I guess it's the time of the month, Happy October and we're all inbound for Halloween. A shame we don't celebrate it where I'm from, but I'm cool with it. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
Family of Two.
Chapter 53: October start.
(October 1. Royal Woods Grade school.)
The school day is done and everyone is headed home, as Lincoln and his pals walk down the halls, Lincoln is greeted by many of the students walking by. Lincoln greets them and continues to head down the halls towards his locker.
"So, what're you guys planning for Halloween?" asked Lincoln as he closes his locker.
"Well, trick or treatin' is still up for grabs and sure as heck we can make sure some of us get as much candy as we can carry and also enough candy that could send us to the dentist" replied Liam.
"I'm with Liam, we're so gonna nail trick or treating when Halloween hits" replied Rusty.
"I'm as excited as all of you. This is my first ever Trick or Treating thing and I am so going to love getting so much candy, and I know exactly what to dress as, though some of you could get the scare of your lives" replied Stella.
"We are so going to have a blast with Trick or Treating, do we even have a plan for the whole thing?" asked Zach. "We need to make sure we hit the best of the best places that can give us the most candy."
They then look towards Lincoln. "What?"
"Well, what's the plan?" asked Rusty. "You're the man-with-the-plan, so what did you have in mind?"
"Well, Linc and I have been scouting this place since Summer and we were both at an agreement on how we can establish our ranks in Trick or Treating to get the most candy, or should I say large chocolate bars" replied Clyde.
Jordan smirks. "It's Huntington Oaks, isn't it?"
Clyde is shocked and so is Lincoln. "Wait, how the heck did you know that?" asked Clyde.
"Guys, I know the place and I used to reside there, until my parents wanted to have us move into a nice neighborhood to interact with other people to treat as equals, also I've seen Halloween there and have known that they always have full sized candy bars, and at times something fancy and foreign" replied Jordan. "You guys don't need to plan on getting in, I can get you guys in there without the need to infiltrate."
They're all shocked by this. "Huh, I guess we're going to Huntington Oaks for Halloween" replied Clyde.
"Ah yeah! Big time rich class candy, here we come!" said Zach. "I can almost smell it!"
"That's because there's a chocolate bar dangling from your bag that you forgot to eat today" replied Stella. They all see the chocolate bar from Zach sticking out.
Zach picks it out of his bag. "Huh, how did I miss this?" He then eats it.
"Okay, so if we're all gonna be headed there to the rich peeps place of nice folks, what the heck is everyone wearing?" asked Tabby.
They all begin to talk about what to wear and what it could be, but most of them are all not planning to talk about what their costumes might be, but Jordan notices how silent Lincoln is and that he's looking to his notebook and he puts it into his bag.
"Lincoln? Are you okay?" asked Jordan, the others also notice this and look to the white haired kid.'
Lincoln sighs. "Well, the whole thing of trick or treating is a nice talk, but I'd rather not about that now. There's one thing we have to deal with and it's with the talent show next week and to see which one of us might win or lose, but I'm okay even if I do lose."
"We already know that man, and we're not upset or nervous at all. Heck, Dennis and Patrick aren't nervous and are planning the whole weekend on their act, whatever it is" replied Rusty.
"Yeah, we all got it wrapped in the bag" replied Zach as he eats his chocolate bar. "Giggles and I are gonna be doing a lot of rehearsals for the rest of the weekend."
Lincoln smiles. "Good for you guys, I have my own thing, so I won't be much to talk about trick or treating, but I should tell you guys about that." Lincoln points to the wall and they see the flier being placed up by Richie, he has tons of these fliers.
"Hey guys, you headed for the big Grade School Halloween Party?" replied Richie as he hands Jordan a flier.
They all look to the flier. "Whoa!" The flier says. "On Halloween Night, the big Grade School Hallows Eve party. There will be games, costume contests, prizes and candy. Get you're spooks on ya'll, it's gonna get creepy."
