Family of Two.
Chapter 45: Happy Birthday, mom/Luna.
(September 23, the Loud House.)
As the sun rises onto the home of the louds, well the only louds in the house. Luna Loud wake up and looks around, she then sees a smiling face watching her from a bean bag chair. "Good morning mom."
Luna smiles and she gets up and comes down from her top bunk, she then goes to Lincoln and hugs him. "Good morning sweetie, sleep well last night?"
"I did and I have a surprise for you." Lincoln steps aside and Luna sees on the table is a tray of pancakes with bits of bacon in them, and they form the words. "Happy Birthday mom."
Luna smiles and she kisses Lincoln's forehead and hugs him once more. "Thank you so much sweetie."
Lincoln chuckles and proceeds to return the hug. "Happy Birthday mom, I wanted to make something special for you, though I did get some help from our resident family ghost."
Luna then takes the plate of food and she sits onto the beanbag chair. "Come on kiddo, sit with me." Lincoln sits next to his mom and she kisses his cheek. "This is nice and all, but you really didn't have to go all the way to do this for me."
"Yeah, but this is your birthday and you're turning 16 now. I know things aren't the way we thought it would be with the whole family not with us and possibly not gonna be part of this, but I wanna make it feel nice so we can both be happy with what we have left, and that's each other as a mom and son" replied Lincoln.
Luna knows he's right, normally it would be better if the louds were one big happy family again and celebrating this day of awesomeness for Luna, but after all that has happened there is no way they can do that again. All they can do, is just enjoy this day just the two of them. Or so Luna thinks.
Luna then eats and looks to Lincoln. "What about you kiddo? Don't you want something to eat?"
"No, no. I already ate while I was helping Great Grandma Harriet earlier and I know we have school today, but there was this late news for every kid and teen in town." Lincoln shows his mom the phone and the message alert from the school principals.
"Royal Woods schools are being checked on by exterminators for any signs of vermin's, recently there has been news about an increase in raccoons around the town and the authorities are trying they're hardest to get rid of this infestation before it brings harm to anyone. Classes will resume on the following day, or when the inspection is done."
Luna is shocked by this. "Huh, well that's kinda weird, but at least we can spend some time together. Anything you got planned? I know this is gonna be like when you made that late mother's day for me last month."
"Well, we're gonna be going around town and spending some fun together, I wanna take you to some places that could really give us some more better moments. Just you and me mom" replied Lincoln.
"That's nice of you kiddo." Luna then continues to eat breakfast, Lincoln watches as his mom continues to eat and enjoy what he and Great Grandma Harriet made.
Deep down Lincoln was thinking. 'I really thought we'd go to school today, so the others could set everything up. Looks like Plan B has to be in motion and I have to make sure we make this day special, all for my mom.'
(Skip, hours later.)
Luna comes down the stairs and she sees Great Grandma Harriet waiting for her. "Hi Great Grandma Harriet, where's Linc at?"
"He's waiting for you outside and he seems really excited for spending this special day with you." Harriet then goes to Luna, breaks from her ethereal state and hugs her. "Happy Birthday Child, and to more to come. You've come so far from living in this house with the family and now you're living with your son Lincoln, I couldn't be more proud at how much you truly care for him, after everything that's happened."
Luna smiles and hugs her back. "Thanks." They then depart from the hug. "Well, I should get going now. Don't want my kid waiting too long." She then leaves the house with Great Grandma Harriet following.
Lincoln smiles seeing Luna. "Ready to go mom, and I got everything planned and set for what we're gonna do for today."
Luna chuckles. "I can tell this is gonna be one heck of a day for me, let's get going." They both get into the family purple Ferrari and they look to Great Grandma Harriet and wave goodbye to her, but Lincoln winks to her and gives her the thumbs up.
Harriet then watches them leave and waits till they're out of sight, then Sandra Millers comes out and looks to the elderly spirit and they both nod. Harriet then sees Mr. Grouse and he nods and goes back into his house. "Time to make this happen!"
Sandra gets her phone and sends a message to many people, or should I say friends to Lincoln and Luna. – The plan is a go! Get to the loud house and let's make this happen. We don't know how long we have, but let's make it move fast people!
Great Grandma Harriet goes into the house and uses her ghostly magic or something to make everything clean itself and then she heads to the kitchen. "Time to make something special."
(Royal Woods Mall.)
Lincoln and Luna are now walking around the mall and they look around the place and see some signs that are gonna be up soon, and a few decorations that'll be on sale as well. "Looks like everyone is stoked for the upcoming holiday for next month" replied Luna.
"Yeah, Halloween. Possibly the first one we'll have together" replied Lincoln. Deep down, he feels like he misses the old family and how they always do they're Halloween.
Luna can tell her kid is a bit saddened by something. "Linc, don't be upset. The one thing I don't want is to see my little boy looking down in the dumps for my B-Day, come on, we still got lots of things you have planned for the two of us."
Lincoln smiles hearing that and looks to his mom. "Yeah, we do. Come on, let's get going."
