This is the best I could make as an aftermath to Luna's birthday, hope this is okay and I'll come up with more chapters as time goes on. Enjoy reading folks.
Family of Two.
Chapter 46: Just the two of us today.
(The Loud House.)
The sun shines once more over the loud house, and Great Grandma Harriet is busy making breakfast and keeping the place clean. She then goes over the pictures left behind from yesterday and she smiles seeing them.
"That was a really nice party and what Lincoln made for Luna was the best thing I have ever seen, sure hope they can continue with good vibes and good times. But I do feel as if something is bound to happen, soon. Whatever it is, we must be ready to fight it off."
Upstairs, in the room shared by the mother and son. Luna opens her eyes and she looks around, she then sees her son Lincoln is fast asleep next to her on the top bunk. Luna smiles and she kisses his cheek, this wakes him up and Luna smiles seeing his eye open. "Morning Linky, sleep well?"
Lincoln smiles and he hugs his mom. "I did, but I don't wanna go to school today, I feel like I just wanna spend the day with you mom."
Luna smirks and she strokes his white hair and kisses his forehead. "Linc, come on now. School will be back tomorrow, the news hasn't gone out that classes will continue and we have a whole day for just the two of us."
Lincoln doesn't budge from this and hugs tighter. "I know, I know. I just wanna spend it like this, just for a while. I love you mom."
Luna smiles and she hugs him back. "I love you too my child." She then looks to the necklace still around her neck and she smiles seeing the pictures inside of it. "Forever and ever baby."
(Two hours later.)
Lincoln is in the bathroom and is brushing his teeth, he then spits and looks to himself and soon the shower curtains open and Luna comes out in her towel. She then hugs Lincoln and then fixes his hair. "Shower's all yours kiddo, don't try and take too long, we don't want what Great Grandma made get cold."
Lincoln chuckles and grabs his towel. "I won't." Lincoln then takes his turn in the shower and Luna heads back into the room, she then sees her phone go off and then Lincoln's phone go off and she checks the messages.
Sam – Hey babe, that was a pretty rad party and some of us are still reeling from the all-nighter we did and I'm not really feeling like a chill time to hang out. So, I hope you and Linc have an awesome day together.
Jordan – Hey Linc, I'm gonna be busy with my friends at the mall, so you can your mom can spend the whole day together. See you soon, or when classes begin tomorrow, love you handsome.
Luna smiles seeing this and then she goes over to her closet to grab some clothes. 'I should make this day for me and Lincoln. I need to come up with some plan for us to spend it and have the best mom and son bond, better than the bond we had when we were siblings.'
(Hours later.)
Lincoln and Luna are now downstairs and eating breakfast, they see Great Grandma Harriet walk by them with a book. "I'll be in the backyard children, enjoy your food, I know you guys need it to spend the day together."
Lincoln and Luna smiles. "Thanks Great Grandma Harriet." They then continue to eat.
"You know, we should spend some time with Great Grandma as well" replied Lincoln. "She is family, and like us she did do so much to keep this family together and also keeping this house safe from harm."
"That sounds like a good idea kiddo, but the thing is, Great Grandma Harriet likes things that seem to be in her interest of the paranormal and witch-like" replied Luna. "What can we do to spend time with her? Besides baking and cooking?"
Lincoln then thinks. "Well, we can get to that when the time is right, for now we should focus on how we wanna spend this day together."
"Got that covered son" replied Luna. "I know what to do and we are so going to enjoy it. I mean with our friends and lovers busy with something else, it's just the two of us today."
Lincoln chuckles. "Now that sounds like a song, I think we're both gonna be happy no matter what happens today for the two of us."
"Well, let's finish eating and get started" replied Luna. They continue to eat their food and both of them are looking forward to what they have for the whole day of no school.
(Skip, moments later.)
Lincoln and Luna exit the house, in their clothes for the day and with Luna's sling bag over her, they then head to her car and also greet they're cantankerous neighbor and Sandra from the other side of the street and they drive off.
As they drive Lincoln then asks. "Mom, when do you think we can visit Leni again and also, you think Lucy is upset she couldn't come to your birthday party yesterday?"
Luna sighs. "Well, we can visit Leni next month if you want, we just need to setup a date and then call ahead, and as for Lucy… I don't really know, I mean there's a good reason why she couldn't come."
Lincoln sighs. "Yeah, she still fears going near the house, after what we know that Great Grandma Harriet gave them one heck of a scare like a horror movie with no good ending. Maybe we can meet up with her today and we can understand and give her some reassurance for not coming."
Luna smiles and she ruffles her son's hair. "That's my boy, always the understanding and forgiving type. We can discuss more about our visit to Leni on the near to last day of September, okay?"
Lincoln nods. "Okay mom, so where the heck are we going?"
Luna chuckles. "No spoilers Linc, that's going to ruin the surprise."
(Gus' Games n' Grub.)
Luna parks her car and they head into the arcade. "So, this is the first place to go mom?" asked Lincoln.
"Yup, just you and me and some awesome arcade games and I see a few friendly faces as well" said Luna. They spot Stella, Rusty, Zach and someone Lincoln knows, a girl with brown hair and he met once after the incident of "Getting back out there."
