Family of Two.
Chapter 8. Sick Linc.
(The Loud House.)
The kitchen seems to be busy and the reason is because of the 15 year old mother Luna, she turns off the stove, gets a bowl and pours in some of the chicken soup. She then puts the bowl on the tray and picks it up.
She heads out of the kitchen and heads to the stairs, she sees Great Grandma Harriet waiting at the top of the stairs and she goes up to her. "Lincoln still looking upset?"
"He is, I checked up on him and I saw him reading one of his comic books and he didn't seem pleased at all and then he proceeded to look at his phone and smile" replied Great Granma Harriet.
Luna sighs. She knows her son isn't feeling under the weather with this small cold building up. "Thanks for the info Great Grandma Harriet, I'll deal with this now."
Great Grandma Harriet nods and then heads downstairs. Luna heads to the bedroom and she uses her foot to open the door and then she sees him, her son Lincoln in bed who notices her. "Hey mom." He then sits up and smiles.
Luna smiles and comes in. "I got you some chicken noodle soup, orange juice and some cold medicine to help keep the early cold at bay and to make sure your feeling alright." She places the tray next to him and sits down onto the bed.
"Thanks mom, much appreciated" replied Lincoln, he sniffs a little. He then takes a sip from the chicken noodle soup and drinks his orange juice. "Sure wish my taste buds weren't feeling so messed up."
Luna could still see some of the bandages and stitches from yesterday, the very same day on why he got this cold now. She then hugs Lincoln. "I'm fine mom, really it's just the beginning of the cold. Nothing personal or critical. Also, I don't want you to catch this cold too."
Luna sighs. "The cold is not my concern son, it's what happened to you yesterday. I was so worried when you got missing and then I saw you all hurt and broken down into a mess by some dorky kid who you faced long ago and I don't want that to happen again, it makes me feel like I failed to keep you safe. Again." She then hugs Lincoln once more and kisses his forehead.
Lincoln knows how she feels, she's been like this since last night and he still recalls that she snuggled next to him in his sleep and cried, he did all he could to make his mom feel batter but it wasn't enough, seeing him looking weak and getting his butt beaten up and lobster clawed was a painful reminder to Luna of what happened months ago with the dreaded bad luck incident. Lincoln may be over the whole conflict, but it seems like his mom isn't. He has to do something to make her feel like her feel better.
Lincoln hugs her back. "Nothing bad is gonna happen mom, we're both okay now and we're not in trouble anymore." Luna remains hugging her son.
Downstairs, Great Grandma Harriet sees Luna's phone on the table. 'I cannot believe I am about to do this.' She grabs the phone and uses it to check on some modern day ways to cure early signs of the common cold, but then she hears the doorbell ring. 'Are we expecting company?'
She goes over to the door and opens it to see Jordan Rosato, and she was wearing a face mask. "Hey there Great Grandma Harriet, I heard about Lincoln being sick and I'm here to check up on him, my mom said it was okay just as long as I got this mask on me."
Harriet smiles seeing how much this girl cares about Lincoln. "First off, you can just call me Harriet. Also, Lincoln is upstairs in the room being tended by his mother. Did Lincoln tell you how he got the cold?"
"No, he didn't. Why? Did something happen to him yesterday?" asked Jordan with a face of concern.
Harriet sighs. "I think you should go upstairs and hear it from Lincoln and Luna, let's just say things almost went catastrophic when they went shopping at the High n' Buy! Store."
Jordan is confused by this. "Thanks for the info Harriet." She then heads up the stairs with questions running in her head, she wants to know what does the new supermarket have to do with his cold and what the heck was even going on.
Jordan then enters the room and she sees Luna watching Lincoln eat his chicken noodle soup. "Lincoln?"
Lincoln and Luna turn and see Jordan with a face mask on. "Hey Jordan, it's really nice to see you and I see you took precautions coming here" replied Lincoln with a slight smile.
"I could only guess your mom told you to wear that" said Luna with a smile.
Jordan walks in and sits onto the beanbag chair. "She did, how are you feeling Linc?"
Lincoln sniffs a bit and then he grabs a tissue and he blows onto it and then tosses it into the nearby trash bin. "They're just early signs of the cold, not the full common cold so I think I'll manage. Just as long as I get some bed rest and take my medicine and vitamin C."
