This is something I came up with and there might be some surprised for any incoming future chapters in here. Enjoy Folks.

Family of Two.

Chapter 41: Some hard work.

(Franklin Avenue, somewhere early in the morning.)

The whole neighborhood is still somewhat dark, the sun is barely coming up and we see two figures jogging onto the street. One is wearing an orange hoodie and the other has a purple hoodie and both have sneakers, it was Lincoln and Luna. Both of them feel pumped up and they continue with their jog.

"This is the best idea you got mom, even though waking up early is a bit unnerving" said Lincoln.

"Sorry about that kiddo, I just thought we could both use some early morning cardio since your kinda good at dodge ball and we could use this for when we face some real trouble" replied Luna.

"It's alright mom" replied Lincoln. "The early morning air smells so nice and it's kinda calm and peaceful when the whole neighborhood is still asleep." Then Lincoln sees someone. "Well, not everyone."

Lincoln waves to his good friend Flat Tire who is on his bike and delivering newspapers. Flat Tire sees them and waves then he tosses a newspaper to Luna who catches it and he rides off to finish his part-time job.

"Did you know about this thing Linc?" asked Luna.

"Well, I did overhear Flat Tire saying he got a small part-time job, but he never told us what it was and now I know what it is and I am sure going to tell the others" said Lincoln. "This is nice of him, and also kinda inspiring."

Luna chuckles. "What? You planning on getting a part-time job too kiddo?"

Lincoln snickers. "No thanks mom, maybe when the time is right. I gotta at least try and be a hard working kid. You are raising me the right way after all." They continue their jog towards the loud house.

Then Lincoln thinks about this and recalls something. 'The Royal Woods Mall Pawn Shop has the new silver and gold necklace making thing, and I wanna make something special for mom. We may have so much cash in the bank, but I wanna earn the cash and mom's birthday is next week.'

He then sees his mom smiling as she jogs, she looks to her son and she ruffles his hair. Lincoln chuckles at this. 'Yup, time to earn my keep! This is for you mom!' Lincoln then jogs ahead. "Race ya home!"

Luna smiles at this. "Oh, it is on kiddo!" She then jogs after her son, both of them enjoying this early morning Saturday thing they might keep doing.

(Skip, morning and after everything else.)

Lincoln comes out of the house and his mom follows him with his helmet. "Don't forget to text or call me if anything is wrong okay kiddo?" She then places his helmet on as Lincoln gest onto his bike.

Lincoln smiles. "I know mom and don't worry I'm just gonna be hanging out with my friends."

Luna then kisses his forehead. "Just be careful Lincoln, I don't want anything bad to happen to ya."

Lincoln smiles. "I got my pals with me, and they got my back." He then starts to ride off. "See you alter mom, and don't worry and enjoy your day to yourself!"

Luna waves as her son is no longer in view, then she sees someone come to the drive way. "D. Pingrey?"

And it was, Elena comes out with Lily in her arms. "Hi Luna, we thought it would be a nice idea to come over and visit, Lincoln home?" Lily claps and reaches towards Luna.

Elena then hands Lily over to Luna. "You just missed him, he went off to spend the weekend with his pals. They'll be fine, he'll call or text me if there's anything wrong."

"Well, at least we can spend this weekend today. All three of us, also my husband is busy at a cop's convention in town, he brought our dog with him. He is part of the K-9 unit" said Elena. They then go into the house. "Where's the resident ghost?"

"Upstairs and going through some spooky stuff, also Linc and I got a good early morning jog to start the day too" replied Luna. She then sits on the couch and let's Lily on the couch as well and she smiles and places with her stuffed bear.

"Looks like it's just us mom's with a lot of time on our hands, with this sweet little girl" said Elena.

Luna smiles and looks to Lily being all happy. "Yeah, sure is." She then turns on the TV and they all enjoy themselves

Elena then looks to Luna and then back to the TV and smirks. 'Okay, so distracting Luna is a go. This is the best plan Lincoln has ever had and I'm glad to be the one to assist. I just need to make sure Luna doesn't suspect a thing.'

(Huntington Oaks.)

