Chapter 51: aftermath of a nightmare.

(The Loud House.)

Great Grandma Harriet checks on the temperature from Lincoln once more. "Well, you're fever is going down, but it hasn't fully faded yet, it's just a cold now and chances it will fade come tomorrow. But we cannot be so certain, just as long as you take your medicine and get plenty of rest."

Lincoln sniffles and feels the sickness still in his head and his nose slightly clogged up. "Okay, is mom going to school today?"

Luna comes in with some breakfast for him, which is soup. "Nope, like I said little man, I'm staying home to help tend to this issue you got and sure as heck I ain't gonna let you go through this kinda pain. You're my kid, and I gotta take care of ya, besides Sam said she'll bring my school work here."

"Are you sure mom?" asked Lincoln. "I don't want you getting into trouble and stuff."

Luna strokes his white hair and smiles. "I'm positive little buddy, the school understand I have big responsibilities as your mom and they know when I need to keep an eye on ya and also do my school work. Now, eat up, take your pills and then get some sleep."

Lincoln sits up and he eats his soup. "Thanks mom, you really are an awesome mom when it comes to keeping an eye on me."

Luna smirks. "That's what I'm here for kiddo." She then looks to Great Grandma Harriet. "Anywhere you need to go?"

"Not at the moment, but I do need to look up on some things I have been noticing around here, something a bit odd and hard to understand. Tell me when you need help, I'll be in my room." Great Grandma Harriet passes through the door and heads to her quarters.

Luna can see how upset Lincoln looks, he really hates being sick and it makes him feel weak and less of a help. "Don't be like that kiddo, just be happy you're not gonna be in bed for a whole week. Once this cold simmers down, then you can get back to what you were supposed to be doing at school and I know you'll love it."

Lincoln smiles. "Thanks again for reasoning with the school to letting me into auditions, but I really wish I could've done this now and not sooner or later, also I really wanna help you out around the place too."

Luna kisses his forehead. "No need for that now my child, just eat up and get some rest. The more rest you got, then the faster you can recover and whatever you got in store for them at the auditions, I know you can do it and show them how great you are and make it to the big talent show, but if it doesn't work, then at least you tried and I'll still be proud of what you did."

"Thanks mom, but I really wanna show off my new talent and see if it's as good as you once did" replied Lincoln. He then goes back to eating his soup.

Luna smiles and watches her son eat. 'Dang. He really wants to make me proud of him, but he has to chill out and calm down, I don't want him to feel like he can't do right. Being who he is and being my kid is enough to make him special in my eyes and to the lady in my life and the girl for his future.'

Just then they hear a knock on the door. "Hang tight kiddo, I got this." Luna gets up and leaves the room and she sees Great Grandma Harriet. "No need, I got this."

Great Grandma Harriet goes back to her room, while Luna heads downstairs and towards the door, and it knocks again. "Hang on, Hang on. I'm coming already."

Luna opens the door, she sees this woman with glasses, brown hair tied into a bun, red and white shirt and jacket and black skirt and black slippers, she seems familiar and she's holding a clipboard with a paper written on it and she really does look familiar. "Can I help you ma'am?"

"Ah yes, I am…. Umm, Miss Sewil and I am here to check on the…. umm, regular inspections on how good you have been as a mother and the many issues this house may have."

Luna is confused by this woman, and her low-pitched voice seems off to her. Luna crosses her arms. "Oh? Then tell me Miss Sewil, who are the two Detectives who helped me have the life I have now and do you work for them?"

The woman seems nervous about this. "Umm."

"Because the whole stick your doing is not gonna work and if my sister Leni were still here, then she'd say how dumb this outfit of yours is, trying to look like some kind of inspector for a run-down restaurant is the worst disguise and also something out of a lame low-priced comedy movie, if Luan were here to see this" replied Luna.

The woman has no clue what to say anymore, Luna has figured out her plan sucks.

"So, you better start telling me who the hell are you, before I start calling the cops or taking actions into my own hands dude!" said Luna in anger.

