Chapter 62: A new friend?
(Royal Woods Hospital.)
Luna opens her eyes and she looks around and feels her head spinning. "Oh jeez! This hurts so, so much!" She then notices she has a cast on her left arm, her nose is bandaged up and she has some bandage wrappings on some parts of her body. "What in the heck?"
She then turns to her right and is shocked. Right there on another bed is her son, Lincoln. Out like a light, and has a bandage wrapping around his head, his nose also bandaged up and his left arm in a cast.
'What? What the hell happened?' Then she recalls the fight at the mall and that she and her son were hurt badly by…. Hank and Hawk. It breaks Luna's heart to see her son like this, it brought back some bad vibes from the whole bad luck thing with the old family.
"Oh Lincoln, I'm so sorry this happened to us" said Luna as tears form from her eyes. But then she sees Lincoln shift and groan. "Lincoln?!"
The boy opens his eyes. "What? What happened?" He then recalls what happened and he looks to himself. "Oh right, there was a fight, but what happened after that?" He then turns to his left and sees his mom. "Mom!"
Luna smiles and sheds tears of joy. "Thank god you're alright my child, I'd go to you and hug it out, but I don't think I can leave the bed right now."
Lincoln also sheds tears of joy. "Me too! I'm so glad we're still alright mom, that… That was, scary and we….. We almost got seriously hurt."
Luna wants to go over and comfort her crying child, but she has to wait till they recover from this. Just then the door opens and they see the doctor they both have known. Dr. Kendrick. "Oh good, you're both awake and I can tell being in this state is unnerving and heart breaking. Sorry you guys had to go through that fight, but at least you're both alright and healing."
Lincoln and Luna didn't like being in the hospital again, but they are happy to be okay and actually survive something as dangerous as a fight against some folks who hate them. This seems like one of the things they faced and they managed to pull through.
Then Luna asks. "Doc, what the heck happened when we came here? I think I recall Carol who helped us and someone I recognize also assisting."
"Well, they're outside. Along with Sam and some other people, you want me to go and get them?" said Dr. Kendrick.
Lincoln and Luna nod. "Yes please." the good doctor then walks out of the room to go get the others and soon the doors open and coming in are a lot of people they know and love. Great Grandma Harriet, Pop-pop, Myrtle, Sam, Simon, Jordan, Carol, Becky, Dana, Sully, Mazzy, Chunk, Clyde, Flat Tire and Jenny.
Sam goes over and she kisses Luna. "Oh my goodness gosh sake Luna, you gave me a fright there. But, at least you guys are okay and wake now." Sam wipes away a tear and she kisses Luna once more.
Jordan then hugs Lincoln. "Lincoln, you got me so scared that you weren't going to make it! Thank god you guys are alright now!"
"Yeah, looks like dodge ball made you durable, sort of" replied Clyde, he too was concerned but he knows this was something Lincoln needs to comfort Jordan first. "Also, my dad's aren't gonna come here, since they're still on the restraining order."
"We made some calls and a lot of people all over Royal Woods knows about this, and let's just say they're less than pleased and chances this is gonna spark some issues with the neighboring city of Hazeltucky and word might head for the capital of Michigan itself" replied Jenny.
"I was told by Carol to call the rest of our friends, so the word got out from them like wildfire" replied Flat Tire.
"Oh good lord. Are you both doing alright?" asked Myrtle.
"Jeez! At least you guys made it and did what you could to survive" replied Pop-pop. "Still, we were all worried when we got the call from Officer Tristen."
Lincoln then asks. "What happened to those two stinkers anyway?"
"Well, from what we know and heard. Hank and Hawk have been sent back to Hazeltucky and are gonna be sent to juvie until they become 18 and don't worry about the hospital bills, because their parents are paying for this whole incident and the damages done" replied Dana.
"The governor of Michigan is inbound for Hazeltucky to issue a deadly warning about what happened to you both, this could be bad for the reputation of Hazeltucky. But we all care less, since they have mean school kids" replied Becky.
But Great Grandma Harriet remains silent, she has plans for those boys and that wretched town next door. 'This whole incident will not go unnoticed and I shall get my revenge on them for what they did to my family!'
"You guys made headlines today" replied Sully and Mazzy as they show them what's on social media. They were both on the front page and still trending.
Lincoln and Luna saw this one coming. "Okay." Luna then looks to Carol Pingrey and smiles. "Carol, thank you for helping me and my son. We don't know what we would've happened if you didn't help out and I can only assume you had to use my car to bring us here and I'm cool with that dude."
Carol then looks nervous. "Yeah, I got some help from someone you did not expect to encounter or wanna meet. Someone you have met once, a few days ago and someone you also hate."
Luna and Lincoln are confused. "Who was it?"
Then Officer Schoffner comes in. "This lady." She then steps aside and walking in was the woman who Luna hates after what she did.
Michelle Lewis. "Hi guys, glad you two are doing fine now."
