The screen began to bubble and boil as the familiar silver door rose from it's depths, the thick purple chains corroding and breaking apart as the door opened up and bathed everything in dark purple.

From the tainted light, came a single red eye that glared at the screen before the door slammed shut and everything became static, a crumbling rose symbol appearing every so often as the title began to form.

The Ruinverse: Chapter Fifty Eight, Insecure Insanity.

-Remnant, Sanus, Vale, Beacon Academy-

The moon illuminated the skyline of Beacon as the green hues of the rooftops shimmered in the light, the lights of the CCTS tower glowing brightly as on a nearby balcony, two figures stood near each other.

The first figure was a tall semi muscular fair skinned girl with long red hair that was tied into a waist-length ponytail which curled slightly into a loose ringlet, green eyes with light green eyeshadow around the far upper corners, a bronze circlet with thin bronze chains adorned with small green teardrop-shaped emeralds under her hair, a D cup chest and small ass, wearing a long sleeved gold lined brown jacket, a tan vest, white shirt, a red ribbon tied at the collar, a short red plaid skirt, black tights and brown heeled shoes, whose expression was a mix of concern and worry.

The second person, closest to the balcony's edge, was a tall semi muscular fair skinned young boy with short blond hair, dark blue eyes with heavy bags, dark circles around his eyes, wearing a long sleeved gold lined black suit, a blue vest, a white shirt, a red tie, black pants and black sneakers, whose face was filled with…..worry, concern, fear and nervousness all rolled into one 'mask' of semi emotionless detachment to the world at large.

This was Pyrrha Nikos and Jaune Arc, members of Team JNPR….well, formerly that is. But at this point in time, all past events don't matter, the only thing that does matter is their conversation.

One that will either break them to their core or bring them closer as friends.

"I can always be a farmer or something…" Jaune mitered while Pyrrha, horrified at the idea of him jumping to his doom, quickly pulled him away from the edge.

"N-N-No! That's not why I brought you up here!" she yelled while tightening her grip on his arms. "Jaune, I know you're having a difficult time…given the incident."

Jaune looked away while knowing what she was saying, but kept silent.

"But I don't want you to fall down this path."

"..."

"Jaune, talk to me!"

"..."

"Please, I want to help you!"

"...I can't." he said while looking at his feet. "I don't need help."

"Jaune, I know it hurts. It really does." she said while loosening her grip on the boy, allowing him to move a few feet. "But hurting yourself like this will not bring Nora back."

"...I know, but I led her into that forest." he said while feverishly rubbing his arms, his eyes becoming bloodshot. "I told her to go in….I told her…."

"Jaune, snap out of it!"

As the boy kept on rubbing his arms, not caring if his arms began to bleed or scratched by his nails, he felt the world becoming dull…quiet as Pyrrha's voice began to be drowned out by his own memories.

Memories of his first mission into the Emerald Forest, to get a simple flag…..to get a flag….yet, oh gods…he caused it.

He ordered her into the forest, alone, not knowing about the pack of sleeping Ursai until it was too late.

So many Grimm….thirty at a time…oh gods….he should've sent Ren in to scout…no, that wouldn't change the outcome.

He…He failed them, he killed his team before it could even begin.

Even now, he and the others of the now labeled 'Team JP_R' would be 'shipped' back to their homes, their families….what would they say? How would they react to 'the boy that killed his own team'?

Oh gods, he was a failure, he was a fraud….he was nothing….nothing…nothing.

'Maybe it would be better if I never came to Beacon?' he thought to himself as the sound of static rang in his ears.

"Jaune, you need to calm down, this isn't like you. You are [worthless]." Pyrrha said while Jaune felt a pang in his heart. "You are a [weak] and [imperfect] student. You [brought dishonor] to your family coming to Beacon and I really want you to [wilt] into a [failure]."

The blonde flitched as the champion of Mistral continued to talk to him, her words starting to become malicious and cold with every second that passed. 'Why is she so mean? Is she…letting out her frustrations on me now? Like all the others?'

"You [are worthless], a [failure] to all. Please, [confess your sins]." Pyrrha said as purple glitches formed around her face, distorting her face until it became obscured by a pitch black darkness that threatened to absorb the light around him like a black hole. "I want to [make you crawl like a bug!]."

'Gods….I….I can't do this.' he thought while his breath became frantic and heavy, the memories of his actions leading up to this point flashing in his eyes. 'I can't….I can't! I can't!'

"Jaune? Jaune, are you there? Talk to me." she said while the static ringing echoes in his ears, making it hard to differentiate any form of sound except for his own manic thoughts. "Jaune?"

"I can't take it!" he yelled while clutching his head with both hands, quickly moving back and towards the edge. "I can't take it!"

"Jaune!? What are you doing!? [Jump already! JUMP!]."

"Stop! Stop! STOP!" he yelled while Pyrrha felt the raw emotions in his screams. "Stop! I will tell you, just stop!"

"Tell me [now!]"

"I lied! I LIED!" he yelled as Pyrrha's 'face' seemed to fluctuate between a blank expressionless void and an unnatural grin, her mouth extending beyond the norm of human physiology and revealing a set of razor sharp fangs in place of normal teeth. "I lied myself into Beacon Academy! I falsified the transcripts and I never trained! I NEVER TRAINED!"

"[Yes. Confess! Confess Jaune! Confess everything!]."

