Chapter 13: To visit a Great Aunt.
(The Loud House.)
Luna is putting on her shirt and then she fixes her hair and looks to the mirror and sighs. She doesn't look as happy as she normally is and she's usually happy since she's the mother to her brother. But not today, I mean she likes being Lincoln's mom, but there is another reason why she is upset today.
Luna then sits on the bed and looks down in misery. The date last night was awesome and she and her son enjoyed it, but when they got home and she checked her phone all the smiles from the face of Lincoln and Luna faded into shock and anger.
The message she got was from Pop-pop. "Hey Luna, Ruthie called me and asked if you two can come over to visit her, she wasn't able to get in contact with your house phone for some reason." And they can't turn this down, they have to go and see her. Dang it!
Luna then sees the door open and Lincoln come in all dressed up and looking miserable as well. "Do we have to go mom?"
Luna sighs and gets up and she places her hand onto her son's shoulder. "We have to son, she's family and she wants us to come and visit and help out as best we could. This day is not gonna go so great for the both of us."
Lincoln just had the night of his life with the girl who might one day become his girlfriend and now it's being torn apart from the happiness to down town misery zone. "Fine, I …. I just don't know whats gonna happen if we go there mom."
"Well, she might want us to feed her cats, clean her cat, clean out their litter box, vacuum the house, dust the place and ….. Give her cats a bath!" said Luna as she does not like any of them. "And the worst part." Luna swallows her vomit. "Rub her bunions and massage her toes, even the extra one."
Lincoln also did not like that one, both of them didn't want to do anything with her or even get involved in whatever disgusting thing she has for them. But she's family and Pop-pop sister and they can't turn this down.
"But, I have a plan" said Luna. Lincoln looks to his mom. "Should something go wrong, then that's when I take action and stand up to her. I got this Linc, let's see if she can at least show some sympathy to the fact we're just a small family now. But if she starts handing us chores she can do herself along with the expired food, then I'm calling the cops."
Lincoln smiles. "Okay mom, we see if she's not going to be like she used to be and maybe we can see her and trust her." They then make their way out of the room and through the halls. But then they stop and see the room of Lucy and Lynn open and they spot Great Grandma Harriet going through Lucy's books.
They both go into the room. "Great Grandma Harriet, what are you doing?" asked Lincoln.
"Trying to look for a way for me to break from my binding to the house so I can follow you two, I am not letting you two go to Ruth's house alone and I am not letting you two eat whatever garbage she has been keeping and not changing out. There has to be something in here! Where is my book?!"
They both know she also hates the woman who is now known as Ruth, as she said Ruth was always reliant on others and also at times kind. But the kind part is something they don't see any more and all they see is an old woman, with cats, no retirement moving and places all the chores onto her own family.
"Well, we hope you do find an answer" said Luna. "We're gonna get going now."
Harriet gets up and looks to them. "Are you two sure you're going to be fine? Don't you need someone to escort you both? What about the detectives?"
"Great Grandma, mom has a plan. We got this, trust us" replied Lincoln. He then picks up one of the books and hands it to her. "Just …. Try and keep searching for what you need, we know you'll find it."
Harriet smiles. "Very well then, just be safe and should things go awry then use the plan or better yet call Albert. Don't let her guilty tripping make you feel bad, it's her way of trying to get some attention."
Lincoln and Luna nod and they head down the stairs and out the door, they then get into Luna's car and they drive off.
Great Grandma Harriet then goes back to searching through the books for the one book with the answers she needs. "Where is it?! Where is it?! Where in the hell did Lucy put my book?!" Her anger then makes all the books float and fly around the room and hit the walls. Harriet then calm down. "I need to fo to the places around the house where Lucy goes to, vents, basement and attic. We renovated the whole house, so how come I didn't see anything?" She then goes through the wall and begins her search for her "Harriet's Book on the paranormal."
(Great Aunt Ruth's house.)
The purple Ferrari stops and Luna and Lincoln look to the house. They both sigh and look at each other. "You ready for this son?"
Lincoln looks to the house. "No, but we have to go in anyway. So, let's get this over with." They both get out of the car and walk towards the house.
Lincoln and Luna look to the lawn. "How come she has time to trim her lawn and water her plants but doesn't have the freaking back bone to even do her inside house chores?" asked Luna, she was confused at how she can deal with outdoor stuff, but not indoor stuff.