They both head to the Royal Woods Mall Cinema House, and both of them watch a movie that was both action and funny, and also had some great theme music.
They then head to the music store and look for some new stuff being sold, though Luna isn't planning to go through some rock n' roll stuff. She and that genre are still going through a rough patch since the last incident.
They head to the book store and they check out some books, Lincoln is looking at some nice adventure type books, while Luna is looking at a book about how to understand being a single mom.
They make their way to the clothes store at Reiningers and look for some new outfits to try and see what could work for their everyday normal clothing and they soon find some.
Lincoln – orange shirt with red cuffs and collar, purple hoodie with a guitar pick logo on the back, black bracelets with the name of "Team Pentakill" and black jeans.
Luna – Black and Purple top with a skull logo on the chest, purple long-sleeve jacket with a winking skull logo on the back, dark blue jeans with a white belt and black and purple boots.
They then make their way to the food court for something nice to eat and then talk about what's happening at school.
Lincoln still keeps it a secret that he's going to audition for the Royal Woods Grade School Talent show, and listens to what his mom has been going through, especially now that she has lots of friends.
Soon, they both continue to talk and eat then someone comes up to them. "Hi there." They both stop and look to the lady.
She looks like she's in her early 30's, brunette hair that seems like a mix of Luna and Lenis hair, fair skin, red dress, yellow belt, gold earrings, black leggings, a pink scarf and black heels.
"Umm, can we help you ma'am?" asked Luna. 'Where have I seen this chick before?'
"My name is Michelle Lewis and I'm from the new show that has been known all over America, and I heard so much about you and truly respect everything you've been through and along with my associate we heard about you and this music career you once dreamed of and I wanted to hand you this."
Lincoln and Luna look to the flier and what it says. "This November, come and be part of America's Next biggest Hitmaker."
Luna is confused. "So, you want me to be part of this show? Also, you're the lady who sang the Best Day Ever."
Michelle chuckles. "So glad someone actually recognized me since everyone else doesn't even know who I am, and yes we want you, Luna Loud to be part of our show! We can make your dreams of being a famous rock star come true! So, what do you say? You in?"
Lincoln then sees the upset look from his mom. "Oh no."
Luna feels like ripping this woman in half, but she calms down. "Sorry dude, but that's a no go for me." She hands back the flier to Michelle.
This shocks the Hollywood woman. "W-What? Are you sure? I mean, it is a big choice and I understand how nervous you can be when it comes to something that is the big time, stage jitters are normal."
Luna stands up and if now in front of Michelle Lewis. "Ma'am, I'm not gonna be part of something that could end up making me into something I don't wanna be, I am not ditching the role I have and certainly not going to sell my soul to some Hollywood crew who thinks it's a cool idea to make people into something that could push them away from what truly matters, and what matters to me is my son."
Michelle Lewis is confused and a bit stunned, but she too calms down. "I see, okay. Well, okay then." She's about to take her leave, but she turns around and looks to Luna. "You really are a great person to do this, I've never met any teen in my life and career who would do this kinda big role."
"I hope you and your kid can keep this family together." Michelle then takes her leave.
Lincoln goes over and holds Luna's hand. "Mom, you feeling okay?"
Luna looks to her son and smiles. "I'm fine, now what else is on the planning list?"
Lincoln is about to say more, but then he gets a message on his phone. "Hang on a sec mom." He then checks his phone and sees the message from Jordan.
Jordan – Lincoln, everything is set and ready and we're all waiting for you and you're mom to come home now.
Lincoln smiles, he puts his phone away and goes to Luna. "Mom, I think we should go home now. There's something I wanna show you."
Luna smiles. "Okay then, let's get going kiddo." They then head to the main door at the mall, but deep down she knows what's going on. 'This is gonna be a surprise party, I know it. Classic common loud thing to do.'
They head out of the mall and make their way to Luna's car and drive off. Unknown to them, Michelle Lewis sees them and smiles. 'Such a nice family, sure is a shame that they're other family isn't as trustworthy as they were before.'
Michelle Lewis gets into her Ferrari and she sees a message from her associate.
Doug Rockwell – So, did Luna Loud wanna be part of the show? Did she say yes? Also, I was able to find us some place to setup the show for November.
Michelle sighs, she knows he's not gonna like what she has to tell him. 'I hope he can be in a good mood today, the last thing I need is a complaining Doug, again.'
(The Loud House.)
The purple Ferrari makes it and both Lincoln and Luna come out and look to the house. "Why the heck is the house covered in musical note decorations?" asked Luna.
Lincoln holds her hand. "Come on, come on." He then drags his mom to the backyard.
When they get there, they are greeted by a big surprise. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUNA!"
Luna chuckles seeing this. Sam, Simon, the Sharp parents, Rick, Jesse, Jordan, they're dog Ajax, Carol, Dana, Becky, Beatrix, Sully, Mazzy, Chunk, Great Grandma Harriet, Tabby, Liam, Clyde, Sandra Merris, Danny StoneHeart, Mr. Grouse, Pop-pop and the D. Pingrey couple along with their daughter Lily.