Luna notices the nervous look from her son. "Linc, you feeling alright kiddo?"
"Yeah, yeah, just fine. Let's get to a game and get it on" replied Lincoln, he then grabs his mom's hand and they head to the dance, dance revolution game.
But Luna sees the brunette girl and he realizes who she is. 'Is that the girl from the incident with his friends trying to get him someone?' The very thought of it was enough to make her mad, or better yet pissed off.
(A few games later.)
Lincoln and Luna finish tossing bank shots and look to the tickets. "Wow. Those sure are a lot" said Lincoln. He then grabs the many tickets. "Sure is gonna be awesome on what we can spend these on."
"I'm surprised that you're not upset playing some of these games, kinda does remind you of Lynn Jr right?" said Luna as she also grabs the many tickets they got from the games they played.
"Yeah, I know it should be painful to think about, but I don't want the past to overtake me. For now, I wanna spend some time with you mom" replied Lincoln. They then head for the table and they do high five this girl they made friends with, her name is Paige and she's as friendly as she is a regular there.
They then spot a table and then Luna looks to the food. "How about you go and pick out a prize while I get us some grub."
Lincoln smiles hearing this. "Okay." He then heads off to where the prizes are and Luna goes over and gets the food they should eat, in which it was two slices of pizza each, and some sodas.
Luna then goes back to the table and she places down the food and waits for her son, then Zach, Rusty, Stella and the girl Renee go to her. "Hey Luna, Linc here with you?" asked Stella.
"He is, we're spending the whole day together since classes won't be up till tomorrow" replied Luna.
Zach then takes a deep breath. "Luna, this is Renee, the girl who… Who fought Lincoln over a comic book, and the very reason why he was kinda upset and why you were also upset with the rest of us last month, sorry about that again."
Luna crosses her arms and looks to the two kids sternly. "So I heard and when we got here, Linc was nervous about seeing you again. Got anything to say to me kid?"
Renee has heard the news and what has transpired between Lincoln, Luna and the now shattered Loud Family. She then takes a deep breath and looks to the 16 year old mom, Luna Loud. She looks mad.
"Mrs. Loud, I know your upset after learning about the whole incident with me and fighting Lincoln long ago, but that was all in the past and that was also before everything went down bad for everyone, and I am so, so sorry for what happened and I didn't mean to hurt him, also I had a talk with Zach and now I feel bad for what happened and was upset with what he did to push Lincoln to talk to me."
Luna could tell how much this was eating up in her, so she calms down. "Okay, okay. I guess I can forgive and forget, that was all in the past and I know you didn't mean anything back then and both you and Lincoln were big fans of Ace Savvy and literally went overboard for the same thing."
Renee sighs. "Thanks, and again I am so, so sorry for what I did to him back then."
"I forgive you too Renee." they all see Lincoln with two plush rabbits, one holding a video game and one holding a guitar. He then sits by his mom. "What happened, happened and I was also at fault for fighting for the same comic book back then, we were both kinda in the zone."
Renee chuckles nervously. "Thanks for understanding guys, this means a lot and I hope we can hang out along with your gal Jordan."
"Well, we should get going now and leave you guys be" replied Rusty. "See you tomorrow Lincoln."
Luna and Lincoln also say goodbye to them. "So, this is what you got for prizes huh?" asked Luna as she picks up the plush bunny with the guitar. "Kinda cute, and also close to recalling Bun-Bun, I'm sorry we couldn't find him for you kiddo."
"It's alright mom, also these were the two items that matched the number of tickets we got, they also can hold hands and they seem close. Kinda like siblings" replied Lincoln.
Luna pulls her son close to her. "Or like a mom and son duo, now come on, let's eat up." They both begin to eat the pizza and enjoy their company in the arcade together.
(Later.)
Lincoln and Luna are now once again at the one place they always like to go to when they need to calm down and seek comfort from everything around them. Ketcham Park.
Lincoln then sees some friends of his enjoying the place and spending some time with each other. Liam, Tabby, Richie, Lance, Artie and Trent.
Lincoln and Luna then take a seat underneath the shade of a tree on the hill, Lincoln leans onto his mom and sighs. "My birthday is coming up and I know you're gonna have something big and special for me."
Luna looks to her kid and strokes his hair. "You know how to guess things, you're not the man-with-the-plan for nothing Linc, but I do plan on something to make it all worthwhile and special for ya."
Lincoln then recalls. "I'm sorry that I know about the gift you got for me, it was Chandler who spoke it to me and it kinda made me shocked that's what you got for me mom."
Luna then pulls him close for a hug. "None of that now Lincoln, I don't care if you know about the gift, just as long as you get it and put it to good use and I also what matters is that troublesome kid is no longer here to bother us anymore. He's always been trouble since you tried to go to his dumb sewage party."
Lincoln recalls that one, the time when Lori was his sister and he made the mistake in taking advantage of her job to get free stuff just to go to the party from Chandler. "You think they're all doing okay mom? The other former family members I mean, I know we sent them a letter that they're sentences have been lightened, but I wanna know how they're doing, especially to the twins."
