Family of Two.

Chapter 43: Devoted to do this.

(Royal Woods Elementary.)

The purple Ferrari makes it to the school and coming out is Lincoln, but then his mom follows him and turns him around to embrace him. "Linc, I know you're going to take long with whatever you have planned at the mall. So, I need to know if you need a ride there."

Lincoln breaks away from the hug and looks to his mom. "Well, I didn't bring my bike today. So, I guess I do need a ride to the mall, if that's okay with you. If not, then I can get a ride from one of my pals, except for the McBride's."

Luna kisses his forehead. "That's my boy. Well, I gotta go now. See you later kiddo." Luna gets into her car and she watches as Lincoln wave's goodbye to her.

Lincoln then turns around and he sees all of his friends, all of them worried about him after what had happened on Saturday, Jordan goes over and hugs him. "You feeling okay Lincoln?"

Lincoln hugs her back. "Yeah, mom and I settled it all down and later I am going back to the mall to finish what I wanted to make and it's going to be one sweaty and hard work to do."

They were all greatful for this. "Well, now that you're here and things are cool with your mom. We should tell you that Mrs. Johnson is not going to be available today, during her night at Saturday she got hurt after riding the mechanical bull. So someone is going to be our substitute teacher" said Jenny.

Lincoln then realizes. "Oh no." And so does Jordan. "Ms. Dimartino." They then see the boys looking love struck.

Kat, Joy, Cookie, Tabby and Polly elbow them. They snap out of it and see their girls angry at them and walk off, they go after them to apologize.

The others just chuckle at this, then they look to Lincoln. "How come you're not going all lovey dovey for Miss Dimartino?" asked Clyde.

"Well, I have my own special someone and I have met her on Saturday at Huntington Oaks and I helped with her backyard issues while she was doing grade from the Middle School. So, I guess I'm not entranced by her anymore" replied Lincoln.

Jordan then puts her arm around his and leans onto him. "And a good thing too, otherwise I'd beat the living day lights out of you at dodge ball for having goo-goo eyes for our substitute teacher again."

They all nervously chuckle at that and so does Lincoln. "You were kidding right Jordan?" She just giggles. "Right Jordan? That was a joke right?"

Chloe then looks to Clyde. "Why aren't you like the other guys? From what I heard from Jenny, that a lot of guys have a huge crush on her. Mind telling us why you're not affected?"

Clyde looks between Chloe and his friends, all of them have smirks on their faces and chuckle a bit. "Umm, maybe because I'm over my crush on older women now?" He was hoping that would be a good excuse.

Chloe looks to him a bit confused. "Huh, I guess that makes sense. You did say you once had a crush on one of Lincoln's former sister's Lori and now that crush is gone and you're over admiring older girls. Good for you Clyde."

"Y-Yeah, good for me." Clyde watches as Chloe walks ahead to get to her locker.

Lincoln looks to Clyde. "When the times is right, then you can tell her how she feels about you and how you feel about her. Just be patient and listen to your heart, okay bud?"

Clyde snaps out of it and he smiles at his best friend. "Thanks buddy, that's what I needed. Because I am going to ask her when it's next month!" Clyde then heads to his locker.

They were all not expecting that from Clyde. "Did he say next month?" asked Sadie. They all nodded.

They then see the other guys talking to their girls that they'll change from going goo-goo eyes over Ms. Dimartino, they were going to give them this one chance to make what they say possible or they will take one week from each other and that was one thing they did not want.

Lincoln shook his head. "Dang. Some things are not easy to get over." He then goes over to his locker.

"We can only hope they can survive a whole day of Ms. Dimartino being our substitute teacher, otherwise they might have nosebleeds worse than Clyde's" replied Jordan as she opens her locker.

Then they hear the bell ring. "Time for class guys" said Mollie. They then see the boys following their girls and looking nervous. "And time to see if they can live up to they're promises. This is gonna be fun."

They all follow them into the classroom and see how it will all go down.

(Royal Woods High School.)

Luna enters the music room and she sees Sam already there and checking on the grand piano and keyboard. "Hey there babe, good news is we don't have first period due to a problem with some raccoons in the classroom so we got the whole first period to ourselves in rehearsals."

"Yeah, that sounds kinda cool there babe." Luna goes over and she gets her acoustic guitar out. "Alright, let's get this new song I came up with ready and set. The gig is later in the noon which is right after I have to take Lincoln to the mall."

Sam then stops Luna. "Tell me, did you and your kid talk things through?"

