Time for some early chapter ideas that could make it look wicked for next month. Enjoy reading folks.

Chapter 44: Good Company.

(Royal Woods Elementary.)

Lincoln goes through the doors of the school and he sees Clyde rush towards him. "Lincoln! I am so glad you showed up! I found out something you need to know and fast!"

Lincoln is confused by this. "Okay, what the heck is it?"

"Come one, come on!" Clyde then grabs Lincoln and he drags him through the hallway and they make it to a poster on the wall. "This!"

Lincoln sees the poster. "The Royal Woods 6th graders talent show, audition begin next week on Monday and the performance commences on the 9th of October." He then looks to Clyde. "Why did you show me this?"

"Well, I thought you'd wanna join this. This could help you find out what you're really good at and everyone can see just how talented you are and not just being called the Man-with-the-Plan!" said Clyde. "There are going to be a lot of other kids joining in, even Rusty!"

Lincoln thinks about this. "Sounds kinda tough to do and also could be nice to show everyone what my talent is and I know what it is, but I don't think they'll let me participate Clyde."

Clyde is confused and concerned about what he just said. "What? Why not?"

"Says here I have to show off my own personal talent and not like the others, which means I can't show everyone my skills on the acoustic" replied Lincoln. "Mom taught me how to make some good vibes and tunes and I doubt they'll let me and just accept Tabby since she's far more talented than I am."

"Who said I was even going to be part of it?" They then see Tabby and Liam. "Also, that poster has been misplaced." She then removes it and places the real one. "There was a typo when Coach Pokawski made this and next time they are not having him make the fliers for the talent show, so they asked me and Liam here to get the job done and we did. Now we have to replace 20 more around the school."

They then see that they can let out any kind of talent, which means it doesn't matter how many kids have musical talent. They can all show them what they can do.

"And it says here that the judges are going to be Sheryl, Mrs. Johnson and Ms. Dimartino, cool" replied Lincoln. "Looks like I can show everyone what I can do for the talent show and I'm sure mom will love this too."

Liam looks to Tabby. "Why aren't you going to be part of it?"

"I've been acing this since it started in the 4th grade and sure enough I am in need of some serious break time from showing how rocking I am with my own musical stuff. So, why not let someone else take the front like and show the whole school what the next gen of music can do, and Lincoln does have a musically talented mum and it only proves he can be as musically talented as she is."

Lincoln smiles. "Wow. Thanks Tabby that means a lot. Also, has anyone seen Jordan?"

"There she is" said Liam. They see Jordan Rosato alongside her gal pals, mostly just Sadie, Joy and Cookie. "Hey gang. You all interested in the 6th grade school talent show?"

"We are and Lincoln here is going to go musical all over it right bud?" said Clyde.

Lincoln chuckles. "Yeah, yeah it's true. You guys planning to take part in it?"

"Most of us" replied Sadie. "Mostly Mollie, Kat, Trent, Christina and Jenny. We don't know where they are, but chances they must be coming up with some ideas for their talent."

Then they see Zach, Rusty, Polly, Stella, Flat Tire along with Dennis and Patrick coming towards them. "I saw Kat and Trent in the dance classroom, I think they're going to do a one on one dance together" said Stella. "As for me, I am going to do some light show tricks with the tech and tools I got!"

"The piano is my gig, though I think I'll add something a bit extreme into it" said Rusty. They did not like the sound of that.

"Rusty, try not to break anything" said Liam. "Like the other times you wanted to add something in chemistry class and things went bad real fast."

"Come on man, it was just that one time" said Rusty in annoyance. "So, anyone else going to show what they got for the talent show?"

"Well, I don't wanna brag. But I am planning on something, but I ain't gonna tell you guys. It's a secret and am tag teaming with someone special I have been seeing lately" replied Zach.

"Ooooooh! Looks like Zachary has his own special someone!" said Cookie. "We are talking about a girl right?"

"Yeah" replied Zach as he blushes. "And when you guys see us perform you are all going to have your minds blown! Well, not literally, just amazed or something."

"I think we get the idea" said Jordan. She then goes over to her boyfriend. "And what about you Lincoln? Anything to share for us when you head on stage?"

"Well, I was thinking of doing my acoustic jams" replied Lincoln. "My mom taught me a lot about tuning and finding the right rhythm that sounds right and I think I'll add a song into it as well. But I won't tell my mom, yet. Unless I pass the auditions, then I'm headed to the talent show."

"Wow. Determined and persistent. All the respect man" said Dennis.

"What about you two boys?" asked Stella. "You guys going to the talent show and perform?"

