I had to take a two week stop at making future chapters of this story and to focus on other chapters for "Spells and Louds" and "A Sparking Relationship" This takes place after the whole incident with Lincoln and his Appendix, and thanks again to ko777. Enjoy folks.
Family of two.
Chapter 32: After Surgery.
(Royal Woods Hospital.)
Right now, Lincoln Loud is getting his shoes back to his feet and then he puts on his orange polo and then his purple hoodie. He recalls what happened to him last night. The pain, his mother crying and the whole surgery aftermath.
Lincoln looks to the time and he sees that it was now past 1 o'clock. 'School is still going, but it's too late for me to go there.' He then puts on his watch and grabs his wallet.
Just then the door opens and he sees who was coming in, it was his mom. "Hey son." Luna goes over to her boy and she hugs him. "You feeling alright? No sores? Pains? Anything nauseas?"
They then break the hug. "I'm fine mom, the pain is gone. Though a part of my right side is somewhat irritating and it'll be some time before I can get a good feeling there. But, why aren't you at school mom?"
Luna then picks up her son and she sits onto the bed and places Lincoln onto her lap. She strokes his hair and hugs him.
"Lincoln, before you woke up. Sam and I talked about something's, so she went off to our house to get us some fresh clothes and then she made some calls and contacted Huggins and Rivers and told them that the two of us will be out of school until you recovered, Sam even called your friends and Jordan and chances they'll come to the house to see if you're doing fine."
Lincoln is stunned by this, and he gets off his mom's lap and sits next to her. "Mom, you didn't have to stay. You still had your school to go to, and your friends and the others."
"And leave you here by yourself to be alone and scared of something happening? I wasn't going to have that, not now and not ever!" Luna then calms down, but then she looks to her son sternly.
"Lincoln, why didn't you tell me that you were feeling this pain? Why didn't you tell me it was getting worse?! We could've avoided this! We could've stopped the pain from getting worse!"
Lincoln could see the tears in his mother's eyes, Luna was feeling anger, confusion, fear and total sadness. Lincoln now sees he made things kinda worse and now his mom is worried even more. 'I should've told her, I should've told mom about the pain.'
Lincoln then looks down in sadness. I-I'm sorry … I'm sorry mom, I thought that … That the pain w-was nothing, that it … it would be no-nothing. I'm so sorry for m-making you s-so worried m-mom!" Lincoln then starts to cry as he sees his mistake in not telling his mom sooner.
Luna now feels bad, she made her son cry and feel ba for not telling her. Luna then goes over and hugs her son and does her best to calm him down.
"Linc, I'm sorry for being angry. I was just so worried about what happened" Luna continues to hug and comfort her crying son. "Don't cry Linky, I'm here now and I'm not angry anymore. Just … Just don't hide anything painful from me. Let me help you, please."
Lincoln continues to sob into his mother's shirt. "O-Okay mom. Okay." He hugs her tight and continue sot cry. Luna rubes his back and rocks him back and forth, he soon calms down and they break the hug.
Lincoln looks to his mom with some tears. "I'm sorry for not telling you mom, I'm so, so sorry."
Luna wipes away his tears. "It's alright Lincoln. You didn't know, and neither did I. The good thing is, you're alive and well and I'll always be here for you my child." She then kisses his forehead and then both his cheeks.
"Now come on, I think it's time we headed home now." Lincoln nods and he gets off the bed with his mom, he holds her hand and they head out of the room.
As they head down the halls they see someone familiar. "Hey kids, you feeling alright Lincoln?" asked Dr. Kendrick, he has some blood on him.
"I am, though some part of my right side is feeling kinda uncomfortable. But I know it's from the aftermath of the surgery and I'll try to manage" replied Lincoln.
"Very well then." Dr. Kendrick then looks to Luna. "Keep an eye on Lincoln, and be sure to see if he shows any signs of stomach cramps or other internal pains, they could be signs of aftermath surgery from removing his appendix."
