WHAT IF - SEASON 5 EPISODE 17 - CREEP (PART 1)
1. Ext. Degrassi. Morning.
Dallas is talking to Riley, as they walk towards the school.
Dallas:
You hung out on Sunday too? Sounds like it´s getting serious between you!
Riley:
We went to a soccer game together and out for a burger afterwards! It´s not like it was the date of the century!
Dallas:
If a girl asked me out on a date like that, I wouldn´t say no!
We cut to Drew, who is waiting for Dallas by the entrance and looks annoyed with him.
Riley:
Good morning, Drew
Drew:
Same to you, Riley. What have you been telling people, Dallas?
Dallas:
I only told one guy, I swear. I had no idea that he would post about it on Face Range.
Drew stares Dallas down with an angry look and Riley gets uncomfortable and being a fifth wheel.
Riley:
This has nothing to do with me, so I´ll see you guys later!
He hurries inside and Drew steps up close to Dallas.
Drew:
You had no right to tell anyone what happened at Katie´s party!
Dallas:
It slipped out. If it´s any consolation, you´ll be a hero among the guys on the team at the next practice.
Drew:
This isn´t about me, it´s about Alli and how you´ve hurt her! She´s refusing to return my calls and texts, all because you´ve humiliated her on-line for something she didn´t do.
Dallas:
You mean, you didn´t ...
Drew:
The answer is the same one I gave I you on the night of the party, when you wouldn´t listen either. All we did was feel one another up. That´s it.
Dallas starts to see what a mistake he´s made and looks apologetic.
Dallas:
Look, I´m sorry! What else do you want me to say?
Drew:
I´m not sure there´s anything you can say. We´d better get inside before we´re late, but if Alli breaks up with me today, then it´ll be your fault.
Dallas looks sorry for what he´s done, but Drew clearly still isn´t entirely ready to forgive him yet.
OPENING CREDITS
2. Int. Courtyard. Day.
Clare and Alli are trying to enjoy their break, but it´s hard for Alli to enjoy it since she feels like everyone out there is staring at her, even if they´re not.
Alli:
This feels just like after I pooped my pants back in kindergarten!
Clare raises an eyebrow at her strange analogy.
Clare:
How exactly?
Alli:
For weeks afterwards, there was snickering and some of the kids didn´t want to play with me anymore. They called me "Smelly Alli", Clare! It stuck with me all the way to the 3rd grade!
Clare tries her best not to laugh and stay serious.
Clare:
I´m sincerely sorry, that you had to experience that. As someone, who´s always been able to control my bowel movements, since I stopped wearing diapers, I can´t really relate though!
She can´t help herself from giggling a little, which only annoys Alli more.
Clare:
I´m sorry!
Alli:
It´s not funny!
Clare:
Everyone knows that half the stuff you read on Face Range is based on loose rumors, that have no basis in reality. That you should have had sex with Drew at some party is as ridiculous as it sounds.
Alli:
Maybe to you, because you know me. What about all of those people, who don´t know me and take it as fact? It was shared six times!
Clare:
Probably to the only six morons, who would be dumb enough to believe it!
Alli:
I don´t think you know, how quickly this stuff can spread. If my parents hear, they could pull me out of school and send me to an all girls school. It´s not like they haven´t discussed it before.
Clare:
Just try to relax, okay? Getting you head in a bunch over it won´t to solve anything.
Alli:
I know. The only thing I can do is break up with him and distance myself from it as much as I can.
She looks sad at the prospect of it.
3. Int. Hallway. Day.
Gracie and Jenna are laughing and goofing around, when Alli and Clare come over to them.
Jenna:
I think that you´re the one, who secretly wants to kiss Simpson!
Gracie:
Get real!
Clare:
What´s the topic we´re discussing?
Gracie:
Jenna has a crush on Simpson.
Jenna:
I don´t! All I said was that for guy his age, he´s not looking too bad!
Alli:
At least you guys have something to laugh at. That´s nice.
Gracie:
Are you still upset over what my idiot brother and his even dumber friend did?
Jenna:
I don´t know why you´re surprised.
The other three look at her blamingly for saying it out loud.
Clare:
It isn´t Alli´s fault what´s happened!
Jenna:
All I´m saying is that people are gonna talk, when you sneak off to make out with a guy at a party.
Alli:
That´s one thing, I´m never doing again!
She looks ready to deal with the consequences.
4. Int. Classroom. Day.
Dallas and Drew come into a classroom and are met by Marisol, who looks excited.
