Nine Months Past: Chopper met Ventus!

Winter Island, Castle

When Dr. Kureha finished telling the two about Chopper's dark past and the death of Dr. Hiriluk, it left Nami feel very sad for the reindeer. She now understands the reason why Chopper had a scar on his heart, meaning that she, he, and Ventus have the similar past and shared something in common, they lost to someone close to them; Nami lost her foster-mother, Bell-mere at the Cocoyashi village, Ventus lost his parents at Ishgard, and Chopper lost his father-figure, Hiriluk at this island.

"So, for the six years since then, Chopper's been studying medicine under you." Nami said with sympathy.

"Yeah, I've taught him everything I know." Dr. Kureha answered sadly. "He's been a good student."

"And what's the story with Ventus?" Sanji questions, earned her attention. "For what I see, he really likes him."

"Ah yes. And then, there was Ventus." Dr. Kureha said. "Ventus is the second who he really opened up to. He usually come here yearly with Freya and Fratley for training, but at the time, he came to this island on his own."

"What for?" Sanji asks.

"He came to conduct an investigation, wondering why there are no doctors on this country." Dr. Kureha explains. "So, he came to get answers."

Winter Island, 9 months ago

'It was nine months back when I was treating a patient and training Chopper. Ventus arrived on this island to conduct an investigation because of his work as a bounty hunter. He only heard about it from the people in a different island, but he went there to find out if it's true or not.'

Six years has passed after the death of Dr. Hiriluk and Dalton held captive, Ventus lands near at the river with his boat. He heads to the village called Bighorn to get some answers since he heard from the people on the other island about Winter Island having only 20 MDs and all of the doctors have been exiled. Ventus saw one of the villagers as he walk toward him, leaving one of the villagers look at the young Dragoon.

"Can I help you?"

"I came to get answers." Ventus answered. "I've heard the townspeople from the different island has only 20 doctors, but the rest have left the island."

The villager can tell that Ventus is new around here, but hearing right about the doctors as he sighed.

"Well, you've heard right. 20 MDs were kept inside at the castle and leaving the rest of the exiled."

"By whose authority?" Ventus inquires.

"Wapol, he set up a Doctor Hunt six years ago, he sent his soldiers to find them from the different village and take them to the castle, but he can only pick 20 for himself while leave the rest of them leave the island."

"Also, this island is well-known for development in medicine, but now it's nothing more than a charade and leaving all of us to suffer without any doctors. All 20 MDs were kept inside of the castle for medical research in the lab."

"And for worst part is, Wapol came up an outrageous law: Anyone who get sick or injured must come and beg for our lives if we want to help."

"And if we do that, he not only lent us 20 MDs, but he'll give us an excessive bill; a bill that we can't pay. He already knows we can't afford for something highly expensive."

With every information the villagers have given him, it got Ventus angry about Wapol's reign of tyranny and leaving his own people to suffer without any doctors since the Doctor Hunt. It was enough information for the young Dragoon when was about to head to the castle.

"There's also something you should know."

Ventus turned his head to one of the villagers, leaving one of them scared when they look at the angry look on his face.

"It's about Dalton."

"What about him?" Ventus questions.

"Dalton was the Captain of the Security Guard for this country. Before Wapol took over, the late King ruled this country with the amount of kindness but died long ago. The rule was supposed to hand it down to Musshuru."

"Musshuru?" Ventus repeats.

"Wapol's older brother. Musshuru didn't care about the rule or us, the rule is handed down to Wapol. And when that happens, everything changed."

"And the 20 doctors were kept in the castle while the rest are exiled?" Ventus inquires, putting two and two together.

"Yeah, but only two doctors stayed on this island and never been found. One was Kureha and the other is Hiriluk."

Ventus is now interested about the two doctors, wondering why they stayed and not getting caught by Wapol's soldiers.

"Can you tell me about the two?" Ventus asks.