"Will do doc. also, what's with the blood stains on your clothes dude?" asked Luna. Lincoln and Luna look to his stained clothes.
"Oh this? This isn't blood, they needed help at the kitchen and some of the spaghetti sauce spilled on me" replied Dr. Kendrick. "Well, I'll let you two head on home, and keep an eye on your son for any signs of internal issues."
They then go their separate ways, Luna and Lincoln head to the front desk to sign the discharge papers and then they head back to her car and get in. Luna looks to Lincoln, he too looks to his mom and they both embrace each other once more.
"What matters is that you're okay Lincoln, that's all that matters to me kiddo." Luna strokes his white hair and then kisses his forehead.
Lincoln sheds some tears as he hugs his mom. "Thank you mom, thank you for saving me."
After several minutes of tears, they soon break the hug and they drive off back home.
(The Loud House.)
Great Grandma Harriet is pacing back and forth in the house, she's been keeping herself occupied while awaiting the return of Lincoln and Luna. She recalls last night when Sam Sharp came to the house and was getting some clothes and things for Lincoln and Luna and what she told Harriet about the appendix from Lincoln which had to be removed.
Deep down Harriet was scared and angered that this happened, scared that Lincoln nearly died and angered that she never saw this sooner. But she knows now is not the time to be worried about that, Lincoln and Luna were coming home and she was getting ready to see them back and being the happy mother and son of the house.
Then she spots the purple Ferrari make it to the driveway and coming out is Lincoln and Luna, they both wave to Merris and Mr. Grouse and then they head to the house.
Harriet opens the door and she immediately hugs Lincoln. "Lincoln! Lincoln you're okay, your fine! I'm so happy that you're alive and well, and I am so sorry for not knowing about your issue!"
Lincoln returns the hug to the resident ghost. "It's okay Great Grandma Harriet. This was on me, I was the one who felt the pain and didn't bother to tell anyone. This was kinda my fault, please don't blame yourself Great Grandma."
They then break the hug and Harriet looks to her Great Grandson and smiles. "Okay Lincoln, okay. Just don't blame yourself either, this was just an unexpected event for all of us and we can only blame time itself for letting things like this happen."
Lincoln and Great Grandma Harriet embrace each other once again, then Luna smells something. "What the heck is that delicious aroma?"
Lincoln breaks the hug from his ghost Great Grandma and he follows his mom and they both head to the living room and are shocked to see a large plate and it was full of Tamales. Still warm.
Lincoln and Luna are stunned by this. "No freaking way!" Luna looks to Great Grandma Harriet. "You made all of this?"
Harriet smiles. "Yes, yes I did. These are the same Tamales that Rosa Casagrande makes, she let me borrow the recipe on her cooking so that I may be able to make them as well. I made these so you two can enjoy yourselves now that you're home." She then realizes something. "Wait a minute, Lincoln just got our after his appendix removal, Does he need to eat something like this?"
Luna smiles. "Don't worry Great Grandma Harriet, the doc says he can eat, it's just we have to keep an eye on him for any signs of internal issues. That's about it."
Harriet sighs in relief. "Very well then, now go ahead and eat up children. You two have had a long day and night and I know you two shared some problematic emotions before you came back home. I'll be handling the laundry now."
Luna hands Harriet the bag with the night clothes they wore and she takes it to the basement. Luna picks up the plate of Tamales and heads for the living room with her son following. They both sit on the couch and watch some TV while eating.
Lincoln then looks to his mom. "Mom, I wanna go to school tomorrow."
Luna chokes on her food and she then calms down, "What? But Lincoln, it's okay. You might still be having some aftermath surgery issues and I don't want you to strain yourself. Principal Huggins said it was okay for you not to come to school tomorrow and same goes with me."
Lincoln then puts his food down. "No mom, I wanna go to school tomorrow and so do you."
