The Ruinverse Chapter 54- Illusion's Overdose, a rwby fanfic

The screen began to bubble and boil as the familiar silver door rose from it's depths, the thick purple chains corroding and breaking apart as the door opened up and bathed everything in dark purple.

From the tainted light, came a single red eye that glared at the screen before the door slammed shut and everything became static, a crumbling rose symbol appearing every so often as the title began to form.

The Ruinverse: Chapter Fifty Four, Illusion's Overdose.

-Remnant, Sanus, Vale, Vytal, Amity Coliseum-

BAM!

Kicks and punches, mortal enemies of battle.

This was the sight that onlookers witnessed as the brawler of Vale, Yang Xiao Long, faced down the mysterious bloke, Mercury Black, during the third match of the 70th Vytal Festival, each of the spectators hoping for a winner of this exciting round between Huntsmen in training.

POW!

BAM!

Blow after blow collides with their target, each one trying to break the aura of the other in order to cause the 'perfect knockout blow'.

BAM!

BAM!

However, as Yang moved in for an uppercut to the face, she momentarily blinked and….found herself in a dark misty forest with her opponent nowhere in sight.

"Eh? What the…where the hell am I!?" she yelled to no one as she turned her head to look for anything familiar, even an exit.

Yet all she could find was mist and pine, overshadowed slightly by the soft yet frozen breeze that passed through her long hair.

"Ok….this is creepy." she muttered while feeling slightly ajar, given she was just in the mists of battle and now she was in a forest somewhere in Remnant that looked suspiciously like Patch, if it somehow was more foreboding and in the middle of winter. "Kinda terrifying really…but I need to get out of here. I have a match to win."

Wooosh.

As the 'Y' of Team RWBY began to walk deeper into the woods, she felt like she was going around in circles, always appearing in the same exact spot she appeared in before.

And it was making her increasingly agitated.

One path went the same as the other, around and around and around and around AND AROUND AND AROUND AND AROUND!

Madness! This forest was madness! How big was this forest and how long was she in this forest anyway!?

"GAH! Ok, this is starting to get old, why am I still in this EXACT spot!?" she yelled in frustration, her eyes turning bright red. "And why am I even here!?"

"Grrrrrrr."

Yang's ears perked slightly as she heard the unmistakable growl of a Grimm, causing her to turn to the left and run towards the source, her weapons, Ember Celica, at the ready.

Moving quickly on her feet, through the deep mists, the blonde noticed that the thick line of trees were beginning to loosen up its grip, slowly revealing a tall seaside cliff overlooking the ocean.

SPLASH!

"Grrrrrr!"

"Ah." gasped a….familiar voice as a pair of Beowolves moved closer to the figure, teeth bared for the attack.

Yang's eyes widened in horror as she saw….her adoptive mother, Summer Rose, being cornered by the Grimm, her weapon nowhere to be seen and the cliffside slowly giving way to their weights. "No…this…this isn't possible!" 'She can't be here…no! I…I can't…'

"Grrrrrr!"

CRUNCH!

And in a split second, Summer Rose's neck was broken by the powerful jaws of the Grimm, killing her instantly as the others of its pack began to swarm towards the carcass, consuming the body like ravenous lions.

All in front of a stunned and enraged Yang, whose eyes glowed with rage as her body trembled, memories of a tombstone flashing through her head as she started to see nothing but hate.

Hate for the Grimm. Hate for the loss of her mother. Hate for the foul being that spawned these monsters….she hated them. Hated them. HATED THEM!

"AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

The lead Beowolf turned and saw the enraged Huntress, her body covered in a yellow aura, charging towards the pack, breaking each one of their necks with her fists as she lunged towards the Grimm and tacked them off the cliffside towards the sea below.

POW!

"DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!" she roared with fury as the Grimm's 'mask' began to crack from the gauntlet's hard exterior, black ooze splattering all over the woman's face and clothes like crushed tomatoes.

POW!

CRUNCH!

As the protective bone gave way to the Grimm's internal structure, the world began to form strange green glitch-like patterns, wrapping space around the two before everything…..changed.

For in place of an incoming sea was the Amity Stadium itself, in place of mist were the horrified onlookers and….

In place of the Beowolf was the unresponsive Mercury, his face repeatedly punched by the enraged and bloodsoaked Yang as she used her aura infused fists to cave in his skull.

CRACK!

"DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!" she yelled in fury while chunks of brain matter coated her gauntlets.

CRACK!

Panting heavily, the blonde brawler stopped her attack and slowly stood up, hearing the loud screams all around her as she narrowed her eyes.

"More Grimm? Fuck that!" She growled while running towards the right side of the stadium, using her weapons to give herself lift as she slammed her fist into the ground, breaking a man's skull in the process before punching the civilians and Huntsmen left and right like a wild animal. "Die you Grimm fuckers!"

"AHHHH!"

"MADWOMAN!"

"RUN AWAY!"

"YANG STOP!" yelled Ruby while trying to run towards her sister, only to be grabbed by Weiss and dragged away by Blake. "GUYS! WE NEED TO-"

"Not now! We need to get the civilians to safety!" Weiss yelled while using her glyphs to give herself super speed, which she used to quickly grab anyone caught in the mad torrent of scared humans and faunus.

Emerald groaned in pain while looking horrified at what she just did. 'What the…how!? She was supposed to hit his legs not kill him! How did this get-wait, shit!'