"Dr. Kureha is an impressive doctor which we can't deny it, but she's eccentric and live for over 100s of years old. She only comes down from her home whenever she feels like it, looks around for patients, treats them, and before she leaves, she takes whatever she wants from our houses as payment."

Ventus then raises his eyebrow, wondering why Dr. Kureha would do something like that. Though, he had a pretty good idea about Dr. Kureha being a pirate because of the payment at someone's houses.

"The other is Hiriluk, he's one of the worst doctors because he makes it worse whenever we get sick or ill. We called him the quack because of his medical skills are not impressive at all."

"How long has he been a doctor?" Ventus questions.

"For 30 years, and he's still the worst doctor. But next we know six years ago, he died when he tried to come and save the 20 MDs."

"When we heard of the 20 MDs were ill, Dr. Hiriluk went up to the castle to try and save them. Wapol even told us that his death was all for nothing because of it."

Ventus was even shocked and surprised that Dr. Hiriluk tried to go and save the 20 MDs.

'Ventus was able to get the information what he needs, but he didn't get the full story about what had really happen to Hiriluk. He decided to head over to the castle on his own, he even asked the villagers where the castle is and Dalton.'

After asking the villagers where the castle is at, he was heading to the ropeways so the young Dragoon can get there and deal with Wapol and the group of soldiers himself. The villagers are wondering if Ventus is either brave to fight against them or very stupid. Soon as Ventus made his way at the ropeways while passing the villagers, Wapol's soldiers notice the young Dragoon is walking towards them, readied their guns.

"This is far as you go."

"I'm here to have business with your King." Ventus told them, leaving confused when they glance at each other. They then glance back at Ventus.

"And what do you want with Wapol?"

Ventus slowly looked at the soldiers when his dragon eyes are showing, anger expression on his face as he readied his lance.

"Death to your King." Ventus growled. "Spiral Blow"

Ventus starts moving after them, charging towards the gazebo as he strikes the soldiers, sent them flying and smack against the pillars, leaving them knocked out. One of them grunts as he was about to draw his weapon, but Ventus points his lance at him.

"Take me to the castle." Ventus ordered with a dragonic growl.

'It was quick work when Ventus beat those soldiers. With the way he fights and the way he wields his lance, Ventus is trained as a Dragoon which these knights are originated from Ishgard, and he's trained well. It's enough for him to get the tram running and have him head to the castle without any second thoughts. The villagers were stunned of Ventus' actions, but they're hoping for him to fight and win against Wapol.'

At the castle, one of Wapol's soldiers rushed to the throne room with panic, leaving Wapol and Musshuru wondering why the soldier is running, thinking it's something important.

"Lord Wapol, Prince Musshuru, we have an intruder coming this way! He's a bounty hunter and he's coming for your head!"

"What did you say?!" Wapol shouts with anger.

"That bounty hunter had the nerve to come to the castle and come for your head." Kuromarimo stated with a scowl. "Not to mention ours, too."

"Not only our heads, but he might come for your throne." Chess added.

"Not if I have anything to say about it!" Wapol shouts. "With my power of the Munch-Munch Fruit, I'll eat him up and spit him out!"

"Don't forget I ate the Spore-Spore Fruit, you tin-headed oaf!" Musshuru insults his brother. "You better leave some for me!"

With that, both Wapol and Musshuru starts bantering on who gets to fight Ventus first which it only leads nowhere, leaving Chess and Kuromarimo ordered the soldier to gather his troops and get ready to fight against the bounty hunter.

Ventus arrived at the top of the mountain, walking towards the castle but stopped when he saw Wapols soldiers, Chess, and Kuromarimo blocking the entrance. The young Dragoon figured that one of the soldiers told Wapol about him arriving at the castle. They then readied their weapons, aiming at him.

"This is as close as you get. Leave or die at your peril." Kuromarimo shouts with a warning, but Ventus won't back down as he readied his lance.

"Are you asking a death wish? Leave!" Chess shouts.

