The screen began to bubble and boil as the familiar silver door rose from it's depths, the thick purple chains corroding and breaking apart as the door opened up and bathed everything in dark purple.
From the tainted light, came a single red eye that glared at the screen before the door slammed shut and everything became static, a crumbling rose symbol appearing every so often as the title began to form.
The Ruinverse: Chapter Seventy One, I Wish for Falsehood.

-Remnant, Sanus, Patch-
The moon shone above the pine wood forest as the sounds of distant Beowolves howled in the distance, the wind gently brushing against the pine needles and letting them fall onto the forest floor.
Russle.
Russle.
Yet.
Russle.
SNAP!
Something broke the tranquil calm as tree branches and sticks snapped underfoot, a shadowy figure walking through the underbrush in a semi confused manner.
Russle.
Russle.
Trigs snapped underfoot as the figure moved deeper and deeper into the woods, the faint ray of moonlight illuminating the figure as they went, revealing a short fair skinned young girl with long matted black hair that went down to her feet and sported red tips, silver eyes with white vein-like lines on the sides, a C cup chest and small ass, wearing a tattered long sleeved brown cloak that trailed down to her feet, a tattered long sleeved black shirt that looked three sizes too big and went down to her hips, ripped black socks and worn down gray shoes, in the process as she seemed distressed and hungry.
GROWL!
"Hungry." the girl groaned while holding her stomach in pain. "So…hungry…need food."
As she moved through the forest in search of a possible meal, the girl began to recall how she got into this strange situation in the first place.
For she was the last living human of a small tribe of wandering nomads from Anima, a group that hunted the Grimm and, a rarity for her species, were able to cook the foul meat-like fresh off them for nutrition. Yet, even with that knowledge and unique survival skill, she was unable to stop her tribe from attacking a sleeping Wyvern, near the forbidden peak of Mount Glenn, which led to the complete destruction of her friends and loved ones in a single afternoon.
Orphaned and alone at age eleven, she spent the better part of four years wandering the Sanus continent, hunting and killing small Grimm species to survive in this dark world. For her, she was an outcast in a world ruled by Grimm, bloodthirsty tribes and clans of faunus that chose to live away from the normal human societies in fear of persecution, as she tried her best to protect herself from the world that seemed out to destroy her.
Yet, she had hope. Hope for a future where everyone could come together and unite under a single banner, just like in the stories told to her by her mother. Of ancient kingdoms that could pierce the sky, grand vehicles that traveled across the sea, heroes who defeated the Grimm time and time again….all these things gave her hope, and hope was what drove her into this dark forest in the middle of the vast ocean.
"It has to be here…ugh, so hungry." she muttered while walking past a row of elderberry bushes, her stomach growling louder than a bear's angry roar. "Mom said it was here." 'It has to be.'
As she moved towards a small rocky creek, memories filled the young girl's mind, each one telling a story from long ago as her feet made small ripples on the clear fresh water's surface.
Tales of talking Grimm, legends of twin gods, failed romances between wizards and witches, and many others that survived in this bleak world through oral communication, dispute said communication being limited by both societal separation and the inevitability of gradually dying populations.
But two legends stuck out in the sea of long forgotten history, the Tale of Saalua the Silver and the Magic Lantern.
The Tale of Saalua the Silver, a retelling of a long forgotten deity who stole children, created war, rebelled against the gods and brought forth an age of evil to Remnant, all by the oral word. A story told by adults to keep their children well behaved and less likely to do evil, nothing more, nothing less.
The Magic Lantern, an uplifting myth telling of a mystical lantern that could burn away the Grimm and grant one three wishes of their choices, yet with a cost. Those that found the lantern never returned to verify their findings.
The second oral folktale, for the young girl, always interested her, made her feel like the world could be saved if she located that relic of a bygone age of heroes.
Yet how could she find it? The story mentioned that it always vanished upon the final wish, so where could she logically find it?
Well, on her way to this island, though limited word of mouth from passing humans, the lantern was last seen somewhere in the Sanus continent, and this was the last part of the continent she hasn't been to yet.
"It has to be here." she muttered while noticing several trout swimming past her legs, causing her to try and grab one of them and missing each time. "Gah! Come on! I'm hungry!"
GROWL!
"So hungry!"
Splash!
Splash!
Splash!
"Aw come on!" she huffed while the trout kept on escaping her grasp. "Let me catch you!"
Splash!
Splash!
Splash!
Clang!
"Yeow!" The girl cried out in pain before shaking her hands, only to notice something shimmering in the water as she pulled it out of the water. "What…the?"
And lo, in the light of the moonlight, was a dark gold lamp with a cracked blue orb in its center, the girl's left hand holding its hoop-like ring as it dangled a little from the sudden remerging from the creek's depths.
"What is this…thing?" she muttered while cocking her head to the side. "It looks like an earring…for a very tall giant?" 'Or maybe even a belly piercing? Like…big sis had.'