Luna smiles. "We did. Though, it was kinda an emotional problem and we both nearly lost our cool and we broke down into a bit of a mess and I figured out why he was kinda scared of me when I was miffed at him. But we're all good now and later I'm going to let him take the whole afternoon with what he was planning to do. I'll pick him up when he's done."

Sam smiles hearing this. "That is awfully nice of you Lunes. You can't always be there for your kid just to keep him safe. Just be there when he needs you the most or when trouble is bound to happen okay?"

Luna smiles and kisses Sam on her cheek. "Okay, thanks for this talk babe. Now, let's make this song of ours a possibility."

"We gotta wait for the violinists first, even though we're supposed to be a duet, this song you made needs some extra vocals and some classic tuning" replied Sam as she gets into position onto the piano.

Then the doors open and they see their other two members of the music club and both of them have their violins ready. Carol and Beatrix. "Sorry we were late guys, we nearly got caught in the biggest hallway traffic" said Carol. "But we're here now and we are so ready for this."

"I told my parents what I was doing and they said it was okay!" said Beatrix.

This shocks them. "Whoa what? You told them that you were in our club?" asked Sam.

Beatrix nods. "They were surprised at first and I thought they were going to bring up the whole well roundedness thing, but they said that they'll support me with whatever choice I have and so will my siblings. They said they owe this new perceptive of parental change to you Luna, you showed them that you don't have to take control of your kids and show them the right things to do. Be there for the things and hobbies they wish to accomplish and I wanna do mine, sorta."

Luna smiles. "Well, I guess I did leave one heck of an imprint onto things. You're welcome Beatrix. Did you tell them that you were going to be with us on the gig after school at the big gulpers at the mall?"

"I did and they are going to be there to watch me perform with you guys" said Beatrix, and she sounds really excited. "Oh! My first gig that doesn't involve some lame people at a big theater and just normal people at a restaurant! I am so … What was thing you say? Stoked for this!"

They all chuckle at Beatrix and her outburst of joy. "Easy there Beatrix. We don't want you blowing up into confetti" said Carol. They all chuckle and so does Beatrix.

"So, what's the song and where do we come in?" asked Beatrix to Luna.

Luna hands them the lyric sheets. "This is the song dudes and you guys just have to follow as the song goes and it'll all be smooth sailing." They look to the name of the song. "A Thousand Years."

"Wow. This title sounds kinda nice, let's get it started then" said Carol. Beatrix and Carol ready on their violins, Sam gets onto the piano and Luna has her acoustic ready and they begin their rehearsal.

All while Sully and Mazzy see this and smile, they decide to leave them be. Luna and Sam have more gigs then they do. "Should we tell Luna that a lot of the peeps who we perform wanna see her?" asked Mazzy.

"No, I don't wanna stress her out and make things complicated" replied Sully. "Maybe she'll figure it out and think about things. Let Luna and Sam have this nice duet gig they have, they are really b getting the hang of it." They both walk off down the halls.

Mazzy is about to slip from the floor, but Sully holds onto her. "You okay Mazzy?"

Mazzy sees that they're holding hands and they look to each other and blush. "Yeah, I am." They then let go and continue to walk together. They both have no clue what just happened, but it felt nice and right.

(Skip, After School Royal Woods Elementary.)

Lincoln and Jordan come out of the school and they see their pals and gals getting along once again. "Looks like they did it, they lasted one whole school day with Ms. Dimartino in the area, good for them." replied Lincoln.

"Yeah, otherwise they'd look like heaps of messes for one whole month" chuckled Jordan. Then she realizes. "Was that mean of me to say?"

They then see Luna's Ferrari arrive. "Hey kiddo, ready for the mall?"

Lincoln smiles. "You know I am mom." He then kisses Jordan. "Call you later." He then races off to his mom's car and Jordan waves at him. "Call you too." She then heads to the school bus and joins her friends.

Lincoln gets to the passenger's seat and he sees Sam, Carol and Beatrix at the back of the car. "Hey Lincoln!" they all greeted with smiles.

Lincoln is shocked by this. "Wow. Hey, I guess you girls have someplace to be too." He then gets in and he closes the door. "So, why are you guys here?" Luna then drives off.

"Well, your mom and the rest of us have a gig at the new Big Gulpers Coffee shop in the Royal Woods Mall" replied Sam. "And so we decided to take that gig before we get to Giovanni-Chang's on Saturday."

"Luna and Sam needed us because the song needs some classic tunes from the violins" said Carol.

"This is my first gig with friends and not at some fancy place! I am so excited and my family is going to be there to support me!" said Beatrix.