Lincoln arrives to the fancy neighborhood and the gate guard lets him through. "You must be the kid here to help out, go on ahead."

"Thank you sir" replied Lincoln. He then pushes his bike through the open gates and he sees the fancy house everywhere. "Wow. Sure looks fancy here." He then spots two British boys that look like him and Clyde. "Okay, this is weird."

He then pulls out his phone and he puts all of his friends on the dial. "You guys hear me?"

Clyde, Jordan, Chloe, Stella, Tabby, Liam, Zach, Rusty, Polly, Mollie, Sadie, Jenny, Christina, Trent, Kat, Artie, Cookie, Lance, Joy, Flat Tire, Sam and Simon are on their phones. "We're here Lincoln!"

Lincoln smiles. "Good, okay so run back to me what my plan was, just to be sure you guys won't forget!"

"We are all at different locations where we all sometimes hang out" said Jordan. She is at the mall with Mollie, Sadie, Christina, Trent, Artie, Lance, Joy, Kat, Cookie and Jenny.

"If your mom calls, then we tell her you're doing fine. IF she tries to call you, we all turn on our phones so we can all be at the same line and she'll think we're all there" said Clyde. He's at the bike park with Chloe, Flat Tire, Rusty and Polly.

"And we keep this up till you finish your work, we know what to do Lincoln. Your mom won't suspect a thing!" replied Sam. She's at the Park alongside Simon, Tabby and Liam.

"We got your back dude!" said Stella. She's at the Arcade with Zach, Dennis and Patrick. Wait, they're hanging out with them? Wow!

Lincoln smiles. "Okay good, we're all in position and for the first plan to distract my mom I got Mrs. D. Pingrey to keep her occupied spending the day with her and Lily, also if she does plan to go someplace then Mrs. Pingrey will signal all of us, copy?"

"Got it!" they all replied.

"Go and earn your keep and get your mom that something special! You got this my love!" said Jordan.

Lincoln smiles hearing that, it was enough to motivate him. "Thanks for the help guys, keep me posted on when my mom is calling and I'll be ready. Okay over and out!" He puts his phone away and heads to the first rich house who is looking for some yard work.

Lincoln sees the fancy condo home and he rings the doorbell, he does see a British flag on it and when it opens he is shocked to see who it is. "Hugh?"

Hugh smiles. "Well I'll be, Lincoln Loud! I haven't seen you since the whole court incident! It sure is spot on to see an old chap like you again. How are you and you're mum doing along?"

Lincoln then looks to Hugh and he sees his right arm and its cast. "Me and my mom are doing fine. What the heck happened to you though?"

Hugh looks to his casted arm. "Oh this? This is just something a bit of an accident with me and my car, and it was kinda painful too."

"Oh, sorry to hear about that Hugh" said Lincoln with concern.

"Nothing to worry about Lincoln. I guess you're here to do some yard work for me?" asked Hugh.

"I am, I'm trying to earn some cash so I can get my mom something nice for her birthday. I know she deserves something nice from me, after all she's done" replied Lincoln.

Hugh smiles hearing this. "Well that is mighty kind of you to do Lincoln. Alright, let me show you the issue I have with some weeds on the prize marrow I have." Lincoln follows Hugh to the back of the house, this was it. The first house that needs yard work and the first step to earning some cash.

(An hour later, The Loud House.)

Luna and Elena then chat in the dining room about some things, then Luna looks to her watch. "I should check up on my kid, just to be safe."

"Oh, okay then" replied Elena. She secretly clicks onto a small device in her hand and it sends out a signal to the kids who are all on standby. Lily crawls to her mom and claps seeing this, Luna is confused by Lily's happiness and then doesn't mind it.

(Huntington Oaks.)

Lincoln wipes his brow and then walks away from Hugh's home with some cash in his pocket. "One down and nine more to go." Then he sees the signal on his walkie talkie beeping. "Oh shoot! Mom!"

Lincoln grabs his phone and he sees his mom is now calling him, so he answers it. "Hey mom, what's up?"

"I was calling to see what's been happening? Are you with your pals?"

"I am, I just need to use the rest room is all. We took a break and I drank a lot of water, nothing wrong mom" replied Lincoln. "Well, I gotta go now mom. Can't hold it in."

