Hi guys Azza here!
So its interesting what happens when you run out of stuff to do isn't it? I swear I've read just about every good fanfic in the genres I like and now I'm sad and starved for content. Lying in bed all day has more or less given me the ability to do two things. Read and write.
Without any good reading material my thoughts quickly turned back to here and so, with frequent breaks and a lot of unintentional naps (one of which landed my laptop on the floor making me freak out!) we have a double feature for you guys.
Now I'm fully expecting there to be errors I missed in here and I do apologize. Having frequent coughing fits and being really tired makes editing hard so if you guys spot any major issues please point them out to me!
Now then, I'm chucking these out there with the same thing I said last time. I won't provide a specific time for the next upload because I am still sick and tired but also hype for what's coming so I may simply persist but we'll see.
Anyway on with the story!
I do not own Fairy Tail, One Piece or the Nasuverse.
Pivotal Decisions And Meetings
/Grove 2 – Meeting Place/
"Brook, so glad you could get past the bloody blockade," Natsu sighed as the musician arrived in the small clearing where most of the crew had assembled. "Any sign of Zoro?"
"None I'm afraid," Brook sighed in response.
"The damn moss probably got lost," Sanji scoffed as he continued to toss a frying pan full of rice over a makeshift fire. "You all know he's next to useless when it comes to finding his way around."
"But of all the days to be like that," Nami sighed whilst shaking her head.
"Oi, any word from Seilah or Robin about Camie!?"
"Last report from them said that they've combed the dungeons beneath the Human Auction House and there's no sign of her," Natsu replied tiredly. "That being said we know she's certain to show up there since I have it on good authority that there will be a big time auction going down today."
"But don't the auctions go down every day though," Franky asked in confusion. "What makes today different?"
"You are correct Franky, auctions at the main house operate six days a week. However, today they will have three VIP's who would sooner reduce this island to dust than be denied a chance to bid on fresh slaves."
"Wait a sec, you're saying that there might be … Celestial Dragons there," Usopp asked shakily as the whole crew paused and looked directly at him.
"Right on the money, Usopp."
"But if Camie gets put up for auction and the Celestial Dragons are there then we won't stand a chance of saving her," Chopper cried out in concern as Natsu's gaze moved toward Hachi who had remained silent, his fists clenched as the reality of the situation sank in.
"Let me put it to you all this way, should Camie be bought by a Celestial Dragon then I will have no choice but to execute them."
"WH-WHAT," Hachi screeched as he bolted over to Natsu and grabbed him by the coat with all six arms. "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND!?"
"My apologies Hachi, I was unaware that you no longer cared for the rights of Camie-."
Everyone froze as Hachi punched Natsu across the left side of his face, panting heavily as he tried to reign in what little control he had left over himself.
"Don't you dare … don't you dare say something like that!"
"Then grow up and snap out of your pathetic delusions," Natsu snapped as he grabbed Hachi by the shirt and pulled the Fishman close. "You know better than the rest of these guys that if one of those bastards buys her then that is the only option we've got!"
"B-but if we attack them they'll call the full might of the military down upon Sabaody, let alone if you kill one of them!"
"I know," Natsu replied as he released the Fishman. "Which is why I'll do the right thing and buy you all time to bail."
"What the hell, you can't just tell us to run away and leave you to fight off an entire army by yourself," Nami snapped as Natsu's gazed moved to hover over the group.
"You haven't even recovered properly from all the brutal fights you had on Thriller Bark yet," Chopper added in sharply. "You said it yourself that at most you only have around sixty percent of your full power back!"
"But I'll have Seilah and Mordred with me, the three of us easily outclass the majority of the trash in the military."
"But not the Admirals, or these Generals everyone's been talking about lately," Brook added neutrally. "You are indeed powerful Natsu, but can you really fight off the full military might of the World Government?"
"You guys really are annoying, you know that," Mordred huffed in response to the group. "What other alternative is there? You all know what's gonna go down if we try and bust Camie out, don't even try and fucking deny it!"
"But-!"
"Besides, we aren't gonna be fighting them to the last or anything, just to buy you guys enough time to bail!"
"But still …"
"But what!? Grow up you sorry sacks of shit," Mordred shouted as she locked eyes with Luffy who had yet to make a single comment. "Fact is that you lot simply aren't ready to join us on something this dangerous so we're gonna do all we can to make sure you guys survive!"