Lincoln chuckles at Beatrix and her excited mood. "Easy there Beatrix. Looks like you're going to overload with so much fun in ya, also good for you that you told your family and that they're okay with it."

"Thanks, and all thanks to your mom" replied Beatrix.

Lincoln looks to Luna. "What is she talking about mom?"

Luna chuckles. "Let's just say perhaps my words to them have changed their thoughts and their vision of raising their kids." They continue they're drive towards the Royal Woods Mall.

(Royal Woods Mall.)

They all enter the mall and have their gear in their hands. Sam was told that they have a grand piano at the location of their gig, so that's a good thing.

Lincoln then sees the pawnshop and so does Luna. Luna goes to her son. "If you're done with your gig, either look fo is at the Big Gulp café or wait at the fountain or by the Food Court okay kiddo?"

Lincoln nods. "Got it mom, and don't worry, I'm gonna be fine. I just need to do this big thing to make sure that whatever you get for your birthday, it'll be special, and from me."

Luna smiles and she hugs her son and he hugs his mom. "Take care kiddo" said Luna.

"Don't worry too much about me mom, go to your gig and show them what you guys can do" said Lincoln. They then break away from the hug.

Lincoln heads to the pawn shop and Luna and the others head onto the Big Gulp Café. Luna does look back and watch as her son goes into the place and he talks to the owner who shakes his hand to him.

"Luna, he'll be fine" replied Sam. Luna sighs and she follows the group to their gig.

(Royal Woods Mall Pawn Shop.)

Lincoln goes to the back, along with the manager Alfonse Willhelm. A man in his late 40's has grey hair on the side of his head and brown hair at the top. He has a brown goatee with some grey color in it, tall man not that fit, light blue polo, brown pants and black belt, black shoes and he has glasses.

"Okay, so this is where we're going to smelt down the silver bars into liquid and that's where you can tinker with the semi solidified silver into the shape you seek." He then hands Lincoln some safety goggles, gloves, a fire proof apron, boots and some other protection.

"Are you sure you can handle this? I can do this for you and it'll be okay" asked Alfonse.

"No thank you sir." Lincoln puts the apron around him and then puts on the goggles. "I wanna make this special, by my hands so it can show how much my mom means to me and so she knows how I much I care about her more than anything."

Alfonse smiles at this. "Very well then, if you need any help or if there is any trouble than call me. I will be in the shop checking on some of the things I need to categorize."

"Will do sir" replied Lincoln. The owner then gets to the shop and leaves Lincoln be. Lincoln then sees the image of what he wants to make. "Time to make this happen." He then grabs 3 silver bars and he smelts them down. He watches as each one is turning into a liquid form and then he pushes the lever and it all pours into a bucket and he gets to work.

Lincoln didn't buy anything, yesterday he asked the man of the shop if he can give him some lessons on how to make a silver necklace and he gave the man the cash earned so he can make it himself in his shop.

Alfonse was told why he wants to do this and he understands, he knows that something's were meant to be made by hand and not by someone else. It shows how much you've put yourself into makin that special thing for that special someone and for Lincoln, his mom means so much.

So, Alfonse let's Lincoln use the back where he makes the silver materials into fancy things, he wants to let the boy work his hardest and he accepts the cash, but not all of it. This is something more than money, it's about sediment and emotional value from the heart of a son to his mother.

Alfonse looks into the back and he sees Lincoln using the tools to make the beaded shape from the silver and then he starts to make another and another. It's going to be a lot of work, but Lincoln is going to go through with it. All the way, no stops!

Alfonse smiles and he goes back to his work. 'I think I should call my mother in Belgium. I wanna tell her about this kid and how much he reminds me of myself.' He then heads to his phone.

(Big Gulp Café.)

Luna is pacing back and forth and looking through the lyric sheets again. "Okay, so Sam and I know our lines on each verse and the bridge and the chorus, and you two know how to stick to making the song sound nice and all romantic like right?"

Sam, Carol and Beatrix know Luna is kinda stressed out. Sam goes over to her and stops Luna from pacing back and forth. "Luna, calm down. Everything is going to be okay. We know your kid is on your mind, but just know that he's going to be okay. Let him do his own thing for you and you do your own thing as well, okay babe?"

Luna then sighs. "Yeah, okay. Sorry guys, I'm just kinda still on edge with my son and where he goes and what he does. Kinda still at a loss for my own thoughts."

Carol and Beatrix go towards Luna. "Luna, Lincoln is a hardworking and devoted kid. He's doing this for you, because you have been there to be more than a sister. You're his mom and always will be" said Carol.