"Wow! This looks so cool!" said Tabby. "Looks like we got an issue, we either trick or treat or we head for this big shindig of a party."
They all think about it and all respond with one thing. "Trick or Treating."
"We can go to one of these parties when we get to Middle School" replied Zach. "Sure as heck we can spend one more trick or treat run before we hit the next school year and ace it."
"Yeah, no rush" replied Rusty. "Middle School is the one with the coolest of the cool costume parties and sure as heck I am saving my styles for that one."
Polly giggles. "What? You gonna dress up as a werewolf in a tux and in skates?" This makes Rusty blush, and the others smirk.
Clyde and Jordan look to Lincoln who is just looking to the flier. "What about you bud?" asked Clyde. Lincoln look to him and they can tell something is up. "Are you gonna wanna be part of this or go trick or treating with us?" The others also look to Lincoln.
Lincoln sighs. "Guys, like I said. I'm not in the mood for this stuff, yet. I have a talent show to practice, see you guys tomorrow." He kisses Jordan's cheek and walks out of the school.
"Dude, what the heck was that all about?" asked Artie.
"I know." They all get startled by the presence of Lucy. "Hello everyone and sorry, but I know why Lincoln is acting like this and I know deep down Jordan knows as well."
Jordan sighs. "She's not wrong, I can see it as well. This is the first Halloween without the whole family and sure as heck Lincoln is kinda upset that it won't be as loud or as fun as it was that he planned for. He once told me that you planned on a haunted maze right?"
"Sigh, it's true and now I get to do that still, thanks to my family and big sister" replied Lucy. "I just don't know how to help Lincoln through this, and to the fact my birthday is the day before the big Holiday, that's also a reason why he's upset."
They all had concern about this, concern for their friend. "So, what the heck do we do now?" asked Joy.
Jordan then has a plan. "We let him be guys, we don't talk to him or ask him about Halloween and just stick to the normal guys and gals talk as we usually have, chances his mom will be able to talk to him about this and everything will be okay, I hope."
"Let's hope that does happen, as for the rest of us, we're inbound for that Halloween party and we're so going to enjoy the whole thing" said Kat.
"So, we wish you guys some fun and good luck to the trick or treating you guys get" replied Trent.
"You're really such a good girlfriend to him, he's become quite sensitive and more vulnerable with his emotions and after everything that has happened yesterday" replied Christina. "He needs his friends, his girlfriend, but mostly his mom to get through all of this. You have to keep him calm Jordan, for his sake."
"She's right, I don't wanna see him all miserable and sad through this month, and I don't want him to feel like the past will haunt him again, it's not good for him and for Luna" replied Lucy.
"Try and speak to him about how he feels, or get his mom to do that one" replied Haiku who comes out of nowhere and startles them. "Sorry about that, Goth perks."
"I know, I know" replied Jordan. They all begin to walk down the halls, while some of them head elsewhere to meet up with some other friends and also handle the rehearsals they have for their talent show skills for next week.
But none of them have noticed one boy looking to Jordan in anger. 'Why the heck did she fall for Loud? Just because he has this new life and issues with his old? Are you kidding me?! That Loud is gonna pay for making me get beat up and lose the girl of my dreams!'
The boy is Andrew Hopkins, straight from the whole "Girl Guru" incident, he walks to another part of the halls and thinks of something. 'I need to come up with a plan so I can get the girl and take Loud down, without being caught by these new rules about bullying, or I'll be in deep trouble as Boy Jordan and Chandler.' He then continues to walk down the halls for his vile schemes, but he doesn't see the wet floor sign and slips.
Norm notices this and sighs. "Kid, you know the sign is here for a reason right?" Andre just groans in pain. "Come on, let's take you to see the nurse."
(The Loud House.)
The purple Ferrari makes it and soon Lincoln gets out and he heads for the house, Luna comes out of the car and sees how in a rush Lincoln was to get into the house. Luna has noticed for the whole ride he has been silent. 'Something's wrong.'