"I don't like it," Luffy said as his eyes locked with Natsu's own. "You guys are part of the crew, part of our family. To leave you three to face something like that, even if we're outmatched, would be the same as betraying you."
"Didn't you listen to a word we just said," Mordred snapped as she moved to stalk over toward the teen. "Get it-!"
"Hold on a sec Mordred," Natsu said as he held his arm out to halt her in her tracks. "Remember what happened on Thriller Bark, Luffy? Remember how outmatched you guys were against Moria, against his Servants? Moria was a mere Warlord Of The Sea, as was Kuma. Do you believe for a second that the Admirals, the Generals and any Servants under their Command won't be as powerful, if not more so?"
"Stop coddling us," Luffy snapped as Natsu's eyes widened ever so slightly at Luffy's rather aggressive tone. "I get that you want to keep us safe and I more than anyone appreciate that since everyone in my crew are my family … But how the hell are we ever supposed to grow if you won't let us experience the world ourselves!"
"Words of a brat," Mordred scoffed. "Right Natsu? Natsu?"
Looking over at her Master, Mordred was surprised that he was seemingly stunned into silence, his gaze seemingly going far beyond Luffy into what she could only assume was his mind. Looking back over toward Luffy who currently stood with clenched fists and grit teeth, she slowly began to realize just why her Master had frozen up.
For the briefest of moments, a sliver of Aura had escaped the teen. This by itself wasn't something that would shock either Mordred or her Master, however it was the extra intent behind it that did.
Pure willpower had been shot toward Natsu in Luffy's outburst. Uncontrolled and clearly done subconsciously, Luffy had tried to impose his will upon Natsu in an attempt to shift his stance on the crew running away.
This was a skill Mordred indeed knew of, a skill her Father was capable of when push came to shove. Within this world however, the skill appeared to hold much more significance however as it could be projected on a physical level. Indeed, this was a skill meant for Kings such as King Arthur, Gilgamesh, Iskandar and even her own Master who was well on the road to becoming one in his own right.
'This kid,' Mordred thought to herself as she watched her Master's eyes slowly begin to show signs of activity. 'Sure, he wants to become King Of The Pirates but I mean come on …'
Natsu cleared his throat as many in the group felt themselves becoming more and more unnerved at the tense silence brought about by Luffy's outburst. Taking a deep breath before sighing, Natsu locked eyes with Luffy once more and shook his head.
"I'm sorry. I often forget what its like to be in positions such as yours, and how I reacted to incidents such as this. You are completely within your rights to choose your own paths of action and not conform to my every order."
Everyone seemed shocked by Natsu's reply, Mordred more than anyone as she noticed the slight droop in his posture.
"You are the Captain of this crew and ultimately, the destiny of yourself and its members falls into your hands Luffy. I must apologize for doing as I often have done. Ordering the lot of you about like pawns is not the role of a friend and ignoring your pleas and concerns certainly isn't fair either."
Everyone was now openly gaping at him, unable to comprehend what he'd just said. And his reaction to their shock only furthered it as he continued to give them an aged smile, one that felt more like that of a Grandparent rather than someone their own age. The only one unaffected by it was Brook who, to his credit, had moved to try his luck as getting first dibs on the food.
"U-uh …"
"Yes Luffy?"
"Um …"
"I got that bit," Natsu replied calmly as Luffy shook his head and slapped his cheeks just to make sure he wasn't imagining things.
"Uh … NOTHING! I guess we'll all be going to the auction together … right?"
"You're the Captain, Luffy," Natsu smiled as Mordred growled and grabbed a hold of his cheek, dragging him away from the group.
Pulling him well out of earshot of the crew, Mordred rounded on him and placed bother hands on either side of his face before getting up firmly into his own with a scowl.
"What the fuck was that!?"
"Huh?"
"Don't 'Huh' me! What was that back there, just giving Luffy his own way despite knowing full well what's probably gonna happen to them!?"
"Don't act like you didn't feel that Mordred," Natsu replied as he gently removed her hands. "Even if it was for but a brief moment, Luffy tried to blast me with the Colour of the Supreme King."
