Family of two.
Chapter 34: Another parent figure.
(The Loud House.)
Just a normal daytime as it normally is. Lincoln and Lun are both heading down the stairs after changing into their daytime clothes, but when they get to the kitchen they're surprised to see Sam Sharp is there and helping Great Grandma Harriet cook. "Sam?"
Sam and Harriet notices them. "Hey guys." Sam goes over and she hugs Luna and gives her a quick kiss on the lips. "Sorry, I came here early to see what you guys were up to, so I decided to help out make breakfast."
"She is a natural in making breakfast, she also knows how to make Egg's Benedicts really well."
Sam then goes to Lincoln, she kneels down to his level, kisses his forehead and hugs him. "How's my fave little dude doing today?"
Lincoln smiles and he hugs her back. "I'm okay Sam. Glad to see you here, kinda early though. What about Simon? How's he doing?"
They then break the hug. "Simon is still grounded and he should be let loose come tomorrow, after what he and that Boy Jordan did. I swear if that kid messes with my little bro, he is so going to get it!"
Luna then calms her down. "Easy there babe, let's not get to aggro thi morning. Let's just enjoy what you and Great Grandma Harriet made." Sam calms down, she gets up and with Lincoln they get the food from the table and bring it over to the dining room and eat their food. Harriet remains in the kitchen to wash the dishes, she knows what's going to happen today.
"Wow! This is delicious Sam, you are a good cook like mom" said Lincoln.
"Thanks there little dude, I did learn from my mom and also my dad" replied Sam. "The only issue with that, I am terrible at baking. It's not really my thing."
Luna swallows her food and drinks her coffee. "Same, but that was long ago. I learned how to bake and it's not that hard anymore. Maybe I can show you some pointers so you can learn too."
"That sounds pretty rad there babe, and we can also have Lincoln tag along too, like a trio band thing" said Sam. "If that's okay with you little dude."
Lincoln swallows his food and drinks his orange juice. "I think that sounds awesome. We can make a pie, or a cake or even some cookies."
Luna chuckles at this. "Look at us! We're like one big family just talking about what we wanna do for the day, this feels kinda nice." She then drinks her coffee and then she eats her food.
"Yeah, I mean I don't have any plans for this weekend and I think I can go for some bonding time" replied Lincoln, he then eats the rest of his eggs benedict and drinks his orange juice.
Luna and Sam look to each other and nod. "And that's why we're hoping you'd say that. Sammy here wants to spend the day with you" replied Luna. "We've been planning it since yesterday."
"Luna, this was your idea and I just went along with it because I wanna spend some time with the rockin; kid from the rockin' babe I know" replied Sam as she wipes some coffee from Luna's face.
"Really? Wow. I think I can go with that" said Lincoln. "It would be nice to spend some time with another Sharp we know, sounds cool to me. Plus my friends all have their own things to do and Jordan is going to the mall with her friends and I got a message from last night from Ronnie Anne and Sid, something about making their own club at school. Anyway, I'm down for hanging with Sam."
Sam and Luna smile. "Then let's finish this up and get ourselves ready for the day, I think I'll be chillin; here for a while" said Luna.
Lincoln and Sam look to Luna confused. "What? Are you sure mom?" asked Lincoln with concern.
"Luna, you can tag along if you want" said Sam. "We don't mind at all, you are Linc's mom."
Luna chuckles. "It's cool you two. I know you guys wanna spend some time together and I trust Sam to keep a close eye on Lincoln. That trust has been around since I first told Sam about the best bro I once had and now he's the best kid I ever had."
Hearing that was enough to make Lincoln shed tears. He gets out of his chair and he hugs his mom. Luna smiles and also hugs Lincoln. "And I meant every word of it, you two deserve some bonding time together."
Sam smiles seeing this, she can only tell that her day with Lincoln is going to be the best. Harriet sees this and smiles, she too hopes that their day goes well.
(An Hour later.)
Lincoln and Sam come out of the house, they then look to Luna who was with them. Lincoln then hugs his mom and she hugs Lincoln. "Be good, listen to Sam and have fun kiddo." She then kisses his forehead.
Lincoln smiles and he kisses his mom's cheek. "I will mom, I know what to do and I trust Sam as well."