Dennis and Patrick whisper to each other. "That one is a kind of trade secret, but we will tell you guys that it is going to be kinda awesome when we go on stage and no it does not involve math and chess" replied Patrick.

Dennis then checks his watch. "Speaking of which, I gotta get going and practice my spelling. I'm competing in the Royal Woods Spelling Bee and we are so going to win!" He then heads off to begin his practice and Patrick follows to help him.

Lincoln and the gang watch as they head off. "And to think, they started off as two bad goons for Chandler McCann, and now look at them. Friendly and looking forward to awesome things they wanna try out. Looking for their own talents and seeing what they're future holds" said Lincoln.

"One could only imagine what could've happened if they did remain under the command of Chandler" said Jordan. "They could've ended up on the wrong side of the curb."

"Clyde!" Clyde turns around and sees Chloe. "Oh, hey Chloe. How are you doing?"

"I am going to be in the talent show! I signed up earlier and I am going to show everyone just how graceful I can be when I dance!" said Chloe.

"Wow. That's awesome, well we can only hope on whoever wins can revel in the glory and the cheers of everyone" replied Tabby. "Also, take a look at what the prize is fellas."

They all look to the flier and read it. The Grand Prize is a Trophy and a one month free dinner at Jean-Juan's. "What?!"

"That's right, Jean-Juan's is sponsorin' the whole event and they are willing to let a one month free dinner as the prize, now that there is what I call a heck of a winner!" said Liam. "And all the worth to win it!"

Lincoln smiled seeing this, he could spend some night out dinner with his mom and also use this so he can Jordan can go on another date, with free dinner. "Well, looks like we all got some work to do."

"Dang right we do!" said Clyde. "Well to those who are joining. Also, Liam are you participating too?"

"Heck yes I am and I am going to show ya'll how accurate I can be when I start tossin' them darts and other stuff, after school I'm gonna show this to my ma and pa and ask if I can have Virginia as my assistant." They could only imagine if that pig is tied to a spinning wheel and Liam starts throwing knives and now they don't wanna picture it. Poor pig.

"Well, good luck for you I guess" said Zach. They then hear the bell ring. "Well, time for class guys and let's hope Miss Dimartino isn't the teacher today."

"Hello students, hurry to class we have a lot to discuss with the language of French" said Miss Dimartino as she walks by them, the boys look to her with a love daze. Except for Lincoln and Clyde.

"And looks like it's time for one week of surviving not losing their love from their gals" said Lincoln. The others also chuckle, but Liam and Rusty were nervous about this. They make their way to the classroom, time to see who can last before they break down into their crush on the substitute teacher.

(Royal Woods High School.)

Luna closes her locker and she sees Sam talking to Sully and Mazzy, so she goes over. "Hey dudes, so what's going on?"

"Mazzy and I have a gig for the first time as a rock n' roll duo. We're going to perform at the Aloha Comrade. After what happened with Lincoln, we're not welcome to Bangers n' Mosh until further notice" replied Sully.

"The place doesn't want its reputation ruined after some unnerving incidents" replied Mazzy nervously. "Same goes with ten other businesses linked to Bangers n' Mosh, kinda bogus if you ask me."

Luna and Sam know how they feel. "Look, we get that you guys wanna have the whole band back together, but this isn't our choice to make. This is Luna's" said Sam. "We do not want another gut wrenching repeat like last time."

"We know, we're just kinda not in the good when it comes to planning our own gigs" said Sully. "You were kinda right Lunes, we have a hard time trying to sort the plan, schedule and other things we need for an incoming gig. Mazzy and I can only do so much and yet you can handle so much pressure."

"True" replied Mazzy. "You handle the calls, Chunk's services and assisting him, the songs we need, the lyric sheets, the gear, the venues and the exact time for when it has to start. We only got one gig because we were under pressure when we got ten calls and we had no choice but to turn them down."

Luna can see just how hard it is for them to see things, without the band leader. "Guys, hang in there. That's all I gotta say to you two. Try and make this work and perhaps you guys can be able to handle being a duet rock band, without Sam and me. We got our thing and you two got yours."

"Yeah, we know. Thanks for the talk Lunes" said Sully. "Our gig is on Saturday, but we were asked by that lady from the theater club for the theme music for the play and we went for that too."

"A first gig, and at school. Sounds like a good start before Sully and I make it to the actual venue" replied Mazzy. "Learn to experience how the folks like the music with the play and let the good vibes come through when we hit the actual stage, just the two of us."

Luna smiles hearing this. "That's the spirit. See? You two are getting it already, just give it some time and let it flow and grow through you and it'll all become so clear."