"Maybe when she goes back into the house she magically gets pulled to her chair and becomes stuck until the end of time" chuckled Lincoln. They both chuckle at that silly and dumb theory.
They are now standing in front of the door and sigh. Luna knocks lightly. "Aunt Ruth, it's us. Lincoln and Luna. You there?"
"Doors unlocked! Come on in!" yelled Aunt Ruth. Lincoln and Luna open the door and step into the house.
When they step into the hall a cat jumps out of nowhere, but Luna pushes Lincoln aside and the cat lands onto the ground and runs off. Luna looks to Lincoln. "Are you okay Lincoln?"
Lincoln nods and pants after almost getting ambushed and clawed by a cat. "I …. I think so. We just have to be careful."
"Luna, Lincoln. Stop messing around with my cats and come in here please" said Aunt Ruth.
Luna did not like the way she spoke, normally she would listen to Aunt Ruth when she told them to do something they did not like, but now that Luna has the mother role. She can stand up to those who tried to harm her and her kid from the past and sire as heck she's not going to let Ruth take over their life.
Lincoln holds Luna's hand and they both enter the living room and they see her, sitting on her chair was none other than Aunt Ruth. Pop-pop's older sister, by one year. "Glad you two came, now my house could use some vacuuming and three of my cats are close to starting a fight and I do not want them to hurt themselves. Could you to help me out?"
Luna looks to Lincoln. "You handle the vacuum, I'll get the cats." She then hands his a face mask and gloves to avoid any known and unknown diseases that might be on the cats and around the house.
Lincoln nods and he goes to the closet and grabs the vacuum, he ducks when another cat almost lands onto him. "Way too close!" He then grabs the vacuum and starts cleaning the floor.
Luna manages to spate the cats with a push broom and a mop, three of the cats then scatter away and hide someplace else. "That's done, so what's next?"
"The pictures and some of my knick knacks could use some dusting and the stairs could also use a good sweep" replied Aunt Ruth.
Luna sighs. "On it." She goes over to the closet and she gets some of the cleaning stuff and gets to it. Some part of Luna thinks that whenever they come over to visit, Rita fails to see how miserable her kids are and enjoys talking to Aunt Ruth, and since Rita is no longer here it seems like she's just going to put a lot of work onto Lincoln and Luna. Luna feels as if Ruth may hate them.
Soon, Lincoln and Luna finish all the chores. "Okay, we did it. The house is vacuumed and all your stuff is cleaned and sweeped" said Luna.
"Good, here are the rest of things you guys can do." Aunt Ruth puts the remote away and hands them a list of other chores and they are hard.
Lincoln and Luna's right eye twitches and they were close to a boiling point. "Fine." Luna looks to Lincoln. "Let's split up the chores, I'll handle the tough ones and you can handle the light ones."
"But, I don't want you to do this alone. I wanna help you mom" said Lincoln with concern.
Luna removes her mask and kisses his forehead. "I'm the parent around here and clearly the real hard working adult, your safety is my priority and don't worry this'll all be over soon." She then puts her face mask back on. "Come on kiddo, let's get to those chores."
Lincoln sighs. He doesn't want his mom to do this, but he has no choice but to go with it. "Let's do it." They both look to the long list and start.
Luna – Clean the gutters, check on the AC unit, clean the bathroom, clean out underneath Ruth's bed, change the cats litter boxes and give all the cats a bath.
Lincoln – clean all the windows, take out the trash, feed the cats, wash the dishes, wash the clothes, and disinfect the areas that may have insects and other parasites.
Luna wanted Lincoln to do less of the work, but he was insistent of doing them, all of them. Luna got more concerned when Lincoln wanted to help Luna wash the cats, there are a lot of cats and Lincoln didn't want her to do this chore alone.
Though trying to deal with the cats and giving them their baths was not easy and they ended up with some scratches. When it was all done, Luna tended to her son's scratches on his arm and face. She could tell it all hurt, and she didn't like to see her boy getting scratches all over. Luna only has a few scratches to her arms, but she was fine.
Almost all the chores were painful to do and not easy to handle, then came the one chore they did not like to do and it doesn't even count as a chore. Massaging Ruth's bunions, and they had to do it without the rubber gloves and all while Ruth shows them some slides of her cats and what they did recently.
