Family of Two.
Chapter 69: Lucy in the Loud House.
(The Shapiro House.)
Lucy awakens and she's in her white and black pajama clothes and she has a smile on her face, she walks out of the room and she heads to the bathroom to get herself ready for the day.
Soon, she leaves the bathroom in her towel and she sees her sister, Maggie waiting. "Hey Luce, got any plans for today little sis?"
"Yeah, I wanna go and hang out at the louds and see if they need any help. You're welcome to join" replied Lucy.
"Well, of course I have to come with you. Mom and Dad also knew you'd go there today, so I'm tagging along to keep an eye on you, that and I wanna see the ghost again, she is so wicked cool!" said Maggie.
Lucy smirks. "I know." She then hugs Maggie. "Thanks for having hopes I would make amends and face my fears yesterday."
Maggie smiles and she hugs her little sister. "Truth be told I thought you might end up losing it, but I am glad you made it through and now you and Harriet are no longer against each other, or in fear of her."
They then depart from the hug. "At least everything is okay now, but I still question the whole issue with Lincoln, Luna and the others. Everyone has seen the incident and sooner or later, more and more things will come and I don't want them to go through this alone. I wanna help them out and keep the family they have together and not let them fall apart."
Maggie smiles and she fixes Lucy's towel on her head. "Loyalty to help the former family, that's mighty nice of you sis and sure as heck I am in on it as well, the other reason I wanna tag along is because my friends are kinda busy and I don't have anything to do. So, I will bring something with me just in case trouble does stir up."
Lucy sighs. "Let's hope you don't have to use it." She then goes back to her room.
Maggie watches as her little sister goes back to her room and she too sighs as she goes to the bathroom. "Same here sis, same here."
(Skip, somewhere at Franklin Avenue.)
Lucy and Maggie are both walking towards the loud house, they then see some three people who take pictures of the house itself and they knew this was bad and so they go towards them.
"Hey! What the heck do you people think you're doing here?" asked Lucy.
They see the three blonde people, a father, his wife and daughter. "We heard about the ghost who lives here with the family of the mom and son and we were wondering if we can meet with them. You guys know them?"
Maggie then pulls out a police night stick. "Yes, yes we do and we suggest you leave them alone or someone is getting the beating of a life time!"
The three tourists then go back to their car and drive off, they then see Luna come out and go to them. "Hey, what the heck are you guys doing here?" She then sees the car drive off. "And what the heck happened?"
Lucy sighs. "Tourists, the people outside of town still wanna come here and see you guys."
Luna doesn't like this, she knew that things would escalate. "Damn it. This makes it the second time and I don't like this, not one bit. The mayor said she's deploying cops and contacting the governor of Michigan and we have to wait for some kind of response to end this madness, I fear we might end up facing some dorks who wanna speak to Harriet, Youtuber ghost seekers."
"Well, that does sound trouble. You're gonna have to find a way to make them walk away or take one hell of a beat down" said Maggie as she puts the nightstick away.
Luna is shocked she has that. "Where the heck did you get a cops melee weapon?"
"Our uncle is a cop at Great Lake City, and he let us keep this for when we need it the most" replied Maggie.
"I've never seen him, but we might meet him again when it's Thanksgiving next week" replied Lucy. "Also, the reason why we're here, we wanna see if you guys need any help around the house and I wanna have some one-on-one time with Harriet."
Luna smiles. "You got it Luce change, Sam and Jordan have plans today and I think one of them is hunting down some tourists who think they can come to Franklin Avenue."
They then go towards the house, Maggie then looks to Lucy. "Luce change?"
Luna chuckles. "Some nickname I used to call her back then."
Maggie smiles. "Maybe I should keep calling you that, or maybe tell mom and dad about that nickname."
Lucy turns red. "Please don't. Also, why aren't you and Lincoln going out to spend some alone time elsewhere, like go into town and do some shopping?"
"As nice as that sounds, we decided not to. We have enough food and junk and there aren't any big time shopping events coming up, also we were being cautious as to not get the attention of tourists should they think about coming" said Luna. "And thanks for scaring the tourists off too."
"We know you guys are the talk of the town still and everyone in town have seen the footage from the day before yesterday, so they all feel bad and wanna do their part and knock some sense into every dork who thinks it's cool to come here and ruin the peace in the house" replied Maggie.
"How's Lincoln doing?" asked Lucy.
Luna sighs. "Well, he's faring well, sorta. He did seem to calm down after we got the letter we left out in the mail. The letter was from….. Junior."
They enter the house and Lucy is shocked. "What?"
