The screen began to bubble and boil as the familiar silver door rose from it's depths, the thick purple chains corroding and breaking apart as the door opened up and bathed everything in dark purple.

From the tainted light, came a single red eye that glared at the screen before the door slammed shut and everything became static, a crumbling rose symbol appearing every so often as the title began to form.

The Ruinverse: Chapter Seventy Eight, Viral Existence.

-Remnant, Soltias, Atlas, Atlas Academy, Atlas Vault-

Within the dark caverns of inner Atlas, surrounded by dark blue pillars of crystals and housing the massive rectangular doorway, beyond which a meadow of flowers soaked in the rays of the bright afternoon sun, a cloud of cyan smoke seemed to dissipate from a particular spot near the entrance way.

Yet from within the entranceway itself, Team RWBY, seemed to be in awe at the sight, the Relic of Creation in their leader's hands, as the smoke finally disappeared to reveal…two interesting sights.

The first being their friend, Penny Polendina, now a little…more human and barefoot for some reason, who seemed slightly out of it on the crystalline ladened floor.

And the second being…well…her other half.

That being a short fair skinned young girl with long curly orange hair that went down to her shoulder blades and curled inwards at the tips, a long ahoge on top of the head, a black fabric bow, a metallic pink bow with golden outlining and a green power emblem on the center, small freckles, bright red eyes, a C cup chest and wide ass, black spray paint on the palms of her hands, wearing a sleeveless olive green dirndl that went down to her hips with a black hem along with emerald green stripes on the skirt, a black bodice with four golden buttons on the shoulder straps, gold buckles, a long sleeved off white puffy shouldered blouse with frilled flared cuffs and vertical black lining down the front center, a black ribbon with a golden lined power emblem in its center around her neck, a silver backpack, black lacy cuffed gloves with golden studs on the knuckles, black metallic thigh high leg pieces with a green stripe on the sides and two gold lined green circles on the top and bottom of them, black low heeled metal boots, who seemed to be unresponsive yet staring at the Huntresses with unblinking eyes, static forming around the eyes and joints every so often.

"Penny?" Ruby called out with worry as her best friend began to blink, open her eyes and began inspecting herself as she attempted to get up.

ZAP!

Only to see her robotic half and flinch slightly, her emotions becoming more realistic with every passing second of being 'human', only for her best friend to place a hand on her shoulder.

"Are you okay?"

Penny smiled and was about to speak when-

SQUISH!

She found herself impaled by a robotic right arm, blood dripping from the hole in her chest as the robotic half, having stood up in a relatively quick amount of time, glared at the now human girl with a mixture of 'frustration' and 'paranoia'.

"PENNY!" Ruby cried out in horror as her team gasped in shock and disbelief at the sight they just witnessed, Blake internally cursing herself for not reacting quick enough.

"I am the real girl, not you." the android said with a harsh cold tone before pulling out Penny's heart and crushed it in a single motion. "There can be only one Penny."

"Ah…a…h…" she gasped out before falling on the floor, the light blue energy the girl once obtained from the Winter Maiden entering her robotic copy's core and quickly causing the android to cry out in pain, black glitch-like boxes forming from the irises.

"AAAAHH! Overload! OVERLOAD!"

"Ruby, move back!" Yang yelled while Ruby stood there in shock and horror, her body trembling in disbelief as she failed to realize that the android version of her now deceased friend had just taken the Relic of Creation from her hands.

'No…No…NO!'

SQUISH!

ZAP!

"AAAH!" the android cried out while stabbing herself with the relic's tip, light blue and cyan bolts of lightning zapping the ground as the spirit, Ambrosius appeared once more, but with burn marks on his face.

"YEOW! Ok, who di…not you again and what just happened?"

"Spirit!" the android yelled while her left eye began to crack, streams of green coolant oozing from her lips. "I need your assistance, no, your help!"

"Don't listen to her!" Weiss yelled. "She killed Penny-"

"I am the real Penny!" the android snapped back. "The other one was an imposter! A model that wanted to replace me!"

"Mmmm, sorry." Ambrosius said with a shrug. "Rules are rules. Now, what exactly do you want?"

"I want a new body!"

"But I just gav-"

"I want a body that can never die!" the android interrupted while parts of her arms started to combust into flame from internal damage. "One that can evolve with time! One that can never be undone! I want to live! I want to live!"

"Mmmmm, it sounds a little bland. But that sort of job needs a lot of power." he said before noticing the staff was embedded in the android's chest. "Wait a second, you're not thinking-"

"I already calculated the power needed for such a body, and I will use this staff and the Winter Maiden's unique 'soul' 'magic' to power that body." 'Penny' said while giving the spirit a glare. "And I will not be denied this case again! I have died twice! Been reassembled twice! Nearly DIED by TWO Maidens! I MADE Ruby CRY! JUST GIVE ME THE BODY! I WANT TO EXIST! I WANT TO EXIST!"

