Chapter 403 Green Warrior

Gumbald returned to Castle Lemongrab and presented Jordan with the components to create the Soul Stone. Jordan pulled out the Golden Star Scepter and waved it over the watch to transfer the tiny bit of Finn's shadow and the miniature chrome copy trapped in the mirror towards the blue gemstone on the watch. The gemstone began to glow with a faint blue light and Jordan smiled as he removed it from the watch.

"It's ready." Said Jordan.

"Before we let Grass Demon do his thing, we need to make a few contingencies and put in a few safeguards." Said Gumbald.

Jordan nodded his head and reached into his pocket and pulled out a quill pin, a few small pieces of paper, and a bottle of ink.

"The quill pin is a Phoenix feather, the paper comes from enchanted tress, and the ink is from a kraken. These three items combined will place a powerful binding on our champion. Just write the key words and phrases you want to use and place them on the stone." Explained Jordan.

Gumbald took the pin and dipped it into the ink. He thought about what words to use and then he wrote them on the paper. The words were so normal and harmless that no one would ever figure out what true power they held. The paper was placed on the stone and it vanished in a flash of light. It was time to see Grass Demon and have him make their champion whole. Gumbald and Jordan enter the room they kept Grass Demon and placed the Soul Stone next to the orb that contained the demon.

"And so it begins." Said Grass Demon as the orb around him shattered to pieces and he scuttled over to the stone.

Grass Demon placed his legs onto the stone and he vanished in a flash of light. The demon was now insisted the stone! The world inside the stone was a great dark void with a copy of Finn floating in the air sleeping. Grass Demon raced towards the copy and leaped onto his chest wrapping his legs around him. This action caused the copy to wake up and look at the demon strapped to his chest.

"What the heck?! Who or what are you you?!" Demanded the copy.

"Oh I'm just your new best friend here to turn you into a real boy." Said Grass Demon.

"Real...? But I am real!" Said the copy looking confused.

"Hate to break it to you kid, but you're not real. You're just a shadow of the real Finn. Just look around you." Said Grass Demon.

The copy began to look around at the black void that surrounded him and he felt a great shocking realization go through him as he realized what the strange creature was saying was true. But this was insane! The copy had all the original Finn's memories, yet he had no memory or clue how he ended up here.

"NO!" Cried the copy in dismay.

"Oh it's not too bad." Said Grass Demon.

"Get off of me!" Yelled the copy as he tried to yank the Grass Demon off, but it refused to budge.

"Oh I wouldn't do that if I was you. I'm your only way out of this sad little world of yours. Without me you're nothing!" Said Grass Demon looking right up into the copy's eyes.

"You...can really get me out of this place? You can...make me into a real person?" Asked the copy.

"I can do all that and so much more. All you have to do is trust me." Said Grass Demon.

"Trust you?" Asked the copy.

"Trust in me." Said Grass Demon as his eyes glowed brightly.

The copy stared into Grass Demon's eyes and became memorized by them.

"I...trust...you." Said the copy.

"Good. Let's get started now." Said Grass Demon.

The Soul Stone began to glow green and float up into the air. Both Gumbald and Jordan watched in stunned amazement as grass began to sprout from the stone and began to weave and wrap around the stone forming a cocoon the size of a man. The cocoon fell and landed on the floor and then it began to split open. A being that resembled Finn emerged from the cocoon. The new Finn was green and entirely made of grass, from his skin to his hair and clothing; he also had blockier proportions, and was barefooted with two pointed toes on each foot. The new being stumbled to his feet and blinked his eyes as he looked down at his hands and body.

"I have...a body and I'm...green." Mumbled the being.

"Welcome to the world..." Said Gumbald as he took a step to the being.

The being whirled around to face Gumbald and it's eyes went wide and recognition. He knew from Finn's memories that Gumbald was evil and an enemy. The being's arm stretched and his expanded before slamming into Gumbald and pinned him to the wall. Gumbald gasped in both pain and amazement as his champion's power. The being stared at his expanded limb in wonder. The real Finn didn't have powers like this. Jake and Jinn had powers like this. The being thought about the evil clone and realized with horror that what he was. He was a clone created to fight the real Finn and other heroes! The being refused to be some kind of puppet for others to use!

"I don't fully understand what I am or how I came to be, but I'm going to put a stop to you here and now Gumbald!" Declared the being as he prepared to crush Gumbald.

Jordan was fixing to strike the clone with his wand, but Gumbald looked at him and shook his head telling him not to. Gumbald then looked at the clone and spoke.

"Since you're a clone of Finn the hero, would you kindly give me a chance to explain myself?"

"Fine, but no funny business or I'll end you!" Said the clone.

"Well that wouldn't be very smart of me. My life is quit literally in your hands." Said Gumbald.

"Get on with it!"

"Right. Yes you are indeed a clone of Finn, I created to be a champion of Castle Lemongrab and defeat my enemies."

"Knew it!"

"War is coming and I'm going to need to pull out some really serious tricks if I intended to win it and save the world. I have nothing really against Finn or any of the other heroes, but unfortunately we are going to end up fighting each other. I've run the numbers and all the heroes will raise a high body count before the war reaches it's end. Millions will die and I wish to prevent that from happening and you my dear champion are the key to that."

"Why should I believe anything you say?"

"Because I have nothing to hide. I'm an open book. I want my kingdom back, I want to rid Ooo of evil, and bring forth a bright future of peace."

"Didn't you try to trick the real Finn into helping you?"

"A little bit, but my goals were nobel. You know Bubblegum is a threat to all of Ooo. And there's the Lich and Crimson to worry about as well."

"That's true."

"Well I plan to do away with all of them and if you would kindly agree to help me, we can accomplish all of that together. You wouldn't be a mere clone Finn anymore. You would be your own person. You would be the greatest hero in all of Ooo!"

The clone let all this sink in. He had Finn's desire to both do good and be a great hero. What Gumbald was saying sounded good and he liked the idea of being the greatest hero in Ooo. The clone released Gumbald and his hand and arm reverted back to normal. Gumbald walked over to the clone and offered him, his hand. The clone eyed the hand and shook it.

"A wise choice. I knew you would see things my way. Now we need to give you a proper name. Can't simply call you Finn, that would just be very confusing." Said Gumbald.

The clone glanced at a nearby mirror and walking over to it. He studied his reflection in it and then he removed his hat and let his hair fall out as he continued to study his reflection. The clone wasn't human, but a plant based creature, which gave him the perfect idea for a name. He turned to Gumbald and Jordan and spoke.

"You can call me Fern."