Luna turns around and looks to the little Goth girl. "That's right, we got a letter from Lynn Junior. You're former roomie and sister. She…. She feels bad, for what she did and well the letter says it all."
Lucy couldn't believe it, a letter from the former family, from her former sister and roommate. "Where's the letter now?"
"With me." They see Lincoln come down the stairs with the letter in hand. Lucy goes over and hugs him and he hugs her back. "Good to see you Luce."
"Lincoln, are you doing alright? What did the letter say?" asked Lucy.
They depart from the hug and Lucy is handed the letter and she reads it.
"Dear Lincoln and Luna. Look, I know things have been hard and I know you two either hate me or scared of me still, or both and I know that things have been way hard for you two there as hard as it is for me to be in juvie. I…. Well, everyone saw the footage of that weirdo ghost hunting group and what they did and I did not like it at all."
"They had the nerve to go to you guys and ruin the peace you guy have won from the court conflict we all had and I just wanna say, I am sorry and I know that saying that won't work because I know that redemption is not an easy task for me to go through. Also, I suck at making apology letters and that's why I made this for you guys to read, because I know this could be a good start."
"I got your letter, the one about lightening my sentence and when the day does come, then I'm gonna be 16 and then that's when I have the chance to meet with you guys again and then we can talk things out and see where the future goes from there. I don't know what else to do anymore to earn the trust we lost from each other, but I will do my hardest to do whatever it takes to show you guys how sorry I am for the biggest mistake of our former family's life."
"I'm glad Harriet is watching over you guys and I am still kinda frightened by her, but glad she cares for those she still trusts and that's you guys. Well, I hope we can meet again soon, from Lynn (former Loud) Junior, I hope the rest of the family is doing fine, and Happy late birthday Lincoln and Luna."
Lucy is shocked from the words of this letter, she never knew Lynn would make this and then send it. "Have there been any others?"
Lincoln shakes his head. "No, just this one. But we know there'll be more and they're gonna be from the other family, but from Lana and Lola is a major question and I don't know about Lisa either."
"Things are escalating fast, and sooner or later the peeps from our past will wanna see us and we know that's one thing we both have to figure out, but until then we both hold our own with this whole people coming to see the ghost thing" replied Luna. "At least it opened you're eyes and got you to open up and get redeemed Luce change."
Lucy smiles. "If the letters from Lori, Leni, Luan and the parents do come, can you guys tell me?"
Lincoln and Luna nod. "We will and we'll read it together, and also bring Lily along as well" replied Lincoln.
Lucy hands Lincoln back the note. "So, what are you guys up to?"
"Chores." They all get startled by Great Grandma Harriet who comes out of nowhere. "It is good to see you once again Lucy, and to see you as well Maggie. We were planning to clean some parts of the house and also check for any signs of animals that may have broken in."
"Well, how about we help you. We did our home cleaning two weeks ago and I guess this place could use some cleaning too" said Lucy. "Like old times."
Lincoln and Luna smile hearing that. "Like old times." They
"Well, looks like we got our hands busy. Let's do this thing" replied Maggie.
They all go around the house and start cleaning up the place. For Lucy, this will bring back some old bonding memories she had with Lincoln, they may be chores but it still feels like old times.
(Cleaning montage.)
They start with the bathroom and clean everything that needs cleaning the most and help search the vents for any signs of damage and thankfully Lucy can still be able to go into the vents to search for anything from animals and they make sure Lucy has to be careful.
Lincoln and Lucy then begin cleaning the living room and then the dining room, while Luna and Maggie get to the kitchen.
Lincoln and Lucy then head outside and they do what they can to clean the backyard, like mowing the lawn and cleaning out the garage, while Luna and Maggie deal with the flower garden near the house. Luna has taken up some lessons on how to handle this kind of thing and all thanks to Mr. Grouse and his gardening skills.
Harriet is in the basement cleaning the place whole also washing the clothes. She has notices the washing machine making some odd noises. "We might need a new one, soon."
(End montage.) – Well that was short, not much to do around the place.
Lucy and Lincoln are now upstairs and cleaning the hallway. Lucy then looks to her room, well the room she once stayed in. "Linc, does Harriet stay in that room?"
Lincoln stops sweeping. "She does and she doesn't really like it when someone goes in there without knocking, we haven't even gone in there since the week after the whole court thing."
Lucy sighs. "Lincoln can I have some of my things back?"
Lincoln is not shocked. "Well, mom and I were wondering when you'd want them back." He then let's the broom lean onto the wall and he pulls on the rope on the ceiling and the attic ladder comes down. "Come on, they're up here."