She looks to the food, which was a chocolate cake with milk and dark chocolate frosting and the whole thing is in the shape of a skull with musical notes for eyes, kinda closely similar to the logo on her shirt and a logo she's seen from a YouTube channel.
Luna can also see the food, which was made by Great Grandma Harriet: Ice cream, Chips and dip, Spaghetti, fried chicken, Tamales, tacos, burritos, burgers and she ordered some Pizza. Eight boxes of pizza. They are gonna have some guests so she did came prepared for lots of food and drinks as well.
"Wow. You guys did think to make this day awesome" said Luna as she looks around.
"This was all made possible by Lincoln" replied Carol. "He's the one who came up with this plan after Monday and he made sure everyone was onboard, especially her."
They all step to the side and see a TV screen with wheels and someone was on it. "Hi guys!"
Luna is shocked and Lincoln is relieved this works. "Leni!" They go over to the blonde on the screen. "It's good to see you Leni, sure wish you were here to celebrate this with us" replied Luna.
"Same, but at least I get to see what's happening, also I have some cake here as well and I just finished my whole day of helping the patients. Now I have all the time I need to celebrate your birthday, with everyone else."
Luna smiles and looks to Lincoln. "Oh Linc, this is an awesome way to make this Birthday special!"
Luna is about to hug her kid, but Lincoln stops her. "Not yet mom, this day isn't special yet. Be right back!" He then heads back into the house to get something.
Luna smiles and she goes over to everyone else. Sam then looks to Luna. "Nice duds there Lunes, looks like you and Linc had an awesome time at the mall."
"We sure did, we watched a movie, went to the music store, red some books, had some lunch and went to Reiningers for the clothing" replied Luna. "Then came Michelle Lewis who gave me an offer to be part of her show."
"Michelle Lewis?" asked Sully. "The lady who is the co-host of America's Next biggest Hitmaker?! No freaking way! And she even asked you to be part of the show?!"
"Dude, that sounds awesome! So, what did you say to her?" asked Mazzy.
They then see the unamused look from Luna. Then they figured out she said no and Sully and Mazzy need to back off, they know she's not planning to be famous in rock and roll. Great Grandma Harriet keeps a close eye on the former band mates of Luna, they're lucky to be here, or she'd go Paranormal Activity on them.
Luna then interacts with Pop-pop and everyone else, then Lincoln comes back with a box. "Linc, is this what you made at the mall?"
Lincoln nods. "Yeah, it is. I wanted to make you something special, to truly show you how much you mean to me. You're my mom and that role is the best thing that has ever happened, and I know that this won't be enough, because I know that the best gift you have ever had was to have me as your son."
Luna sheds some tears hearing this and she kneels down to her son. "Oh Lincoln." The others also awe at this cute sight and what he said to Luna.
Lincoln then hands his mom the box and she opens it, she did like her name on the cover, but whatever is inside shocks her the most. "What?"
There it was, a necklace made of silver. Each bead was handmade and had some letters on each one and when put together closely, they spell out. "You are the best sister, the best guardian and now the bets mom ever. I love you so much mom."
Luna then sees the rabbit shaped locket also made of silver. She opens it and sheds tears seeing what's inside. On one side of the locket, is a picture of her and Lincoln when she first held him, and on the other is a picture of them when they won the court and they became a Family of Two!
Luna sheds some tears and is now emotional from what this is, Lincoln then takes the necklace and she puts it around her neck. "This is for all the times you have been there for me, as a sister, guardian and now, my mom."
Luna looks to the locket in the shape of a rabbit and the words from behind it. "From you're first son, Lincoln Loud."
This breaks the damn and Luna sheds so many tears, she then hugs her son tightly. "Thank you, thank you so much Lincoln."
Lincoln sheds some tears and also hugs his mom. "You're welcome mom. Happy Birthday, and I love you, your son will always love you momma." He then kisses her cheek and continues to hug her.
Luna kisses his forehead. "Momma loves you too Linc, always and always my child."
Everyone else sheds tears from this, and some of them record this video for memory.
Sam, Simon and Jordan go over and hug them as well. Clyde sheds so many tears and was glad he didn't bring his dad's, otherwise it could end badly.
Leni sighs and wipes away some tears. 'I can't wait for when I get to go back home, and possibly be part of so many new adventures with them. Forgiveness and Trust is a long way for the others though.'
Pop-pop sighs. 'I can't wait to bring my sweet heart here to meet them for the first time. Let's hope they like her too.'
Great Grandma Harriet smiles. 'This is just the start of good things, but bad things will come. No matter what happens, they will endure and this family will still be together, for the future to come.'
Luna then recalls something as she continues to hug her son. 'Linc's birthday is next month, I have to make it as special as this one. He deserves so much for making this happen for me, he's the best son I've ever had and I'll always treasure this moment and everything else with him, always!'