The woman sighs. "Alright, alright!" She then removes her glasses and fake mole and her hair tied into a bun. "It's me, Michelle Lewis. This plan was a total buts."

"I knew it was you, the front of your hair was easy to tell and you're voice was way too familiar" replied Luna. "The whole stick with the clothes is a whole different thing, but to the fact you wore the same black shoes from our last encounter gave it off a lot."

Michelle looks to her slipper. "I knew I should've went for sneakers." She then sees the angry look from the pixie cut girl. "Look, I'm sorry I'm doing this."

"Dude, I am not joining your dumb talent show" said Luna. "I don't need some stupid fame and fortune or even to sell my soul to some scum bag of a show just to show how much I have to support and protect my kid and I know this is from your so-called partner because he's seen how popular I've become on social media and with my music and duet style with Sam, and if Sam tells me you tried to do this to her, then there's gonna be so much god damn hell to pay!"

"I swear, I did not talk to…. Whose Sam?" asked Michelle.

Luna sighs. "Lewis, go home and leave me…. Leave us alone! No one is taking him from me!" She then slams the door in front of her face and sheds some tears, she had no clue why she said that last part to Michelle Lewis. "Stupid rock and roll dream." She then heads back upstairs.

Luna sees Great Granma Harriet looking to her with worry. "Luna this doesn't have to do with any of the talent show thing, or even Lincoln getting sick, I know it and so does he."

They see Lincoln at the bathroom and going to Luna. "Mom, we heard and we need to talk. I know this has something to do with last night and I know it's eating you up."

Luna can tell there's no getting out of this, she then sighs and follows her kid to their room. Great Grandma Harriet leaves them be and checks if Michelle Lewis is still outside and she still is and so she goes into invisibility to listen in on what she's doing on the phone.'

"Doug, this isn't gonna work and she's definitely not gonna be part of the show. She was literally angry, angry all over my face and sure as heck I swear she looked like she was gonna cry or tear me apart" replied Michelle on the phone.

Doug sighs over the phone. "Look, this show cannot be a big hit unless we have Luna Loud on stage and performing and becoming America's Next Biggest Hitmaker! She is the top talk of the country and she hasn't even bothered to be called by any talk shows, so this is our shot to get to her, before some other talent scouts do!"

"And how the heck am I supposed to do that? The next time this happens, she might call the cops on me!" said Michelle. "She even yelled at me that I wasn't going to take him, I don't even know who she's talking about."

"Look, figure something out, and if something does happen then call me and I'll figure something out. Do not leave the town until we have Luna Loud for our show, am I clear?"

Michelle sighs. "Yeah, yeah. Alright." She then puts her phone away and looks to the contract on the clipboard. 'Oh Michelle, what the hell did you get yourself into? I should've stayed as a singer for the truck stop years ago.' She then heads to her red Ferrari and she drives off.

Harriet then comes out of her invisibility and thinks. 'Looks like someone is doing something she does not want to, she might do this again, but I need to tell Luna about this. Perhaps she can help her out of this problem.'

(Back inside.)

Lincoln is confused and shocked at everything his mom just told him, she told him about her nightmare from last night and now he's at a loss for words.

"That dream…. Last night…. I-It, It felt so real" replied Luna as she looks down with sadness and fear. "It was like, everything we fought for…. Everything I have been fighting for, was all gone and meant nothing. I didn't wanna go back to the Luna who would be a rock and roll reckless gal, that's not me anymore and I don't like going back to the past that…. That blinded me."

Lincoln looks to Luna, and he can see this was truly eating away at her core, he doesn't know what else to think after knowing what her nightmare is and it feels like a nightmare he doesn't want either,

Lincoln then hugs his mom. "It's okay mom, that was all a dream, and it's not coming true."

Luna sheds some tears and she hugs her son and continues to cry. Lincoln does his best to calm his mom and keep her from falling apart. "It….. It was real….. You…. Y-You were, you were there and…. And you d-didn't call me…. M-Mom, I missed it. I missed you."

