Chapter 401 Unexpected Guest

KARR drove through the Grasslands towards the Treefort. Gumbald sat quietly in the driver's seat as the robot drove itself. KARR stopped a few yards from the Treefort and Gumbald grabbed the jar with Kenneth in it and got out of the robot car and headed towards the Treefort. As Gumbald got close to the front door it suddenly flew open and Finn stood in the doorway with a scowl on his face and a sword in his hand. Jake and Gata stood behind their brother with scowls on their faces.
"That's far enough." Said Finn pointing his sword at Gumbald.
"I come in peace. I just want to talk. I'm unarmed and the only ones with me are KARR and Kenneth." Said Gumbald as he indicated his two creations.
"What do you want to talk about?" Asked Gata.
"I just want a chance to talk about working together to create a better future for all of Ooo. Things are really getting shaky lately and I fear that war will breakout. I wish to prevent that from happening and I believe if we work together, we could really help Ooo." Said Gumbald.
"Why should we listen and trust you? You're evil!" Said Jake.
"Who says that? My niece, Bubblegum. You can't trust a word she says. Bubblegum has proven that she can't be trusted and she's a threat to all of Ooo. She betrayed the Fire Kingdom by destroying their greatest weapons and killing thousands of innocent civilians and then she made that bubble creator and tried to assassinate me with it at a peace meeting. Then the bubble creator fell into the wrong hands and nearly destroyed the world! Bubblegum is the true menace to all of Ooo not me." Said Gumbald.
Finn, Jake, and Gata exchanged looks with one another. As much as they hated to admit it Gumbald was kind of right. Bubblegum had committed a few heinous acts in the past and had told a couple of big lies. What Bubblegum had said about Gumbald being evil, could easily be just another lie. The siblings didn't actually know that much about Gumbald. It wouldn't really hurt to hear what he had to say and if they didn't like it, they could always ask him to leave.
"Alright will listen to what you have to say, but if we don't like it, you're out of here." Said Finn lowering his sword.
"Understood." Said Gumbald with a nod.
"You can come into the house, but no funny business." Said Jake.
"You won't get any trouble from me." Said Gumbald.
Jake and Gata backed away and let Gumbald and Kenneth in as Finn closed the door. The group headed to the kitchen to sit and talk.
As all that was happening, over in the Candy Kingdom, Bubblegum was gathering a large number of Banana Guards, Gumball Robots, and a few Safety Bots to go after Gumbald. Bubblegum also thought this was a good opportunity to deploy her new giant robot the Prize Ball Guardians. The new robot had a cuboid-shaped head, which contained a large number of prize containers, each of which contained, robots, weapons, and gadgets. It was very tall, with a dark pink body that resembled with yellow windows and a balcony. The robot also carried a gun at it's waist. Bubblegum was fixing to board the Prize Ball Guardian, when Braco stepped in front of her with a concerned look on his face.
"I heard that Gumbald has left the grounds of Castle Lemongrab and you plan to go after him." Said Braco.
"I do. This could be our one chance to take him out, before he can cause any serious problems to us and Ooo." Said Bubblegum.
"Don't you think this is a tad excessive?" Asked Braco.
"I'm not taking any chances with my uncle, his as smart as me...possibly even smarter. There's no telling what kind of tricks or hidden weapons he has up his sleeve." Said Bubblegum with a hint of fear in her voice.
"Has it occurred to that this might be the wrong course of action? You're another one of your secret weapons here and the last time you did that our son and Eria were nearly killed and then the world almost got destroyed!" Said Braco.
"The Bubble Creator was a bad idea. I'm using a better more controllable weapon this time around, so there's no danger of that happening this time." Said Bubblegum with assurance.
"What if Gumbald isn't doing anything wrong. What if his just out for a drive?" Asked Gumbald.
"It's never something simple with my uncle. His up to something and I have to put a stop to it." Said Bubblegum as she began to walk past Braco, who grabbed her arm.
"Please don't. I just have this bad feeling something terrible is going to happen. Our kingdom is enough trouble as it is and our allies are turning their backs on us. I get your scared of your uncle after all these years and you're afraid of what his going to do, but you're not alone in this. Just stay here. We can handle whatever he or King's forces throw at us together." Said Braco pleading to Bubblegum.