Marisol:
Have you heard who the newest member of the Power Squad is?
Dallas:
You are?
Marisol:
Yay!
She smiles from ear to ear, which makes Dallas smile too.
Drew:
Congrats.
Dallas:
I look forward to seeing you do your stuff!
Marisol:
Thanks, guys. This is so awesome!
She goes to take her seat next to Katie, while Drew and Dallas take seats a little away from them. Dallas can´t take his eyes off Marisol´s smiling face though. Drew looks suspiciously at Dallas.
Drew:
Did you have anything to do with it?
Dallas:
I may have called in a favor.
Drew sees what he´s doing and isn´t too approving of it. He leans in towards Dallas, so they can talk at at quieter volume.
Drew:
And the fact that the Power Squad and the football team go on away trips together and are known to attend many of the same parties is just a lucky coincidence?
Dallas:
Look how happy she is! What can be wrong with that?
Drew:
Nothing, if you were only doing it to be nice to her!
Dallas:
All is fair in love and war.
Drew:
What about Eli?
Dallas:
He has his own fan club, who would be more than happy to provide him with all the comfort, he needs.
Dallas nods towards Bianca, who´s talking to Imogen.
Drew:
Which one of them?
Dallas:
Bianca, dude! They spent nearly the entire party away from the rest of us "talking".
Drew:
You don´t know for sure, if anything happened between them.
Dallas:
Neither does Marisol and that´s what worries her. All they need is the last shove to push them over the edge and I´ll be glad to provide it for them.
Drew pulls away and shakes his head at him. Dallas doesn´t look like he´s feeling all that guilty over this though.
5. Int. Hallway. Day.
Bianca is waiting on a bench outside of the principal´s office and is reading a book for homework, while taking the occasional note. Dallas comes over to her and smiles at her in a friendly way.
Dallas:
Is there room for me on that bench?
She looks up at him and tries to judge what he´s playing at.
Bianca:
Promise you won´t fart?
Dallas laughs.
Dallas:
You have my word!
Bianca:
In that case, I guess, it´s okay.
She makes some room for him and he sits down next to her.
Dallas:
What do you have to talk to the principal about?
Bianca:
We have these monthly talks, where we discuss how I´m doing in class and socially. It´s part of the deal for me going here.
Dallas:
Do you tell her the truth?
Bianca:
When I feel like it! You?
Dallas:
I just felt like taking a load off with you.
Bianca laughs to herself, which makes him lose his cool.
Dallas:
Did I say anything funny?
Bianca:
I don´t know what you´re playing at, but you´re playing at something!
Dallas:
I´m not!
Bianca:
Come on, Dallas! We haven´t had five conversations all year so far and you just out of the blue decide to "take a load off with me"? Something smells fishy in Denmark!
Dallas:
I wanted to talk to you about Eli.
Bianca:
Ah, so that´s it! You want me to come between him and Marisol, so you can sweep in and get her while she´s vulnerable to suggestion! Very sneaky, but it´s not gonna work on me!
He stands up again and can´t help looking a little impressed.
Dallas:
How did you do that?
Bianca:
It´s easy. You and Marisol spent most of Katie´s party dancing and since guys like you always want what you can´t get, she´s become your latest obsession. You knew that me and Eli spent that time talking, so you think that it wouldn´t be that hard to convince an old ghetto girl like me, that you think is easy and sleeps around anyway, to have sex with him because he understands me and looks good. There´s only one thing you didn´t count on: I wasn´t born yesterday!
Dallas:
Obviously not!
He leaves her and she just shakes her head at his feeble attempt at manipulating her.
6. Int. Hallway. Day.
Imogen is getting a sip of water from the drinking fountain. Dallas, seeing the need for a new approach, comes over to her.
Dallas:
Don´t drink all of it! Leave a little for me.
She looks up at him and swallows, letting out a big "Ah", like a kid who doesn´t care what anyone thinks of them, before smiling at him. He smiles back at her.
Imogen:
I´m pretty sure there´s enough to spare for everyone!
Dallas:
That was a hell of a party at Katie´s house, wasn´t it?
Imogen:
I can´t remember the last time I went to a party, that was that much fun!
Dallas:
Then again, I´m guessing that you don´t get invited to a whole lot of parties?
Imogen:
Yeah, but it´s okay.
Dallas:
No, it isn´t!
She looks confused by his answer.
Imogen:
It´s not?
Dallas:
No! You´re fun to be around! A little weird and strange in some people´s opinion perhaps, but I think that you´re delightfully quirky! I´ll try to make sure, that you´re invited to more of them from now on.