"Okay then Linc, just keep safe and stay with your pals. Love you."

"Love you too mom." He then hangs up and he puts his phone away. "That was too close!"

Lincoln then goes over to the next house and sees a fancy elderly couple who need help with mowing their lawn since her husband is on the wheel chair after an incident with the raccoons in the area.

(The Loud House.)

Luna puts her phone away. "So, how's her doing? Anything wrong with him?" asked Elena.

Luna then picks up Lily and she sits onto Luna's lap while eating a cookie. "He said he was doing fine, nothing wrong. Just a restroom break." They continue their talk.

Elena was relieved for that. 'We have got to keep a close call on things. That was a little too close.'

Meanwhile upstairs. Great Grandma Harriet is going through her old Spell Book, and not just an ordinary Spell book, more like lots of Spell books and all of them have been around with her for a long, long time.

She kept them well hidden in a cabin in the woods. A cabin that once belonged to her grandmother and she found the books and she's now going through all of them. "Now, where have I seen than Raven from before?"

Harriet goes through so many books. "I know it's in here, and I have read about it. Where the heck is it?" She then closes the book and grabs another one and she sees the logo on it was odd, it had an eye logo with three tear like patterns and it was glowing blue. "Found you!"

Harriet opens the book and she sees what was inside. "Let's see. Arcane, Ley Line Seals, Hexes, Polymorphs, Blizzards, mass teleportation, blink warps, summons and … Oh! Here it … Is?"

"What the heck?" She sees the image of a cloacked man, and the image of the raven on the other page. "Guardian?" She continues to read the book. "A being who is above the power and magic system to that of an ordinary wizard or wielder of the arcane. These spell casters master more than just ordinary spells known through wizards, they can open portals, control powerful summons and conquer mighty foes."

She then reads the page with the raven on it. "Every Guardian has their own form of mobility, most would rather teleport to a distant location. But if they do not wish to use up all of their mana energies, they can morph into a raven in order to cover some distance and it acts as a surveillance trait for them. The raven form is a most common form a guardian can take. The most well-known Guardians are, Medivh from Karazhan and the mysterious ally of his, Gyro?"

Harriet sees the image of Gyro and his raven form. "Just like the one I saw, could he have seen me. Could he have known about our world? I must be careful, he could be dangerous and these spells here … They are far beyond me."

She then closes the book and then sits. "I must not let Luna and Lincoln know, yet." She then looks around at the many books she got. "I have a lot to clean up, but I think I'll go and check on Luna and see what she's up to."

Harriet leaves the room, but she has no idea that the symbol of the book glows purple and green and the eye blinks and looks around. "Well, well. What in the name of the realms is this?" It then turns into a normal book and the raven is sitting on the window and flies off.

(Many hours later. Huntington Oaks.)

Lincoln had finished with the ninth house. "Okay, so I got more than five thousand bucks. This is good, maybe I can get mom two nice things. Something that is truly deep from my heart to her."

Then he gets a signal from Elena. "Uh on." He then answers his phone which is from Jordan. "What happened?"

"You're mom called me and asked if I was with you and I told her you were with Clyde and don't worry, Clyde was given that message from Trent and he's answering Luna right now."

Lincoln sighs in relief. "Okay good, we cannot let this plan get compromised. Keep it up guys, i to one more house to do."

"We got this Linc, also some of my friends just went off home and I will shortly" said Jordan.

"Its' alright Jordan. I think you guys haves held up longer than any of us, you guys need some home time. Call you later." Lincoln then puts his phone away and he goes to the next house and he rings the doorbell.

"Okay, one last gig and then I'm done." But when the door opens Lincoln goes wide eyed. "Buh … Buh … Buh!"

"Oh Lincoln. It is so good to see you again" said Serena Dimartino. "I got the message from Hugh that you're doing some work so you can earn something to buy for your mama on her birthday right?"

Lincoln snaps out of his trance and thinks to himself. 'Think about Jordan, think about Jordan, Miss Dimartino is older than you. Jordan is cuter and my first crush and now lover, think about Jordan Rosato.'