Luna then breaks the hug with her son and she hugs Sam and they share a small kiss. "I trust you Sammy, and so does Lincoln. Keep him out of trouble and be there for him when something goes wrong."
"I will, you can count on me Lunes" replied Sam. "Besides, I see him as my kid and you see him as yours." This makes Lincoln smile, knowing that Sam sees Lincoln as her own child like Luna does.
"Come on bud, let's go and see what this day gives us." Sam gets her skateboard from the side of the house and places it onto the ground and she puts on some safety gear.
This shocks Lincoln. "Whoa! You roller skate?"
"Of course I skate kiddo" said Sam. "I've been doing this since middle school, like your mom when she roller skates, which was also back in middle school and she was a natural at it."
Lincoln is shocked and looks to Luna. Luna chuckles. "It's true, dang true and I still got the roller skates in the room. Maybe next time all three of us can go out on some wheels and deals stuff. Lincoln on his bike, Sam on her skateboard and me on the roller blades."
"That sounds like an awesome idea!" said Lincoln. "We can do that tomorrow together, all three of us!"
Luna and Sam chuckle. Sam then gets herself ready. "Alright Linc, you ready for this?"
Lincoln puts on his elbow and knee pads and Luna places his helmet on, Lincoln then gets his mountain bike and he hops on. "Ready as I'll ever be Sam!"
Sam smirks. "Then let's ride Linc!" They both take off and head on to wherever the day takes them. Luna waves good bye to them and sighs. 'This is gonna be a good idea, I know it.' She then heads back inside and she is kinda shocked at what she sees.
Great Grandma Harriet has made a castle out of cards. "What? I do this when I don't feel like playing cards. I did make one the shape of myself when you and Lincoln were at school."
Luna has no clue what to think of this. "Well, I'll be upstairs. Gotta make a new song for when Sam and I get a gig." But then the phone rings and the card castle falls.
"Dang it."
Luna answers the phone. "Loud house, this is Luna speaking. Uh huh. Okay then. Really? Oh, well I have to tell her then. Okay, talk to you soon!" Luna then hangs up the phone and smiles. "Huh, Sam and I got a gig already, better get to that song now." Luna heads upstairs and into her room.
Harriet goes back to trying to make the card castle all over again, this could be a while.
(Gus's Games n' Grub.)
Lincoln and Sam are both grooving to the beats of the dance, dance game! They then make one final pose and end up as a tie win. "Wow! That was awesome! Looks like you got some of your mom's moves little dude" said Sam.
"Yeah, that one is a bit complicated though" said Lincoln. Then he decides to tell her. "Okay so I have been observing Luna back then when she did her gigs and her moves seem to be in sync with yours, which is why I seem to catch up with you."
Sam and Lincoln take a moment and sit onto the ground. She then ruffles his hair. "Taking up lessons from you rockin' mom means you truly are her son and I'm happy for it too."
Lincoln smiles. "Thanks Sam, so now what should we do? We played a lot of the games here and yet this is the one game we're both tied at."
"Well, as I can recall from what your mom told me, you have aced and played in all of these games. Even the basketball one, so I don't really know how to keep up with you unless it's dancing game" said Sam. They then heart their stomachs growl and they turn red in embarrassment. "I think we both need some fuel in the tanks."
"Yeah, I could go for some pizza and garlic sticks" said Lincoln. They both get up and head to a booth, they then place their orders and wait for the food to come.
"So Sam, mom never told me but … How did you two meet?" asked Lincoln.
Sam knows that he might not like the answer, but he has to know. "Okay, so I guess I should start where I had my first concert in Royal Woods. As you should know my rents and I and Simon are not from Royal Woods. We actually moved from Detroit and that's where my love for music began. You're mom and I met at the summer of 7th grade, though I just arrived at that point and was going to start middle school after summer was done."
Lincoln is shocked to hear this. "The Mick Swagger concert, the first one mom went to. The … The one where … Where she changed and … And became, became Luna Loud."
Sam could tell that this wasn't bringing some good vibes, she recalls what Luna told her when Lincoln made Luna a late Mother's Day special and what happened when Lincoln brought Luna to the mall and she got upset that she didn't know, which led to Lincoln being upset because he thinks it's his fault that she doesn't know about concerts anymore, her talent for music is what drives her to her passion. But Luna has a new passion, and obligation and that's to her son.
