Chapter 141: The pain is not gone.
( January 2. The Royal Woods Mall.)
Lincoln and Luna go around the mall, as it turns out they opened up really early to get ready for the big New Year sale and a lot of people are in the mall and doing a ton of shopping.
Michelle Lewis is at her work and is doing the best she can, and even though they were supposed to do their shopping, they managed to make it happen and now Jackie and Mandee are now helping make sure Reiningers doesn't turn into a wasteland from a mob of shoppers.
But truth is, Lincoln and Luna did they're shopping someplace else that isn't too swamped with a lot of customers and that place is Gryphons shopping and right now they both are busy going through some things they have not seen before.
Lincoln is looking at a really big poster of Ace Savvy, but he doesn't wanna buy it, the thing seems too pricey.
Luna is looking at multiple Mick Swagger albums, that she has seen, but these ones she has seen and heard, but it says they have some extra sings she has never heard of. So she just checks out the headphones she has never seen.
Lincoln and Luna then meet back at the shoes area. "So, anything that seemed like you wanna buy kiddo?" asked Luna.
"Well, the only ones I found was this sketchpad if I wanna do some drawing and also this art kid" replied Lincoln. "I wasn't in the mood for some comics, not until I get a response from Bill Buck and what he thought of the comic I made."
Luna smiles. "Well, I didn't get anything much, just some shoes and also some new pens we can use. Also, this book called " The Grayman " I think this is a thriller novel Great Grandma Harriet would like."
Lincoln chuckles. "Yeah she sure would love it. Sure wish Lucy was here to spend some time with us but…."
Luna knows why. "Yeah, it does feel kinda sad that Luce and the Shapiro family have to say goodbye to her pops. He has to go back to service in the fight for freedom and stuff, but they'll pull through and he might be back to spend some time with Lucy and Maggie."
Lincoln smiles. "In the meantime, we can be there to keep her company, and Maggie and the rest of her Goth friends as well."
"True." Luna then sees something. "Hang back here kiddo, there's something I gotta check out."
Lincoln nods and he waits by the seats with the stuff they got to bring back home, then he feels someone is watching him and he looks to his right and sees. "Oh, hi Lisa."
It is Lisa, and she's looking at him. She's also there shopping with her sister's Teri and Darcy and right now Darcy found a plush Giraffe lady for her plush Giraffe guy.
Lisa then speaks. "Hello Lincoln, I assume you are here with your mother."
Lincoln nods. "Pretty much, you wanna sit next to me?"
Lisa shakes her head. "As much as I would like to talk some more, I only came here to say…… That, I am having a hard time trying to tell you how I feel after everything that the former family has been through and I know that…"
"I understand Lisa" replied Lincoln.
"Because there are many things I have to say that…." she then stops. "Wait, what?! What do you mean you understand?"
Lincoln sighs. "Lisa, I know that even though you are a smart and still have that same emotionless demeanor. Deep down, I know you feel hurt, shame and regret. But mostly, guilt. Lisa, you're 4 year's old and gonna be five this year. You wanna try to talk, but your prodigy emotions is keeping you from it."
"I still know the Lisa from before, and even though you don't show it much, you have emotions in there that wanna be let out, but you don't know how to show them because it makes you feel scared, nervous and bit insecure about what you wanna do in life."
"We've been down this before Lisa, even when you try to hide it. I understand that you have a hard time trying to talk to me, it's been that way since you were adopted by the Shapiro family, and I can wait….. When the time comes, then come and talk to me and mom and we can settle what's on your mind."
Lisa is shocked, no she is baffled by this response from her former white haired brother. She did not see this coming at all.
"Wow…… Umm, okay then. Thank you for understanding….. I guess we'll talk again soon."
Lincoln smiles. "I guess we will and maybe we can have Lucy come and listen to you as well."