However, Ventus won't take their warning for granted as he charges after the soldiers, Chess, and Kuromarimo. They were about to fire at the young Dragoon, but he jumps high in the sky.

"Crashing Dive" Ventus lunge downwards while slashing, then spins and stomp to the ground, sent the soldiers flying and crashing them against the snow, knocking them out.

It left both Chess and Kuromarimo shocked of Ventus' power, but it won't stop them as the afro-man charges after him, readied his afro-like fist. Ventus turns his head to him, readied his lance.

"Puncture" Ventus charge after Kuromarimo, flings him up.

"Dragon's Fang" Ventus then flings his lance, impaling his shoulder as Kuromarimo screams in pain.

Ventus then flings him, sent him flying and smacked against the wall.

"Bastard! You'll pay for that!" Chess shouts in anger as he fires the arrows at him.

Ventus have caught the smell of flames coming from the arrows as he deflects them, jumps in the air.

"Sky Rave" Ventus then descends against Chess, impales him in the shoulder and slams him down to the snowy ground, knocking him out.

Ventus then continued heading towards the castle as he breaks the gates, making his way to the castle while fighting against the soldiers. Wapols soldiers weren't even able to land a single hit on the young Dragoon because of his trait of a dragon that gives him an advantage to hear and smell the enemies. Through every floor of the castle, Ventus fought his way towards the throne room when he breaks it, earned their attention.

"So, you're that bounty hunter who's after my head!" Wapol shouts, pointing his finger at the young Dragoon. "And not only that, you're after my throne, are you?!"

Ventus just gives him a silent respond, leaving Wapol and Musshuru grew angry because of the silent treatment he's given them.

"Well, aren't you gonna say something?!" Musshuru yelled, about had enough of the young Dragoon.

Ventus is still given them a silent respond, but the two have lost their patience as Musshuru is the first to charge after him with his quick speed.

"If you're not gonna talk, then I'll make you! Spin Drill" Musshuru transform his hand into a drill as he strikes, but Ventus managed to dodge.

"Sonic Thrust" Ventus then thrust his lance rapidly, given him multiple jabs and sends him flying towards the wall, knocking him out.

"You're wide open! Fool!" Wapol shouts as he use the Devil Fruit power to open his mouth, about the bite him.

Ventus turns his head to Wapol, spews fire at his mouth. It got Wapol scream while running out of the castle to find something to cool off which it'll keep him busy, at least for now. He then walk towards Musshuru when he groans as the young Dragoon points his lance at him.

"I'm gonna ask you once." Ventus growled. "Where's Dalton?"

Musshuru growled with a scowl, knew that he met his match which he won't give up that easily.

"Shade Dance" Musshuru makes his desperate move as he fires spore bullet at the young Dragoon with his hair.

Ventus dodges just in time, deflecting the spore bullets while jump back a bit.

"Cyclone" Ventus then fires the wind bullet against the spore bullets, causing them to explode and the smoke to appear.

Musshuru stood up, looking for the young Dragoon while ready to prepare another attack. Ventus merged out of the smoke, readied his lance.

"Stormblood Dragoon" Ventus then fires lightning projectiles at Musshuru, electrocutes him and knocked him out.

Ventus then walk towards him, grabbing his collar and spoke.

"I'm not gonna ask you again." Ventus said with a growl, no mood for games. "Where's Dalton?"

Musshuru knew that Ventus was able to outsmart him, but he was left no other options.

"We've held him in the prison cell, down to the first floor." Musshuru told him. "Wapol is down there, he'll be coming after you."

Ventus knocks him out, punched him in the face as he walks away from the throne room while heading down to the first floor.

'I'm counting on it.' Ventus thought.

Soon as Ventus head down to the first floor of the castle, he notices Wapol got his mouth cooled, but extremely furious when he saw his men got knocked out so easily.