Ruth promised them she has some food for them to eat. Luna recalls that whenever Rita and the family visit, she has tea with Ruth while the kids eat whatever expired food she has. There was no way Luna was going to let Ruth feed her son something that could kill him. But Luna and Lincoln did wonder, how in the hell is Lana alive from eating so much of the expired food?!
Luna looks to Lincoln who was trying to keep his cool while rubbing her foot, Luna took the one with the extra toe for him. "And this is Jerry, he started to learn how to pounce at mice three weeks ago. What a good boy and this one is little mike he just learned what a yarn ball is, isn't that cute?"
Lincoln and Luna just ignore her and do what they were doing with her feet. "Lincoln, get me some more lemonade and make sure there isn't any pulp in it." Lincoln sighs and he takes the glass and heads into the kitchen. Luna continues to rub Ruth's foot.
But then she hears Lincoln screaming. "Lincoln!" She gets up and gets to the kitchen and sees Lincoln trying to fend of the cats who were attacking him. Luna gets a broom and scares off all the cats from her son and he goes down to the ground and a rat leaves his shirt and runs off, with the cats chasing.
Luna goes over to Lincoln. "Son! Are you okay?!" She can see Lincoln trembling and shedding some tears.
"I …. I …. I opened the ….. The cabinet and ….. And … And this rat, it came and … The …. The cats!"
Luna then hugs Lincoln and sees he has more scratches on him and a cut to his left arm. "Did the rat bite you?"
"N-No, it … it just ….. Went around me ….. The …..Cats." Luna then hugs Lincoln and does her best to comfort him, Lincoln starts to shed tears and he hugs Luna for dear life.
"It's okay Lincoln. I'm here, they're gone now." Luna rocks back and forth as Lincoln hugs her tightly.
Aunt Ruth comes in with some of her cats. "What the heck is going on in here?"
Luna then looks to her in anger. "You're cats is what happened?! You're stupid unclean kitchen had a rat and now my son is hurt from your cats!" She then strokes Lincoln's hair.
"My cats? They were just doing their job, my kitchen is clean" replied Aunt Ruth, she then sees the mess of cans and broken glass. "And this mess in the kitchen has to be cleaned up."
"My kid is hurt and crying his fears out! He's what matters now!" Luna then helps Lincoln up. "We're calling Pop-pop, he needs to know about this." Luna looks to Aunt Ruth. "All of this."
"Hang on there Luna, there is no need to bring my brother into this or anyone" Aunt Ruth blocks her way.
Luna looks to her with a shotgun glare. "Out of the way Ruth, I'm taking my son home, I'm calling Pop-pop and I'm sure he'll get some people to fix this mess you call a house!"
Aunt Ruth sighs. "Luna, I know you hate coming here and I know that ever since you and the others always come here. But we do not need to deal with this and the authority, we can settle this without getting Albert or the authorities, let me make you and Lincoln a deal."
"No." Luna then picks up her son and she moves Ruth out of the way.
"Luna! Stop! We can talk about this!" Ruth tries to go after them. They are now outside and Luna also pulls out her phone.
"Hello, Pop-pop its Luna. We're here at Aunt Ruth and Lincoln got attacked by her cats. Yes, he's hurt and crying! Seriously! Why do we even bother coming here?! This is why Harriet doesn't want us to come and see Ruth ever again! Just get down here, Lincoln and I will be waiting."
Luna then opens her car door and she lets Lincoln sit. She then goes to the dashboard compartment and grabs a first aid kit. She then sees Ruth coming out of the house. "Oh great, she's here." Lincoln looks away from the woman and her cats, he also sees the cats who attacked him also approach.
"Luna! Please, don't do this!" begged Aunt Ruth.
"Pop-pop's coming and I'm sure he'll have some people with him" replied Luna.
Just then they spot two Camaro's arriving and coming out is Detectives StoneHeart and Merris, and with them are two men in Hamza suits, two men from the vet and Pop-pop.
"Ruth! What have you done?!" said Albert as he looks to her.
"Albert, it wasn't my fault" said Ruth. "Lincoln, he was startled and my cats and this rat and it wasn't my fault, you have to believe me."
Albert and the two detectives and the officials look at the cats and the outside of the house. "Guys, move in" said StoneHeart. The 4 officials go into the house and are shocked at the condition of cats everywhere.