"I know, I felt his Conqueror's Haki the moment it escaped him," Mordred replied in a quieter tone. "But it was weak!"
"Perhaps. But the thing is Mordred, it was not coincidental."
"What are you on about?"
"Shanks asked me to accompany the boy, said he wanted to become the Pirate King. The threads of Fate are all over him and when he stared me down and challenged my decision to have them all run … I felt Lady Fate's threads tighten."
"Seriously …"
"I can feel it, Mordred," Natsu sighed as he looked up at the sky. "Something here is fated to happen, and all of the crew including us are in on it."
"Good or bad?"
"I can't tell, only that whatever comes from the events of today will influence events years from now."
"Damn," Mordred hissed as she bit her thumb. "If its that far reaching then its serious."
"Yeah."
"So what should we do if things go South at the auction now?"
"We'll still need to fight off the top brass regardless Mordred," Natsu replied instantly as he looked over to the group who had begun to dig into the food. "Fancy speech aside, none of them could likely even beat most of the Vice Admirals let alone the top brass or Servants."
"Right."
"We'll get through this, Mordred," Natsu said as he slung an arm around her shoulder and pulled her close. "We've gotten this far, right?"
"Our luck won't hold out forever, even with a man as powerful and intelligent as you."
Natsu frowned at Mordred's words but didn't respond. She was right of course, their luck would inevitably run out just like it did back in the Elemental Nations. They lost Jeanne, they lost Alice and worst of all they lost Nobu.
Eventually, another would be taken from him. He knew better than to deny what had become a pattern by this point. His hesitance to let any of the Straw Hats do anything too risky was his way of trying to shield them as best he could. But they were all Human at the end of the day, and Humans subconsciously craved free will above all else and would inevitably grow tired of the attempts at protection Natsu had tried to offer them.
He may not be back up to full power just yet however there was still time to prepare, time to make preparations for any worst-case scenario. He could already see countless ways today could go wrong and knew that if he didn't prepare, they might not all make it out of it unscathed.
/Elsewhere/
"Hm, could've sworn the meeting spot was right around here?"
"So we are lost then," Ritsuka sighed as the group stopped outside a nearby pub. "That snail thing is a communication device isn't it?"
"Yeah, so?"
"Maybe we should get a hold of one of your friends with it?"
"I'd love to do that but the thing is these ones are the small ones so they're one way."
"Ah …"
"Well surely we can find one that we can use somewhere, right," Mash asked prompting Zoro to shrug in response.
"I mean I wouldn't bet on it since most of the people here are Pirates."
Looking around the area the Chaldea team knew full well that Zoro was right. It mattered not which way they looked as all sorts of unsavoury types roamed about seemingly looking for trouble.
"Well … guess we should just keep looking the old-fashioned way, right," Ritsuka sighed as he turned around to begin walking down the street only to bump into a rather well-dressed man.
Ritsuka fell backward onto the ground in shock. The man felt like he just walked into one of the doors in Chaldea and didn't budge so much as an inch upon impact. Looking upward, Ritsuka couldn't surprises a gasp at the stern look the man was giving him as Zoro moved to stand in between them.
"Hm. You blind boy?"
"Uh … my apologies Sir," Ritsuka stuttered out as he scrambled to his feet. "I was lost in thought for a moment there and-!"
"Obviously," the man sighed as he shook his head. "You and the girl there I'm not familiar with, but you …"
Zoro tensed as the man's gaze bored into his own, the usually composed swordsman feeling something foreboding come crushing down upon him as if it were trying to force him to submit.
"You're one of the Straw Hat Pirates, Pirate Hunter Roronoa Zoro."
"Yeah, what's it to you?"
"At the present moment, everything," the man replied as Zoro placed a steady hand on his blade. "But lucky for you that there'll be no need for that, I'd call it the good kind of attention."
"Define your version of 'good' for me."
"Well," the man grinned as he took out a cigar and lit it up, making sure to blow the smoke away from the trio. "Maybe a certain pink haired member of your crew and his three lovely ladies made a deal with me, one that will lead to a rather fruitful relationship …"
"Did he now," Zoro replied curiously. "And what exactly is this 'deal' the two of you made?"