"Don't think I'm gonna let you escape just because you've beaten my men, you bastard!" Wapol shouts, points his finger at him. "Thanks to you, my mouth is burned because of your flames! You defied me! Your own King! I'm gonna kill you for defiling your King!"

"I'll never serve the false King." Ventus muttered, looking at Wapol with anger. "Especially to a tyrant."

"Huh? So you can talk, but it's already too late since it's your last words!" Wapol stated as he charges after the young Dragoon, leaving him readied his lance.

"Lance Burst" Ventus charges after Wapol, kicks him upward.

"Rising Drive" Ventus leaps after him, twirling his lance and slams him up, causing Wapol to scream in pain.

"Spineshatter Dive" Ventus then dives, impaled him at the spine and slams him down to the ground, leaving his spinal cracked.

'After the confrontation, Ventus have won the fight at the castle with ease, and he rescued Dalton. The villagers were very happy that Ventus wins, but he doesn't have any interest on taking the throne nor become their King. He only came to find Dalton. He asked the villagers where he can find me.'

After Ventus asks some directions to where he can find Dr. Kureha, he takes Dalton to the outskirts of Gyasta into the forest, there he'll find the tree. He was able to catch the scent, meaning he's close to where he was going. Dalton groaned, opened his eyes as he scans the area, noticed that he's in the forest and being dragged away from someone as he turns his head to a young Dragoon.

"Who are you?" Dalton asks weakly.

"It's not important." Ventus answered, not telling his name. "I'm taking you to the doctor."

Dalton was about to protest, but they're already here when they saw a tree.

'So, that's where Dr. Kureha lives. After all these years, she's been hiding in the forest. It's no wonder those soldiers are having a hard time finding her.' Dalton mentally thought.

He then walk towards the door, opens it when both Dr. Kureha and Chopper turned their heads to the young Dragoon and former Captain of the Security Guard.

"He needs medical attention." Ventus told them, placing him on the recline bed and toss the money to them. "The group of soldiers will come for me soon. I'll head out and lead them out of the forest."

Dr. Kureha was about to ask a question, but Ventus already left the house, leaving them alone. Chopper then head to Dalton, looking through his wounds he's been inflicted. The reindeer can tell that Wapol have beaten Dalton after defiling him for the past six years.

"Doctrine." Chopper called her, earned her attention. "He's having some bad injuries along with those wounds from six years ago. Shall I begin the treatment?"

Dr. Kureha can tell that Dalton needs some serious medical treatment because of the injures, figured that he rebelled against Wapol and lost. They then begin the treatment since Ventus gave her payment for the medical fee which he never asked anyway.

When Ventus left the outskirts of Gyasta, he then sniffs the air which he caught the scent of Wapols soldiers along with Chess and Kuromarimo. He figured they're looking for him and these tracks are a dead giveaway. Ventus continued to head out of the forest, avoiding Dr. Kureha, Chopper, and Dalton getting caught in the middle of the fight. Soon as he got out of the forest, he saw Chess, Kuromarimo, and the group of soldiers coming this way.

"So, decided to reveal yourself instead of keep running away?" Kuromarimo asks with a smirk. "I thought you would put up more of a challenge to hide so we can find you and kill you, but you've decided to come out of hiding."

"Who said that I'm hiding?" Ventus rhetorically questions with a venom tone, showing his dragon eyes. "He's just in the way and I have to hide him from you fools."

It got both Chess and Kuromarimo glaring at the young Dragoon.

"The doctors are treating him right now and the last thing I want is to get them involved in a crossfire." Ventus told them, readied his lance. "Now that they're out of the way and out of sight from all of you, it's time that I go all out. NOW FACE ME!?"

With that, Wapol's soldiers, Chess, and Kuromarimo readied their weapons as they charge after him, leaving the young Dragoon charges after them while unleashing the Dragon Rage.

