(Author's Note: This chapter will explain the history of the Underground as well as combine some different games and lore. Enjoy.)
Toriel lead the group of humans, wizards, and heroes deeper and deeper into the ruins, until they came across a large friendly looking house. Before they good get any closer a figure jumped down from one of the ruin pillars and landed before the group. The newcomer appeared to be a medium size humanoid insect with black skin and a large white V shaped with two eyes. The bug wore a maroon cloak and seemed to be armed with a lance that resembled a knitting needle.
"Hello Hornet." Said Toriel with a smile.
"Welcome home mother." Said Hornet.
"Mother?" Asked Heckapoo.
"This is my adopted daughter Hornet." Explained Toriel.
"Oh I see now." Said Heckapoo.
"I see you brought quit a few guess with you, mother." Said Hornet taking the explorers in.
"Yes, I found them exploring the ruins. I'm taking them to the house for snacks and to tell them about the mountain's history." Said Toriel.
"The others will be thrilled." Said Hornet.
The group continued on, until they reached the house. There were three elderly looking beings sitting on the porch in rocking chairs. The first being appeared to be a very short humanoid bug with black body, a grey head, two big eyes, two antenna, two black little feelers that looked like a mustache, and wore a maroon cape. The second being was a blue man with a white beard and mustache wearing a blue mail coif, a blue tunic, blue pants, blue boots, and a white cape. The last being was an old woman with brown skin and white hair tied up in a bun with a red needle sticking through it, wearing glasses, a brown dress, and a green jacket, and holding a wooden walking staff. The three elderly beings saw Toriel and her guest and stood up to greet them.
"Hello everyone I brought some guest with me." Said Toriel indicating the large group behind her.
The expedition introduced themselves and then the elders introduced themselves.
"I'm Sly." Said the bug.
"Ser Manuel at your service." Said the blue man.
"I'm Jenka." Said the old women.
"Where are Sheo and the others?" Asked Toriel.
"They're all inside the house." Said Jenka.
"Alright I'm going to go get some food and drinks and I'll be right back." Said Toriel as she went inside followed by Hornet and Ser Manuel.
"You're quit an interesting lot. I can sense a great deal of magic from several of you." Said Jenka as she studied the expedition group.
"You can sense our magic?" Asked Huntress Wizard.
"Well I am a fairly powerful witch and I had a powerful wizard for a brother, so I have a knack for these kinds of things." Said Jenka with a small smile.
"What do you mean had a brother? Is he dead?" Asked Heckapoo.
"Not...exactly. My brother still lives, but we had a falling out." Said Jenka looking at the ground sadly.
Before any more questions could be asked, Toriel returned along with Ser Manuel and Hornet. The three of them were carrying some pies, plates, forks, cups, a pitcher of water, and a pitcher of tea. A few minutes later three new individuals came out to join everyone. The first was a big humanoid bug with a white head with three horns, dressed in black with maroon armor on his chest, legs, and wrist, a maroon headband, a black cape with a fuzzy collar, and a brown apron stained with paint. The second was a young bald human boy wearing a pink shirt and blue pants. The last was a human girl wearing a long yellow raincoat over a white gown, she had black hair covering her eyes, leaving her nose and mouth the only parts of her face visible.
"I'm Sheo." Said the bug introducing himself.
"Who're the kids?" Asked Jake.
"The boy is named Isaac and the girl is named Six. They're both human and they both appeared in different places in the Underground before a good friend of mine brought them here, since the rest of the Underground isn't very safe, especially for humans." Said Toriel.
"What do you mean?" Asked Ford.
"It has a lot to do with our history and how my people ended up here." Said Toriel.
"Ooo story time!" Cheered Mabel.
"This should be interesting." Said Dipper.