Looking upon the lamp with confusion, given she has never seen a lamp this ornate before in her life as per her limited exposure to such treasures, the girl felt…drawn to it, that she should keep it and treasure it with her life.
'But why should I keep it? It's just….a very big earring. It's not useful for hunting, well maybe to bash someone's head in but….why should I keep it?' she muttered to herself while turning the lamp around. 'And it's not a lantern either. They are much smaller and…wait? Is that an inscription?'
As she squinted her eyes and moved the lamp a little closer to her, she noticed that a portion of the handle's base had scratch marks etched into it along with…something unknown to her, a possible language from a more distant civilization perhaps.
"I can't read it." she muttered in disappointment. "At all…but I think it's Valeian? Maybe? Mmmmm….wait, I can read a little of it."
The lamp's circular core glowed a faint purple color as the girl tried to decipher the inception, having some difficulty as she wasn't taught much about certain 'dead' languages, given her nomadic lifestyle.
"J…J…? Yeah, J….J…I?" she muttered while not seeing the glowing light, her eyes focused on the inscription. "Ji…Ji…oh. Jinn. Huh, just a name…kinda boring."
WOOOOSH!
The girl blinked while seeing dark purple smoke billowing outwards from the lamp, the world becoming a pure whitish black void as the smoke rose higher and higher into the sky, which caused the girl to drop the lamp right onto the now ice-like water.
RUMBLE!
RUMBLE!
ZAP!
Streaks of black lighting fired across the thundering smoke, terrifying the orphaned girl as smoke began to solidify and take on a more recognizable shape.
"Ah…ah…ah…" the girl gasped out in shock as an extremely tall naked dark purple skinned woman with long flowing dark purple hair that trailed down to her feet, bright golden eyes with a dark gold iris, long pointed ears with dark gold hoop earrings on each earlobe, a J cup chest and massive ass, eight long semi metallic arms attached to her shoulder blades, dark purple nails, wearing a dark gold headdress made of interlocking chains, a dark gold choker with crisscrossing dark gold chains wrapping around the sides of her chest and around the exposed stomach, dark gold bracelets on her upper forearms that allowed dark gold chains to hang from the lower ends, dark gold cuffs with dark gold chains going down and wrapping around her legs like serpents, a dark gold belt made of chains wrapped around her waist and held together by a three pronged ring on the left side, dark gold anklets, and a dark purple wisp-like skirt composed out of smoke going down her legs and towards the ground like a trail, formed from the smoke, glowing brightly as she stared down at the human like she was a common ant. "Ah…ah….ah..." 'W-WHAT!?'
"Mmmm, wonderful." the giant woman said with a smirk. "What knowledge do you seek? What desires do you need answered?"
"W…What….who….?"
"Heh heh." she chuckled while watching the girl stumble backwards in shock. "A simple question that is worth answering. I am Jinn, the spirit of the lamp you hold, and I create wishes."
"...lamp?" the girl muttered while looking at the object on the 'frozen' water. "But isn't that an earring?"
Jinn chuckled at that while shaking her head. "An earring? How quaint. No, it's a lamp, a beacon of hope."
"Wait…you mean the Magic Lantern? That's the Magic Lantern!?"
"...yes." she said while her many arms crossed under her breasts at once. "And with my powers, all your dreams can come true. But, I can only do it three times, so make them count."
"Then I wish for food!"
Jinn shook her head while chuckling at the girl's innocent nature. "I do not create or destroy, I give you knowledge. Wishes are just a fancy way of saying the answers of the present and past, anything you can imagine, I can provide for you, young Ruby Branwen."
"How-"
"I know all and see all." she said while the now named Ruby Branwen blinked in surprise…yet shook her head a little as her eyes momentarily glowed purple. "And tell all to those with the lamp."
'Branwen? But…it was Ro…mmm…what was it again?' she thought to herself as Jinn moved closer to her, now the size of a normal person, and tapped her right shoulder with her lower right hand.
"Now, tell me the questions that need answered, young Ruby?"
"...well." Ruby said while cocking her head to the side, trying to let that momentarily confusion subside in favor of getting her 'wishes'. "I kinda want to know how to save the world. Just how can I unite the people in Remnant?"
"Very well." Jinn said with a bow, her hands raised outwards as purple smoke billowed from the palms. "To unite the world, one must travel it, live in the estates of power and profess yourself as a witch."
Ruby blinked in confusion as the purple smoke seemed to inch closer to her shadow, the fog-like substance seeping into the darkness while Jinn continued her conversation.
"By granting yourself the honor of witchdom, one shall unite the warring clans of humans and faunus, for only a witch shall bring order to this world." Jinn said with a smile.
"A…witch? Well…that might work." 'I think? I mean witches are bad right….right?'
"It will work, I promise you that child." the floating spirit said while rubbing her four left index fingers against Ruby's face. "Now, you have two left. Make them count."