Luna understand that this is kinda hurting Lincoln, not knowing what's happening to the others is eating at his very thought and not getting any replies from them, other than Leni. "Lincoln, whatever is happening to the others, we'll figure things out. They might be taking long to send a response letter thinking we might not be in the mood for them."
"We have to be patient and give it some time, let them sum up some courage so they can send something back and when the time is right, we can go and visit to see how they're handling things. But as for the twins…. I don't know if we can even go to where Lana and Lola are, but maybe when the time comes we can go and visit them."
Lincoln smiles and he hugs Luna. "Thanks mom, I needed those words of comfort. You know how to talk to me to calm me down, like a true mom would."
Luna kisses his forehead. "I'll do everything I can to make sure you're safe, sound and happy my wayward son. Always."
"Hey guys." they then see Lucy in front of them with a black gift box. "Sorry I didn't make it to your birthday party yesterday Luna, I just didn't have the courage to go back to where we all once lived together."
Luna smiles and so does Lincoln. "Hey there Luce, it's all good. We know you have issues and we know why and I'm not upset with you. Come here and sit with us little Goth girl."
Lucy smiles and she sits next to Luna and hands her the box. "I know you're not in the mood to handle rock and roll anymore, so I got you this instead."
Luna opens the box and smiles. "This is nice of you Luce." She then pulls out a black music box, she then winds it up and opens it. They look inside and see a swan and her little duckling dancing together on a pond, and playing a nice soothing melody as they dance.
"Wow. This is unbelievable of you to get, where the heck did you find this Lucy?" asked Lincoln.
"Sigh, I was walking back home, then I saw this yard sale and I asked how much was the music box and I got it for a good price and then I thought about how you two are doing after I opened to see what was inside" replied Lucy. "And so, I thought this would be a nice gift for Luna because it has two things she loves, music and her son."
Luna chuckles. "I like three things little dude, the third one is Sam, but this is okay. Thanks Lucy."
Lucy then hugs Luna. "Happy Late Birthday Luna."
Luna smiles and she pulls Lucy and Lincoln close to her for a hug. She then kisses their foreheads and they all take in the nice and peaceful scenery of the park.
They might not be family anymore, but deep down they feel like they still are.
(The Loud House.)
Luna and Lincoln return and bring the car up to the driveway and they see Great Grandma Harriet talk to someone in the house. "Looks like Great Grandma Harriet has a guest" replied Luna.
They both get out of the car. "You think it could be just Sandra?" asked Lincoln.
Luna looks to the house across the street. "Can't be, her cars not here and sure as heck ain't Mr. Grouse either." They both see the old man asleep on a hammock on his front yard.
"So, who the heck is she talking to?" asked Lincoln. "Pop-pop?"
"Only one way to find out." Luna and Lincoln then go into the house, and Lincoln was right, it was they're Grandfather Albert Willard or Pop-pop for short, but he wasn't alone.
"Hey there kids, glad you call came back and sorry for not calling in ahead earlier, guess we forgot about that one" replied Pop-pop.
"It's good to see you Pop-pop, and who's this?" asked Lincoln. He and Luna see this other elderly person who is a woman and happy to see them.
"Hi guys, my names Myrtle. I'm albert's sweet heart and formerly from Seymour" replied the elderly woman. "It's so nice to see you both, I am sorry for what happened with the rest of the family, but the good thing is that you two are together as a family of your own and I am so happy to be part of it as well."
Lincoln and Luna were kinda confused, but the very thought of this woman who is making Pop-pop happy was enough to make them happy as well. "Well, it's nice to meet you Myrtle, and glad you're making this bag of bones we call Pop-pop happy for the rest of his awesome life" replied Luna.
Albert chuckles. "Heh, nice come back there kiddo, love that spirit and positive attitude. I wanted to introduce you guys to her and also spend some time, but from what my mom said, you guys had plans for today."
"And I am so honored to meet Albert's mom, and also kinda shocked she's still around too" replied Myrtle.
Harriet looks to Myrtle. "You might not be the same woman that Albert once fell for and had a family, but I am happy for how happy my son is. I know you two will make this work out and that you both have the rest of your lives to spend it with, welcome to the family Myrtle."
"Thanks you so much Harriet, this means so much to me to the fact I don't have any relatives anymore" replied Myrtle.
Lincoln then hugs her. "Then we can be the family for you, all of us."
Luna also joins in. "We understand what it's like to lose family and only have a few good folks to call family, and we're glad to spend some time with you Myrtle."
Myrtle hugs them too. "Thanks guys, this so nice of you both and I'll do my part to be there when you guys need some help or support, but from what Albert told me, you guys got it all handled."
"She sure is one sweet heart ain't she?" Albert goes over and hugs them as well. Soon Harriet joins in.
The family has expanded with someone who's as lonely as they can be, but things might not go so right when the next day comes.
A/N: Coming tomorrow, is when we continue with Myrtle and the events of the episode "Insta-Gran" Let's see what they can do to ease her overbearing nature of being in their home. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
