This chapter is based off of the Season 3 episode "Racing Hearts" The partners have been changed and no Lincoln and Jordan aren't gonna be a tag team for this one, I'm sure you guys know who's gonna be partnering through the whole thing. Enjoy reading guys.
Family of Two.
Chapter 90: Race and Quest.
(Royal Woods, Ketcham Park.)
The purple Ferrari of the two louds family members arrives to the park, and Lincoln and Luna come out and look around the park. The school day is done and they see tons of folks have come to be part and watch the Royal Woods Astonishing Quest! Woo! Yeah!
Lincoln could see a lot of friends of his are there and Luna sees some good pals as well.
Let's see whose tag teaming in this event: Chloe and Clyde, Zach and Rusty, Polly and Margo, Trent and Kat, Jenny and Flat Tire, Richie and Artie, Sully and Mazzy, Dennis and Patrick, Albert and Myrtle, Fiona and Miguel, Jackie and Mandee, Carol and Beatrix, Dana and Becky, Mrs. Carmichael and Michelle Lewis, Coach Pokawski and Nurse Patty, Sheryl and her twin sister Meryl, Principal Rivers and Principal Ramirez? Also, Mrs. Dimartino and Hugh? Whoa! What the heck is going on here?!
Even Detectives Merris and StoneHeart are competing and Kathrine Mulligan is on the scene and is doing a cover story about the whole thing. Also, this is by far the only kind of news and story she can find on such short notice.
"Wow. A lot of very familiar and friendly faces around here" said Luna.
"Sure are, also how the heck did our pals and gals get here before we did?" asked Lincoln.
"Lincoln, Luna! You guys made it!" They see who's calling them. Sam, Simon Jordan and Mollie.
"Hey guys, looks like you're all ready for this" said Lincoln.
Jordan giggles. "Like heck we are, but are you sure you two wanna be partners for this and not tag team with any of us?"
"Yeah, I mean you two are an item now an dubbed the couple of Royal Woods Elementary School and I thought you two would tag team in this event and show us what you guys can do" said Mollie.
"As fun as that sounds, we decided not to" replied Lincoln. "We could use some awesome mom and son time and what best way to do so in the Royal Woods Astonishing Quest."
"We could literally use some outdoors fun and challenging efforts and would really show just how far we've come from everything we've been through" said Luna. "I hope that's cool with you Sammy."
Sam chuckles. "Not at all, I think it's sweet that you and Lincoln wanna do this and bond some more, and this gives me time to bond some more with my chubby little baby bro!" She then ruffles her brother's hair and then kisses his cheek.
Simon chuckles from this. "Sam, I am not chubby. Mom and dad said its baby fat. I think. Plus, this could be an awesome experience, like an adventure quest game or a role playing game."
Lincoln smiles. "Slow down there Simon, not like a video game and there are no extra lives or power ups. Try and be careful and work together, that's how these things work."
"Kinda a good thing Lynn or the rest of the family isn't here" said Lucy as she comes out of nowhere and scares them. "Sorry, but what I say is true. The last time this event happened, Lynn went show off onto everyone's faces and made them look like idiots."
Luna sighs. "Luce is not wrong, Lynn would be banned if she did show up here and she might try something to get in and win it for the gold."
"Well, just as long as we're not gonna be over competitive, then everything will be alright" replied Lincoln.
Just then, they hear Mayor Davis on stage and she makes the announcement. "Good afternoon everyone, as Mayor of Royal Woods. It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to this year's Astonishing Quest!"
Everyone cheers and high fives and fist bumps their partners and even look to the opposing teams with some competitive looks.
The Mayor then pushes on her keyboard making this cymbals sound. "Got this from my kids for Christmas." She pushes another key and it makes an awesome starry sound. "I like that one."
"So, here's how the quest works: teams will get clues that will lead them to locations where they have to complete challenges. The team that finishes the last challenge first, will win…." She then unveils what's under the tarp. "The key to the city!"
Everyone else is shocked from this and Zach faints. But then the mayor covers it up. "Nah, just kidding. The winning team gets this trophy and a whole month of free desserts and Jean-Juan's!" She shows them the trophy that's as big as Lucy and then the free dessert pass that comes with it.
Now those are some prizes worth the win and everyone is locked and loaded for this challenge to win that trophy and the free desserts!
"So, does anyone have any questions?" asked Mayor Davis.
Clyde raises his hand. "Will there be paramedics as we continue, just in case?"
"Yes, yes there will be" replied Mayor Davis. "And with that being said, you all have your first clue. On your marks, get set…" She pushes the key but it makes a fart sound. "Whoops, that's not it." She pushes the right one and it makes a horn sound. "Go!"
Everyone begins to read their letters and the clue inside.
Sam: You're first challenge is easy to master, if you're handy with a blaster?
Simon smiles. "I know that one! Lazer Maze! Let's go sis!" They all race to the location, but Sam is not sure about this.
As everyone is on the move, Katherine and her crew get to the helicopter and they follow the action so everyone can see what's going on from the big screen at the park. Harriet is among the people watching and she has a sign that says: Go Lincoln, go Luna! You guys can do it! She has team spirit, I think. Was that a pun?