"He busts one of my boys out of the Human Auction House in exchange for an unspecified favour whenever he needs it. Naturally we'd also be inclined to an alliance of sorts as well, assuming Straw Hat Luffy is as open to the idea as our mutual friend was."
"That would depend entirely on who is offering the alliance," Zoro replied with a slight frown prompting the man to chuckle slightly.
"Well, let's just say that someone has to keep the Mafia families across this messy world in line. Sometimes things get a little … messy. Sometimes certain Dons get a little, how shall I say … ahead of themselves and try to ruin what we're building up here."
Zoro was frozen in place, immediately connecting the dots as to the identity of the man before them. It appeared the man noticed and grinned slightly in response, nodding to Zoro before speaking.
"Seems you've either remembered or kept up with the goings on in the Underworld, Pirate Hunter."
"Z-Zoro, who is this man," Mash asked shakily, clearly unnerved at the man who had Zoro sweating buckets.
"Ah, where are my manners," the man sighed before turning to face Ritsuka and Mash. "Don Salvatore Costello at your service."
"Don? As in a Mafia Crime Family Don?"
"The very same."
"Oh …"
"Earlier you mentioned that one of Zoro's crew members were breaking out one of your men from the Human Auction House, right," Ritsuka asked as Salvatore turned his gaze toward the seemingly unfazed smiling teen next to the young girl.
"That I did."
"You wouldn't happen to be heading there now, would you?"
"I am."
"W-well then," Ritsuka laughed as Salvatore raised an eyebrow at his rather carefree attitude. "Would we be able to tag along? Zoro wanted to take us to meet his crew but they wanted to meet up at Grove Two before heading over to the Human Auction House. Since we're already really late they've probably already headed on over there by now so we could go together, right!?"
Salvatore eyed the young teen curiously, inwardly admiring the bravery he showed to speak to someone like him so casually. However, his eyes quickly found the set of Command Seals embedded into his hand, his eyes widening so little it went entirely unnoticed.
"I guess that's fine," Salvatore replied with a nod. "No harm in travelling this shithole with company, right Pirate Hunter?"
"Y-yeah," Zoro sighed in relief as he inwardly fought off a panic attack.
"I look forward to meeting the rest of your crew," Salvatore continued with the slight smirk. "I must say, I'm a pretty big fan of you guys myself."
"Y-you are!?"
"Oh yeah. Can't remember the last time a crew has so blatantly given the Government the finger. It reminds me of when I was a young kid like you three."
The three quickly fell into step as Salvatore began to regale them with tales from his youth. To most, it was merely ramblings from an old man. But to those who knew better, Salvatore was passing on vital knowledge on how not to screw up the same way he did.
Fortunately for the trio all of them were indeed perceptive enough to heed any hidden advice given and eagerly absorb the history lesson.
/Back With The Crew/
"So, in spite of Zoro not showing up are we gonna head on over to the Auction House," Natsu asked as a majority of the crew nodded.
"I'm sure the moss will end up somehow getting there anyway," Sanji said dismissively. "Besides, losing him is our crew going from a hundred percent combat efficiency to ninety-nine point nine so we'll be alright regardless."
"Robin and Seilah are on standby to bust Camie out should shit get dicey in there. Robin managed to swipe a set of keys for the collars so as long as we make sure to cover any guards and other staff we shouldn't have much trouble breaking her out if push comes to shove."
"N-nyuu! Let's hope it doesn't come to that though, right!?"
"Hachi, we've been over this already," Natsu sighed as the octopus Fishman looked away. "The situation is so delicate there's almost zero chance of shit not going down."
"Can't you let a man dream Natsu …"
"I could, but then you'd probably freeze up at a critical moment or when shit does start going down and I'd rather have you jumpy and ready to go right off the bat."
"R-right …"
In truth, he was against the idea of Hachi going at all but knew that like the rest of the crew, the Fishman would be stubborn in trying to save the Mermaid. Of course he couldn't fault him, she was his friend and it was admirable that he wanted to do anything at all despite being quite literally forced to go up against something he vehemently feared.
"Unfortunately, that is just the way mortals roll Natsu," Ahnk sighed. "They fear literally everything that threatens their mortality yet are always the first to throw themselves into the fire to achieve their goals and aspirations."
