The screen began to bubble and boil as the familiar silver door rose from it's depths, the thick purple chains corroding and breaking apart as the door opened up and bathed everything in dark purple.
From the tainted light, came a single red eye that glared at the screen before the door slammed shut and everything became static, a crumbling rose symbol appearing every so often as the title began to form.
The Ruinverse: Chapter Thirty One, Black King EXE.

-Remnant, Somewhere in Anima-
"Caw!"
"Caw!"
A flock of crows flew across the darkened forest, the camera following after them as the sky was pitch black except for the small amount of visible stars.
However, as the camera moved deeper and deeper into the forest, a small dilapidated base, one used for military use, appeared in the distance, a small sign sticking out of the dirt filled forest floor that read 'Garin Technologies Weapon Works, Private Property of the Mantleian Military. Trespassers will be shot on sight'.
Moving away from the broken barbed fence and going down the rust covered stairs towards the basement, the sound of clacking and the loud muttering of a man obsessed with his work was heard, the large room filled with the decaying remains of conveyor belts and long obsolete technology echoed with the man's angry tyranid to no one.
"Damn brat, thinking she could boss me around just because she gained a 'magical' source of energy. But she neglects the fact she only gained HALF of the maiden's power, losing the other to the so-called 'legendary Huntsmen' Qrow Branwen. Bah, if she was any more intelligent, she would've just killed the maiden on the side of the road instead of gloating like some second hand saturday morning villain, the filler character to be exact!" yelled a tall slim semi tan skinned man with short blackish gray hair, a thick black mustache and eyebrows, green eyes, wearing a gray overcoat with yellow lining, a yellow dress shirt, a gray yellow buttoned undercoat, a black necktie, gray fingerless gloves with eight yellow four rings with a black inner layer between the outer edges on his index, middle, ring and pinky fingers, gray pants, yellow socks and gray cordovan shoes, as he walked around the room, typing on his Scroll like a madman.
This was Arthur Watts, distressed Atlesian scientist, inventor of the Paladin-290, and member of Salem's inner circle.
And currently, he was being forced, by Salem 'precious' Fall Maiden, in name only, to create a specialized virus to infiltrate and control Vale's CCT System.
The problem, of course, was that he had other things to do besides making a simple virus, such as learning the inner workings of 'magic', the study of the Grimm, and the repurposing of Mantleian technology for his own plans. For him, a virus was below his standards and not worth creating, especially for an arrogant orphan like Cinder fucking Fall.
"I have so many plans and projects to complete, yet she takes time out of MY life to just gloat about a failure? What an idiot? Did that shock collar destroy all her neurons or was she just dropped as a baby?" he frowned while taking a deep breath. "Keep it together Watts, it's an easy task. You can just finish it in time for Fall's infiltration. Just breathe."
As he looked at his Scroll, he heard the rumble of a distant storm, which he ignored in favor of checking the virus' current state.
"Let's see. Technological mainframe deletion, check. Firewall suppression, check. It looks….wait." he muttered before noticing that the virus wasn't properly coded with a system 'rejuvenation' aka any recent malware software. "Crap, I knew I forgot something." 'Can't have it getting hacked by someone else or worse, deleted before it's added to the CCT.'
Rumble.
Rumble.
"Well, I better get started then." he muttered while clicking on an icon called 'System Testing', just as the rumbling outside became louder and louder with each passing second. "Now to wait and…wait? Two hours!? Ugh, I really should've done this beforehand."
RUMBLE!
RUMBLE!
As the man stroked the left side of his mustache with his left hand, rain began to fall outside the factory, thunder rang across the sky before-
ZAP!
BOOOOM!
"AHHHHHHHH!"
The man was struck by a large bolt of lightning, his body developing intense third degree burns in the process as his body seemed to glow a deep red color.
"AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
A bright flash of blue and red lights illuminated the room, blinding the screen for a moment before revealing an empty room.
And all that remained, was a single black Scroll, cracked and sparkling with electricity as the scientist was….nowhere to be found.
(Elsewhere)
-Unknown location-
Darkness, a black void, that was all that existed within this unknown space. However, after a while….thick blue lines formed from the darkness, creating a grid-like network in the process.
And floating in the center of this strange void, was Arthur Watts, his body seemingly metallic in nature and semi angular in some places, as he looked confused and rather in distress, given he was just struck by a bolt of lightning moments ago.
"Where am I!? What is this place…oh gods, I'm dead! I'm dead, I just know it!" he yelled while clutching his hair with both hands. "No one can survive a direct strike from lightning!"
As he continued to, rightly, panic at his current situation, he noticed three strange things nearby that caused him to stop his insistent screaming.