"You see, I and several other monsters who live here come from another universe. Long ago monsters and humans lived alongside each other in harmony. Those were peaceful times, until a big discovery was made. The human rulers aloud some of the brightest monster minds conduct experiments on death row inmates to see if their magic could erase all violent tendencies from the criminals so they could rejoin the world and become members of society. One experiment ended up accidentally killing one of the test subjects and one of monsters absorbed the human soul and gained a tremendous energy boost. Some more test were done and a few more human test subjects were killed and their souls were absorbed by the other monsters and their power greatly increased as well. A monster could absorb a human soul and gain tremendous power. Word of this discovery spread like wildfire. Humans became fearful of monsters thinking they were now in great danger. Most monsters were appalled by this discovery since they considered humans to be their good friends and would never dream of hurting them, but not every monster thought the same way. There was a group of monsters that desired power above all else and they went on a killing spree collecting as many human souls as they could. Dozens of children and elderly were killed and the humans became furious. They declared war on all monsters and a war broke out between our people. The humans won the war. The monsters that were left were rounded up and banished to the depths of Mt. Ebott. The humans had seven powerful magic users put up a magical barrier to prevent anyone from ever leaving Mt. Ebott." Said Toriel.
"That's terrible!" Cried Mabel.
"That's completely unfair! Your entire race shouldn't have been punished for the actions of a few!" Said Finn clenching his fists.
"Perhaps it is, but it's not the worst thing that could have happened. The humans could have easily exterminated us, but chose not to." Said Toriel.
"Still doesn't make it right." Mumbled Phoebe.
"It was tough at first, but we managed to make a living. My husband King Asgore Dreemurr worked hard to bring the monsters together and establish a civilization." Said Toriel.
"Wait the king of the monsters is your husband, so that makes you the queen of the monsters." Said Dipper.
"I am indeed queen of the monsters, but I abandoned that title years ago and I had a falling out with my husband." Said Toriel.
"What happened?" Asked Ford.
"Well Asgore had the royal scientist, Gaster study and according to him a monster would need the combined power of seven human souls to break the barrier. All seemed lost since it was highly unlikely for humans to just pop up in the Underground. Then one day my son Asriel found a human girl by the name of Chara. The two children became fast friends and Chara was adopted by me and Asgore. Chara had great magical potential and I later learned she had a rough home life and had fled to Mt. Ebott to get away from it all. She was well liked by all the monsters and we all lived peacefully and happy. For a time I believed that Chara was the key to my people's freedom as well as helping us make peace with the humans, but things took a drastic turn. Chara had a great deal of hatred for humans and she came up with a crazy plan to break the barrier and eradicate all the humans. She managed to kill herself and fused her soul with Asriel giving him the power to breach the barrier and go into the outside. They planned to kill some humans and absorb their souls to break the barrier and free the monsters. Asriel was carrying Chara's body back to her old home to give her a proper burial. The humans saw him with Chara's body and immediately assumed that he killed her. Chara wanted to attack and kill the humans, but Asriel refused to and decided to flee back to the mountain. The humans formed a mob and chased after Asriel. Asriel was gravely injured before he made back to the Underground. My husband and I found Asriel and he managed to tell us everything before he succumbed to his injuries and his body turned to dust." Said Toriel looking at the ground sadly as a single tear fell from her eyes.
"Asriel turned to dust?" Asked Dipper.
"It's what happens to my people, when...we die." Said Toriel.
The others looked at Toriel sadly and for several seconds no one said a thing. Finally Gata spoke.
"What happened to Chara's soul?"
"I...honestly don't know. It could have passed on or maybe Chara's soul is still lingering around and exploring the Underground. All I know for certain is that Asriel and Chara's deaths drove Asgore into a great rage. Asgore declared that all humans that fell into the Underground were enemies that must be killed and that he would use the power of the humans souls to destroy the barrier and wipe out all humans." Said Toriel.
"Yikes!" Said Wendy.
"So what happened next?" Asked Soos.
"Fearing what my husband was doing, I turned to Gaster for help and he came up with a very unique and unusual solution. Gaster developed a incredibly powerful machine capable of ripping holes into other universes and transporting people and objects to them. I thought this was a brilliant and nonviolent solution to all our problems and I had Gaster move everyone from our home universe to the one we are currently residing in. Everything worked out perfectly, but the barrier ended up somehow traveling with us and we were right back where we started. Gaster kept trying to figure out how to get around the barrier, but he had no luck and in that time six children from our home universe ended up going to their Mt. Ebott and fell through a rift created by Gaster's machine, which made them land here in this universe. The children were hunted down and killed and their souls were given to Asgore. I couldn't stand what was happening, so I left my husband and the palace and went to live in these ruins with my friends here." Said Toriel.
"So the barrier is still up?" Asked Phoebe.
