Chapter 413 Snow Exploration

In another part of the Underground, Magica and her group had just entered the Underground through the hole dug by Tinker Knight's drilling machine. Magica looked around at the surrounding area and then she summoned dozens of her shadows and ordered them to scout ahead. After the shadows left Magica walked down a tunnel followed by Morbida, Gateaux, and Natasha.

Elsewhere, Ashi and her six sisters had found a cave leading into the Underground and had gone through it and found themselves in the snowy land of Snowdin. Somewhere in the Underground was Chi and the Daughters of Aku were determined to find and end her. Ashi and her sisters set out into the strange land.

In the Snowdin Forest, Blockner and his crew were making their way to their clients lair with the dead Pugalisk. They came across several signs that read 'Warning! You are near the border of Subcon Forest. Do not enter!' The Subcon Forest was the home and domain of a powerful and mysterious being known as the Snatcher. The Snatcher was believed to have a army of shadow creatures at his command and that he had the power to steal souls. There were also rumors of a being more dangerous then the Snatcher lurking deep in the Subcon Forest. Blockner and his crew didn't have any business in the Subcon Forest, though their clients were based near the border. They traveled along the border, they came upon what appeared to be a crypt. As the mercenaries neared the crypt a few dozen skeletons in Viking armor burst out of the ground and surrounded them.

"Who dares trespass on our land?" Boomed a voice from the crypt.

"Just some mercenaries delivering a freshly killed monster to add to your horde." Said Blockner.

A trio of figures came out of the crypt and approached the mercenaries. The first was an average size man with glowing red eyes dressed in a horned helmet and grey armor and carrying a jagged sword. He simply went by the name Necromancer. The second was a ghoulish looking being with blue skin, yellow pointed teeth, red eyes, and a white beard. He wore a brown tunic, a red cape with a high collar, and a chain necklace with a tiny glass jar that seemed to contain a purple glowing ghost creature. The being was called the NecroDancer and he was followed by a glowing purple sphere that contained a golden lute that was playing a light tune. The last being was a short skeleton-faced person wearing an oversized purple hood-scarf-cape combo, the cape being so large that it trailed on the floor. He wore purple shoulder pads outlined with yellow, a belt of three purple oval gems outlined with yellow, white sleeves, white pants, yellow gloves, and yellow shoes. This being was called Ruxxtin and he wielded a talking white staff with a white skull and four decorative purple horns at the top.

Necromancer waved his hands at the skeletons who stepped away from the mercenaries. Ruxxtin and NecroDancer approached the dead body of the Pugalisk and examined it.

"A very fine specimen." Said NecroDancer.

"Yes we can really do some evil with this." Said Ruxxtin's Staff.

"It'll help us make a grand entrance, when we invade Snowdin." Said Ruxxtin.

"Now about our pay." Said Blockner.

Ruxxtin pulled out a sack full of gold and jewels and gave it to Blockner. Necromancer zapped the Pugalisk with some mystical lightning and brought the dead creature to life. The Pugalisk slithered off the truck and stood beside Necromancer and his comrades.

"Pleasure doing business with you." Said Blockner as he and his mercenaries left the area and headed back to the town.

The undead horde followed their masters back into the crypt.

Back in the town of Snowdin, the expedition from Castle Lemongrab had decided to split up and explore the surrounding area before meeting at Grillby's to meet back up with Blockner and his crew. Jordan, General Rabbit, and the fairies found a library and went inside to do some research on the history of the Underground, Fern headed to Grillby's, Shovel Knight and Shield saw what appeared to be a circus tent and decided to go check it out, Specter Knight and Black Knight decided to explore the nearby woods, Tinker Knight and Plague Knight went to explore some local shops, and General Sheep, General Pig, Mole Knight, and Treasure Knight just wandered around the town taking in the sights.

General Sheep, General Pig, Mole Knight, and Treasure Knight walked through the streets, until they came across a large bulletin board with various posters and flyers on it. There were a couple of wanted posters depicting a being called Pluto, who resembled the dwarf planet with a face, legs, and muscular arms and the other was a humanoid rat wearing black pants, a red shirt, and a blue cape who went by the name Resourceful Rat. The four travelers were impressed by the size of the criminals's bounties and made mental notes to keep an eye out for them. There was a flyer about joining the Royal Guard, a flyer talking about a upcoming concert featuring a singer named Siren and a DJ named DJ Octavio, a flyer talking about job opportunities in a local mine, and a couple of flyers talking about two different tournaments going on in Hotland. One tournament was called the Sibling Showdown and only pairs of siblings were allowed to enter it and the winners would be granted a wish. The other tournament was called the Grand Free-For-All which featured a big trophy and a large cash prize. The four travelers began to make plans to enter the Grand Free-For-All to win the prize money.

Shovel Knight and Shield Knight approached the circus tent and saw several monsters being entertained by some bug creatures dressed as clowns. A tall bug with a white face, red eyes, black horns, and dressed in a black and red cloak stood near by and seemed to be giving the other bugs instructions. It was a nice little scene.

Unfortunately it was about to be ruined. From out of the nearby woods a large towering monster known as a Deerclops stomped out and let out a roar before it headed towards the circus. The Deerclops had hoofs, clawed hands, antlers, and a single big eye. The other monsters and bugs saw the Deerclops and screamed and scattered. The tall bug narrowed his eyes at the Deerclops and was fixing to take action against the monster, but Shield Knight and Shovel Knight acted first.

Shield Knight tossed her shield at the Deerclops striking the monster in eye making it scream in pain and stumble back. Shovel Knight and Shield Knight ran at the monster as Shield Knight's shield returned to her. The Deerclops recovered and it let out a roar as it slammed it's claws on the ground making a bunch of ice spikes to shoot up at the knights forcing them to dodge to the side. Shovel Knight raced over to Shield Knight who raised her shield up to him. Shovel Knight did his pogo move and used Shield Knight's shield as a springboard to propel himself high into the air at the Deerclops. His shovel slammed down hard on the Deerclops's head making it crash to the ground with a heavy thud. Shovel Knight landed on the ground besides Shield Knight and the two of them faced the Deerclops. The Deerclops got up and quickly fled from the knights and into the woods. All the monsters and bugs cheered for the knights as the tall bug approached them.

"That was a marvelous act of heroism you displayed there. You really helped my troupe out." Said the bug.

"It was no problem. We are happy to help." Said Shield Knight.

"It's the duty of knights to protect the innocent." Said Shovel Knight.

"Well you have my thanks. I am Troupe Master Grimm and for your heroic services allow me and my troupe to put on a little show for you." Said the bug.

"That's mighty neighborly of you." Said Shovel Knight.

Grimm lead Shield Knight and Shovel Knight into the circus tent.

Back in the town Plague Knight and Tinker Knight entered a potion shop ran by a green ogre creature wearing a lab coat named Klungo and bought some potions before heading to Grillby's.

Over at Grillby's, Fern sat in a corner booth drinking a glass of water with a straw. Being a plant being, Fern wasn't a really big fan of cold places and was looking forward to going to some place warmer in the Underground. Fern also wondered when he would encounter Finn in the Underground.

In the woods Specter Knight and Black Knight were walking through the woods, when they heard a loud explosion in the distance and decided to go check it out. The two ran as fast as they could as they wondered what kind of threat they were about to face.