Luna heads into the house and she sees Great Grandma Harriet looking to the stairs with worry. She then looks to Luna. "What happened? I asked him how was school and he ignored me entirely and just headed up to the room."
Luna also seems worried. "No clue, but it must have something to do with school." She then looks to the calendar and realizes. "Or, it has something to do with this month." Luna heads upstairs to confront her son.
Great Grandma Harriet sighs and she goes to the living room and sits onto the couch. 'I think I know what this is about, this is going to be one tough month for the rest of us.'
Upstairs, Luna reaches the hallway and she hears the soothing strumming of an acoustic guitar, she goes to the room she shares with her kid and she sees Lincoln on the beanbag chair and strumming his acoustic and also going through his lyric notebook.
Luna comes in and has a look of worry. "Lincoln, are you okay bud?"
Lincoln stops strumming and he closes his notebook and he puts his guitar down, but doesn't look towards Luna. "I'm fine mom, I was just practicing the song I need to perform for the big talent show next week, nothing more of an issue here."
Luna can tell he's upset, the tone in his voice sounded kinda annoyed. She goes over and she sits onto the other bean bag chair next to him. "Linc, I know what's wrong kiddo?"
Lincoln still doesn't look to her. "Of course you know, you're my mom and you know when I'm in deep trouble from something and it doesn't involve school, sort of."
Luna goes closer and she places a hand onto his shoulder. "Lincoln, I know this has something to do with the month today, and I know how you feel. This is gonna be our first ever Holiday without… Without the others and I know you've been looking forward to some Halloween fun with the family, but we're not a big family anymore."
"I also feel bad for this, I mean I was hoping I'd perform some music to make the whole holiday feel spooky and fun. But we both have to try and get over it all, so tell me, what's wrong and…. and let me fix it, to see you happy and ready for whatever comes our way for this month."
Lincoln doesn't respond. Luna pulls him closer to her. "Linc, please talk to me, I wanna help you, I wanna be there to help you with this problem and I don't wanna have my kid just act like someone who doesn't wanna have anyone by his side."
Lincoln still doesn't respond and just looks away. Luna knows this is an issue, and she knows he won't talk about it, until he's ready. "Okay, okay. I won't push you into telling me. I'll let you take your time and then you can tell me when you're ready."
Luna gets up, but then she hears Lincoln respond. "What the heck are we gonna do?"
Luna turns around. "What?"
"Mom….. What the hell are we gonna do? This isn't just about Halloween, this is our first time without the whole family by our side to enjoy the other moments that make us once Loud. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Valentines and Easter, and all the other holidays that make us all happy and closer as one big happy family."
Luna goes over and she sits onto the bean bag chair and listens to everything he has to say.
"I know I hate them for what they did and I want to see if we can redeem them of their actions, but it's going to be hard, hard as we wait for the day to come and we have to keep going through day after day without them in our lives. We won't even be part of any of their birthdays since we don't see some of them more often and we…. We…" Lincoln then starts to sob.
Luna goes over and she hugs her son. Lincoln hugs her back and cries into her chest and she strokes his hair and rubs his back. "Shh, it's okay Lincoln. It's gonna be okay, I'm here now. Mommy's here, let it all out, I got you kiddo."
Lincoln just cries and let's all of his pain out. Luna can now see, this isn't about Halloween and like Lincoln said, it's about everything. Sure they did celebrate Late Mother's Day and they did celebrate Luna's 16th Birthday, but coming soon is the Talent Show in which the whole family won't be there and as well as Lincoln's Birthday on the 15th and Lucy's Birthday on the 31st.
Luna needs to find some way to ease his pain as the month roll by… No, as the years roll by.
