Simmons knocked lightly on Alya's open door where her ten year old daughter was sitting on her bed inside working on her second year college homework.

"Hi, mum," Alya said looking up from her books, papers, and laptop. "What's up?"

Simmons walked in and sat down on the edge of Alya's bed next to her daughter before looking at her seriously as she said, "Daisy's flying in this afternoon, and we're all four going out to eat for supper tonight."

"Cool, mum, but since we do that most of the time when Aunt Daisy comes to visit for the weekend, that's not enough for you to have come sat down on my bed — what else is there?" Alya replied.

Simmons smiled wryly — her and Fitz's daughter really was too smart sometimes. That's what she got for marrying the other smartest person on the planet, she guessed.

"There is something else, Alya..." she answered slowly. "Daisy will be here all weekend — which I'm sure isn't any surprise to you either — but tomorrow night.… Well, Fitz and I are taking her out to a nicer dinner, just the three of us adults — if you understand what I'm saying."

By the end she was looking very hesitantly at Alya, waiting to see her daughter's reaction. After all, it wasn't every day that you implied to your kid that her parents were possibly going to start dating another woman — assuming that Alya did in fact pick up that hint, but she was pretty confident that her daughter would. Alya had unquestionable inherited her parents' genius, after all, and would probably surpass both of them by the time she was an adult herself.

But to Simmons' astonishment, Alya merely rolled her eyes at her mum and said, "About bloody time. I was beginning to think that you'd never realize it on your own."

"What?!" Simmons exclaimed in shock.

She and Fitz had only realized that they liked Daisy as more than just a friend over the past few months, and hadn't brought it up with Daisy until the inhuman had told them that she was coming for the weekend to FitzSimmons' Perthshire cottage/non-mobile secret Shield lab in the basement a few days earlier. And that had taken a very long late-night video chat to assure Daisy that it wouldn't mess up FitzSimmons' perfect little family, though Daisy had admittedly seemed perfectly okay with the going out on a date with them part, it was just how such a relationship would affect Alya and the three-become-one family that FitzSimmons already were without Daisy, that the inhuman had been concerned about.

"Oh, come on — it's you and dad all over again," Alya sighed in exasperation, looking very much like a young version of her mum in that moment. "The only people who can't see that the three of you are in love is the three of you."

"Why didn't you ever say anything?!" Simmons exclaimed.

"Did you really want your ten year old daughter telling you to go have sex with your best friend?" Alya replied with a questioning look. "Anyway, she's gone all the time, so there wasn't any really good reason to bring it up myself before we went back to Zephyr One in a few years once I have my two PhDs required to join Shield SciOps, even if my parents run the entire department and the three of us will be the only lab agents aboard Zephyr One. But if you've finally figured out on your own that you like Daisy, and want to try to make it work 'long distance' as it were, or at least off and on weekends when she comes to visit, then I certainly support you."

"Oh — well, I guess that is true, it would have been a little weird you telling us that we should date Daisy, especially before Fitz and I realized it ourselves," Simmons acknowledged. "And I don't even want to know how you know about sex yet, though I'm pretty sure I was aware of it by your age as well, and that was only at the start of the internet generation. But yes, I suppose you could say that Fitz and I, and Daisy, have finally figured it out on our own, and are going to see if we can make this work, and that we really want it to work. I am glad that you're okay with it, though. I mean, it could definitely be awkward telling your daughter that you might start dating another woman, so Fitz and I were worried about how you would take it, and decided it best if I tell you alone, you and I both being females, and me being the female adding another female to our relationship. And we know that you like Aunt Daisy, but the possibility of 'aunt' becoming 'mom' could still be a lot to accept."

"Don't worry, mum, I would be more than happy to have Daisy as my mom," Alya replied reassuringly, before adding in a strict tone, "So don't screw this up for me — I need the lenient mom who will give me everything I ask for."

Simmons couldn't help but laugh out loud at this. "Yeah, you've got Daisy wrapped around your finger, don't you my little monkey?"

"I promise not to abuse it — too much," Alya teased right back, before saying, "Now let's go reassure dad that I'm okay as well with him having a second woman with you."