"I'm afraid it is and while it is up you are all stuck here. Asgore just needs one more human soul and he will bring the barrier down and then he and his forces will seek a way to return to our original universe and kill all the humans." Said Toriel.
"What if we went to talk Asgore out of his plan and take down the barrier for him?" Asked Finn.
"Well I supposed my husband could be reasoned with, but would this world really accept us?" Said Toriel looking uncertain.
"Heck yeah! There's tons of crazy awesome people and beings living together. The monsters will fit right in." Said Jake.
"You really think you can destroy the barrier?" Asked Toriel.
"Well we have a team of highly skilled wizards, a couple of geniuses, the Fire Elemental, and a demigod. I think we can figure out a way to destroy the barrier." Said Gata with confidence.
"As much as I would like to see the barrier be destroyed. I don't think that's a good idea at this time." Said Jenka.
"How come?" Asked Finn.
"There are many dangerous creatures and beings within the Underground that could do great harm to the world if they ever got free." Said Jenka.
"Why are there so many dangerous creatures here?" Asked Jake.
"That is mainly my brother, Ballos's doing." Said Jenka.
"What did he do?" Asked Finn.
"Ballos was a brilliant and powerful wizard, who was very curious about other universes. He spent many days using some powerful crystals here in the Underground to look into other universes. One day he became infatuated with a powerful moth creature known as the Radiance who had a great deal of light magic and glowed with great power. Ballos believed the Radiance could take down the barrier and be a great deal of help to everyone in the Underground, so he transported the Radiance to this universe, but that was a terrible mistake. The Radiance turned out to a malicious and destructive force of nature that went on a destructive rampage through the Underground. Ballos realized his mistake and he needed to find a great being of darkness to combat the Radiance. He searched long and hard, until he found a being called Shadow Queen and convinced her to help him. The Shadow Queen was brought to the Underground along with a trio of her minions called the Shadow Sirens. Together they set out to rid the Underground of the Radiance. The Radiance proved herself to be a powerful and crafty foe, so Ballos and the Shadow Queen devised a plan to capture her. Ballos and the Shadow Queen combined their powers to try to create a warrior knight that they could trap the Radiance within it's body to serve as her prison. Many knights were created for the tasks, but they all failed. One of those knights ended up being Hornet, who Ballos gave to Toriel. Eventually Ballos and Shadow Queen created a knight called Hollow Knight and he managed to trap the Radiance within his body. Unfortunately the Radiance's power drove Hollow Knight mad and Ballos and Shadow Queen were forced to lock him away." Said Jenka.
"What happened afterwards?" Asked Dipper.
"Ballos and Shadow Queen ended up falling for each other and together they had twelve daughters." Said Jenka.
"Sounds like someone was busy." Said Stan before getting elbowed by Ford.
"The daughters weren't born in the traditional way. They were born by magic. The oldest of the daughters was called Spirit and she was almost as powerful as the Shadow Queen and learned a great deal about magic from Ballos. Anyhow for a time there was a bit of peace, but then the Shadow Queen began to want to spread her darkness to other universes and conquer them. Ballos used his magic and the powerful crystals of the Underground to create seven Crystal Stars he used to beat the Shadow Queen and seal her in a pocket dimension behind a great door. Spirit, along with her sisters and the Shadow Sirens still remain free and Spirit has used Ballos's knowledge to open portals to other universes to create a horrible army to help her free the Shadow Queen, destroy the barrier, and conquer everything in the multiverse." Said Jenka.
"What happened to Ballos and the Crystal Stars?" Asked Gata.
"The stars are needed to free the Shadow Queen. Ballos gave one of the stars to me and scattered the rest around the Underground. He then went to war with Spirit's forces and the constant fighting drove him mad, so I had to knock my brother out and seal him away deep within the Underground." Said Jenka.
"So we got a few crazy wackos trying to breakout and conquer everything. Anything else we should know about?" Said Jake.
"Well...there is the Gunslinger Lich." Said Toriel.
"Gunslinger Lich?!" Cried Finn looking a bit alarmed at the possibility of another Lich in Ooo.
"We don't know too much about him. He used to be a wizard who specialized in guns and then one day he just turned into a undead monstrosity. The Gunslinger Lich is the most mysterious and feared being in the Underground these days." Said Jenka.
"Oh boy." Said Jake.
"Looks like we're going to have ourselves a serious adventure." Said Finn looking very determined.