Lincoln sighs. "Yeah, I am. I wanna give my mom something special, something she deserves for being such a great mom to me."

Dimartino giggles at this. "You are such a sweet boy Lincoln. Come with me." Lincoln follows his Spanish substitute teacher and they reach her backyard. It looked quite fancy and beautiful, but there are a lot of leaves and tall grass. "I would do this myself, but I have to grade papers from the Middle School and there are a lot of failures when they took the test. Can you be able to handle this mijo?"

Lincoln looks around and he takes a deep breath. 'This is for mom, this is for mom, this is for mom!'

"I can handle this Miss Dimartino, I have been doing nine houses and this last one will be all the worthwhile!" said Lincoln. "I got this!"

Dimartino is impressed by his dedication. "Very well then, the mower is in the shed and here are the keys." She hands Lincoln the keys. "I suggest you clean the leave first, the leaf blower is also in the shed. Try not to hurt yourself Mijo, I know you are doing this for your mama Luna and it is very admirable."

Lincoln looks to the keys. "It'll be all worth it!" Lincoln then heads to the shed, Dimartino smiles and she goes back into her house to finish her work.

(Hours later.)

Lincoln then turns off the lawn mower and he gets off of it and he brings the keys with him. He then knocks on Miss Dimartino's door and it opens. "The backyard is clean and no signs of any more tall grass, I also took the privilege of removing some weeds that were hidden among the lilacs and helped remove the leaves from the Koi pond."

"Oh my. Thank you so much mijo." Dimartino hands him 4 thousand dollars. "This is for the hard work you have been doing and the extra work I didn't even tall you to do."

Lincoln looks at the money. "Thanks, well I should get going now. It's getting kinda late" said Lincoln.

"Take care Lincoln and make sure you get the most special something for Luna" said Dimartino.

"I will!" Lincoln rides off on his bike and he leaves the neighborhood and passes by the guard and waves at him. He then pulls out his phone. "Hey Clyde, did my mom text you or call?"

"Lincoln, you need to get home. Now!"

Lincoln is confused. "What do you mean? Clyde what happened?!"

"You're mom called me and said she knows where you are, and that …. You're in big trouble too."

Lincoln is shocked. "Clyde, do the others know about this?"

"I don't know. She only called me. I'm headed back home now, same with Flat Tire, Rusty, Polly and Chloe. Call you back buddy and good luck."

Lincoln sighs. "Yeah, okay Clyde." he then puts his phone away and he gulps at what he might encounter when he gets home. The one thing he doesn't wanna do, is make his mom upset, or worse mad.

(The Loud House, late in the afternoon.)

Lincoln arrives and spots that Elena's car is gone and then he sees his mom sitting by the steps with a stern look and looking at him. Lincoln then gets off his bike and he lets it lean onto the house and he goes over to Luna with worry and slight fear. "M-Mom?"

Luna gets up. "Come on kiddo, we need to talk." Lincoln didn't like the tone in her voice and follows her inside. Great Grandma Harriet is by the stairs and sees this, and she sighs.

"I'll be in the backyard and leave you two be." She then leaves the house to give them some alone time. Lincoln knows he's in big trouble.

Lincoln then stands there with his mom leaning near the fire place. "I know where you went Lincoln. Do you think I'm stupid or something?"

"M-Mom, no I don't. I was … I was busy with …. With something else" replied Lincoln with concern.

Luna then shows him her phone on the table and he sees a red dot in the loud house. "I tracked your phone. So, what the hell were you doing at Huntington Oaks? You said you were hanging out with your friends!"

Lincoln looks down in fear. "Mom …. I'm sorry, I didn't want you to know."

"Know what?!" yelled Luna, she then has tears in her eyes. "You lied to me! You lied to me, your mother! Do you have any idea how worried I was about you?! I had to tell Elena to go home with Lily, and I had to keep a straight face so she won't be concerned. What were you even doing there?!"

"Mom … I can't tell ….. I can't tell you."

"Why? What's so important there that you got all your friends and Sam involved?!" said Luna. Lincoln is shocked that she knows. "Yeah, I know about them getting involved. I know you put some kind of plan to have them keep me distracted!"