Lucy sighs. "Glad I'm not part of that and the same with Maggie, she's on a date right now."
(Lazer Maze.)
The battle has begun and all hell has broken lose all over the place. Lincoln and Luna have each other's backs and they dodge and blast through everyone who's moving.
Luna blasts at Albert and Myrtle. "Sorry Pop-pop and Gran-gran, but this is a contest after all!"
"No problem sweetie and nice shot too" said Pop-pop. He then blasts Rusty who was gonna go for him. "Nice try kid, but I know my way into the heart of the fire!"
Lincoln manages to blast at Zach and then Clyde, and then Lance and then Trent and then Hugh and then Flat Tire and then Carol and then Mollie. How is he doing this?!
Then he blasts someone but he also gets blasted by that person and he sees who he shot, is the one who shot him and that person is Jordan Rosato.
They both look at each other and are silent from this. "This is awkward." They then blast two other people as they look at each other.
Luna then notices Sam is having a hard time and she ends up shooting Simon. "Sorry!"
Luna then recalls. "Right. Sam is terrible at this." Principal Rivers comes from behind, but Luna points her blaster behind her and blasts away her principal. "Sorry dude."
(Later.)
Everyone has finished the challenge and are headed to the next location, and soon Sam and Simon come out along with Lincoln and Luna. "Sorry about that Simon, I'm not good at Lazer Maze" replied Sam.
"That's okay sis, let's read the next clue" said Simon. Lincoln and Luna also dot the same.
Luna: How now, brown cow, don't take a lakin', you'll win this round unless you're chicken.
"Hmm, cows and chickens?" Lincoln then figured it out. "I know it means, come on!" They all follow Lincoln.
(Bumpkin Farm.)
They arrive to the place and Liam gives instructions to them on what to do and this makes Luna a bit worried and they all go into the chicken coop with their baskets and they see Jordan and Mollie walk out with their basket filled with eggs.
"Have fun you guys, and be lucky the rooster isn't around" said Jordan. Luna didn't like the sound of that one.
They go into the chicken coop and Lincoln, Simon and Sam start collecting eggs. Lincoln then sees Luna is nervous about this. "Mom, take it easy. They're not gonna be any harm to you, just leave them alone and they won't do anything to you."
Luna sighs and she sees how well Sam is doin this and so she goes to one of the nests and she takes one egg and places it into the basket. "Huh, nothing happened to me." Luna then continues to collect eggs and all of them walk out and hand over a basket with more than a dozen eggs.
Liam sees this. "Well, I asked for a dozen eggs, but this'll do. Now here's your next clue. Heh, I rhymed back there."
They then read the next clue.
Lincoln: Feeling restless? In a rut? Then come over here and shake your butt.
They make their way to one place that Luna knows.
(Werk it Dance Studio.)
They all follow the instructions to the instructor and they begin to move to the beat and dance what they were given.
Luna and Lincoln are in sync and so are Jordan and Mollie, but then Luna notices Sam is trying her best. "Sammy, take it steady and let the beat come to ya, like when we go to concerts and enjoy the jams!"
Sam smiles and she listens to the beat of the song and she grooves it and she moves it and now she's dancin' with it! "I'm dancing! Yeah!"
Luna smiles at this, and so Lincoln and Luna go over and they are now in sync with Simon and Sam.
(Later.)
They're outside and talking to each other with their clues in hand. "That was so awesome! I never thought I could be able to dance, because normally I'm not good at it" said Sam.
"Glad you could do it Sam, looks like you can now groove to the beat the next time a concert is in town" said Lincoln, He then high fives with Sam.
"Yup, and all it took was some pretty good motivational help from my face babe" said Sam.
Luna blushes at this. "Glad I could help out babe, now we should get to the next clue and wee where it goes from there."
Simon: You're muscles ache, but don't you stop, you're challenge is to reach the top.
"Rock climbing!" said Lincoln, Simon and Sam.
But Luna is not amused by this and is a bit uneasy. "Yeah, awesome."
(Blue bells camping grounds.)
Everyone scales the rock wall, some of them are having a hard time, while most are having a blast. Now normally Luna wouldn't be good at rock climbing, but she manages and she keeps trying to reach the top and she gets some help from Lincoln.
They do look back down and notice Pop-pop. "Pop-pop, come on up. You're a soldier and a soldier never backs down!" said Lincoln.
Albert heard what his grandson said and he has a stern look. "Yeah, yeah you're right!" He then takes in some courage and for some reason he has a red bandana and he scales the wall. "I'm a soldier and I never back down! Bring it on! To the chopper!"
Lincoln and Luna are confused by that, but they too catch up and make it to the top and grab the flag then come back down to get the next clue. Soon Albert comes down with Myrtle and then Sam and Simon.
(Later.)
After a bathroom break, they all then read the next clue.
Lincoln: Mail that burger back to sender, try something healthy from our blender.
Sam then smiles. "I know this one, we have to go to the organic juice store!" They then race off, but Lincoln, Luna and Simon are not pleased by this.