Lucy sighs as she sees this. 'Been a long time.' She follows Lincoln up the ladder and they are now in the attic.
Lucy looks around and is surprised that all the things from the old family is there. Lori's things, Leni's sewing equipment, Luan's prank items and joke stuff, Lynn's sports gear and trophies which are in boxes, Lola's pageant stuff that are also in boxes and lastly are most of the things from Lisa, Lana and from their former parents.
Lucy then sees the light is on and Lincoln holds her hand. "Follow me."
Lucy nods and she looks at everything there, all of the stuff are memories, left to remain here in the attic as forgotten until found by the former owners. She even recalls she always came here, because she has a dark place she goes to that she likes and now that dark place has some boxes.
'Everything here is so many and so daunting. I don't even know how I can even handle this place, and how the heck is Lincoln not breaking down from seeing this stuff? It's all belonging to the former family.'
Lucy then sees Lincoln has stopped and she sees some boxes all named Lucy's things and they're all at the dark space that Lucy likes, well it does seem fitting for her things to be on that spot. "Well, here they are. All here and haven't been touched in nearly two months. Go on ahead Luce."
Lucy checks each box and sees everything she has ever owned is still here. Her books, her posters, some of her old clothing when she was very little, her old toys which are weird and creepy, her séance equipment such as her Ouija board and then she sees her coffin, the one she always slept in.
Lucy then touches her coffin and sighs. Lincoln goes to her and places a hand onto her shoulder. He knows what's wrong.
"Luce, I can tell this is eating you inside. I know all of this is hurting you because it all belonged to the folks who aren't here with us anymore, or even a family anymore. Heck, I even feel uneasy being here sometimes, but I know that one day I can see them and hear them out. Because if some of them can be redeemed such as you and Leni, then I know they can all be redeemed."
Lucy doesn't respond, Lincoln knows she's thinking about this.
"Luce, do you want some of this stuff to go with you? If yes then mom and I can be able to make that happen, the coffin will be hard though."
Lucy still doesn't reply, but she does see something she thought she'd never see ever again, something, or someone she thought she'd never see again, the bust of Edwin from the show Vampires of Melancholia.
Lucy picks up the bust and then she puts it back into the box. She then sees something in the box with him, a book she keeps her poems and another about a dark story, but she then picks it up and inside is not a scary story, it was the princess pony book.
The scary story cover is to keep it hidden and this sparks a memory that hurts her the most and she starts to shed tears.
Lincoln sees the book and he knows this is what brings back memories that were not meant to be recalled. "Come here Luce."
The little Goth then hugs Lincoln and cries. "Lincoln…. L-Lincoln, I am so sorry. I am so, so sorry for all of this. For all that has happened, for leaving you alone and not doing anything and for letting you take the fall for that stupid princess pony book!" She continues to sob into his hoodie.
Lincoln also has some tears, but he stands strong and continues to hug the crying Goth girl. "It's okay Lucy, its okay. That was the past and I forgive you, I did that for a reason and I would continue to do so."
All Lucy can do is cry, cry knowing the family is shattered and that everything she has done still haunts and can never be unforgotten. Lincoln knows this time, Lucy needs help getting over the past.
Sure Lincoln would break down at the mention of the past with luck, but seeing Lucy like this hurts him, like an old instinct he once had that still lingers and that it the instinct of being a big brother and sure enough he is not going to let his little sister get hurt like this. Not while he lives, which are the things Luna would've done if he was on pain.
Lincoln then feels another pair of arms in the hug and he sees it's his mom, Luna. She knows what Lucy is going through and it hurts her to see the little Goth girl like this, seeing the things from the past is too much to bare and it hurts to recall.
Another pair of arms also joins in and they belong to Maggie and she hugs onto Lucy tighter and does what she can to comfort her little adopted Goth sister, she's been comforting Lucy ever since she became part of the family and she will keep doing this, for Lucy.
While they all have this small moment, Great Grandma Harriet sees this and sighs. 'Things won't be so easy for Lucy and I don't know if she even wants the things she once owned. It could be some time before she can get over some past memories, but until then it's our turn to be there for her. Because we were there for Lincoln, and now it's time for the former big brother to be there for his former little sister.'
Harriet then sees an opossum hiding in the shadows. 'So, that's how some of the wildlife got in here. How did they break into the roof?'
A/N: Lucy is a long way from forgetting what happened from long ago, but they'll be there to help her and chances there's gonna be more tourists who wanna see the boy, his mother and the ghost. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