BAM!

"Penny' groaned while getting punched in the face by Yang's robotic arm, breaking her entire right eye in the process as the blonde brawler tried to pull the staff out of her chest.

"Oh no you're not! We need it to evacuate Mantle and Atlas!"

The android cracked its neck, green coolant oozing from the eye as she stared at Ambrosius. "The plan will fail. The Schnee will make a mistake, I will NOT make a mistake! Give me the power to save this city! To live and serve my function! I want to live!"

"...very well." the spirit sighed while cracking his knuckles. "While it pains me to do it, her idea is logical. Plus it's just an upgrade, nothing major." 'Although I'll be stuck in there for a while…oh well, I can wait it out until someone beats her.'

"NO!" Weiss yelled as the spirit snapped his fingers, vanishing in a puff of smoke as the android became coated in a deep cyan storm cloud, lighting zapping every which way as Ruby just stood there…horrified.

'NOOOOOOOO!' Ruby thought to herself as her eyes began to dim, her hopes and dreams for a bright future…gone in an instant.

(Elsewhere)

-Atlas Command Center, Prison Room-

"What do you mean it was her decision!? I'm her father!" Jacques yelled while Winter turned to walk away, ignoring her father's inability to learn. "I have a majority vote in her life!"

As he grumbled to himself at his particular fate, he heard a loud boom outside the facility and noticed something outside the nearby window.

A tiny streak of gold flying around the sky, sending beams of light blue energy in every direction.

BOOOOOOOM!

BOOOOOOOM!

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

Resulting in explosive clouds of energy, each one shaped like a mushroom, that sent shockwaves in every direction, breaking glass and cracking the Hard-Light Dust cubes he was currently in.

"What in blazes!?" he yelled in shock as the golden streak seemed to stop in midair and moved right towards the window. "SHIT!"

CRASH!

BOOOOOM!

Glass shattered upon the ground as cracks formed along all of the cubes, disabling many but allowing a small amount to retain their functions, as a small dust cloud formed near the Gele's prison.

Clank.

Clank.

Clank.

'Just what is going on? Is it that Salem woman!? Oh gods, please don't let it be that insane faunus! PLEASE don't let it be that maniac with a jetpack!' Jacques thought while a figure moved towards the 'glass'.

That being a short fair skinned young girl with long curly orange hair that went down to her shoulder blades and curled inwards at the tips, a long ahoge on top of the head, small freckles, bright red eyes covered by a thick dark gray 'M' shaped visor, a D cup chest and wide ass, light blue nails, wearing a slim dark gold bodysuit with light blue lines running around the neck and sides, fingerless gray gloves with dark gold metal points on the knuckles, a light blue backpack with dark gold lining, dark gold lined red circles on her shoulders, upper hips and back, a dark red circle with a single light blue orb on the neck, long thin interlocking triangular skirt-like points around the waist and slim thigh high dark gold low heeled metallic boots with red soles, who seemed to be agitated for some reason.

"Wait a second, you're that android!"

"It's Penny." she said coldly before her right arm transformed into a dark cold arm cannon and aimed it at the former CEO. "And you are a threat to Atla's peace."

His eyes widened in horror as he backed away. "Please don't! I-"

KABOOM!

Hot blue plasma fired through the Hard Light Dust and collided with the human's body, quickly vaporizing him until nothing but atomic particles were left within the now deactivated cell.

"Jacques Schnee. Terminated." she said before firing a bigger blast of plasma at the adjacent cell, causing it to explode into atomic particles. "General James Ironwood. Terminated. Goal alignment, changed. New mission objective: Stop Atlas from falling."

Wooooooooosssssshhhh!

Crimson fire erupted from 'Penny's' soles as she flew out of the building, leaving a burning inferno in her wake.

WOOOOOOSSSSSHHHH!

As the blur flew past the city limits, over the now massive crater where the mountains of Solitas once stood along with its monstrous occupants, the android quickly saw the still plummeting island moving towards Mantle, threatening the complete destruction of all residing within the crater and its sister city.

"Calculating the best solution for the current situation." 'Penny' muttered out loud before raising her hands outwards. "Solution: Creation of stationary pillars. Commencing plan Beta Delta Omega Iota."

BAM!

WOOOSH!