One, a large black open trash can-like icon floating around the void, consuming small green cubes that floated nearby.
Two, several white folders floating in a single row that had various titles such as 'Vale', 'Vauco', 'Mistral', 'Atlas', 'Mantle', and 'Kuo Kuana'.
And three, a single glowing blue word simply titled 'Cross Continental Transmit System' floating right in front of the man, who's eyes widened in realization.
"I'm…in a virtual…reality." he muttered while feeling both amazed and curious, mostly curious as no living person, human or faunus, has ever attempted to enter or explore a virtual reality, as it is deemed impossible by the scientific community.
Yet now…he was in a realm full of data, numerous possibilities exclusive to this incorporeal reality.
And for this man of science, it was a dream come true.
"Yes, the potential of this realm. Ha ha!" he laughed while noticing his hands glowing red, then it clicked in his head. "Wait, the bolt of lighting. It somehow…turned me into pure energy. But how, that is impossible unless…..oh." 'A semblance…my semblance did this.'
As he came to terms with his current situation, made less nerve racking due to his intelligent mind, he began to ponder the possibilities of his new energy form, the limitations, the strengths and the projects he could accomplish in this realm, where time had no meaning and exhaustion was a foreign concept.
"This...is brilliant. I'm the first ever instance of a purely energized humanoid, and in here." he smirked while his eyes glowed red for a moment. "I am a god, a god of pure data. One that can never die."
And then a thought hit him like a sledgehammer.
Why should he follow Salem anymore?
He was a genius, a man driven by science instead of the old arcane forces of Salem's day. Out in the real 'world', he was nothing compared to the immortal sorceress, but in here, in this place outside the limitations of physics, he was a match, neigh, a superior lifeform to the Queen of Grimm and her one note lackeys.
Plus, in his eyes, he was more than worthy of the title as 'god', he had the power, the mind and the drive to rule over the world, and possibly create new forms of life that didn't need anything special like personalities or flaws.
Just pure, cold, logic.
"Yes, why waste time with the Relics, when I have the entire CCT at the palm of my hands, the entire military weapons of the Kingdoms, and even all the accounts of Ozpin's precious Huntsmen. All of them are here to exploit, adapt and control." he smirked before looking at his human form, growing disgusted by its flaws, its…a reminder of a world that flaunted his intelligence and considered him 'second best'. "But first, I need to change, upgrade myself into something…more fitting of a god."
The deep red energy formed around his body before red data glitched around him, crystallizing into a large circular ball in the process.
Crack.
Crack.
SHATTER!
And lo, from the broken data 'ball', surrounded by red data-like tendrils was a tall slim pale gray skinned humanoid with thick metallic angular black hair that curved to the sides and formed a horn shaped crown, a narrow metallic angular black mustache that zigzagged down to the neckline, dull black eyes that seemed to spark with electrical power, long scythe-like claws, a single triangular white crystal attached to the lower torso by thick black chains of energy near a gray circular band, and covered in thick black metallic armor that seemed to glow with dark red energy.
The being smirked while moving his claws, electricity forming around the joints as they looked upon the 'CCTS' logo. "It is time for me, Black King EXE, to take my rightful place as god. But first."
SWIZZZZZ!
Instantly, the tendrils began to latch onto the folders and icons, infecting them with black glitches as a king chess piece formed in the center of each.
"I must subjugate every system, every corner of this world, to my will."

-Anima, Mistral, Haven Academy-
Within the cliffside city, covered in fog from the early morning dew….
ZAP!
BOOOM!
It was chaos as red lighting formed from every electronic device, either turning the screens red, blowing them up, or causing the electronic devices to fail at crucial moments.
No place was safe, hospitals, refrigerators, Scrolls, security systems, nothing was safe from this mysterious wave of destruction and chaos.
As the camera zoomed closer to the Huntsmen school, two bodies were found in various spots along the walls and inner chambers.
The first, located right near the back exit, was a completely fried faunus, its long tail jerking at irregular intervals as its body was fried by an Electric Dust powered CCTS controlled air conditioning unit.
And the second, located within one of the student dorms, was a woman, whose body was unmoving within her chair, her eyes oozing out from the sockets as a Scroll in her right hand sparked and exploded, starting a small fire in the process.
There were two examples of the chaotic death of this city, and, unbeknownst to all, a single black king chess piece formed on one of the damaged Scroll's screens, a faint cackle forming from it's speakers.
"This is just a test run. Soon, I will have my forces, and then I shall eliminate them both." the voice said as red lighting hit the screen, causing it to turn black as the laughter became louder and louder. "AHAHAHAHAHAHA! All hail the Black King EXE!"