"Oh, poor Lincoln" then Jordan gets something from her pocket. "I told my mom about your cold and she wanted me to let you take these, they're vitamin C tablets, they're in orange flavor."
"Wow Jordan, that's awfully sweet of you and your mom to do this" said Luna. "But I don't wanna take advantage of this from you guys, we can take care of this."
"No, I insist that you take the vitamin C pills" replied Jordan. "We wanna help you guys as best we can, we're all like a big family even to the family of two that you guys have." Jordan then places her hand onto Lincoln's hand and they look to each other and chuckle.
"Well, tell your mom I said thanks for all of this and that she's a nice person to care for my well-being, kinda like my mom" said Lincoln. This makes Luna happy and she hugs her son.
Jordan then hugs them both. Lincoln was happy they were there to help him, even though he doesn't need some help from them at the moment. "Can I finish my chicken noodle soup?"
They then break the hug. Jordan then asks Lincoln. "Lincoln, how did you get sick and what did happen to you and Luna that involved High n' Buy? Harriet told me about the place getting involved with this."
Luna and Lincoln sigh and then they tell her about what happened with Lincoln and some annoying kid he met long ago and the pain he went through.
Soon they finish telling her and Jordan goes wide eyed. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry you had to go through with that Lincoln." Then she has an angry expression. "I swear if I do see that punk again, I am going to make sure he regrets ever learning how to walk!"
Luna and Lincoln are a bit startled by this and also impressed. She really does care for Lincoln and his well-being. "Well, he won't be a bother to us since he's headed to a private school for troubled boys" replied Luna.
"But I am afraid that he might be just the stars" said Lincoln. Luna and Jordan look to him. "I may have some enemies I made back then, from Hank and Hawk, a couple of guys from the Girl Guru incident and of course that rich old man Tetherby, and if they find out about what's been happening to my life and the life I live in now. Then they might come after me, or better yet me and my mom."
Luna strokes his white hair. "You think I don't know that? I also had my worries about those things and I know you have some bad blood with some bad people and …. And I'm afraid of that, if they do come anywhere near us or even try something, then they'll have to get through me and I am not willing to give up so easily."
Lincoln feels bad about this and hugs Luna. Luna sheds some tears and hugs him back, they both are gonna be facing some trouble and some tough times, but they have to get through with it, together.
Jordan can see the pain and emotions they both have and she joins in on this hug as well. She was also not going to let them go down this road alone, she was going to help them with every fight they have to face. Though she was wondering about one kid who might end up bullying Lincoln when school begins. 'Chandler.'
Back downstairs, Great Grandma Harriet is back on Luna's phone and is going through some internet search results on curing early signs of the common cold, but then she hears another ring on the doorbell. 'Did Lincoln invite other people into this?' But whe she opens the door, Howard and Harold McBride pass right through her and head upstairs. "What the heck was that?"
Clyde then goes to her. "Sorry about that, my mouth slipped up! They asked me how Lincoln was doing and I accidently told my dad's he has a cold and now they're here!"
Harriet sighs. "Something stupid is about to happen, that I know of." Harriet and Clyde head upstairs to see what was happening.
Luna tucks Lincoln into bed, while Jordan cleans up his tray. "Just take it easy my child and then the cold will take its leave and head off to better pastures."
Lincoln and Jordan chuckle at what she just said. "Thanks for this mom" Lincoln then looks to Jordan. "And thanks for being here to check up on me Jordan, this means so much to me and I am looking forward to when we can go on another date."
Jordan smiles and blushes hearing this. "I look forward to it as well, now rest up and like your mom said let the cold take its course and leave the body naturally. Once you're all cured then we can have dinner or just hang out." Both kids chuckle at this, and shyly blush.
Luna smiles seeing this. 'Looks like Lincoln's love life is going to look pretty great' Then the door is opened and they see who it was, though Luna doesn't look back, because she knows who they are and this whole scenario looks familiar. 'Here we go.'
Harold and Howard McBride see the white-haired eleven year old boy in bed. "Oh my goodness, are you alright Lincoln? We heard what Clyde told us and we decided to come over and see for ourselves!" said Harold.