Lisa smiles hearing that. "That would be nice, Lincoln. Also, I was informed that Lola and Lana are back in town, and….. I will have your back to make sure they do not try to interact with you, for they are well…"
Lincoln knows. "Hard to handle since the twins had so much to do with the whole, Bad Luck thing. That I understand and I don't wanna talk to them…. Well, not yet at least. Thanks Lisa, and if they do try to talk to you, then I'll be there to back you up."
"Same here little dude." They both see Luna go towards them and with a new pair of sneakers for Lincoln to wear, his sized and his liking to the color and style. "Hey there Lis."
Lisa smiles. "Hello Luna, it's nice to see you again and even though I have so much to tell you both, I'm afraid I must got and check on my sisters, and chances Darcy may have gotten more than she can chew or even afford." She then begins top walk away, but she looks back. "Till we speak again, Lincoln and Luna Loud."
Lincoln and Luna smile and wave goodbye to her. They watch as Lisa walks back to her two sisters.
Lincoln sighs in relief. "Wow! That was….. I didn't see that one coming, I didn't even think Lisa was able to talk to me."
"I know, right?" said Luna. She goes over to her son and hands him the box of sneakers. "I didn't even think she was even able to start it off on the new month too. That was…. That was something, and a good dang start too."
Lincoln smiles. "When the time comes, then she'll be ready to tell us how she feels and I do hope Lucy can join us too. Once we tell her."
"True to that." Luna kisses his forehead. "Now, how about we pay this stuff up and then head to the food court? Because I am dang right starving."
Lincoln chuckles. "Sure, I could use a bacon burger with extra cheese." They both get up and they pay up for what they bought.
They soon make it out of the place, and talk about what they plan for January 18 and who they might bring with them, but then Lincoln backs up and he stays behind Luna. "Linc, whats wrong?" She then looks at what he was looking at and is shocked.
Right there, a few feet from them are Lola and Lana, and with them is Mrs. Johnson, they came there to do some shopping. This accidental meet up gets the attention from some of the folks, and Michelle sees this as well.
' Oh shit!'
Luna stands her ground and backs up. Lana sees Lincoln. "Lincoln, I….." But Lola grabs her.
"Lana, no." They see the uncertain and concerned look from Lincoln, even though he seems to have forgiven almost all the louds, the twins were an issue, he had to endure what they did to him during the whole bad luck thing.
Lana backs away and feels upset that Lincoln is feeling like this. Mrs. Johnson then speaks. "Sorry, we were just gonna shop for some stuff for the twins to use, when they have to go to school soon."
Luna nods. "Okay…. We're gonna go, now." Luna then steps to the side with Lincoln and she and her son walk away in another direction and then they head for the food court.
Agnes Johnson along with Lola and Lana head to Gryphons shopping. Deep down, she can tell how upset and guilty Lola and Lana are. Even though they know what they did to their former brother was wrong, they wanna try and regain what they lost from him, but that is not an easy task to do.
Lincoln is still upset and doesn't seem to like seeing little girls with makeup, such as Lindsay Sweetwater, because girls like her, remind him of the pageants of Lola and he recalls when Lola would shove him with the squirrel suit onto her competition to make them look bad, and he ended up getting beaten up and badly hurt from those girls.
Also, Lindsay Sweetwater has moved out of town, he pageant career there is done since little girl pageantry has been shut down, until further notices.
But from Lana, that is something Lincoln has trouble with. Because of her, he has a slight fear of very large, carnivorous reptiles, or in other words, Alligators.
He recalls the time he went to her alligator wrestling competition and the large gator broke out and went after him, he recalls the teeth of the beast piercing the suit and nearing his left side. Lana may have saved him, but that was scarring and even worse, when it was over, Lana asked if the suit was okay. She didn't ask if he was fine, which hurt him the most.
Also another reason for Lincoln to barely even think of giving some forgiveness to Lynn Sr, because he was there that day, and what did he do? He asked if the suit was okay, and that they would get it fixed and then he just dragged the exhausted boy in the suit back to the van, and that also angered and horrified Luna.
Both Lola and Lana have a lot to make up, but now they both fear of tomorrow which is their 7th birthday and Monday. Which is when they will have to, go back to school!