Imogen looks glad. He knows that he has her on the hook already.
Imogen:
Thanks! That would be great!
Dallas:
Imogen, just between you and me, now that we´re starting to become friends here, what´s the deal with Bianca and Eli?
He smile fades and she looks unsure whether to tell him or not.
Imogen:
That´s really between them, don´t you think?
Dallas:
Alright, but everyone is saying that they had sex at that party!
Imogen:
They do? But they didn´t do anything!
Dallas:
That´s what I want to believe too, but you hear things and ...
Imogen:
She likes him, but she hasn´t done anything with him! If you hear anyone telling lies like that about her ...
Dallas:
I´ll set them straight, I promise!
Imogen looks worried.
Imogen:
Please don´t tell her that I told you, okay? I´m really not supposed to!
Dallas:
Don´t worry, Imogen! We´re pals now, right? We all only want what´s best for Bianca and Eli. I mean, with all they´ve gone through, stuff that I couldn´t imagine what it´s like having to live with ...
Imogen:
Me neither!
Dallas:
Both of them deserve all the happiness, they can get. Don´t you agree?
Imogen nods in agreement and is clearly up for suggestions. Dallas takes a sip of water from the water fountain and looks pleased.
7. Ext. Degrassi. Day.
Alli comes out from the school with Clare by her side. Drew is waiting there, hoping to get the chance to talk to her.
Drew:
Hi, Alli. Can we talk?
Alli:
I think, we have to.
Clare:
Do you want me to stay?
Alli:
No, this is only between me and him.
Clare:
Okay. See you tomorrow.
Clare walks away from them and Drew smiles nervously at her, but she looks away from his gaze.
Drew:
You haven´t contacted me back. I left a ton of messages.
Alli:
I know. I deleted all of them without listening to them.
Drew:
Are you that mad at me?
She finally looks him in the eyes, but it´s not a pleasant look, he gets.
Alli:
Drew, a rumor like this could follow me for the rest of high school. Not to mention what would happen, if my parents hear about it!
Drew:
Believe me, I understand! My mom would freak out too!
Alli:
Would she send you away to a different school, where you´re torn apart from your friends and would have to start from scratch?
Drew:
No, she wouldn´t.
Alli:
That´s what´s on the line for me here, Drew! Can you understand now, why I´m mad at you?
Drew:
It´s not my fault! It was Dallas ...
Alli:
It doesn´t matter, who said what, only the end result that we´re left with. That end result is that we can´t see each other anymore. It could have been great, but you blew it, Drew. Big time.
He closes his eyes and looks crushed, as she walks away from him.
8. Int. The Dot. Day.
Dallas is talking to Marisol, while Riley is keeping Katie occupied, when Drew comes in. He walks angrily over to where Dallas and Marisol are sitting.
Drew:
Dallas, we need to talk outside, now!
Dallas looks up at him and is a little annoyed that he´s ruining his chances with Marisol.
Dallas:
Can´t it wait?
Marisol:
That´s okay, Dallas. I don´t have to be anywhere for a while.
Dallas:
I promise that it won´t take long.
Dallas gets up as Drew stares at him angrily.
9. Ext. The Dot. Day.
Drew and Dallas are a little away from the other diners.
Drew:
I´m single now, thanks to you!
Dallas:
Don´t sweat it. We´ll find you someone else.
Drew:
I don´t want someone else. I want Alli back!
Dallas:
It´s you fault too for not being clear about it.
Drew:
What wasn´t I clear about, Dallas? You asked if we had done it and I said what?
Dallas:
You said that you hadn´t, but ...
Drew has to look away from him, which only makes him feel worse.
Dallas:
I just thought it was because you didn´t want everyone there to hear it, that you didn´t say yes. It was stupid of me to jump to my own conclusions, what can I say?
Drew:
I have to see you at football practice, but I don´t want to hang out with you after school or sit next to you in class anymore. At least for a while, until I´m done being angry with you.
Dallas:
Drew, come on! She´s just another girl!
Drew:
Not to me, she isn´t.
Drew storms away from him. Dallas looks frustrated with how it just went down.
10. Int. The Dot. Day.
Dallas takes his seat across from Marisol and tries to look like he´s okay.
Marisol:
What was that about?
Dallas:
I did something dumb and now he´s mad at me.
Marisol:
Like really mad?
Dallas:
Really mad!
Marisol:
I know what that´s like right now. Me and Eli had this stupid fight over me joining the Power Squad.