"And our angel was not lying, you do have a cold" said Howard. He then puts the large bag down and grabs some things. "But not too worry, we got all the things you may need to make this cold fade away in no time."
"We got the humidifier, the de-humidifier, some cough drops, a couple of thermometers, Vitamin C tablets, an inhaler in case you have trouble breathing, heating blankets, an ice bag and some allergy pills in case the cold triggers some unwanted allergic reactions" said Harold as he places all the things onto the table.
"This room needs to be cleaned, a cold could easily make its home here and spread like wildfire" said Howard as he moves some of the instruments out of the way and into the corner.
"We may also need to make sure the temperature in this room is going to be at the proper degree, luckily the humidifier and the dehumidifier will do just the trick" said Harold as he plugs them in.
"And we need to make sure that the window doesn't bring out not too much and not too less sunlight, just enough to give out some sunlight for this room" said Howard as he slightly closes the curtains.
Clyde and Harriet then arrive and they see the madness already beginning. "Oh boy, here we go again! This I going to be just like the hospital from months ago."
Harriet looks to him. "What?"
Lincoln did not like the look of things, same with Jordan. She found this annoying as well. Then they see Luna not looking at the McBride's, she was just sporting the same comforting smile while looking to her son.
Clyde and Harriet also notice this and they know it's about to spiral into anarchy at any moment.
Harold and Howard then go to Luna. "Luna, we would like to ask what's the name of the doctor you took Lincoln to, if not then we can recommend a private doctor that we trust whenever Clyde is feeling unwell" said Howard.
But Luna doesn't respond. She then gets up, opens the window to the way it was, put's some of the instruments back to its place, she plugs off the humidifier and the dehumidifier and then she grabs all the McBride junk and she puts them all into the bag.
"Luna? What are you doing?" asked Harold.
She then zips the bag and tosses it back to Howard. "Luna? What are you doing?!"
Luna then sits next to Lincoln, kisses his forehead and then gives him a hug. "You feeling better Lincoln?"
"I know that things are about to turn crazy real fast real soon" replied Lincoln as he looks back and forth between Luna and the two McBride's. Jordan backs way slowly with the tray.
Luna smiles and strokes his hair. "Don't worry, I'll make sure they either leave with their tails between their legs, or get the beating of a lifetime."
The McBride's are shocked to hear what she just said, they then finally notice her purple axe, in her … hand. Oh no.
"Umm, Luna. We can be reasonable and talk this through" said Harold. "Like adults."
"We understand that you don't need our help, but we can help you and Lincoln" said Howard. "You're new to this parenting thing and we can give you some advice on how to do it better."
Luna doesn't look to them. "You two don't even know how to help me or my son, and you two don't know what he likes, what he feels or what he's been through, he is not like Clyde and he never will be!"
That was a shot to the heart for them, though Clyde understand this and agrees with Luna. "They're right dads, Lincoln is not like me and you two have to stop treating things like this with other parents and their kids! You're just getting on their nerves and making me more of an outcast at school, I fear one day that if you guys keep doing this I might end up having no friends at all, especially losing my friendship with Lincoln."
Lincoln wanted to say something, but then he realizes. "Clyde is not wrong, a lot of kids make fun of him because of you two always pestering about his conditions and helping him get better, it's really, really humiliating. But unlike you two, Luna cares for me after all I've been through and fully understand the situation at hand. I don't see Clyde in my place when all of this happened. No offense buddy."
"None taken Lincoln, and I totally understand" replied Clyde, but then he looks miserable. "Sure wish my dad's would understand."
Howard and Harold gasp hearing this. Then Luna snickers. "I'd listen to your kid, he seems to know more than you two. He's growing up just like my kid, and when they grow up they change and they learn that thing around them are going to be different. Change is good, so stop holding Clyde back."
"What?! We do not hold Clyde back" said Harold.
"Actually, you guys seem to do that. A lot" replied Clyde. "And I find it annoying." Clyde then puts on a face mask and goes over to Lincoln. "How are you feeling buddy?"
"Well, with all that's been happening I think the cold is going to be scared out of me, but I am doing pretty well" replied Lincoln.
Clyde then looks to Luna. "Luna, I am so sorry about my dad's?"