"You're one to talk Ahnkseram," Aava scoffed as she poked him in the stomach since her human form was still far too short to reach his chest. "If I recall correctly weren't you the one who feared death so much so that he was willing to split himself in half just so he could avoid the eyes of the Councils and go into hiding, eventually going on to possess Zeref and try to take a shot at sicking my predecessor onto them only to kill him at his weakest?"
"Big words for someone who barely comes up past my stomach. Hey, how's the weather down there shorty?"
Aava's face went beet red as she coated her right fist in Apocalypse Magic and punch him right in the gut.
"I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW I AM THE PERFECT HEIGHT FOR MY AGE GROUP! IN FACT MOST DRAGONS MY AGE DON'T EVEN HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR HUMAN FORM SO-SO YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS!"
"Jealous," Ahnk snorted in response. "I'm not jealous of some brat trying her best gothic Lolita impression!"
"Y-y-you just called me a Lolita, didn't you!"
"Yeah I did, so what!"
It was at this point Natsu rolled his eyes externally and went inside his mindscape to defuse the argument between the pair. In truth, Aava had adopted a Gothic Lolita style wearing a black and Aqua Blue dress that went down to her knees. To his amusement she wore fishnet stockings and Aqua Blue high heels.
He had little doubt that she had taken inspiration from his memory of Rory Mercury since in her words Achnologia dressed like a barbarian and she was nothing like him. A fair point however he had to concede that she did look adorable, not that he would say it to her aloud in fear of a beating.
Teenagers were violent creatures after all.
"Alright, knock it off you two," Natsu sighed as he walked into the duo beating each other senseless. "I need both of you fully prepared in case shit hits the fan!"
"Daddy!"
Natsu froze as Aava immediately separated from her brawl and ran toward him with her arms wide, teary eyed and the most adorable face she could muster. Feeling his heart stop from cuteness overload, Natsu autopiloted her arrival as he picked her up and swung her around before placing her back down in front of her.
"A-Ahnkseram is bullying me again! Can we purge him?"
"Uh …"
"If anyone is getting purged around here then it's you, brat!"
"Daddy …"
Natsu inwardly cringed. She'd seen how Wendy manipulated him and had put her actions to good use, mimicking them almost to perfection as she began the sad pouting and on the verge of crying routine.
"Look … Aava, Ahnk's here to stay, as are you."
The immediate one eighty to her personality always caught him off guard as her eyes narrowed and her pout transformed into a sadistic smirk. Rounding on Ahnk, her hands transformed into her claws as she began raking them against one another making sharpening sounds.
"Oh well, I suppose he'll just need to receive daily punishment for existing within the same space as me."
"No beating up Ahnk," Natsu said firmly prompting Aava to groan and return her claws into hands. "I need him for his knowledge."
"Oh, well thanks for that NATSU! And here I thought we were friends, basically Brothers now if I remember what you said correctly!"
"Well yeah, that's there too."
"Oof, that's so brutal. Just dismiss the second part like that!"
"All of these hijinks aside I need to ask you guys something," Natsu sighed as the pair shot each other one last glare before looking over at him. "Power sources. Aava, how is yours going?"
"I mean you basically cleaned me out as soon as I woke up Dad, but I'm recuperating at a decent pace. I'm at about forty percent I think."
"Forty percent … that's rough."
"Your Second Origin is completely full though," Ahnk chimed in quickly. "We prioritized that first over your main core."
"I see …"
"So long as we don't get another Alucard, Beast or Titan pop up we should be fine for the most part."
"Ugh, now you've gone and jinxed us you idiot," Aava snapped prompting Ahnk to splutter in response. "Everyone knows if you say something along the lines of something not happening then it'll likely happen!"
"Yeah well … well only kids say that!"
"I know you are but what am I!"
"Kids say that too!"
"ENOUGH!"
Both residents of his mindscape fell silent at his rather frustrated shout, clearly realizing that Natsu wasn't in the mood for their arguments anymore.
"Can't you two just get along for once, we're all stuck together!"
"But Ahnk's mean … and balding!"
"I AM NOT BALDING AND ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE I'LL RIP THEM APART TO LESS THAN ATOMS-!"