'The villagers from Gyasta heard the loud roar that's loud enough for them to hear, they went out to check it out. For what they saw, Ventus prevailed and won his second fight. They're regaining hope because Ventus' victory against Wapol's soldiers. So, Ventus decided to teach the entire people of this country to defend themselves against Wapol and his followers. Dalton was able to recover four months ago, and he decided to give Ventus some help by teaching them between weaponry and tactics since they have the advantage by using the trees to hide.'

After four months passed, Ventus and Dalton taught them weaponry and tactics so the villagers from the different village will defend themselves. Dr. Kureha and Chopper only arrived whenever one of the people are sick and needs treatment which most of them were sick. The villagers were able to learn quickly and form a group of resistance to fight against Wapol and his group of soldiers.

Of course, the group of soldiers are entering the villagers a month ago, but the villagers fought back and forced them to retreat. Wapol and Musshuru grew even more furious when he heard the villagers are fighting back, defiling their King. Dr. Kureha and Chopper heard of Ventus and Dalton given them hope for the villagers and for them to fight back, never fear against the King. They spar against each other, and the villagers are doing the same during training in order to get strong and fight against Wapol and his followers.

'I was able to treat the patient after hearing about the villagers fighting back against Wapol and his group. It's a huge relief to hear the villagers are getting stronger thanks to Ventus. A small group of pirates came and wanted me to join.'

The Blackbeard pirates arrived at the island, invading the village to gather the food they have and try to find Dr. Kureha so they can recruit her. They were able to find her along with Chopper. Ventus and Dalton heard that the pirates have invaded the village in Cocoa Weed and Wapol and his group have fled the island, they were able to find them, and Dr. Kureha had already finished the treatment when she saw the leader of the Blackbeard pirates and his small crew were blocking their path.

"Hey! Are you the witch we heard about?" He questions with a sneer.

"And if I am?" Dr. Kureha questions.

"I want you in my crew." He answered, demands. "I know I already had a doctor, but I need an expert to help him with his disease."

"You want me to join your crew, brat? Think again." Dr. Kureha refuses with a cackle. "I already have my hands full with all these patients on this island. Besides, I don't have any interest on sailing out to sea, it'll be a waste of my time."

"This isn't a request. It's an order!" He shouts with a retort as his crew starts ganging up on her. He ordered them to take her by force, but only to be attacked by a certain reindeer. "Where did you come from?!"

Chopper only responds in silent, but the leader of the Blackbeard pirates smirked with a sinister expression.

"No matter. If you want to protect your precious witch, I'll just have to kill you!" He snarled. "There's no need for a freak in my crew!"

"Chopper!" Dr. Kureha called out his name in horror.

Suddenly, Ventus jumped in and blocked his attack with his lance. Dalton did the same by blocking the pirates with his spade.

"Who the hell are you?!" He demands a question, but being pushed back by Ventus.

"Does it matter?" Ventus counters with a question. "You picked a wrong day to come here and start a fight, Blackbeard. Or should I say, Marshall D. Teach."

Blackbeard widen his eyes, stunned that the young Dragoon knew his name, but impressed at the same time.

"So, you knew my name? Well in that case, if you want to fight me, you have to go through my crew first." Blackbeard said as his crew gathered around and ready to fight.

"Coward." Ventus muttered with a growl, dilating his eyes into a dragon. Dalton steps forward, readied his spade.

"You're gonna need my help, Ventus." Dalton told him, leaving Ventus shocked. "I recognized those eyes of yours, they're a lot like your fathers. And you look just like him."

Ventus was even more shocked that Dalton knew his father, but he doesn't have the time to ask as he turned to Chopper.

"Hey, she called you Chopper, right?" Ventus asks, earned a nod from him. "Maybe you can help us, just to even the odds."

Chopper was unsure about his suggestion, but the young Dragoon did save him from Blackbeard's attack as Dr. Kureha cackled a bit and spoke.

"You should go and help them; they're going to need an extra hand." Dr. Kureha suggests, earned his attention. "That kid is given them hope, hope to fight Wapol and his group since months ago. Now is the time to fight those pirates."