(The organic juice store.)
They make it to the place and the man who runs it hands them a mystery drink and they must identify as many ingredients within their new drink called The Earth Warrior Challenge, Sam is excited, but Simon, Luna and Lincoln are not.
Carol, and the teens know this place and they too enjoy what it has to serve. What is it with teens and drinks like this? No wait, never mind, forget I asked.
Sam then drinks her organic drink and she then tells what she can taste. "Okay, I'm tasting kale, wheat grass, dandelions, nutritional yeast and…." She then hears some vomiting and she sees Lincoln, Luna and Sam have thrown up in the nearest trash bin.
"Fish oil!" yelled Lincoln.
"Who drinks this stuff?!" said Simon.
Luna removes her head from the trash bin. "I think i…." But then she throws up again. She then stops. "Taste lobster paste and do not ask me how I know that one, biggest mistake of my life!"
(Outside.)
"Sorry you guys had to do that, I forgot that when it comes to drinks like this, only a few good souls can manage" said Sam.
They then see Jordan coming out and Mollie and both of them feel sick. "We should talk to the mayor about….. Not having this again for…..Next year" said Mollie.
Lincoln sighs. "Come on guys, we should…" Lincoln feels queasy. "We should finish this." Luna rubs his back and is concerned about him. Sam is also not feeling okay with Lincoln and how he feels.
Sam: Tie the knot and castaway, the winds at your back, so don't delay. This makes Sam smile and so does Lincoln and Simon, Luna on the other hand has no clue where they're going.
"So, where is our next stop?"
(Tall Timbers Park.)
They arrive to the lake and they setup the sailboat. Lincoln, Sam and Simon are having a good time, but then Lincoln looks to his mom. "Mom? I know you have a hard time with sail boats, come on and maybe I can show ya."
Luna nods and she takes her sons hand and their boat takes off from the land and are now sailing away with Simon and Sam next to them. They spot some other folks sailing, but it looks like Zach and Rusty are having a hard time.
Albert and Myrtle are doing well, and leading is…. Coach Pokawski and Nurse Patti? Well, he does live on a boat so he knows what he's doing.
Luna then sees how fun this is. "Huh, this isn't so bad! This is awesome!" She then maneuvers the boat and they move faster. "This is so cool!"
"Darn right it is!" said Sam as she catches up. "Woohoo! Queen of the world baby, right Simon?" She then sees Simon throwing up. "Simon?!"
Luna then sees Lincoln also vomiting. "M-Mom, I think that….. Smoothie hasn't l-left me." He then throws up and Luna goes to him, but because no one is manning the boat they hit land.
Luna and Sam bring Lincoln and Simon back to shore. "You guys okay?" asked Sam.
"I think the waves of the water made some extra stuff inside of us" said Simon. He then feels like throwing up, but he stops.
Luna then sighs. "That's it, we're stopping now. That smoothie store really got to the both of ya way too much." some of the folks overhear this, then they recall seeing that Jordan and Mollie aren't there and the same goes with Richie and Artie, Sully and Mazzy, Jenny and Flat Tire, Dennis and Patrick and Trent and Kat.
Lincoln then looks to his mom. "Mom, no. we wanna keep going, we wanna keep doing this with you two."
Luna and Sam know they're close to the end. "Are you guys sure about this?" asked Sam.
Lincoln and Simon nod, and the two teens don't seem to have a choice. They didn't wanna disappoint the two kids. They then grab the next clue and get to reading it.
Luna: One last challenge and then you can gloat, this astonishing quest ends on a sweet note.
Lincoln then knows what it is and his aching stomach is gone. "Baking!"
(Larry Berry Bakery.)
They arrive to the bakery and see that lots of folks are there, and they see the mayor who then tells them what to do, the end of this contest is to make an apple pie and this is one thing they are all good at.
"Let's do this!" They head to their stations and get to baking. Luna, Sam and Lincoln recall what they know and Simon helps Sam with what she needs.
They did have some bonding time learning to bake, and so now Luna and Sam know how to handle something they were once terrible at.
After 30 minutes, everyone finished their pies. Mayor Davis looks to each one and if they look good, then she tries them and then she grades them from numbers one to ten on how well they made it.
And in the end. "Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner!" She then pushes onto the key and the sound of ad drumroll is made. "Clyde and Chloe's pie wins the whole contest! Congrats you two."
Chloe and Clyde take the trophy and the pass. "So, looks like we're both gonna be having some desserts when we go out huh?" asked Clyde.
Chloe blushes. "Y-Yeah, I guess we will."
Everyone else awes at this sight. Lincoln chuckles. 'Well done buddy, I knew he'd win. He and Chloe re aces at the baking.' Then Lincoln feels something wrong and he looks for a trash can and he throws up and so does Simon.
Luna and Sam go over to them and so does Albert and Myrtle, Harriet appears out of nowhere and she goes to the two boys.
Everyone else is shocked from this. "What happened to them?" asked Mayor Davis.
A/N: Next chapter is not a good day for Lincoln, let's just say all of that stuff he drank might not have been what others thought. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