He tries not to look too pleased and has clearly forgotten about Drew already.
Dallas:
Sorry to hear that.
Marisol:
He has this idea that it´s going to tear us apart, but it won´t! Right?
Dallas:
Not if you´re strong enough as a couple. Are you?
Marisol:
Yeah!
He can see through her though and everything is clearly not okay, like she wants him to believe it is.
Marisol:
Although ... sometimes I wonder, if we are too different.
Dallas:
That isn´t something you´ve figured out by now? Sorry, it´s none of my business!
Marisol:
No, it´s okay. I used to see our differences as our biggest strength, but I´m worried that they´ll tear us apart. Maybe he would be better off with someone like Bianca, who´s more like he is. I only want what´s best for him and if that isn´t me, then I´ll step aside.
Dallas:
That´s a very noble thought.
Marisol:
I would do it, if that´s what it came down to. He´s done so much for me this past year, that I´ll do almost anything for him.
Dallas:
Even let him go free?
Marisol:
If that´s what it takes for him to come out sane and well at the other end of all these things, he´s still having to live through. I love him that much.
Clearly what Dallas heard was, that he has a chance with her and little else she said.
11. Int. Alli´s Room. Evening.
Alli is chilling out with Sav and they´re watching a Bollywood movie together on her small TV.
Alli:
Thanks for doing this. I know that Bollywood movies aren´t exactly your favorite.
Sav:
It´s my job as your older brother to cheer you up in times like these.
Alli:
You know that I didn´t go all the way with him, right?
Sav:
I never believed any of it for a second! I know you, Alli. You would never do anything as dumb as that.
Alli:
You´re not curious how far it went?
Sav:
It falls under things I don´t need to know!
Alli:
We didn´t really do anything. He felt me up on top of my bra, but that was it.
Sav turns his head to her and looks a little relieved.
Sav:
If that´s all you did, then you don´t have anything to be worried over.
Alli:
What if mom and dad find out?
Sav:
Then I guess we´ll have to tell them the truth, won´t we? Dad will be a little mad and mom will give you her "I´m so disappointed in you, that I can´t put it into words" look. After sitting through one of their customary speeches on morality and perhaps getting grounded for a few weeks, things will be back to normal. You´re still their perfect little girl, Alli. They can never really get mad at you.
She looks a little reassured.
Alli:
Not entirely perfect.
Sav:
No, but compared to what I had done at your age, you´re an angel.
Alli:
What about everyone at school?
Sav:
Loose rumors like yours go away, when enough other ones have come along to take it´s place in the common consciousness. You´ll be fine, Kiddo. Even if it doesn´t feel that way right now.
His pep talk clearly helped with her mood.
12. Int. Drew´s Room. Evening.
Drew is getting his butt kicked by Gracie in NBA 08, since his mind clearly isn´t in the game. Gracie scores a 3 pointer with the Lakers over his Knicks and is 20 points ahead of him now.
Drew:
I give up. My head isn´t in it today.
Gracie:
Because of Alli?
Drew:
When we first started going out, all I knew was that she seemed like a sweet girl and was your friend. She´s really something out of the ordinary, when you get to know her.
Gracie:
Welcome back to the club for miserable single people! The one club, that no one wants to be a member of!
Drew:
What about the "27 Club"?
Gracie:
It´s a fine club, if you wanna die young!
Drew:
Do you think, she´ll ever forgive me?
Gracie:
In time perhaps, but it won´t be for a while at least. What you and Dallas did hurt her deeply.
Drew:
You mean "What he did"?
Gracie:
Did you tell him so that he couldn´t misunderstand it, that you had only gotten to first base with her?
She looks to Drew, who has a hard time coming up with a good answer.
Drew:
It´s a guy thing! You wouldn´t understand!
Gracie:
This is your fault too, Drew. The sooner you start to realize that, the better chances you have, that Alli will forgive you.
He doesn´t like, but has to agree with her a little.
13. Int. The Dot. Evening.
Dallas is sitting at the counter with a drink and his dinner in front of him, wondering if it´s all worth it, with all this is costing him. He gets a text and checks his phone. The text he gets makes him smile and he texts back.
We see the screen of his phone and the texts that have been sent.
From Marisol:
Wanna hang out? Eli still doesn´t want to talk to me and Katie is busy with Riley
He texted back:
Come down to the Dot and we´ll talk
At that moment, he gets a text back:
Cool! I´ll be there in ten
We cut back to Dallas, who smiles to himself.
