A/N: Hey guys! Back again with a long-awaited update! Hope you like it!
She wakes up to an empty bed, something that quickly brings a frown to her face. Her eyes want to close again though, so she just paws at the bare sheets as if that will solve her problems.
It doesn't.
Her frustration outweighs the tiredness and she sits up in a huff, scanning the room for any traces of her personal space heater.
The bathroom door left open is a sure sign that he was here. Shaking her head, she stumbles out of bed, grabbing his shirt off the back of the chair (another sure sign he was around) and pulling it over her head.
She's smelled colognes that cost upwards of a thousand dollars and so far nothing beats the scent of him.
Despite her instance on being upset, she can't help but smile as the soft cloth encompasses her, falling down to her thighs.
It's a rare cloudy day for LA and rare quiet day for her.
Which is why, the frown returns to her face at the thought, she's upset that her personal pillow was missing when she woke up. There's only so many hours in a day and they're basically wasted if she doesn't even get to cuddle.
She walks out of the bathroom with a quest in mind. The wood is cold beneath her feet as she pads through the hall and towards the low hum that's getting closer with every step.
The hum turns out to be the melody of some song she can't quite place but then again, her eyes are too distracted, taking in his bare back.
Her quest of finding her personal eye-candy complete, she breathes in the smell of coffee that's taken over the large open-concept kitchen.
There's something cooking on the stove that she can't see since his back is in the way. (Not that she's about to complain about that).
So, she makes the executive decision to go over and find out what else is adding to the sweet aroma.
But before she can move, he turns around, pan in hand and wearing the apron she got him last year that says: "Bakers gonna bake, bake, bake, bake, bake".
His eyes light up when he notices her, a wide smile overtaking her face and her personal sunshine is here.
"Good morning beautiful," he says as he slides a fresh pancake onto the plate.
God, she could kiss him.
So she does.
Crossing the kitchen in a few steps, she makes it to him just as he puts down the pan and tugs his face towards her.
It's not a gentle kiss and she knows it, but this is one of those moments she's having a hard time holding herself back.
Something pulls at her heart as he takes her breath away.
"Why so rough?" he asks, clearly a little out of breath himself, when they break away. But it doesn't seem like he minds by the way his arms are wrapped around her body.
"I woke up cold this morning," she says, shooting him a glare but leaning into his touch nonetheless.
An adorable frown takes over his face. "Do you want to turn up the heat or something?"
She lets out a sigh. There's no way he doesn't know what she's talking about, he's just trying to be difficult. Then again, he wouldn't be her personal dork if he wasn't.
Pouting, she hits him lightly on the chest. "You know what I mean."
He smiles, bending down to drop a kiss on her head. "I thought you'd like pancakes," he says by way of response, gesturing to the plates.
He's right, they do look good. But…
"I'd like you more."
He chuckles at her stubbornness. "I like you even more," he teases back, pulling her in closer.
"Yeah, well I—"
He's her personal space heater, pillow, eye-candy, dork and a million other things that she thanks every god out there for every day. But most importantly, as she realizes on this random cloudy morning with the smell of coffee and pancakes with his smile lighting up her world is that she…
"I love you."
She feels the way his arms stiffen around her as he freezes at the words that have just come out of her mouth. The first time those three little words have been said, just like that, out loud.
There's a lightness in her chest from her realization, along with anxiety at his response. He still hasn't said anything.
"Percy?"
She tries to take a step back, but he just tightens his hold on her, so she stills, staying in his arms.
"I love you too."
The words tumble from his lips like he's been bursting to say them out loud and she feels her heart speed up at his declaration.
There are no more words, the smiles on their faces say enough. She doesn't know how long they stand like that, just staring at each other until Percy nods towards the food.
"So," he starts, "want to have some pancakes?"
She just nods and he leads her to the stool, placing a plate in front of her. They look perfect, much like the man who made them.
"Is that coffee I smell?" she asks, wanting to get a taste of whatever he's made. (Pro-tip from an actress, date a barista and your coffee will be great even if the tabloids aren't)
"Anything for you, my love."
She has to actively hold herself back until he's done pouring out her cup from jumping up and pulling him into another kiss.
It ends too quickly because they both can't stop smiling but that just makes it all the better.
And as they dig into the pancakes she laughs along with her personal source of happiness.
