The Old Bait and Ensnare.
Spongebob and Patrick were on the road. Not saying much to each other. Then they spotted a sign for ice cream. Spongebob stopped at it.
"Ice cream," Patrick said rather excitedly.
"Wait a minute, pat," SpongeBob said worriedly; "this may be a trap."
"What makes you say that," Patrick asked.
"I just have this feeling," Spongebob said, eyes aglow for a moment.
"Oh don't be silly," Patrick said, "why on earth would someone make a trap with ice cream?"
Spongebob was surprised, did Patrick forget what just happened at the Thug Tug?
"I,' Spongebob started to say, but then he thought about it, staying quiet.
Patrick asked, "You... What?"
"...can't argue with you," Spongebob said at last, "But I'll go see if it's a trap. I'll never forgive myself something bad happened to you."
Without Patrick saying anything else Spongebob jumped out of the vehicle and marched up to the pile of skulls. He stops, his eyes glowing. Spongebob gulp, and began walking through a path that seemed to fit him perfectly. His fear and worry ate at him as he nervously grew close to the ice cream stand.
"Hello dear," A kind-looking old woman greeted him, "What can I get for you?"
Spongebob gathered himself by taking a deep breath and said trying to sound cheerful, "Two scoops of chocolate please."
"Sure thing sweetie," The old lady said sweetly. She pulled out what looked to be exactly what Spongebob asked for. Spongebob took the bowl into his hands, cold and slimy. Spongebob felt the little ease he found quickly sink back into fear. he tried to get the bowl away, nothing. the old lady's arms stretched out when he pulled the bowl to his body. The bowl stuck to him, he tried to pull away, but it was too late, the monster rose from the ground beneath him and the old lady lost her wig and glasses.
"AAAAAH," Spongebob screamed, "MONSTER!"
Patrick started driving the Drivable-Patty-Inator 3000 away. Spongebob saw this and his heart grew heavy and he closed his eye, bracing himself for his worst.
"Hold on Spongebob," Patrick shouted. The horn honked at Spongebob and he looked at his friend, who had the arms out to grab him. Patrick pulled as hard as he could with the car. Spongebob felt his spirits lift as he felt the sticky bowl was torn from him. Spongebob was brought to Patrick into a hug.
"Patrick," Spongebob said, starting to cry, "I thought.."
Before Spongebob could finish his sentence, the monster roared.
"no time for that," Patrick said, "We gotta go!"
Patrick let Spongebob go to drive the car away, the monster chasing them.
"My rock," Spongebob murmured before he let Patrick go. He kept going, faster and faster down the road, the monster right on their tails. a cliff was coming up fast.
"We gotta jump," Patrick said. Spongebob and Patrick abandoned the car sending it flying. The monster ate the machine and stopped before being eaten by a larger monster in the trench before the big monster disappeared. The two friends were left in shock.
"Sandy is going to be so mad," Spongebob said finally, "When she finds out we lost her car.
"Never mind that," Patrick said, "I think we lost the road, road, road, road, road, r- sorry."
Spongebob felt his heart sink again, it hurt so bad, he felt so down. He turned away and began to walk home.
"Spongebob," Patrick asked, "Where are you going?"
"I," Spongebob said then stopped in his tracks, "I don't know. I just, can't be here. I, we don't belong out here."
"What do you mean," Patrick asked.
"We're just, kids," Spongebob said gloomily. then he had a realization. He's said that before. He could remember his argument with Patrick here. He felt doubly distressed and let a few tears leak out.
"What's wrong buddy," Patrick asked.
"I can remember what happened to us here," Spongebob said, turning to Patrick misty-eyed, "I gave up and then I made you give up, it was awful."
"Oh buddy," Patrick said hugging Spongebob, "We don't have to do that again."
"But I don't," Spongbob said with a sniff, "Remember how we managed to go on."