"Sir, this place has a lot of cats to count and who knows what kind of disease this place is crawling with, we also have to check on all the cats for any signs of disease and known viruses, we'll need to call in backup." One of the men pulls out a radio and calls in some reinforcements. "We also got some unclean areas that haven't been noticed around the house, this whole place is a disease infested hell hole."
Ruth looks to Albert. "Albert, please I can fix this. It ….. It … You have to help me please!"
Albert goes over to Lincoln who is being tended by Luna and detective Merris. Merris checks his temperature and has to give him a shot just in case something from those cats and the rat did give him something horrible.
"You're lucky I also took in training in medical procedures, but we'll have to take him to a hospital to check for anything that place has been infested with" Merris looks to Luna. "Same with you kid." Luna nods, she knows they have to get checked up.
Albert looks to Lincoln and Luna and they look to him. "Kids, I ….. I'm sorry about this. I should've seen this coming, but she's my sister and …. I should've known better."
Luna and Lincoln knows he feels bad about this. "Pop-pop, we can't be mad at you, this wasn't your fault." Luna looks to Ruth. "It was her, and she let you get into your head, Pop-pop you have to stop trying to feel pity and helping her and get her some real help. She's more of a danger to others than she is to us."
Lincoln then looks to Merris. "We ….. We also need to …. To do a medical checkup, on the others." They understand that when he means other's he means the former louds, all of them have been into Ruth's house countless of times and who knows what they got, especially Lily.
Merris makes the call to some friends of hers. Luna closes the door to her car and looks to Albert. "Pop-pop, talk to her and get things straightened out, before we have another family member locked up." Albert nods. Luna then looks back. "Stand up to her, don't feel bad about what she's doing to others. Feel bad because she hasn't been helping herself." she then closes the door and drives off with Merris following behind.
Albert then looks to Ruth. "We need to talk!"
Then one of the hazmat guys came out and shows them the jar of pudding. "Sir this expired in the late 18oo's." StoneHeart and Albert look to Ruth. Then some cars with animal control and a cleanup crew arrives.
"I … I can explain!" said Ruth nervously.
"Explain it to her." StoneHeart then goes to his car and he pulls out a piece of wood from the loud House and he hands it to Albert.
A form manifests from the piece of wood and reveals. "Mom?!" Ruth backs away from the appearance of the ghost of Harriet, looks like she found a way to leave the house. Bring a piece of the old house with you and she will follow.
"Hello my daughter Ruthie, we have a lot to talk about!" StoneHeart escorts Ruth back into the house, with Albert, Harriet and the cleanup crew following behind. Ruth knew she was in trouble, but she never thought her mom would come back, with a piece of home.
(Royal Woods Hospital.)
Lincoln and Luna are both sitting on the bed and are being checked up by Dr. Kendrick. "Well, there are no signs of any disease or viruses. You two are clean and those cuts and scratches will heal in time."
"Thanks doc" replied Luna. Merris is also greatful they were fine.
Lincoln then looks to the other bed. "Is she sick with something?" They look to the other hospital bed and sitting on it is none other than Lucy and her mom and big sister Maggie.
"Lucy is fine, she has no signs of any disease from that cat infested house" replied Dr. Kendrick. "I'm honestly shocked you guys haven't caught anything bad and spread the disease to anyone, we're also sending word of this to the locked up places where the others are located so they can have their checkups and be informed why and who made the call for this."
"Thanks doctor" they all replied.
Dr. Kendrick smiles. "All a part of my job, and at this point I'm gonna become the private doctor for you two." Lincoln and Luna chuckle at that one, though he is kinda right. He then takes his leave and lets them talk.
Lucy gets off the bed and looks to Lincoln and Luna, they then approach each other and hug. "At least you're okay Luce" replied Lincoln and Luna.
Maggie and her mom were greatful that they weren't upset or distraught with Lucy anymore. "Luce." The Goth girl looks to Lincoln. "We should talk, all three of us tomorrow. At the park, is that okay?"
Lucy looks to her mom and sister and they nod. Lucy looks to Lincoln and Luna. "I have no plans tomorrow, so I'll go."
A/N: Aunt Ruth will be punished and it will all be explained on the next chapter, I will also make the next chapter about Lincoln and Luna's talk with Lucy. Leave a Review and tell me what you all think.