Luna then turns off the TV and looks to her son. "Lincoln, I appreciate the courage and responsibility you're taking in, but let me keep you company here and make sure your still okay. I don't want you having some kind of painful trauma as you go back to the school tomorrow."
Lincoln then looks to his mom. "I know you want me to be safe and sound and that you want me to keep me comforted by your company and I appreciate all of that. But I wanna get back to school and see things through, please mom?"
Luna knows she can't fight this sense of courage from her kid, he's developed this over the years and even went through hell to see things through even at their darkest hour, it's nice to see him determined to do this, but it also worries Luna.
Luna sighs. "Okay, okay. But starting tomorrow you have to send me a message that you're doing alright. One sign of you in some kind of pain and slight trauma, then you're taking three days off of school and staying home. Okay?"
Lincoln nods and he hugs his mom. "Okay mom, okay."
Luna hugs her son and she rubs his back. "I'm only doing this because I love you so much my boy, I wanna keep you safe. I don't wanna lose you son, I really don't."
Lincoln sheds some tears. "I know mom, I know." They both stay like this, and eventually they return to eating the Tamales and watching some TV. Enjoying each other's company.
Harriet sees this and sighs. 'This is one of those hardships they'll be facing and it seems to be getting harder and harder every day. I hope they can at least go one month without any form of torment and chaos.' she then goes back to the basement to check on the clothes.
(An hour later, bathroom.)
Lincoln is sitting on the toilet, he did a lot of Tamales and he isn't alone. Lincoln is looking away as his mom is also in the bathroom, leaning on the door and looking away.
Luna knows her son is embarrassed with her presence being there, she tried to tell him it was okay, she's seen him naked before when he was very young. But he's not young anymore, he's an 11 year old boy and soon to be 12.
"Mom, you really don't need to do this" replied Lincoln.
"Yes I do" replied Luna. "I gotta keep an eye on you and make sure that whatever pain you're going through, I gotta be there and when it comes to making things process down the stomach then that is something I gotta be for. In case you feel some kind of pain."
"Do you have to be there for me when I need to pee?" asked Lincoln.
Luna sighs. "You know I do this because I care for you, and I love you son."
"I know mom, I know" replied Lincoln. They continue to stay like this until Lincoln finishes his business. She does have to check if there is any signs of blood from what he shoved out. It was all necessary to see if there were still some signs of pain within him. Luckily, there was no blood.
(Later, bedroom.)
Lincoln and Luna are both on different bran bag chairs and she's teaching him how to tune his little hand-me-down acoustic guitar. "There you go kiddo. That sounds great" replied Luna.
"Thanks mom, I learn from the best" replied Lincoln. Just then they hear a knock on the door.
"It's open!" yelled Luna. Harriet opens the door and coming in are Lincoln's friends. Jordan. Clyde, Chloe, Stella, Liam, Tabby, Rusty, Zach and Flat Tire. "Lincoln!"
Lincoln puts his acoustic down. "Hey guys, glad your all here." Jordan then hugs Lincoln and cries on his shoulder.
"Oh Lincoln, I thought you were a goner! Sam told me everything and I'm so sorry you had to go through that pain! I should've been there for you!"
Lincoln hugs his girlfriend back. "Hey now, I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere. Everything's fine now and sure as heck I'm not letting some stomach pain get to me." Luna chuckles at this, she knows he's trying to be brave to his friends and girlfriend.
Jordan and Lincoln then share a small kiss and they hug each other once more. Luna then notices Clyde looking anxious, she knows what this means.
"McBride." Clyde looks to see Luna looking at him annoyed. "Calm down, take it steady and if you start talking about some stupid thing about your dad's advice, then you're out of my house."
Chloe places a hand on Clyde's shoulder. "Clyde please calm down. Don't make a scene or things won't turn out so well."
Clyde looks around and he sees the rest of his friends all trying to calm him down, Clyde takes a deep breath and he calms down. "Okay, okay. Sorry guys, just kinda being a worry wort."