Chopper knew that she was right, but he just doesn't know about the young Dragoon or if he could trust him. Chopper then walked next to the two, readied his fighting stance. They then clash against the Blackbeard pirates.

The battle was long and hard, especially when they're up against a marksman, a muscle-headed wrestler, a pale man with a hat and cane, and a sickly man with a sickly horse. It literally took hours to fight them, they managed to take the Blackbeard pirates out. Dalton, Chopper, and Ventus were very exhausted. Despite this, the young Dragoon still wants to take Blackbeard down.

"Hey, you and your group aren't bad." Blackbeard compliments.

"Only because they're starting to regain hope because of me." Ventus told him, pointing his lance at him. "This country has been ruled by a tyrant, who's filling this country with fear and misery. To make matters worse, you came here for no reason!"

"No reason?! I'm only here to get some supplies and recruit a witch!" Blackbeard retorts, but regain his composure with a smirk. "I have an offer for you. Why don't you join the Blackbeard Pirates? Surely, someone as strong as you want to be in a strong pirate crew. I'll even make you my First Mate, what do you say?"

Ventus didn't like his offer which it got him very angry, the villagers gasp at Blackbeard's offer, hoping the young Dragoon declines his offer. Dalton can tell that Ventus is going to have another fight.

"Do you think that I would join a coward such as you?! You got another thing coming!" Ventus shouts with his dragonic tone. "I will not join your crew! I'd rather die than join you and your crew, coward!? NOW FACE ME!"

"Then die right here!" Blackbeard declared with a shout, glaring at the young Dragoon.

And so, another fight begins. This time it's between Ventus and Blackbeard, who is the reason for invading the island. He was having a hard time fighting him because of Blackbeards Devil fruit called Dark-Dark fruit. That fruit allows him to control darkness and gravity, which it can absorb physical attacks, pulls his enemy, create either a hole or vortex, and it can nullify the other Devil fruit powers. Ventus was able to avoid a long-range attack, but the hard part is to land a hit on him. Ventus did land some hits on Blackbeard, but even got dished some punishment from him.

Hours later, they still kept fighting. Ventus is completely exhausted, and it looks like Blackbeard is too. He had a very little chances of using long range wind attacks because of Blackbeards nullify ability.

"It's over for you now." Blackbeard stated. "I'm giving you one last chance to reconsider my offer."

"And I said I won't you or your crew!" Ventus told him. "You're nothing but a coward who hides your crew and let them do your dirty work!"

"Be careful what you say, boy! Because it'll be your last!" Blackbeard shouts with anger. "Now die! Black World"

Blackbeard then use his Devil fruit power to cover the area, surrounding Ventus into a pitch-black of darkness and leaving him vulnerable and blocking his vision.

Despite this, Ventus won't give up so easily since he was able to rely on his other senses, sniffing the air and manage to catch his scent as he kept his ground, placing his lance on his back and raise his hand.

"Gungnir" Ventus then summons a legendary weapon that was once wielded by the chief of the Norse Gods, Gungnir. He then grabs it and throws his target.

When he throws Gungir, he heard a loud scream in pain and a loud thud. His vision is back and saw Blackbeard lying on the snow, impaled on the right shoulder. Ventus once again won his fight as he walks closer to him, grabbing the Gungnir and pulled it out as he was ready to kill him. But what stopped him is that the look on his eyes, begging for mercy. It showing him of how scared he was of the young Dragoon.

"Leave." Ventus growled, leaving him confused but the anger on the young Dragoons eyes won't falter. "I'm giving you a choice. Either you leave or die. If you choose to leave: No matter how much time pass, you will never set foot on this island ever again. Understand?"

That got Blackbeard and his crew shocked.

"Also, give back all the food and money that you stole from this country! Now! Or I will kill you!" Ventus shouts with authority.