Sam then scooches closer to Lincoln. "Hey now, don't look so down Lincoln. That was before and this is the now, sure Luna isn't the same one you knew when you were very little. But look at you two now, she's still the caring mom you knew and loved and nothing, not even a big time concert is gonna change that. Luna loves you and that's all that matters and so do I."
Lincoln is touched to hear this from Sam and he hugs her. Sam smiles and she hugs him back.
They soon break the hug when they're food makes it, though the waitress looks like she's crying. They then see who it was. "Dana?"
"I'm sorry …. I heard you guys and, and I need to go now." Dana heads off to the kitchen to wipe away her tears and call her brother Chaz, she wants him to know she still loves her brother.
This was something Lincoln and Sam did not see coming, they didn't mind to it and proceeded to eat their pizza and garlic sticks and soda. All while that is happening, Polly and Rusty pass by and behind them is Zach, Liam, Tabby and Flat Tire on their bikes.
"Rusty! Watch out!" yelled Zach.
Rusty manages to dodge the trash can. "Ha! I did it!" Then he hits the post box.
"Oooh!" they all stop in front of him. "You okay man?" asked Flat Tire.
Rusty slides off the post box and he lies face first onto the ground and he has his thumbs up to them. "Never better." They then help Rusty back up and continue with their ride around town.
(Later.)
Lincoln and Sam are now at the Royal Woods movie house. "So, we're gonna see a movie?" asked Lincoln.
"We are and I know just the one" said Sam. They then head inside and Sam orders 2 tickets to a movie Lincoln has never seen before. Lincoln looks around and then he sees the poster of the one movie he doesn't like, the Harvester 3!
Lincoln backs up, but then Sam puts her hands on his shoulders which startles him. "Whoa! Whoa! Easy there Lincoln, it's just me, Sam."
Lincoln calms down and he hugs her. "S-Sorry, I was just …. Scared!"
Sam is confused. "What? Scared of what?" She then sees the poster and then she recalls what Luna told her when Lincoln saw the first Harvester movie. Sam looks to the scared kid hugging her and she hugs him back.
"Shh, easy there little buddy. Don't be scared anymore. We're not gonna see the movie Lincoln, what we're about to watch beats that movie by a long shot."
Lincoln then calms down and he looks to Sam. "Really? What is it?"
Sam wipes away his tears and she gets up and holds his hand. "Just wait and see, you just might like it. Like a lot." They then head for the snack bar and get two boxes of popcorn and two large sodas.
They then head to where the movie is at and Lincoln looks to the poster and is confused. "Jumanji: The Next Level?" Lincoln looks to Sam.
"I saw the very first one, which my mom and dad showed me. It was made in the early 90's and this, this one is kinda like a sequel, I think and I know you're gonna love it" said Sam. "Now come on."
Lincoln liked the look of it and they both enter the cinema room and watch the movie. At another cinema room. Trent, Kat, Artie and Cookie come out after watching the movie "The Greatest Showman."
"Okay, we have got to tell the other to see that movie too!" said Kat.
"We should tell Lincoln and his mom and Sam and Tabby" said Cookie. "They are so going to love the sings they performed!"
"Not gonna lie, that movie was beautiful and it kinda made me cry" said Artie.
"Aw! It's okay, I'm here to make you feel better." Cookie kisses his cheek and they all chuckle.
"Never though Hugh Jackman would make up for one heck of a singing man and I thought Wolverine was the role for him" replied Trent. The four kids make it out of the Royal Woods movie house.
They then stop as Rusty passes by them, "Hey guys. Bye guys. Can't stop now!" Polly soon races after him, followed by Liam, Tabby, Zach and Flat Tire.
They continue to watch them all take off on their wheels. "What are the odds Rusty is gonna hit something?" asked Kat.
They then hear some crashing sounds from a nearby garbage can. "And he crashed into something" said Trent. They then go over and see what happened and sure enough Rusty crashed. Polly needs to help him learn how to break, or he could break something within him instead. Get it? Ha!
(After the movie.)
Lincoln and Sam leave the Royal Woods movie house. "That was … That was kinda wicked awesome!" said Lincoln with excitement.
Sam chuckles. "Told ya you'd love it, and I gotta admit that it was pretty cool and video game style? Wow! The first one was just a normal board game."