"It's alright Clyde." Lincoln and Jordan break the hug and he goes over to his best friend. "I know you're trying to be watchful and helpful. I appreciate it, also do you dad's know about me and the issue I had last night?"
"Nope, and I made sure of it." Clyde then shakes Lincoln's hand. "Good to have you back buddy!"
Lincoln smiles. "Good to be back pal." He then interacts with his other friends and tells them of what really had happened, and as it turns out the only ones in the group who haven't had their appendix's removed are Jordan, Chloe, Stella, Rusty and Liam. This is not going to be an easy thing for them, soon.
Luna smiles seeing this, her son was back to his old self. But then two figures come into the room with pillows on them. "Lincoln!" It was Clyde's dads.
"What the hell?!" Luna looks to Clyde in anger and so do the others.
"What? I didn't tell them! I swear I didn't!" said Clyde.
"We knew when we found out after hearing the baby monitor we left in the room" replied Howard. "We head Clyde's talk with Sam Sharp and we knew we had to come here and see for ourselves."
Harold then goes over to Lincoln. "Are you feeling okay? Any sores? Pain when eating and/or digesting? How many fingers am I holding up?"
"We brought some medicine just to be safe, and we also brought some things that could help him out with any more signs of stomach cramps. The same ones we use when our angel has stomach aches" replied Howard.
Rusty, Liam and Zach look to Clyde in shock. Clyde turns bright red and loos away. "Dad's stop! Stop this!"
They both continue to bring out more things that could help Lincoln with his issues, then Harold puts a thermometer in Lincoln's mouth, Lincoln looks to them annoyed. Luna sees this and she gets up. "Hey!"
They stop and look towards her. "Leave my son alone. Leave this house. Leave our lives at peace. And take your stupid health junk with you!" The sound of her voice was enough to be heard by some neighboring houses.
Merris hears this and she goes towards the house.
Howard and Harold look to Luna in shock. "Luna, we know you don't want us to get involved. But we just wanna help you and Lincoln" said Harold.
"We wanna make sure Lincoln is A-Okay and so are you and it seems you may have some slight anger issues you need to work out, Dr. Lopez can help with that one" said Howard. "She helped me with my stress, even though I have some signs of it still in there."
Luna then readies her hand into a fist and she's on the verge of delivering one big punch to both the faces of the McBride men. Lincoln sees this and he doesn't want things to escalate into something worse. "Stop!"
They all look to Lincoln. "Mom, as much as I'd like to see them get kicked to the curb. Violence won't help here. Let the actual people of justice deal with them."
Luna then realizes what he means. "Yeah, your right." They then look to Clyde.
Clyde sighs. "Yeah, whatever works then I'm okay with it. Just to keep my dad's from getting into your lives." Jordan whispers to the others what they mean, and they agree as well.
Howard and Harold are confused. "What's going on? What are you all whispering about?" asked Harold.
"Clyde, what's going on? And whatever this is, we're doing this to help you guys. We see Luna and Lincoln as family too" said Howard.
"No!" yelled Clyde. They were stunned by this, he yelled at his dad's. "I was blinded to seeing I could be part of Lincoln's family too, but I see now that we've become the one thing that they don't want. We've become the meddling sisters from Lincoln and Luna's past! We're becoming the same monsters as they're old family was, but not as people who abandon, but people who get too nosey in other's business! This is their family issue and they'll seek help when they need it the most and right now you two are making it worse for all of us! Stop it!"
Harold and Howard don't know what to say, Clyde has never snapped like this before.
Luna then speaks up. "Harold and Howard McBride, I Luna Loud. Legal mother to Lincoln Loud, am issuing a restraining order against the two of you! But not to Clyde."
They gasp hearing this and they see Clyde and the other kids standing next to Luna and Lincoln. Harold and Howard are shocked to hear this. "But Luna, we just wanted to help" said Howard.