"I don't belong here! I was wrong to even try, I failed! I FAILED!" he screamed while clawing at his face, blood dripping from his cheeks as Pyrrha's 'face' started to acquire deep white eyes that curved upwards like crescent moons….like the Arc emblem.

"[More! Tell me more!] Jaune! [Confess now!]"

"I ran away from my family, they wanted me to be normal, I wanted to be the hero! But I'm NOT!" he cried out while blood dripped upon the ground, Pyrrha moving closer to him with a 'grin' plastered on her face. "G-Get away!"

"Jaune. [I thought you liked me? I thought I was your partner?]." she said with a low chuckle. "Please, [don't make me laugh! You are a miserable pile of shit, a loser that can never become a hero like me! Give up, and go home! I don't need a coward that lets their team die! I don't need a joke of a man like you!]."

Jaune felt his blood run cold as a dark laughter rang in his ears, growing louder and louder with each passing moment as he kept seeing people laughing at him, jeering at him with hate in their eyes.

"Loser!"

"A vomit boy to the end!"

"A dolt that can never get the girl."

"Idiotic leader."

"Murderer!"

"The queen demands your head!" yelled the mangled corpse of Nora Valkyrie, floating right next to her former leader as her rotting skull hung precariously on her stump of a neck. "Give it up!"

"Stop! STOP! STOP! STOP!"

"[We will never stop! We will never let the sins of your life go, we will mock you, hurt you, laugh at you. We will be there until the day you die!]." Pyrrha cackled as her jaw began to salivate black ooze, revealing several claw-like arms that threatened to reach out and strangle the blonde there and now. "[You are nothing but a liar! A failure! And I will make sure you suffer forever! HahahahahahahahahahahAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!]."

Fear filled the eyes of the teen as he felt trapped between the edge of the balcony and the hateful words of his own partner, the world slowly becoming dark like a tunnel as he tried to find a way out of this endless nightmare.

"[I'm coming Jaune! I'M COMING!]." she grinned before moving right towards him.

"N-N-N-NOOOO!" He screamed before in an instant, he grabbed her and-

Wooosh!

Threw her off the balcony, the girl continuing to laugh as she fell from the rooftops until-

CRASH!

She collided with the ground, silencing the laughter as Jaune panted, hanging against the rail and catching his breath.

"Ah….ah…."

The static began to fade along with the laughter and jeers, the world becoming clearer as he felt the warm blood dripping onto his hands.

"Ah…it's…gone? Ah….what?" he muttered before slowly realizing what he had just done and stood straight up. "Pyrrha!"

Looking down towards the ground…..he saw something that would haunt him to the end of his days.

The body of Pyrrha Nikos, champion of Mistral….laying unmoving on the stone pavement below, her body broken from the fall as blood dripped from her mouth.

"H-How!? Just HOW!? Her aura should've saved her!?" he yelled before realizing something that he neglected to account for.

When he grabbed Pyrrha and threw her off the balcony, he caused her to bash her neck against the railing, breaking the vertebrae before she even made it to the ground.

He…He had used his strength, the one he neglected to use effectively in training, in a moment of fearful adrenaline…..to kill his partner…..to kill the only one he thought was perfect.

She was there for him, even when he reported his botched mission to the headmaster, she was there for him, caring for his well being.

And….he killed her.

He….killed….her…..

He. Killed. Her.

HE KILLED HER!

"A…AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Jaune screamed in anguish, his nails digging into his eyes as blood oozed out of the sockets, his mind set for self-flagellation for the deed he had committed. "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

The moon shone from the rooftops, the screams of anguish and self hate echoing across the wind as all of Beacon's staff and students woke from their sleep, before slowly being covered in dark clouds that filled the screen with darkness.

"[You killed me, Jaune, you failure.]" whispered the spectral voice of Pyrrha as everything went silent.

Bio: In this timeline, the history of Remnant is more or less similar to the canon RWBYverse timeline, with very little details and factors being out of place or disturbed at all…..except for one tiny little thing. Cardin Winchester was never born. While this one 'hiccup' in the fabric of reality would lead to positive changes such as Velvet Scarlatina's rise in confidence, for one Jaune Arc, his life would be drastically changed for the worse as without Cardin's excessive bullying driving the boy's personal growth as both a Hunter and a decent human being, the only son of the Arc family would never learn to push himself forwards or find a silver lining to his own personal troubles, the weight of his own personal fears and insecurities would only grow and grow until it consumed him entirely. Unable to grow as a person or take his training seriously, he would time and time again avoid his partner, Pyrrha Nikos' training, avoid others' attempts to train him and, after a botched training mission that caused the death of Nora Valkyrie, allow his own fear 'bloom' into a self loathing insanity. Thinking everything was his fault and never finding any self worth in himself, he began to view himself as a failure undeserving of his position in Beacon or the partner he knows only views him as 'weak'. This downwards spiral culminated one day when Pyrrha, worried about her partner's mental health, confronted him about Jaune's personal demons, but, in the heat of the moment, his mind began to play tricks on him, warping his senses to 'paint' an image of Pyrrha laughing at him for his 'failures'. Wanting the 'laughter' to end, he pushed Pyrrha off a balcony, the sudden fall killing her instantly as he cried in horror, for he allowed his base fears to ruin his life and killed the only person that ever cared for him. In a way, he created a self fulfilling prophecy of his own making….and all because a bully didn't do his job.