Bubblegum looked at her husband's face and for just a few seconds, she thought about staying and forgetting about her uncle, but she shook the thought out of her head.
"I can't. As Gumbald is still out there, you, Neddy, and everyone we care about is in danger. I'm going to put a stop to this and keep everyone safe." Said Bubblegum as she pulled her arm away from Braco and walked away.
Braco watched Bubblegum enter the Prize Ball Guardian. The robot activated and marched out of the Candy Kingdom followed by the Safety Bots and other forces. Braco let out a sigh, pulled out his cellphone, and made a call.
"Hey it's me. Bubblegum is about do something reckless and I have a really bad feeling something terrible is going to happen. You might be the only one who can stop and maybe talk some sense into her." Said Braco.
The person on the other line was silent for a few seconds and replied. Braco listened and then he spoke.
"Good. Get them involved. Bubblegum has gathered a fairly large attack force to deal with Gumbald and they are currently heading to the Grasslands."
Back at the Treefort, Gumbald had carefully removed the special watch, Jordan had given him and was pretending to check the time on it, before he carefully set it down on the table and made sure the mirror was facing Finn sitting across from him. Gumbald also placed the jar containing the sleeping Kenneth besides the watch before he stood up from the kitchen table and began to speak to Finn and his siblings.
"As all of you may or may not I am the true founder and ruler of the Candy Kingdom, until an unfortunate incident took me out of the picture and my young niece Bubblegum took over. Now I am back and I've seen what a mess Bubblegum has caused and now a war is threatening to breakout in Ooo. People are taking sides and gathering allies. Castle Lemongrab has several powerful kingdoms and mercenaries gathered together and they plan to strike fast and hard if a war breaks out. I currently have a high position of power in Castle Lemongrab and I have the ears of several rulers and generals and I've gotten to know them quit a bit. The rulers and generals are reasonable people and I believe they can be peacefully handled. What Bubblegum did to the Candy Kingdom has them all on edge. If Bubblegum was removed from power and say if someone like me was to take her place things would greatly calm down and I could use my new status and position to make peace with the forces of Castle Lemongrab and we could all unite and bring forth a better and stronger Ooo."
"So what exactly do you need us for?" Asked Finn.
"Well I need some highly respected people in Ooo to put in a good word for me with the Candy Kingdom citizens. Bubblegum erased my name from the Candy Kingdom's history books and when I came back she stared to spread a bunch of horrible rumors about me to turn the people against me. The candy people won't listen to me, but they will listen to the words of respected heroes like yourselves." Said Gumbald.
"So you're just using us to get your kingdom back?" Asked Gata.
"Yes, but I'm trying to get into a better position to help both the Candy Kingdom and all of Ooo. Bubblegum has clearly shown that she is an unfit ruler and the longer she stays in power the more trouble she'll bring and cause to all of Ooo. Do you honestly want to see another incident like The Cooler?" Said Gumbald with a serious look on his face.
Finn exchanged looks with both Gata and Jake. What Gumbald was saying was true and what he was offering sounded pretty good. Before they could answer or make any response there was a loud thunderous thud followed by another that shook the entire Treefort. Then Bubblegum's voice boomed through some kind of loudspeaker system outside the Treefort.
"Uncle Gumbald come out of the Treefort and surrender yourself to me or you will be destroyed! You have five minutes to comply!"
Gumbald, Finn, Jake, and Gata raced to the window and saw Bubblegum wearing red battle armor standing on the balcony of the Prize Ball Guardian with eight Safety Bots standing to it's sides along with a troop of Banana Guards and Gumball Robots. Gumbald just shook his head at the sight.
"You see this is exactly what I'm talking about. Bubblegum is clearly out of line. She doesn't care about other people or their homes. Bubblegum brought all those soldiers and weapons to capture or destroy me. She's clearly losing her mind. Well I guess I have no choice but to surrender myself over to her." Said Gumbald as he picked up the watch and was fixing to leave the Treefort, but Finn stopped him.
"No don't. I'll go handle it." Said Finn.
"You really are a brave young man." Said Gumbald.
"Um what exactly are you going to do bro?" Asked Jake.
"I'm going to have a few words with Bubblegum to convince her to leave. If that doesn't work I'll use a different method." Said Finn with determination in his eyes as he pulled out his sword and headed to the front door.