"Then leave them alone." They see Detective Merris and she has her badge with her. "You two are in a whole lot of trouble for coming to this nice family and their lives." She then hands Luna the yellow paper. Luna signs it and then places the names of Harold and Howard McBride.
"There, now it's done!" said Luna.
Merris then looks to the McBride men. "Howard and Harold McBride, this restraining order is by law and you two are not to engage into the lives of Lincoln and Luna. Should you two violate this restraining order then you two shall be sentenced to either community service, house arrest or jail time."
Howard and Harold go jaws dropped hearing this, they have been restricted from interfering with the lives of Lincoln and Luna. "B-But, we were trying to help" said Howard.
"Leave. Us. Alone!" yelled Lincoln. They all looked to Lincoln in shock. "I am sick and tired of Clyde's dad's doing this, it was nice back then. But now, it's not. So do us all a favor and leave me and my mom alone, the last thing I wanna do is end my ties with Clyde and sure as heck I don't wanna do that."
The very thought of what Lincoln just said sends chills down Clyde's spine.
Howard and Harold see that they have made things worse, they then remain silent, hang their heads in shame and walk out of the room. Then Merris smirks. "And 3, 2, 1." they hear the two men scream and race out of the house with an insidious formed Harriet chasing after them.
Harriet then watches them drive off. "And stay out!" She then goes back to folding the clothes. She didn't know that Harold and Howard were there because she was in the basement folding the clothes.
The others cheer and clap for Lincoln and Luna for sending them off, they also cheer for Clyde who backed up the whole idea.
"Your dad's are bound to think twice before coming back here again" said Stella.
"You stood up to them with a hard core persona dude!" said Zach.
"Didn't think you had it in ya Clyde, wicked awesome man" said Flat Tire.
"Out of the old weak Clyde and in with the new and improved Clyde McBride" replied Rusty.
"That there was some tough talkin' buddy, good job Clyde" replied Liam.
"And I thought Gordon Ramsey on TV was touch and hard notch, you're like the American version of him" said Tabby. Clyde had no clue how to respond to that one, he sure wasn't a hell kitchen kind of guy.
Chloe places a hand on his shoulder. "You did the right thing Clyde. You can't let your dad's be like this to you or to others, we're all proud of you Clyde."
Clyde smiles. "Thanks Chloe."
Lincoln then fist bumps with Clyde. "Thanks for being supportive buddy, and to be honest I would never break my ties with you. We're best friends and nothing is gonna make that change, but you know we have to change for the better."
"I know Lincoln" replied Clyde. "And I'm gonna do my part and change as well." They were all greatful for this, and they also thanked Merris for tagging along.
Luna then hugs Lincoln and he hugs her back. Things are starting to look up for them.
(An hour later.)
Lincoln's friends head off home, Clyde needed to check on his dad's to see if they were okay. He still cares about them. The others also head on home and decide to let Lincoln have some alone time with his mom, he did promise to call Jordan later.
Luna did get a call from Sam, she couldn't be there for the because she had something urgent to do that involved her little brother and some bully at school and sure enough Lincoln might hear about this when he does get back to school tomorrow.
At the backyard, Lincoln and Luna are both lying down on a hammock and looking to the afternoon sky.
Lincoln looks to his mom and he snuggles close to her. "Mom, thank you. Thank you for being here with me, for saving me and for being the best mom I could ever ask for."
Luna smiles and she pulls her son close to her. She strokes his white hair and kisses his forehead and she closes her eyes. "I'll always be your mom Lincoln, it's the best thing that has ever happened to me and you."
Lincoln closes his eyes and yawns. "I love you mommy."
Luna hugs him closer. "Mommy loves you to baby, always." They both fall asleep as they rock back and forth onto the hammock. They had a lot more adventures ahead of them.
A/N: And that's the aftermath, next Lincoln and Luna will be headed back to school on the next one to see how things are going and chances the other kids may have heard about what happened to him, such as Lucy and Lisa. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