With that, the Blackbeard pirates done what he ordered them too, gave back everything they took from the villagers back to them. Whether it's fear for death or not, he doesn't care, but Blackbeards crew took him and ran to their ship. Of course, it's obviously fear since Ventus did almost kill him, but decided to show mercy as they left the island.

"Boy! This isn't over! you hear me?!" Blackbeard shouts with anger, points his finger at the young Dragoon. "Remember this! I, Blackbeard, will not accept defeat! The next time we meet, I'LL KILL YOU!"

Ventus then lets out a dragonic roar at the sky, showing him no fear because he'll be ready to fight the next time they meet.

Once they disappeared and out of sight, Ventus collapses down to the snowy ground, fainted.

'These pirates have fled after giving the food and money back from the village. Ventus let out a dragon roar, sending Blackbeard the message he'll be ready when they first meet. As soon as they left, Ventus collapsed. All of the villagers, including Dalton, were watching the whole fight became worried about him. Believe it or not, I became worried about our savior. So, in exchange for helping us, I had Chopper carry him all the way to the castle so we can treat his wounds after hearing Wapol and his group fled. And I was surprised to know one thing about this boy.'

'What's that?'

'His heart isn't like a human at all. In fact, his heart is like a dragon.'

'What?! But that's impossible!'

'That's what I thought. Even Chopper is surprised about it too. I've tried to tend his heart, but that damn thing almost burned me along with my medical equipment. It has a mind of its own and that heart is defending itself. After the treatment, I did some research, trying to figure out if it's possible for a human to live with a dragon heart. In the end, it's impossible, unless he ate the Devil Fruit and turned his heart into a dragon. Dalton saved me the trouble, telling me that Ventus is a half-breed between a human and a dragon. Also, it doesn't have anything to do with the Devil fruit, it's in his blood and he's inherited his dragon traits, including the heart.'

The next day, Ventus regained his conscious as he slowly opened his eyes. He tried to get up, but winced in pain because his body is sore due to the fight against the Blackbeard pirates. He then recalled the events that happened, remembered training with the villagers and sparring against Dalton, followed the source from the Cocoa Weed, and fight against the Blackbeard pirates. He didn't remember being here in the castle.

Ventus then sat up once more, still winced while try to get up. He then heard a scream that sounded like a child, causing him to turn his head to Chopper, who's hiding behind a chair...the wrong way. Instead of hiding most of his body, he's only hiding his eye.

"Um...Hi?" Ventus said with an uneasy tone. "You do realize it's supposed to be the other way around, right?"

The reindeer seemed to have noticed it as he then switch to the other side.

"Well, it's too late because I can still see you." Ventus points out.

"Shut up, human!" Chopper shouts which it's unexpected, leaving Ventus surprised. "And how do you fell it?"

"You're talking!?" Ventus exclaims in shock.

His small outburst seemed to have surprised the reindeer as well, accidentally stumbled to the other room and hit in the head by a wooden mallet and knocked out by the medical equipment.

"Keep it down, Chopper!" The voice of Dr. Kureha shouts, entered the room with a smirk on his face. "Well, I see that you're awake. You happy?"

"How long was I out?" Ventus asks.

"For a whole day." Dr. Kureha answered simply. "You put up one hell of a fight against those pirates, including that brat. After the fight is over, you passed out and rendered unconscious. We even dragged you here at the castle."

Ventus then realizes why he's here, but notice Wapol and his followers aren't here anymore as he sniffs the air.

"There's no need to use your nose, Wapol and his group aren't here because they just left." Dr. Kureha explains. "They heard of the Blackbeard pirates invading here on this country and fled."

"Such cowardice." Ventus muttered with a growl.

"And I agree with you on this." The voice of Dalton said, entered the room. "I checked the entire castle and noticed Wapol isn't here."

Ventus turns his head to Dalton, who's leaning against the wall, crossing his arms.

"I've already told the villagers that you're taken to the doctor for treatment, you've taking quite a beating against Blackbeard. However, you saved are island and forced them to leave." Dalton told him. "And I knew you have the same traits of your parents."