POW!

SQUISH!

And like that, her stomach was punched through by Yang's left fist, killing her instantly as her aura faded away.

"DEATH TO THE GRIMM!" she roared, a hint of green aura flickering slightly in her eyes as the screen faded to black.

-Above the Valeian Skyline, KA Grimm Reaper, Brig-

Clank!

Darkness covered the formerly white cell, small cyan light dotting the floor and ceiling as Yang, currently unarmed and restrained by silver handcuffs on her wrists and ankles, sat alone in the shadows.

Her only crime, killing Grimm. She was only doing her duty yet the monsters locked her up in a ceil above the clouds.

This wasn't right and she knew it….yet she couldn't get out of her restraints, no matter how much she tried fidgeting her wrists.

"Grrr. Let me out!" she yelled in frustration, her mind racing to find a way out of this cell and a way to return to the surface. "Let me out!"

BANG!

Hitting her head against the metal wall behind her, she struggled and tried her best to find a weakness in the structure, her arms hitting the walls to her left and right as the metal cuffs were scratched and dented in her manic struggle.

Yet she was stuck, like an escape artist in chains.

Panting heavily after a few fruitless attempts at freedom, she laid on her back, the walls rather uncomfortable for one her height, and stared at the cyan lights.

"Ah…ah..ah…fuck…stupid Grimm. How did they get so intelligent?" she muttered to herself. "Just how?"

"Because they took everything." spoke a voice from Yang's left ear, that seemed rather…familiar to her. "They ate the bones and stuffed themselves in their skins."

Her eyes widened as she stood up, turning her head to the left as Summer Rose sat next to her. "M-Mom!? But-"

"Hush. We have no time for chat." she said with a serious tone in her voice. "The Grimm have taken over, every skin they wear holds the soul of their victims. You must free them."

"But how!? How did this happen!?"

"No time. You must free them, break the bonds of mercy." Summer said while Yang's eyes flashed green for a moment. "Cast them aside for the mission. Kill the Grimm, save the souls."

As the blonde's mind began to slip between her duty as a Huntress and her need to rationalize her situation, Summer's eyes changed from silver to green instantly before turning back to normal.

"Kill them Yang, do it for mom." she said while Yang's eyes flashed red and in a moment of adrenaline.

CRACK!

SNAP!

She destroyed the cuffs on her wrists, allowing her to pull the chain off of the cuffs on her legs, before repeatedly punching the door in front of her.

BAM!

POW!

And in a few blows, each punch causing her knuckles to bleed, the steel door went flying off its hinges, alarms blaring in the background as she was bathed in bright red lights.

"Alert! Alert! Cell 751203 has been compromised! Prisoner 751203KA has escaped! I repeat! Prisoner 751203KA has escaped!"

"I will kill the Grimm." Yang said in a cold tone, her eyes slightly glazed over as she turned her head towards the elevator. "I will kill them all mom, I promise you that much."

BEEP!

As the blonde ran towards the only means of escape, the camera focused on a lone cell labeled 'Cell 274761453', where, peering through the small glass window, its occupant looked on with confusion and concern.

"Wait? Was that the cell number for the muscle brained brawler?" muttered criminal 'mastermind' Roman Torchwick as he sat in his cell, the sounds of warning alarms ringing in his ears. "I know she actually killed a guy, one of Cinder's little brats, but damn. She got out after ten minutes of being locked in a cell? What are the odds?"

BEEP!

"Welp….either this would work in that bitches favor or it will get us all killed. In either case, I just hope Neo gets me out of here soon." He muttered with a hint of fear as the red lights began to bathe the screen with its tint. "I'd rather not be in this cell once she destroys the controls….which is kinda likely given her pension for destruction." 'And her ridiculous strength too.'

Bio: In this timeline, during the Vytal Festival, the match between Yang Xiao Long and Mercury Black occured as normal, each one putting on a good show for the crowd. However, when Yang went in for the final blow, Emerald utilized her semblance, Hallucinations, to place the brawler into an illusion, but unlike her canon depiction, she used too much of her own aura and instead of causing Yang to see herself in a battle, it 'transported' her into a forest covered in Grimm, where she witnessed the death of her adoptive mother, Summer Rose, over and over again, causing the girl to snap in fury and turned the 'Grimm' into a bloody pulp, never realizing that the 'Grimm' she had just killed was really Mercury, whose skull was caved in by her deadly punches, on live tv no less. This uproar of fear and terror caused the woman, now permently entranced within the illusion even after Emerald disengaged it, rushed towards and brutally killed a vast majority of the crowd attending the festival, including members of her own school, before being arrested by the Valeian Police and the Atlasian Military for her 'crimes'. Now seeing everyone around her as the Creatures of Grimm, Yang's mind slipped from the grasp of reality and into the embrace of fantasy, where she is the only human in a world of Grimm, causing her to break out of her holding cell in pursuit of killing 'Grimm' for her 'mom'. This, unfortunately, led to her being the catalyst for a destructive rampage through Vale before being gunned down by Atlas' Atlesian Knights, a turning point in the behavior of Huntsmen going forwards that will one day lead to shutting off all emotions to prevent another 'Xiao Long Massacure', yet even when Yang's soul leaves the mortal world, the Kingdom of Vale is destroyed completely by the Grimm, sensing the complete terror and fear made by the madwoman. In a way, Cinder Fall's plans did work, but not in the way anyone expected.