"I guess the game needs to adapt, not many teens and kids play board games" said Lincoln. "Unless they're below 7, or if they're people going through boredom."
"Not gonna lie to that one" replied Sam. She then see the afternoon dawning onto them and then she has an idea. "Hey Linc, how about we take our wheels and make our way to the park?"
Lincoln gets to his bike. "Let's get to wheeling Sam." Sam gets to her skateboard and they both ride off to the park, which is not too far from them.
They soon arrive and they take their wheels onto the pathway and enjoy the wind in their hair. Lincoln and Sam look around the place, it didn't seem packed at all.
They spot Miguel and Fiona doing some yoga poses with a class, though Miguel is acing it, they spot Dennis and Patrick playing badminton with some kids from the clubs they joined from the school and then they see Rusty being tended to by Polly, Liam, Tabby, Zach and Flat Tire.
"What the heck happened to your buddy over there?" asked Sam.
"Something tells me that Rusty learned to skate with ease and speed, but he still has to learn how to break it" replied Lincoln. "Let's leave them be, they seem to have it covered."
"By the way, where the heck is McBride?" asked Sam.
"Having a marathon of Dessert Storm alongside Chloe" replied Lincoln. "But something tells me he might be hanging out with her for another reason."
Sam chuckles. "Looks like your best friend is looking for a soul mate, better with someone he has in common than someone way older than him." Lincoln and Sam then continue to go around the park together.
(Later.)
The sun is slowly setting on the horizon and Lincoln and Sam decide to stop and sit underneath the shade of a tree on the hill. Lincoln sighs. "Thanks for spending this day with me, mom."
Sam is stunned by what he just called her. "What did you just call me?"
Lincoln looks away nervously. "Sorry about that Sam, it's just earlier you said you also see me as your kid as well and I also kinda see you as … As another mom figure, like Luna."
"Sam, you were there for me when I was vulnerable and tormented from the whole luck incident, Luna and I trusted you all the way and you always had our backs, you were there for me when I was breaking down into a mess and talked things out with the other band mates and you … You came to the hospital when … When I was at critical with my Appendix." Lincoln looks to the blonde Sharp girl.
"Sam, there's no other person who I would also see as another mother figure, than one like you. You and Luna love each other very much, and I'm happy for the two of you. When you hang out with us, it feels like our family of two became a nice family of three. You share concern, love and deep care for those who are in trouble and that's why, I wanna call you mom, or at least mommy Sam."
Sam couldn't believe it, all it took was one day to spend with Lincoln and both of them are already having a bond, similar to Luna. But the bond actually dates all the way back, to when Luna introduced Sam and Luna together.
Sam strokes his hair and smiles. "Lincoln, it would be an honor to be your mom as well, though I think that title mom is for Luna. Lunes and I aren't in a deep eternal relationship until we're old enough, calling me Sam should better okay buddy?"
Lincoln does feel bad he can't call her mom, but he understands. "Okay Sam, I'm cool with that."
But then Sam has an idea. "Or, how about when no one else is around, and it's just the two of us and Luna. Then you can call me Mommy, or mom, which ever works."
Lincoln smiles and sheds some tears and hugs her. "Okay mom, okay mommy Sam."
Sam is touched by this and she too hugs Lincoln tightly, she strokes his hair and kisses his forehead. "I love you so much little Linky."
"I love you too mommy" replied Lincoln.
The two of them stay like this until the sun would finally show no signs of its existence to the people of Royal Woods, which took only 30 minutes.
Sam then notices Lincoln has fallen asleep in her embrace. Sam smiles and she strokes his hair. 'Looks like all the emotional and affections got you to relax to slumber land, or my hug is just as warm and comforting as Luna's.'
Sam then kisses his forehead and then she grabs her phone and makes a call. "Hey Luna, can you come and pick us up from Atcham Park?"
"What? Why? What happened to you and Lincoln? Is my son okay?"
Sam smirks. "Our kid is okay Lunes, he just got all tuckered out from the fun day we had. We'll both be waiting for you by a very familiar tree on a hill."
"Okay Sammy, I'm on my way. See you and Lincoln soon."
"You too Lunes." She the puts her phone away and Sam slowly closes her eyes and she continues to hug and hum a soothing tune to the sleeping 11 year old boy.
"Sam loves you too baby, always."