It got Ventus widen his eyes, shocked that Dalton knew his family.

"You knew my parents?" Ventus questions, earned a nod from him.

"I knew your father, he's one of the well-respected Dragon King and shown the amount of kindness and respect to his kind and the people." Dalton explains. "Your mother is a well-known warrior from Ishgard. You look just like your father, and you've got your mothers eyes."

Dr. Kureha then cackle a bit, turns his head to the young Dragoon.

"Well, it would explain why his heart isn't any other humans at all." Dr. Kureha stated. "His heart is a dragon. His limbs are dragon scales and his wings on his back. I thought it's impossible for a human to give birth to a dragon, or in this case, a half-breed dragon."

"Well, I am a half-breed, a mix between a human and a dragon." Ventus told her.

"I see." Dr. Kureha said, turns her head to Chopper. "Chopper, go get more medicine since you're already in here"

Chopper managed to recover quick, stood up as he grabs the medicine for Ventus. She then turned back to the young Dragoon.

"And as for you, stay in bed. None of your wounds are healed yet, and I'm the only doctor here, aside from Chopper." Dr. Kureha told him.

"But I still have to leave soon, they'll be coming after me." Ventus protests, tried to stand up. "If I stay any longer, they'll be after me and kill me."

Dr. Kureha then lunged after Ventus, putting him back on the bed and placing the scalpel right next to his neck.

"When the patient leaves whether if they're cured or deceased." Dr. Kureha said with a grin, cackled a bit. "You're not going anywhere, boy, you better get use to it."

Ventus' face is paled as a white sheet of paper, knew she was right about his injuries due to the fight against the Blackbeard pirates.

"And just because I'm a doctor, doesn't mean I can't fight." Dr. Kureha added. "I'm actually strong, so choose wisely."

'Damn, if I make a wrong one, I'm done for.' Ventus thought as he sighed with defeat. "Fine, I'll stay."

'After that, he decided to stay until he's fully recovered. During his stay, he gave us an explanation about the reason why he has to leave the island. Of course, he told us about his past back from Ishgard 11 years ago, telling us about being treated like an outcast, the cruel treatment of his uncles, and witnessing the death of his parents right before his eyes. No child ever deserves such cruel treatment and for seeing something like this. I was even upset after what his uncles have done to him, even Dalton was grown enraged.'

Few months passed, Ventus is fully recovering and went towards the village to check on the villagers. Since his recovery, Ventus was able to get to know Chopper a little better and the reindeer is taking a liking to him. The two created a strong bond, but Dr. Kureha is starting to warm up to the young Dragoon. He even told them he grew up in Burmecia, trained by Freya and Fratley years ago. Dalton and Dr. Kureha knew that he told them everything and it's enough.

Chopper even told him about himself, treated as an outcast, met Dr. Hiriluk, try to help him because of his illness which it only made it worse due to the poisonous mushroom, and witnessed Dr. Hiriluk blew himself up. The only reason is that the quack came to the castle to help the doctors, but only to know that it was a trap made by Wapol. Of course, Wapol laughed at his death and Chopper was about to kill him, only to be stopped by Dalton.

Ventus felt the same after losing his parents, give him condolences for the loss of Dr. Hiriluk.

He sometimes went to the villages to check on the premises and the villagers which they're clearing the snow and relief to hear of his well-being. Even though, the villagers treated him as a hero and savior for saving the island from the Blackbeard pirates and having to fight off against Wapol and his group.

However, Ventus caught the scent from the air, notice the dragons from Dravania is coming for him. He left him a note at the castle since he doesn't have time to explain. Ventus then secretly left the island without saying a word to the villagers, Dalton, Dr. Kureha, or Chopper. He knows that they'll be very upset for not telling them. So, Ventus left the Winter Island without saying a word to everyone or the reason why.

That's it for the 21st chapter.