Lincoln and Luna are shocked, a part of Lincoln was feeling some fear after what happened when he found out she tried to spy on him at school. But then Jordan speaks for her. "She helped carry Luna back to her car, while Carol handled Linc."
This shocks the mother and son, the one person who they have been seeing as an enemy helped them, but why?
Michelle then sees the nervous look from Lincoln and the confused and yet stern look from Luna, this makes her a bit uneasy. "I'm gonna go now, sorry for being here."
"Wait!" She stops and looks to Lincoln. Lincoln looks to the others. "Guys, leave us. Mom and I have to talk to Michelle."
They all understand and walk out, but then Sam goes to Lincoln and Luna. "Take it easy on her, she told us why she was at the mall and let's just say it was not easy for her ever since she was released, or in other words, bailed out." Lincoln and Luna nod and they watch as Sam and Jordan leave.
Then Great Grandma Harriet walks by Michelle, which gives her the creeps. "Is she really living with you guys?"
Luna nods, but her expression is still stern. "Yeah, she does. Now, I wanna know. What the hell were you doing at the mall and at the food court where Lincoln and I were?"
Michelle can tell Luna is pissed off. "Luna, I understand that you're angry with me and you have every right to be. But I swear I did not expect the two of you to be there. I was at the food court going through….. Through jobs on the newspaper."
This confuses Lincoln and Luna. "Jobs? What do you mean by…" Lincoln then figured it out. "Michelle, were you fired from you're show host job?" Luna looks to her son in shock and then back to Michelle who was looking down with guilt.
Luna then sees, that she was telling the truth and that something happened. "Lewis, sit next to us, now."
Michelle does so and she sits onto the chair that is in between Lincoln and Luna, the two louds aren't fully incapacitated and they sit up and look to the woman. "Micelle Lewis, tell us what happened to you" said Luna.
Michelle sighs. "I guess it all started days ago, after I was….. I was bailed from the police station."
(Flashback.)
Michelle Lewis and her partner Doug Rockwell come out of the police station and they head into his car, Michelle's car is still parked somewhere back at the Royal Woods school and chances it will be towed when she doesn't go and get it.
Doug gets into the driver's seat of his Porsche and Michelle rides at the passenger's side. She can tell he's angry. "Doug, thank you for bailing me out of there. I don't know how to repay you, partner."
Doug doesn't say anything and he starts his car and they drive someplace.
(Royal Woods Mayor's Hotel.)
Doug stops his car and he keeps the door locked, Michelle sees her Ferrari parked in front of them. Doug sighs. "Michelle, you were supposed to talk to the kid to reason with Luna into being part of the show and seeing him with talent was going to be better, but then you screwed it up and got caught!"
Michelle didn't like this side of her partner, he has been angry at times when contestants or staff didn't do as he says, but she did not like it when she was getting yelled at. "Doug, I can make this right. I can talk to him, and then to Luna and then we can make the show an even greater thing that any other show!"
"And how do you suppose you do that huh?!" Doug looks to her in anger. "You made the kid's scared of you when Luna found out what you were planning, and now we can't have her on the show because at this point, so many of our viewers and contestants will get suspicious and then this leads to the law questioning us about the whole system of the show!"
Michelle then thinks. "I can…. I can reason with them. Then they can just say they became part of it and wanted to see if they can hit it big, see simple."
But then her hair is grabbed and she sheds tears by her partners force on her. "No, not simple! I got a call from the executives and they said that the show is close to being shut down and all because of your actions and if this keeps up, then I'll get questioned and they'll see what we planned the whole freaking time!"
Michelle tries to break free from his grip. "D-Doug, please! You're hurting me!"
"Yeah, and you are hurting my career and my reputation! My lawyer told me that the best way to stop suspicion that we planned for Luna to be part of the show, I have no choice but to fire you!" said Doug.
Michelle goes wide eyes. "W-What?" Then Doug pins her head to the dashboard.
"Michelle Lewis, you are hereby fired from the show, America's Next Greatest Hitmaker" said Doug. "And don't even think about showing you're stupid face in Hollywood ever again, because I am the one who helped with your skills in singing and made you a star and I am the one who made you who you are now and for some reason, you can't do one thing right for me, when it comes to getting the talent the show needed!"
Michelle sheds tears. "Doug, please….. No!"
He then let's her go and Michelle looks to him in fear. She's then grabbed by the wrist and she's now face-to-face with her former partner. "You are no longer a star and better off dead someplace else for being so incompetent and useless! Don't ever come back to showbiz ever again!"
He then unlocks the doors and he opens the door and kicks Michelle out of her car, she looks back at Doug's angered look. "Doug, i…. I'm sorry."
"Good luck finding some lame job in this dumb town, bitch!" Doug then closes the door and he drives off.
Michelle just watches as her former partner drives off and leaves her with no other choice left, but to live her life on her own. Without any friends or family.