Lincoln sheds tears hearing this. "M-Mom … Please."

"Why would you lie to me?! Why would you go off someplace and tell me some fib?! What the heck are you doing today?!" said Luna as she gets closer to Lincoln with tears in her face.

Lincoln had no choice. "I was earning money to buy you something for your birthday!"

Luna's angered expression is soon gone and is now replaced by shock and confusion. "W-What?"

Lincoln starts to let his tears flow as his hands turn into fists. "I … I wanted to get y-you something …. Something nice f-for your birthday n-next week. I know … I know y-you got me a c-computer, I heard it f-from when I came back to s-school."

Luna is surprised by this. "What?"

Lincoln then looks to his mom with tears in his eyes. He goes over and hugs her. "You … You got m-me something …. Something that you b-bought and I w-wanted to do the s-same for y-you. I'm sorry mom, I'm so, so sorry mommy! Please don't be m-mad at me. I'm s-s-sorry."

Luna is now bewildered by all of this and she looks down to her crying son. All this time, he was doing hard work to earn money and get her something for her birthday. Lincoln, was being a thoughtful kid again, like when he made the late mother's day for her.

Luna then kneels down to her sons' level and embraces him. "Lincoln, I'm sorry. I just … I was worried and … I'm so sorry for yelling at you." Luna sheds some tears as she embraces her crying boy.

Lincoln just cries into his mother's chest. "I', m sorry, I didn't mean to lie. I-It was supposed to be a …. A surprise, for you. Because you … You're the b-best mom I have, and you … You deserve something special."

Luna then picks up her son and she sits on the couch with him both in each other's embrace.

"Lincoln, I'm sorry for being mad. I was just … Just worried about you and where you were. I was so … So stupid to do this! Oh Lincoln, I'm sorry my child." Luna rubs his back and cries with him.

Lincoln hugs his mom tight and kisses her cheek. "I forgive you mommy. I love you, I love you so much mom!

Luna kisses his forehead. "Mommy loves you too Linky, a-always and always baby!"

They both stay in this saddened and scared embrace. Lincoln was afraid of making his mom worried and mad. Luna was now feeling disappointed and scared, disappointed that she didn't lighten up from this and scared for losing her son and seeing him fear her.

Harriet sees this. 'Yup, hard times are coming and this is also one of them. Trust, lies and surprises.'

(Skip, Nighttime.)

Luna enters the room after checking the security around the house and she sees Lincoln walking towards her and showing her the money he has. "Five thousand dollars, this is what I got for doing yard work for the folks there who needed someone who could help out. I want you to …. To keep it safe mom."

Luna then hands him back the money. "No, you earned this so you keep it. I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier Lincoln. I was …. I was just worried about you."

Lincoln nods. "I know, making surprises to each other is a no go I guess. I'm also sorry for making you worried. Next time, I'll be sure to call you and tell you where I'm actually going and I'll be sure my friends know about where I am too." He then wipes away some tears on his face.

Luna smiles. "Come here baby." Luna opens her arms to her son and Lincoln goes over with a quivering lip and he hugs his mom and let's tears go down once more. "Shh, I'm not mad anymore. I understand, and I'll try not to be too over protective. It's just that ….. I don't wanna lose you!" Luna tightens her hug on her son.

Lincoln just cries as he also apologizes to her. "Mom, I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."

Luna then brings him over to the beanbag chair and sits with her son clinging to her. She can feel him trembling. "I forgive you Linky, I wouldn't wanna be mad at you, I love you so much son."

"I love you mom, I love you so much mommy."

"Mommy loves you too Lincoln." She then rubs his back and hums a soothing tune to calm him down and she looks out the window. 'Being a mom sure is hard. The good and the bad, I gotta make sure nothing like this could happen again. Whatever happens, I will always love you Lincoln.'

While they both stay like this in each other's embrace and comfort. A raven sees them with its purple eyes turning to green. 'So, there is another dimension that went through the whole Luck thing. Interesting.'

The raven then flies off and creates a glowing light into the sky and disappears.

A/N: Luna's Birthday is inbound and this came to me in a dream during an afternoon nap. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