"You have done a lot of things to help him through a lot of hardships and heartbreaking moments. Let him do something good for you" said Beatrix. "But mostly, do this for Lincoln. What you're doing, this duet gig you and Sam have. Let Lincoln know you did the best you could so he can be proud of what his mom is trying to do."

Luna smiles and hugs all of them. "Thanks dudes, I needed this, I needed this a lot!" Luna sheds some tears and so do the others. "You're welcome Luna."

They then break away from the hug. "Wow. This song is supposed to be romantic, but let's make it into something a bit emotional and romantic. Like a book, or a novel legacy."

They all look to each other and nod. "Then let's do this!" said Sam. Then they see the manager signaling them it was time.

Luna takes a deep breath. "Let's do this thing." They follow her onto the stage which was dark, and as the light turns on they start the tune from Sam on the piano and they let the soothing tunes make it all happen.

(An hour and a half later.)

Luna, Sam, and Carol all chat as they head out of the Café. "That was …. Wow, did you see everyone act so emotional?" said Carol.

"That felt good. That felt ding dang good" said Sam. "I never knew romantic songs could make people feel so deep within, they all shed tears as we sang and it made everything so clear and crystal."

Luna then sees Beatrix talking to her family who were all proud of her and they wave to her, Luna waves back and she continues to walk with Sam and Carol. "Yeah, it was. Felt like a thousand year's more for me to spend the rest of my happy life with the love of my life and the best dang son I ….. We got."

Sam smiles. "Yeah, same here babe. Same here."

Carol smiles seeing this. "So, Lincoln is also your kid too Sam?"

Sam chuckles. "Well. He does see me as his other parent figure, so yeah. I guess he's also my kid, only when Luna says so."

"He is and always will be. We both keep an eye on him and he trusts you as he trusts and loves me." Luna then checks her phone and sees Lincoln is still in the same place. She decides to let him be. "How about we go and see if there's anything in the mall worth shopping for?"

Carol and Sam smile hearing that. "Sounds like a dang good idea Lunes, let's do it" said Sam. They then head to Reiningers to see what's new.

(Royal Woods Mall Pawn Shop.)

Lincoln takes off his safety goggles and he wipes his face with some water and a clean rag. He then sighs and looks at the progress he made and the things he cleaned up after he used them. 'Wow, and it took me more than an hour to do. I guess my hard work made things kinda fly by or I was in the zone and things speeded up a bit.'

Lincoln then goes over to the crafting table and he looks to what he made. 'Mom is going to love this, so, so much!'

"You done in here kid?" asked Alfonse. "I don't hear any clanging or tinkering."

"I am sir." Lincoln then places the silver object he made onto the purple cushioning of the black box. He then closes the box and sees the front of it says Luna Loud. Lincoln smiles at the kind thing the man made. "Though, you really didn't have to make this box."

"No need to worry kid, this one is free of charge and for you to keep. Make sure your mom gets this one time and show her how much she truly does mean to you, for her birthday of course" replied Alfonse.

"Thank you sir." Lincoln then removes the apron and the rest of the safety things. He does have a few marks on his arms from the heat and tinkering, but he pays no attention to them and he takes the box and puts it into his school bag. "Thanks again for letting me do this in your shop sir."

"No problem and if you have anything else you wanna personally make then my shop is always open" replied Alfonse.

"I'll take note on that one, bye Mr. Willhelm." Lincoln then walks out of the Pawnshop. The man waves goodbye to him and he goes back to checking on everything else. 'Good kid, his mom would be proud of him.'

Lincoln then goes around and he waits by the fountain. He then looks to the box again and smiles. "This is all for you mom, always."

"Lincoln!" He puts the box away and he sees his mom along with Sam and Carol come towards him. "Hey mom, how was the gig?"

Luna goes over and she hugs her son. "The gig went well and we made everyone feel so emotional. But I need to know, are you okay kiddo?" She then sees the small black marks on his arms.

Lincoln chuckles and he hugs his mom. "I'm fine mom, I'm okay. I just did some personal work to make something special for you. Something I made with my own two hands."

They then break the hug and Luna kisses his forehead. "You're always the limelight to make my reason the very top priority, come on. Let's take you home and get you cleaned up, also I bought some take out for us to enjoy."

"Cool" replied Lincoln. They all head out of the mall and make their way back home.

A/N: Lincoln has done it, and he is closing in to Luna's Birthday. Some of you guys might guess what he made for Luna, but the big reveal will be for next time. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