Soon, Lincoln's sobs turn into small whimpers and coughs and he calms down, but is still in deep sorrow. "Lincoln, I know this is gonna be hard again, because it's the new month and we aren't as big and as loud as we once were, but I promise you that we can pull through, until the day comes for the old guard to come together and we can talk about redemption."
"I know on each month, it will be a drag and pain for you to go through, but as your mother I am going to do my best to make sure you don't lose yourself and break down. This isn't your fault, I don't want you to blame yourself. The choices were made and they chose they're fate in the hands of their superstition, which I was also part of, but it will be over soon."
"We're still in pain, I know. But soon, that pain will be gone and we can find some peace of mind when the time comes, so don't cry now my wayward son. Let the calming moments we'll have together for the rest of our lives be the ones to give you a reason to live, forever and ever more."
Lincoln soon calms down and sheds some tears, but these were tears of joy. She always knows how to comfort him at his darkest moments and she always knows what happens when he's under emotional pressure. He was glad Luna was by his side this time.
(Later.)
Great Grandma Harriet paces back and forth downstairs and is worried. 'I hope he's fine, I really don't want Lincoln to end up being a sad miserable boy for the rest of the month, and it's gonna be Halloween for goodness sake and it's supposed to be fun for him, perhaps this has something to do with his birthday or Lucy's birthday or the holiday itself.'
She then hears footsteps and then she sees Lincoln and Luna coming down and Lincoln was looking as if he was back to his normal self once more. "Hi Great Grandma Harriet, sorry for ignoring you earlier."
The elderly ghost goes towards the boy. "Its fine, I just need to know. Are you alright?"
Lincoln chuckles. "Thanks for the concern, Great Grandma Harriet, but I'm alright now. I guess all I needed was some soothing words and comfort from my mom, and now I'm looking forward to whatever this month has for all of us."
Great Grandma Harriet smiles. "That's good to know. So, now what do you wanna do now?"
"Well, I was thinking of doing my practice again, but I think that can wait for next time. Right now, I think I wanna make this place decorative and festive for the month and the incoming holiday" replied Lincoln. "I know it sounds kinda early, but I think this place could use some early touch up, for the fun and scares to come."
Luna smiles. "That's the October spirit."
Great Grandma Harriet also smiles to this. "Let's get those Halloween Decorations down from the Attic and make this place spooky and fun." They all head upstairs to get the decorations.
Luna was happy to see her son back to the way he is, and thank god too. Otherwise, he might end up falling into a shadowy pit that he can't escape from.
'I gotta do whatever I can to keep him from falling apart. I am not having Lincoln blame himself for everything, otherwise it'll lead to…. To.' Luna shakes off the idea and follows them to the attic.
Then Luna has an idea. 'Maybe I can have some special friends come over for a visit, or we can go and visit someone who might make him feel better.' She then sees Lincoln chuckling at the old decorations of the spooky ghosts, which doesn't make Harriet happy to see, the blanket floating ghost thing is kinda old school and almost racist to her.
Luna chuckles. 'Yeah, we need to visit Leni again and also have some Great Lake friends come over, or we can visit them.' She then sees a fake spider and recalls something she's grateful about. 'Thank god that coward of a man isn't here, otherwise it'd be totally awkward and humiliating having a dad who's horrified of Halloween. What a joke.'
Then she realizes something. 'What's Lincoln's plan for Trick or Treating?' That is something she has to talk to him about, when the time is right.
After what happened yesterday and the encounter of Michelle Lewis, one thing is on her mind now. 'This issue with me and that stupid Talent TV show is not done and I know they'll be back for me and that they'll use anything to get to me, anything.'
She then sees Lincoln and Great Grandma Harriet opening the boxes and see some candles they can use for jack-o-lanterns. 'Even to those I love and care for.'
A/N: Halloween is inbound at the last day of the month, and with many problems ahead, they can only do what they can to hold on so none of them fall apart, and Luna's right, Doug and Michelle will be back, soon. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
Date made: 9/13/20.
