The knights bought into the story and to keep the charade up, Sir Slicer made sure they saw the cleanest parts of the castle and the most clean cut and civilized members of King's forces. To add to the story, Sir Slicer kept the knights busy by sending them out of dungeon raids to collect treasure for Castle Lemongrab's treasure trove. Now Sir Slicer had called the four knights in for a important assignment.
"You are all wondering why I summoned you." Said Sir Slicer turning to face his guests.
"We are." Said Shovel Knight.
"As you are all probably aware of there's a great tension between the Fire Kingdom and the Candy Kingdom, due to Queen Bubblegum's heinous actions. There is a high possibility of a war that will spread across all of Ooo. Many kingdoms and villages are taking sides and are preparing for war in their own way. Castle Lemongrab possibly has the biggest number of allies and soldiers in all of Ooo, but we are severely lacking in terms of magical weapons and artifacts. True we have the fairies and magic users at our command, but they can only do so much. Now we have heard from a few sources in Wizard City that a expedition is being put together to go to Mt. Ebott in search of a magical item of immense power called Horror's Hand. We also believe there might be other powerful magical items in the mountain as well. There's also been news that the young hero known as Finn and his siblings might go along on this expedition, which is why I need your help or to be more precise I need Insecto Knight's help." Said Sir Slicer looking at the short.
Insecto Knight pointed at himself and Sir Slicer nodded.
"I am aware of your size changing abilities, which would make you the perfect person to spy on Finn and his siblings in their home. As for the rest of you, you will be assigned to the expedition that we will send to Mt. Ebott to retrieve Horror's Hand and any other magical items you can find. We must obtain these items of power at all cost in order to safeguard the future King has envisioned." Said Sir Slicer.
The four knights exchanged looks between each other and then Shield Knight spoke up.
"Excuse me, Sir Slicer, but I must ask, why don't we form an alliance with Wizard City or ask the Finn and his siblings to join up with us? I only ask, because I feel uncomfortable with all this sneaking around and spying business."
"A good question my dear Shield Knight and I shall give you an answer. You see we have already tried to forge an alliance with Wizard City, but the Grand Master Wizard has turned us down. We also got word that a few members of the Council went rogue a while back and tried to kill Finn's sister Gata and tried to take over the city. A truly troublesome and concerning event and I think it would be in Castle Lemongrab's interest not to associate with them. As Finn and his siblings, I'm afraid they are more of free agents who side with whoever they want and refuse to side with anyone they believe to be evil and I'm afraid due to the spread of some rumors about us, they refuse to side with King's forces for the time being. We hope eventually to recruit Finn and his siblings and form an alliance with Wizard City, sometime in the future, but until then we are forced to race against for our own self interest and preservation." Said Slicer.
"I suppose that makes sense. Thank you." Said Shield Knight.
"You're welcome." Said Sir Slicer as he handed Shovel Knight a map to Finn's treefort and a tiny blue magic communication crystal.
The knights left the quarters and headed outside. They made their way to one of the castle exits and stopped. Shovel Knight and Shield Knight turned to look at Insecto Knight.
"I guess this is where we part ways." Said Shovel Knight as he handed the map and crystal to Insecto Knight.
"I will be the best spy in all of Ooo. You can count on me to alert you and the others about the expedition." Said Insecto Knight.
"Just stay safe and be smart." Said Shield Knight putting a hand on Insecto Knight's shoulder.
"Don't go dying on us kid." Said Black Knight.
Insecto Knight nodded his head, turned around, and walked through the exit.
Meanwhile in the secret lair, Kim was in one of the many giving both Bouncy Bee and Blastronaut a tune up, when AMO walked into the lab with a determined look on his face. The little MO walked over to Kim and spoke.
"I want to invade and takeover MO Co.. I want my own lair and my own personal servants. The MO Co. is my birthright."
Kim thought about this. The factory had a bunch of valuable resources and tech that could be very useful for future projects. Not to mention a bunch of new servants sounded very nice.
"Alright, I'll help you invade and takeover MO Co. and give you your own lair and servants." Said Kim.
"Yes!" Said AMO as he pumped his fist in the air.
Soon, Kim, AMO, and Blastronaut were loading up into a cockpit on Bouncy Bee and leaving the lair through a hidden hanger. The giant cyborg bee flew through the sky heading to MO Co. on a hostile takeover mission.
In another part of Ooo, Mabel and her little group were nearing Soft Village and according to Giffany the crystal was in the village.
"You see finding the flashlight and getting it back will be a piece of cake. We just going to have to go into that village and grab and will be back in the Ice Kingdom before anyone knows we're gone." Said Mabel.
"I think I see a little hiccup in your plan." Said Chicle pointing ahead.
Near the edge of the village were a dozen Cuties, who were now four feet tall and were armed with spears and mushroom clubs, as well as fierce scowls on their faces. Mabel first thought the Cuties were the village locals, but then she saw a line of Soft People bound by ropes being lead into a cage by another couple of Cuties and locked up.
"Ok so...that might be a problem." Said Mabel with a nervous grin.