"Not your fault brah, your dad's need some lessons when it comes to understanding how your kid feels, now I know how all the other parents around town feel about them as well as the restaurants the supermarkets, the cops, the doctors, the mayor and the teachers" replied Luna. "They really are gonna get migraines from them."
Howard and Harold were both stunned, everyone in town finds them annoying. Clyde sighs. "Let's just hope I don't become an outcast who ends up living with his dads in the basement."
Lincoln feels bad for Clyde, so does Luna. But then Jordan steps in. "Whatever happens Clyde, do not let them overrule you, you're your own person and you have the rights to choose what you want and need and certainly you do not need to be treated like a fine piece of silver wear on the shelf."
Clyde shakes hands with Jordan. "Thanks for the tip Jordan, I see why Lincoln and you have a lot in common. You two seem to be good at planning and some words of advice, no wonder why the gang sees Lincoln as our leader."
"Anytime McBride, anytime" replied Jordan.
Lincoln is confused at what Clyde said. "I'm a leader?"
Clyde looks to Lincoln. "We'll talk about it when you get well, in the meantime try and get some rest and get better soon." He then looks to his dad's we should head on home, now!"
"B-But Clyde, we sh-should be helping him!" said Howard.
"He's you're friend and also that means he's family too" said Harold.
Clyde sighs. "I didn't have to do this, but I think it's time you guys left with your tails between your legs." He then looks to Lincoln, Luna and Jordan. "Guys, do not look at what is about to happen!"
Jordan turns around, Luna hugs Lincoln and they both close their eyes. Clyde then looks to his dad's. "You know what to do Harriet."
"Certainly." She places her hands on their shoulders. When Howard and Harold turn around they see the ghost opening her mouth wide and her eyes hollowed out, followed by a heinous scream.
Outside, Harold and Howard race out of the house and head into their car, then Clyde follows them with Harriet behind him. "Even though that was mean, it seemed like the best way to get them out of here, before they do anymore damage to the sanity of Lincoln and Luna, thanks Harriet."
"It was my pleasure, like when I scared Lucy and Lynn Jr into fear and submission." replied Great Grandma Harriet.
Clyde did not need to know anymore and heads back to his dad's and they drive off. Detective Sandra Merris is in her backyard and was about to get to her car and she saw and heard everything. She then looks to the ghost. "The McBride's?"
Harriet nods. Merris sighs. "Of course they were up to something, glad you scared them off, and now I got something else to report to the station and possibly to Mayor Davis." She then gets into her car and she drives off.
Back inside, Luna closes the door to the bedroom and sighs. She then looks to Jordan. "Sorry you had to be part of that chaos."
Jordan smiles. "No worries, just as long as I was there to give some of my words to Clyde to keep his dad's from going overboard again, though I fear they might be back to try and reason with you and Lincoln. They say that they're family, but they haven't seen or even understood what you and Lincoln have been through, but I have."
Luna then hugs Jordan. "And that's what makes me happy that my kid found his true heart with someone who was there when he was at his most vulnerable! Thank you Jordan."
Jordan also hugs her back. Harriet sees this and she smiles, she then grabs the tray with the empty bowl and glass and she heads back downstairs.
Soon, Jordan heads back home and Luna gets onto the couch and calms down. She then sees her phone and notices. 'Why was my phone on Google Search for cures on early signs of the common cold?' Harriet sees this and slowly backs up into the kitchen.
Luna then goes on to see what Sam was up to and texts her about what was happening. Luna had a lot of things on her plate, but she was willing to make it all right and ensure this family endures, whatever it takes.
Luna then checks on the TV and sees that a riot has started at one of Royal Woods Juvenile Detention Hall, she then sees Lori in the footage trying to solve this problem and she was helping one of the guards get out of the fight. Luna smiles seeing this. "Looks like Lori's trying to change and regain that lost big sister vibe."
Luna feels bad that the family has been torn apart and that they all won't be sharing anymore crazy adventures, but she knows that there was no going back now, then she has an idea. 'When Lincoln is al better from this cold, we should go and visit Leni, or Luan. To see how their doing after some weeks of being put away.'
She then turns off the TV and decides to go upstairs and check on the surveillance systems.
A/N: There will be an incoming visit chapter, to see how either Leni or Luan are doing, but I think I'll start with Leni, but at the same time there will be a big surprise for Luna and Lincoln when they get back home. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