Lincoln can only calm her down and make sure everything is not as bad as it is since last night. 'And I thought I was the one who needed comfort from pain, now it's my turn to comfort my mom. She's seen fear and pain, and I don't want her to be like this.'

(Later in the day.)

Sam Sharp arrives to the house, she's dropped off by the Rosato van alongside Jordan and Clyde, Clyde however is wearing a face mask.

"You do know it's just a cold right?" said Jordan.

"Yeah, I know. But my dad's want me to be cautious so I don't catch it, and thank goodness they're backing off from Lincoln and Luna's life, I do not want things to get hard once again" replied Clyde.

"As long as they don't get involved or end up with their over the top medical advice, then everything will be fine. Plus, they're still on the restraining order and only Luna can get them off" replied Jesse.

"Come on dudes, let's give them their school work and see how Linc is doing." Sam then knocks on the door. Great Grandma Harriet opens the door and sees them.

"Good you came, and you brought their school work, that's nice."

"We didn't have any tests, but there might be a pop quiz on Friday, so in case Lincoln does recover, then he has some work to go through so he can be prepared" replied Clyde.

"How're things here with Luna tending the white haired handsome face?" asked Jordan.

Great Grandma Harriet's face is now concerned, even though you can't see her eyes, she shows it. "Things have been…. Hard and complicated and now things may have gotten a bit, into the depressed and unnerving issues kind of thing."

Sam, Jodan and Clyde were now concerned about this. "What the heck happened?" asked Sam.

"Well, things were okay with the morning, but then it got worse when someone was at the door and it turns out it was that woman who helps host America's Next Hitmaker, and Luna snapped at her that she doesn't wanna join them still and she said some thing's that didn't make sense and so Lincoln got her to open up and tell what was wrong and as it turns out it has something to do with the nightmare."

They're all shocked about this. Sam then heads inside, she passed through Harriet. "Well, that was rude." Sam then heads upstairs and with the others following, they were all worried and passed through Harriet. "Seriously?"

Sam reaches the room and she sees Luna fast asleep on Lincoln's lower bunk and next to her is Lincoln still in his pajamas and stroking her hair and looking to her with sadness and it looks like Luna had been crying. Lincoln then sees Sam. "Hey Sam, are the others here with my school work too?"

Sam goes over and she sits next to Lincoln and looks to her sleeping girlfriend. "Oh Luna, what the hell are we gonna do now?"

Then Jordan, Clyde and Jesse arrive and see this. Lincoln sighs. "She told me what it was, and even I was kinda scared of her nightmare, like it was a nightmare I didn't want. It scared me and filled me with so much fear and anger for the past we both had and blinded from."

Clyde and Jordan then place the school work onto the table and they all listen into the story Lincoln has to tell them, the story of his mom's nightmare.

They are shocked by this, and how much it hurt Luna to try and get through the past, she was a future Luna stuck in the past that is not her past or the future she wants.

"Wow. That was deep and also kinda freaky" replied Clyde. "Either it was a dream, or she ended up in some kind of alternate or parallel world where she's not supposed to be."

"Thank god it wasn't real then" replied Jordan. "Something like that is scarring and not easy to go by, but at least she got through it and chances that nightmare won't ever come back, I hope."

"She just needs some comfort, remember that she's 16 now and things are revolving around her life, but the one thing that truly revolves around her is the love she wants to share with the kid in her life and sure as heck she's not going to let anything stop this new life she now has" replied Jesse.

Sam strokes Luna's hair, this makes her stir, but Luna goes back to sleep and mumbles about something. 'Luna, I wanna help you too. I wanna be there to keep you safe and sane. That nightmare, I don't want you to go through it again.'

Lincoln leans onto Sam. "We can only hope, we can only hope we can keep mom from having that nightmare again Sam." Sam then hugs Lincoln and he hugs her, they both wanna help Luna and that nightmare was a sign that things are gonna get harder for all of them.