"Look … I need you two, as my anchors within this madness," Natsu sighed as both denizens turned toward him again. "I'm prone to making mistakes and even now by sitting back and letting Luffy do whatever he wants to do … I'm probably gonna need your support. So when you guys fight, I feel like blocking you out entirely and that means I'm stuck with just my own thoughts to mull around and we all know where that leads …"
"I swear you'd better not fragment your mind again," Ahnkseram snapped only for Aava to elbow him in the side.
"W-we're sorry, Dad. I know Ahnkseram and I fight but we were once sworn enemies and its hard to forget that, even if I'm a reincarnation I still have all the memories."
"She's right. We're petty toward each other because we've been that way for so long, we never really conceived doing otherwise."
"Well … admitting that, it's a start," Natsu sighed as he slowly withdrew from his mind. "Please try to get along, I don't need the headache considering what we're about to do."
He received two affirmative replies from his two friends as he exited his mindscape, returning to find the group getting ready to head out to the Auction House. Sighing, he stood up and walked over to them, preparing himself for what was undoubtedly going to be an absolute mess of a day.
/Human Auction House – Slave Cells/
"NOOOOOOO! I WON'T WEAR IT! I WON'T! I WON'T! I WON'T!"
"Hold still you little bitch," a rather fancily dressed man snarled as he tried to fit a slave collar over a familiar green haired teen. "I can't afford to rough you up too much otherwise your price will drop!"
"I DON'T CARE," the girl screeched as she pushed back against the collar. "I WON'T LET YOU PUT THAT ON ME!"
"You'll shut your little mouth and do as I say," the man snapped as two rather large guards closed in behind her. "This auction is being broadcast to over five hundred kingdoms worldwide and I'm not about to let some bratty Mermaid screw it all up!"
The two guards grabbed the now identified Mermaid who simply thrashed about even harder. After being taken from Sabaody Park, Camie had indeed found herself in one of the worst places imaginable.
"I DON'T CARE! YOU JUST WAIT, HACHI WILL BEAT YOU UP AND YOU'LL BE SORRY YOU WERE EVER BORN!"
The man sneered as Camie spat at him and descended upon her with more force than before. Camie continued to thrash about wildly as the man got closer and closer to securing the collar around her neck. As she felt the cold metal touch her neck, Camie began to screech, prompting the man to cringe but move to secure it.
"This is it you little shit-!"
Just as the man was about to secure it, a momentary pressure smashed into his senses with everything going white. The man gasped as his eyes rolled into the back of his head, falling unconscious as the two guards dropped Camie and scrambled to check on the man.
"DISCO!"
"SIR!"
The guards continued to shout frantically over what had happened whilst also calling for medical aid for the man however Camie simply sat there in shock. One moment she was quite literally feeling her freedom being stripped from her and the next the vile creep was out cold and the collar tossed to the side.
Looking around in confusion, Camie had no clue that she had in fact been saved and that her would be saviour was much closer than she'd ever truly know.
Inside a cage near Camie, an absolute behemoth of a humanoid sat watching the entire situation with a pitying gaze. He knew full well that, despite the man being knocked out and the girl being spared, it was only temporary.
The girl was worth more than everyone else here combined and it was only a matter of time before the slavers tried forcing a new collar onto her. It didn't matter if it was willingly or not, the girl would be shackled like the rest.
His eyes quickly left the girl, shifting over toward the seat to his right. Looking downward there was an elderly man wearing rather shabby clothes, his glasses glinting in the dim light to mask his full expression.
The massive humanoid grumbled and shifted in his seat before sighing and clearing his throat. As if expecting this, the old man sat up slightly, a small smile etching its way onto his face.
"Oi, old man? Don't try and play it off," the massive humanoid said as the man's grin widened slightly. "That Haki just now, that was you … that Conqueror's Haki."
"Heh. And just what makes you think it was me, Giant?"
"Don't play dumb, I'm not from the first half of the Grand Line like most of the people here. I'm from Elbaf, I know Conqueror's Haki when I see it."
"Is that right," the old man replied as he reached into his coat and pulled out a metal flask and took a sip. "Ah … nothing beats sake, especially when you didn't pay a single cent for it."
"You clearly shouldn't be here," the Giant replied as the man took another sip. "Just who the hell are you?"
"Me," the man replied with a grin as he leant forward into the light so the Giant could get a better look at him, revealing two momentary glowing Blood Red eyes. "I'm just a man who coats ships …"