They then see the janitor being carried by the football jocks and he looks hurt. "What the heck happened to him?" asked Sam.

Carol came. "Accident trying to fix the lights in the jocks showers, he's gonna need a long break also I need to tell you guys that the music room has received its new harp."

"Thanks Carol" replied Luna. "You sure know how to let everyone keep track of things in the school."

"I am the school president, member of the music club, president of the debate team and the math club. I got a lot on my hands to manage and yet I know what to do" replied Carol. "And a little heads up, today's recess is Tuna sandwiches, there aren't enough taco shells so that will be for next week."

Carol then walks away and heads to her next class. "Glad my mom packed me some cake, I am not a fan of Tuna sandwiches" replied Mazzy.

They then hear the bell ring. "Well, time for next period. We better get a move on" said Sam. They all head to their next class. Sam then looks to Luna. "So, tomorrow?"

Luna chuckles. "You remember don't ya? Good to know, I'm looking forward to what my kid is gonna show me too. He worked so hard on whatever it is and got a lot of black marks on him, like he was welding something, or smelting something."

Sam kisses Luna's cheek. "Whatever it is, I know that it's going to be the best Birthday Gift you have ever gotten."

Sully and Mazzy are shocked. "What? Your Birthday is tomorrow?!"

Luna looks to them. "You guys forgot?" All they see is the shocked expressions from their friends and this makes Luna and Sam laugh. "Wow. Things are about to get epic tomorrow for me."

(Skip Recess, Royal Woods Elementary.)

Clyde looks to everyone. "Okay, so we have Liam trading his hash browns for Cookie's strawberry shortcake, Rusty trading his chicken wings for Zach's Fudge brownies and Stella trading her pizza slices for Kat's egg rolls. Anyone else wanna trade?"

They all just look to each other and none complies. "I think we're good Clyde" replied Lincoln.

"Okay, then you may trade guys. This is a good trade too" replied Clyde. They continue to read and then eat their lunch.

They look to Lincoln who is eating his bacon and sauerkraut sandwich. "You haven't traded anything from us since school first began" said Joy. "Something wrong Lincoln?"

Lincoln swallows his food. "Sorry guys, it's just after what happened with me and mom on Saturday, some part of me just wants to appreciate whatever my mom packs for me. Sorry that I won't be making any lunch trades."

"It's cool Lincoln, we know how much your mom mean to you and that you two are still going through some emotional stuff" replied Stella.

"How long is this emotional problem gonna last though?" asked Rusty. "We all feel bad for you, but you gotta at least try and get things straightened out and be the kid you once were, just a slight bit different." They all look to Rusty and Polly elbows him. "Ow. What? I wasn't sounding mean to him, I was just asking guys."

Lincoln sighs. "Its okay guys, I guess only time will tell until mom and I can see things in a positive perspective. Though we only see things in a good way when we hang out with those we love and most of the times it's with each other."

"Wow man. Most kids would be embarrassed at how much affection their mom shows them, but you stand tall and don't let them mock you or how you're mom loves you. Now that take some tough skin and a backbone to take" said Dennis.

"All my respect here. I could only feel sorry for anyone who mocks you and your mom" said Patrick. "And I think some kids like to do that." They spot some very familiar boys from when Lincoln faced them at the pool and the very same ones from the incident with Ronnie Anne.

"I am so glad we're not part of their crew now" said Trent. Artie, Lance, Dennis and Patrick also agree.

"You want us to give them the word on not mocking you Linc?" asked Mollie as she crunches her knuckles. "I can so give them a wedgie for this!"

"No thanks guys, I don't want you all to take the trouble for what they do to me. I can take it, besides they're not hurting anyone" replied Lincoln. One of the boys from the other table throws an apple at him, but Lincoln looks to the ground. "Hey a dollar." He ducks down and the apple flies over and hits the lunch lady who spills her soup and the soup hits Principal Huggins!

"Huh, just ten bucks, still a good find for me." Lincoln puts the cash into his pocket and then sees the shocked looks from his friends. "What?" Then he sees Huggins. "What the heck happened?"

The students who saw this point to the group of boys on the table. "You three! My office now!" The guards come and they take the boys way, they start saying that they didn't mean it and one of them blurts out they were aiming at Lincoln, this infuriates Huggins a lot more, they are in so much trouble.

Lincoln shrugs this off and continues with his lunch. "See, like I said I don't want you guys taking the heat for me and let things go on as it should be. By the right hands."

They all decide to let this be and continue with their lunch. Lucy sees this and smiles. 'Yup, the same old big brother who knows what to do is still there and still as awesome as he always is.'