Great Grandma Harriet then asks. "Lincoln, did she mention anything from her nightmare? Like, did she see something?"

Lincoln then recalls something. "She did say something about… Raven's flying by her, and then a voice, a voice she doesn't know saying sorry for showing her the nightmare."

Great Grandma Harriet thinks about this and then asks. "Was there anything else?"

Lincoln is about to speak. "I saw a symbol." They all see Luna is now sitting up and with her knees to her chest and she wipes away her tears. "I saw this symbol."

Lincoln and Sam then hug Luna, and try to calm her down. "Guys, guys. I'm chill now, no more tears and no more problems, sort of." They depart from the hug and let her sit in between them. Luna looks to her ghostly Great Grandmother. "I saw this symbol, it was hard to make out, but it had this eye and some tear stains under it and it was glowing light blue and then faded. It wasn't hard to figure out, but I know what I saw and this voice…. It was like it knew me, like it wanted me to know it was there."

Great Grandma Harriet thinks about this again, like something she has seen. "Interesting, thanks you for the information. I'll leave you all be." She then leaves the room and heads back to her room.

"Well, that was almost ominous" replied Jesse. "Are you alright Luna?"

Luna looks to her son and she strokes his hair and kisses his forehead. "I am, I know it wasn't real and was nothing more than just a dream and that it will never ever, happen again. And if it does happen, then I know I can tell myself that it all wasn't real and that the life I have is real. My life with my kid Lincoln, and with all my friends and loved ones by my… Our side."

Lincoln smiles and he hugs Luna. "Glad to have you back mom."

Luna hugs him and kisses his forehead. "Same here bud, same here." Jordan and Sam also join in this hug, the whole thing makes Clyde shed some tears and so does Jesse.

They then depart from the hug. "Oh mom, I checked on my temperature and this is honest, my cold is dying down. It's not as high as it was" replied Lincoln.

Luna and Sam smile hearing this. "Good job bud, looks like rest and fluids is what you needed, tomorrow you can be able to go to school" replied Sam.

Luna then has an idea. "Before we go through school work, I think we all deserve something nice to eat. Come on guys, to the kitchen."

They all head out of the room and go downstairs. Luna pulls her son close to her and he leans onto her. That dream Luna had, it didn't matter if it was real or not, what matters is that the real life they have will linger and that they will go against the odds of whatever is thrown at them, let it be from a nightmare or someone who wants them to be part of something they don't wanna do.

Then Clyde realizes something. "Oh right! Lincoln, the ones who made it through the talent show are Rusty, Flat Tire, Mollie, Sadie, Haiku, Kat and Trent and finally revealed, Zach and his partner is Giggles!"

Now that one they did not see coming.

(Upstairs.)

Harriet is going through all of her books. "Where is it? Where is it? Where the ding dang it is?!" She then sees it. "Got you!"

She then picks up the book, the same book she saw days ago and she does not like the look of it. "The sacred book of the Guardian's and the mark of the Kirin'Tor." She then sees something on it, some scratches on it, which means the Guardian opened it.

She opens the book and sees a page is missing, but she recalls what the page was, it was an incantation on dream manipulation and creation and this was a bad sign, which only meant one thing.

"So, that man who I met and talked to. He did not help see the nightmare to stop it, he made it happen! But why? Why would he want Luna to go through something he made? What was that Guardian's motives?" She then closes the book and sighs.

"If he does come back, then he'll have to tell me why he did that, otherwise it's gonna be a ghost guardian vs a realm guardian. No one does that to my family, and I don't care if you're a sacred defender, family is family and I will keep them safe!"

Great Grandma Harriet walks out of the room and checks on the others. But the book with the eye logo of the Kirin'Tor blinks and looks around and then whispers. "This is only the beginning and I shall return, soon, when I don't have anything to do, or whatever."

A/N: And that's an aftermath, Michelle Lewis might be up to another plan and it seems like the ghost made a mistake letting the Guardian arrive, now what will happen next when he comes back? Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