( With Lincoln and Luna.)
They both go to the food court, and they find a seat. Lincoln then sits down and he still has an uncertain face. Luna then goes over to him. "Lincoln, you okay buddy?"
Lincoln nods. "Y-Yeah, I just….. I …… I don't know." He then wipes away some tears.
"Lincoln?" Luna sees its Jordan and her parents and so she goes over and she hugs Lincoln, she can tell he needs it and she knows why, she was the video from Carol about their confrontation with the twins, and it was a long time since they saw them.
Lincoln hugs her back, and he begins to shed some tears and whimpers at the thought of what happened, when Lola and Lana were involved with the bad luck thing.
Carol, Dana, Becky, Jackie and Mandee see this and go over to check on him.
Michelle is at her break and she rushes to see if he was okay, and following her is Fiona and Miguel.
Clyde and his dad's see this, and so does Lisa and her sisters. Lisa can tell, this is not good and she then thinks. ' A plan must be made, but to make this happen I need to speak with Lincoln's friends, but to speak to them I need some help from Clyde and Chloe, and they also must inform this to Lucy.'
Luna then hugs her son, and does what she can to comfort him. "I think we should go home now, bud. Are you okay with that?"
Lincoln nods. "Y-Yes, yes….. Please, mom."
Luna departs from the hug and she holds her son's hand as she walks with him out of the mall, with the things in her hands, but Jordan helps her carry them since she and her parents are also going home.
The folks at the food court watch as Luna and Lincoln walk out of the mall, with the boy feeling upset and wiping away tears that keep coming. His thoughts and memories are trying to breach in, and he's trying to be strong to fend them off.
Carol sighs. ' Dang it. Things just turned from bad, to worse.' She then grabs her phone and texts this to Bobby, and then he can tell this to Ronnie Anne and Sid.
( The Loud House.)
The things they bought are still in the bags and are in the living room and Great Grandma Harriet is on the couch and is upset. ' Looks like we're back again, back to the bad memories of the past. Things won't be so easy anymore and just when things were turning out okay.'
She then looks to the photo album, which had all the good memories of the louds back then. ' There's no chance we can ever go back to those simpler times, things have turned bad and now it's going to get worse….. And I thought the upcoming Lewis family reunion was gonna be a crisis issue.'
( Lincoln and Luna's room.)
Luna is sitting on the large teddy bear bean bag chair from Lincoln's birthday and her son is on her lap and snuggling close as he cries onto her chest.
He couldn't stay strong, and now he's breaking down, again.
To Luna; it hurts to see him like this, to have everything he had to fight through and endure come rushing in at full speed. Lincoln may have had to go through the torture of being in the suit and dragged by everyone in the loud family, but to be part of the pageants and the alligator wrestling was painful and truly tormenting.
Luna knows that through this, it could mean a major drawback for what she has planned for him soon. ' I'm gonna have to call it off in visiting the other former louds, can't have him losing his cool in front of them. It's too much for all of us to bear.'
Luna runs her fingers through his white hair and she kisses his head. "There, there Linc. Everything's gonna be okay, I'm here. No one is gonna hurt you Lincoln, I promise you. I'll be there to keep you safe, no more tears now Linc."
Lincoln hugs her tightly and she can feel him trembling from the thoughts of fear coming back. "D-don't…… Don't l-leave me, mom. Please!" He continues to sob onto her chest.
Luna has tears of her own, but she fights them back. "I won't. I never will, and I will always be by your side my child, always and that's a promise I will never ever break."
Lincoln tries to calm down, but he just hugs Luna tightly. "I….. I love you, m-mom."
Luna closes her eyes and she hugs her son tightly. "Mom loves you too Linky, always and always my child."
A/N: The road to the New Year just started and this was not what Lincoln and Luna intended for it to begin with, the twins have met with Lincoln and Luna, and who knows what could happen next for the mother and son of the loud house and for those in Royal Woods.