"Oh right." Ruby said with a flustered expression. "Um….how exactly did the world become so…bleak? I know mom said it was from a war but I don't exactly know the details."
"Ah, an interesting question. The war, as your mother so called it, was one where the humans and faunus of the world decided to fight over territories." she said while Ruby's shadow began to stretch outwards and deform slightly. "They were powerful, mighty and strong. Their armies were grander than the Grimm themselves, their kings taller than the mightiest trees, stronger than the mightiest storm and the leader of both sides was named Oz, who played both sides for his own game."
Ruby's eyes widened in shock as her shadow began to bend upwards, growing taller and taller with every passing second, while two strange 'branches' formed at the base of the darkness. "Oh, gods…this Oz…he did all of this!? Oh, gods!"
"Yes, with power and might, he played the factions of species and brought ruin to this world." she said with a smirk, an unnatural smirk that briefly showed her serrated fangs. "A sad fate for your world, since the great tyrant Oz used his own soul to corrupt the land, making it inhospitable to all life sans the Grimm."
'Wait, but how? If that was possible then the trees….plants…ugh….' the girl groaned as her eyes glowed purple, her mind becoming hazy as Jinn floated in front of the girl and placed her right elbows over her crossed left leg. 'Can't…recall…'
"Yet with your aid, the world shall heal and life shall return to Remnant." the spirit said while Ruby felt….confused.
For didn't the woman contradict herself….right?
'My head….huh? What was I thinking about again?'
"Now, dear child." Jinn said while the shadows began to twist and bend, becoming more and more tangible with every word the woman spoke. "Your final wish."
"Oh. Um…." Ruby muttered while the shadows behind her inched closer and closer to her body. "Ah! Will I become a mom as well? Please tell me!"
"A mom. You shall indeed become a mother, one blessed with three children. One shall be called Fa, another will be called La, and the last will be named Se." Jinn said as the shadows solidified into a massive shadowy giant with gleaming purple armor, a purple cloaked hag with blackened nails and three shadowy children with purple eyes, all poised to attack her. "Yet happiness will fall short, as is the way of the world."
"Eh?"
"As your life will last long and."
The hairs on the back of Ruby's neck stood on end as something grabbed her arms and began pulling her towards the ground, where she discovered the shadowy figures as they began attacking her in a frenzy, the hag and children pulling at her clothes while the giant raised its left foot upwards.
"Oh GODS!"
"Prosperous." Jinn chuckled as the giant's foot quickly moved towards the now terrified girl, her eyes and tongue being ripped out by the other four figures.
CRUNCH!
The spirit chuckled while blood and bone splattered against her face, the shadows quickly vanishing into the ground, leaving a massive footprint where Ruby Branwen once stood. "A very short but prosperous life it was. Heh heh."
As the world began to return to its normal colors, the lamp began to float in the air and turn a dark purple color.
"Now." Jinn said with a cold yet malicious grin, her form fading away into smoke as it entered the lamp. "Time to find more souls to help."
FLASH!
And in a blinding flash of purple, everything went black, a dark cackle looming in the background before-
POOF!
CRUNCH!
"I hope you enjoy that tale, because I live to please you, observers of the dark." Jinn said, her jaw now unhinged to reveal millions of rows of serrated fangs, a long tongue licking against the screen as her arms gripped the edges, allowing small cracks to form. "And now, I bid you all farewell….hehehehehehe~"
CRACK!
The screen shattered into pieces as the white void of static blanketed everything….yet the spirit was nowhere to be found.

Bio: In this timeline, during the period between Ozma's second reincarnation and his Infinity Man incarnation, Salem discovered the location of the Relic of Knowledge and sought it out to find a way to end her own existence. Locating one of Ozma's faithful 'companions', she captured and tortured the companion into giving her access to the Relic of Knowledge, asking the spirit, Jinn, three questions. These questions being 'Will my plans succeed?', 'How can I defeat Ozma and end him?', and 'Are my daughters happy in death?'. The spirit answered truthfully that her plans will fail in the future, Ozma will die but not by her hands, and that her daughters are miserable seeing their mother and father trying to kill each other like animals. But these answers only drove the woman to madness, seeing Jinn as a false spirit and, forcing the lamp's owner into the deed, used her black magic in tangent with the owner's semblance, Bréagach, which can instill false and unbelievable ideals into people's minds, to transform the spirit from a being of truth and light into the embodiment of falsehood and darkness. However, the combination of magic and aura caused a backlash that froze Salem in crystal for the better half of a millenia, allowing Jinn, originally loyal to Salem, to become a free agent and began causing chaos in Remnant itself, spreading lies and falsehoods that would come to life and kill the one asking for 'answers', which is now three questions every hour instead of every thousand years. Through her actions, she caused humanity and the faunus to fall into near extinction through her lies, gleefully happy at her own twisted 'duty' as she fractured and divided both species into separate yet isolated fates decided by her words. In a way, it proves that she deserves the title of Spirit of Falsehoods.