"Would you like to trade for my dark chocolate cake Lucy?" asked Haiku.

"Sure, and you can have my pancakes" said Lucy. "My mom made them the shape of a dead body and the strawberry juice filling is like blood."

The rest of the young Morticians club looks to it. "Wicked." Then someone goes to them. "Hey guys, can I sit with you dudes?" They see it was Rock Spokes, the little brother of Rusty Spokes.

The club president Bartholomew looks to the orange haired boy and recalls he is as cool as Lucy is and knows how to make fake blood look legit. "Why not, welcome to the Young Morticians Club table."

"Thanks man." Rocky sits next to Lucy, which makes her smile a bit. "Also, I was wondering. Do you guys have any openings for a new member?" They all stop eating and look to him. "I mean, it's cool if guys don't have any."

"No, no. I think we can make an exception. We'll need to discuss this later" said Bartholomew. They then continue to eat their lunch, Lucy was liking this. Rocky being part of the club and being Goth is like a dark princesses dream come true, sorta.

Lincoln sees this and smiles. 'Good for you Luce and Rocky too.' Then Jordan looks to Lincoln. "So, you got the gift for your mom ready for tomorrow?"

"Yes, yes I do and I know she's going to love it and I also got the picture for it as well to make it even more special" replied Lincoln. "Also, Sam and I are organizing the whole thing and we're inviting some guys to be part of it. Chances Sully and Mazzy might come, so we have to tell Great Grandma Harriet to not kick them out or scare the daylights out of them." He then hands invites to those he can trust. "It's cool if you don't bring gifts, just as long as some good company is there for my mom's birthday."

He hands invites to Jordan, Clyde, Tabby, Liam, Jenny and Stella. "Sorry I don't have any for the rest of you guys. But I went with what my gut told me and this is the best I could bring in, plus there are going to be a lot of teens there." They all look to Rusty.

"What? What is it?" They all know he might try and woo one of them which could end badly.

"I am so looking forward to this birthday, but what about Lucy?" asked Tabby. They all look to the former Goth sister of Lincoln who is talking with Rocky and Persephone.

Lincoln sighs. "As nice it would be to have her be part of the birthday. I'm gonna go with no, she is still going to be paranoid and scared of the place after the haunting she and Lynn went through and I don't want her to become a scared little girl who might need some help."

Jordan places a hand on his shoulder. "Doing the right thing Lincoln, we're all okay with it."

Lincoln and the others go back to lunch, he was still unsure about this but he knows it's all necessary. He and Sam wanna help make Luna's birthday the best she ever got. Her 16th Birthday and first one as a mom to Lincoln. It was almost like so much was on the line for Lincoln but it would be all worth it!

Meanwhile Lisa is showing Darcy some math equations for when they advance a bit. "This seems hard, but I think I understand some of it" said Darcy.

"See, baby steps when it comes to learning and as my sister and "Cat twin" I wish to make sure you can learn things and progress in education, not as smart as me, but still enough to pass" replied Lisa.

"Thank you Lisa, you're a really good sister now. I like that and so does our family!" Darcy hugs Lisa and Lisa hugs her back.

Lisa then sees Lincoln chatting with his friends and having fun and Lucy is also having some dark and Gothic fun with her Young Morticians Club. 'Look at what has become of us, I wish I could interact with them. But that would be the wrong thing and I do not wish to be into any form of trouble.'

Then Lisa recalls something important. 'Egad! Luna's 16th birthday is tomorrow and …. And I don't think Lincoln plans on inviting me or Lucy, but perhaps …. Maybe I can observe what is going on. I just need to wait for the right moment to make my move, without my family knowing. I must know how Lincoln and Luna are handling their life, I wanna know.'

Lisa then continues to show Darcy more on education and learning and teaching her sister how to read properly too.

Lincoln then gets a text from his mom.

"Eating lunch now and almost done, I'm gonna be headed to class soon and when we get back home, how about you and me order take out and watch a movie?"

Lincoln smiles and texts back.

"That sounds awesome mom. Can't wait, I'm also almost done with my lunch here. Talk to you when school is over."

Then he gets a reply.

"Okay kiddo, talk to you too soon. I love you son."

Lincoln smiles and texts back to his mom.

"And I love you too mom, always."

He then puts his phone away and he looks into his bag and he sees the black box with the name of his mom and he smiles. 'Tomorrow, I'm going to show how much you mean to me mom. The life we have now and all the love and sacrifice you've done to see me happy.'

He then pulls Jordan close to him and they chuckle and finish off their lunch as they all talk about the upcoming auditions to the talent show. But for Lincoln, he looks forward to tomorrow.