(End Flashback.)
"And so, I decided to try and find a job. But first I had to leave the hotel and then I sorted out the bill which was high and I was left with my clothes, the taser for self-defense, a few of my personal belongings and my car. Which I am planning to sell, soon" replied Michelle.
"I decided to use the newspaper I found and go to the mall to see which jobs are good for someone who….. Became hated after…. After what I did to you." She looks to Lincoln with guilt and Lincoln and Luna can tell, she's telling the truth.
"I…. I am so, so sorry for what I did. I did what I had to, to keep my job and not get into any trouble with Doug. He's always been the more leader and pushing when it came to showbiz and fame and fortune and all I did was act as his partner and he sent me to Royal Woods to get…. The teenager who made headlines into becoming a mom" replied Michelle.
She then looks to Luna. "I didn't intend to take your son, I don't even wanna hurt a kid. That's not me, not me at all. I know you both still hate and/or fear me for what I did and I'm okay with it, I don't deserve any forgiveness for being part of those wrong things."
Lincoln and Luna look to each other with pity and concern and they can see this woman was not the enemy, she was just a pawn. Like how some of their former siblings were pawns into the belief of bad luck many months ago.
Luna knows her son wouldn't want this woman to be left by herself to fend and left to be alone. "Michelle, we're not mad at you, not anymore."
Michelle looks to them and wipes away her tears. "W-What?"
"Because you helped us, you saved me and my son from getting into more serious hurt or worse and I'm greatful for what you did" replied Luna. "We both can see you're telling the truth n we can tell that the others outside also know about this, you told them didn't you?"
Michelle nods. "The same thing I told you guys, I had no intentions to bring harm to the both of you and did what I had to, to keep my life. But now I see the life of showbiz is…. Is."
"A dark and bad road that leads to betraying those you love and care for?" asked Luna. "I know that feeling, I almost went back down that road since the last weeks of summer and it became…. A hard thing to go by and hurt seeing my kid scared of who I was turning back into."
Michelle sees Lincoln looking a bit uneasy, he recalls that one and has bad memories about it. "Wow. I'm so sorry about what you guys went through, is that why you disbanded with your band mates? They told me about that one earlier."
Luna sighs. "Yup, that about sums it up and I think my son and I can forgive you for what you did and the mistake you have committed and I think we know how you can live here in Royal Woods with no hassle of a job at mind."
Michelle goes wide eyed. "Really? What is it?"
Lincoln and Luna look to each other and nod. "Housekeeping."
Michelle is shocked. "Housekeeping? Like, a job to work for someone's home in cleaning and other stuff?"
"Yeah, we do have Great Grandma Harriet helping us, but at some point she does get busy with other stuff like with her books and as of lately she has been out of the house more searching for something and mom and I could use some help still" replied Lincoln.
"I may be a mom now, but I'm still 16 and not an adult yet and even though I have been given full responsibility of the house, we do need some help, like a grown up" replied Luna.
This was something Michelle did not see coming, they want her to work for them at their home in keeping is clean and okay. "Wow. I… I don't know what to say, I'll do it! I'll do it!" She then goes over and hugs Lincoln and kisses his cheek. "Thank you so much!"
Lincoln blushes. "Heh, you're welcome Michelle and I guess I'm not scared of you anymore, now that I know who you truly are."
She then goes over and hugs Luna. "Thanks so much Luna! I promise I will do my part and make sure nothing bad happens at you're home! I swear on my life!"
Luna chuckles and hugs her back. "You're welcome dude and we can make things right with where you can stay, once we get out of here then we can help you get settled."
"And we're okay with this choice as well" replied Great Grandma Harriet. She and the others come in and smile, they all agree to this plan Lincoln and Luna have, they wanna show kindness to the woman who helped save Lincoln and Luna from what could've been either of their deaths.
She then breaks from the hug and looks to all of them. "Thank you, thank you all of you. I don't know what else to say."
Officer Schoffner goes to her. "Just as long as you tell me and the other officers more about Doug Rockwell, we need to know what other plans he was up to so we can bring him down, and acts of violence and assault on you also counts as an offense and enough to put him away."
Michelle nods and she follows the cop out of the hospital to go the station to give her statement of Doug and his other plans and actions, but she stops and looks back to Lincoln and Luna and waves towards them.
The mother and son also wave to her and they watch as she walks out of the room.
Lincoln and Luna felt happy they were alright, relieved they know the truth of their former assailant from days ago and also they felt happy that someone was given redemption, even though she's not family. Michelle Lewis looks like she could use one, but they have some things to go through to know more about this woman who is gonna be part of their, Family of Two.
A/N: This might seem kinda familiar with my other stories involving Michelle Lewis "Spells and Louds" and "A Sparking Relationship." What can I say? Michelle Lewis is one of my favorite female characters in the loud house, and I can see that she deserves to be a good person instead of a bad one. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