In an instant, several dark gold rectangular pillars erupted from her fingertips, moving in a zigzag motion towards the base of Atlas, thick light blue 'gel' oozing from the ends and quickly glued themselves to the metal and stone as 'Penny' circled around the crater below, allowing her fingers to fall off and become the base of the pillars.

'Penny' looked upon the now stable city as her fingers 'grew' back, her eyes scanning the pillars for any signs of impurities or degradation from the sudden gravitational backlash. "...complete. Everything appears stable."

Smiling to herself, she flew towards the center of Atlas, where to her surprise, a large crowd of people, who happened to be panicking about their city falling out of the sky just moments ago in their houses, were giving her rather…nasty glares.

"Don't worry citizens! I have saved the day." she said with a chipper tone, although she realized that something…didn't feel right.

"Look! It's that killer from the election!"

"Why is she still here!?"

"Did she just say she saved it!? Save it HOW!?"

"By getting rid of Ironwood and stopping the city from falling." 'Penny' said while not understanding why they seemed…gungho about an election, one that she was innocent of said murders. "No need to thank me."

"Thank you!? You KILLED a member of the council! You KILLED innocent people!" yelled one of the more elite men of Atlas as he pointed at the android. "And you expect us to THANK YOU!? You're nuts!"

"She's just a robot, nothing more!"

"A killer! Disassemble her!"

"Destroy the monster!"

'Penny' stared at the encroaching crowd, her mind racing with conflicted questions of her own situation.

Why did they hate her?

Why are they mean to her?

Why consider her a monster when she saved their lives?

Why should they decide her existence for her?

Why are they attacking their protector?

'Why? Why? Why!?' she thought while the crowd began grabbing nearby rubble. 'Why are they so illogical!?'

But as the crowd moved closer, a sudden thought entered her mind.

If they don't see her as a hero, why not make them see her as one?

"..."

"Break the android!" yelled one of the men before throwing a rock at her.

BOOOM!

Only for both the rock and the man to be disintegrated by blue plasma, along with an entire row of humans and faunus that stretched all the way to a nearby skyscraper, causing the crowd to stop moving and turn towards the destruction.

"New mission." 'Penny' said while her right arm cannon produced more plasma, her eyes glowing bright red as several hundred light blue sword constructions appeared behind her like a circular halo. "Make Atlas see me as a hero. And for that, I shall become your queen!"

BOOOM!

"AAAAAHHH!"

SLASH!

SQUISH!

And in an instant, the entire crowd of Atlasian citizens ran for their lives, either getting cut to ribbons by the swords or blasted into atoms by the arm cannon, as the screen became coated in red energy, the screams of thousands echoing in the background.

(Some months later)

-Upper Atlas, Glass Unicorn-

Knock knock.

"Ruby, it's me." called out a voice from beyond the light brown mahogany doors, as the knocking continued into the dark room, covered in brilliant red paint, silver curtains and topped with a large black rose shaped waterbed in the center of the room. "Can I come in?"

Silence.

"Ruby?"

Silence.

"...please let me in. It's been five months."

Silence.

"...I'll let myself in, ok?"

Silence.

Creak.

The doors opened as 'Penny' walked into the room, holding a gold tray full of milk and cookies, as light illuminated the area.

"Ruby, it's your favorite." she said while walking towards the bed, where sitting on the bed was…Ruby Rose, her hair grown all the way to her chest, eyes dimmed and unresponsive as her body seemed…paler than normal, her figure slightly malnourished. "Chocolate chips and low fat milk. All the way from Vale."

Silence.

"I'll put them on the table." she said while placing the tray on a nearby wooden table and began stoking the girls' hair with her left hand. "Still lovely as ever…but I wish you ate more. You're becoming underweight, and I don't want you getting sick."

Silence.

"...well, I have some great news." 'Penny' smiled. "I just finished the Atlasian Wall, a big old energy grid that only I can use. And it runs on Hard Light infused Electric Dust, who'da thought?"

Silence.

"And once I finish the treaty with Mistral, Vale, Menagerie and Vauco, Atlas will be a sovereign city under my control." She chuckled. "Plus Mantle is already working on mining deeper into the crater, with some help from me. It's easy when you have the ability to 'make' tunnels."

Silence.

"Ruby, I think this new Neo Atlas will be more helpful to Remnant than the old one." She said while rubbing Ruby's left cheek. "Soon Salem will fall and then…well…I had some ideas."

Silence.

'Penny' turned to face the Huntress and kissed her on the lips, getting no response from her. "Maybe, once the war with the Grimm is over, we could settle down, start a family. Maybe on Patch? How does that sound?"

Silence.

"...Ruby. Please answer me, I really don't…like talking to myself." She said sadly before seeing no change in the girl's facial expression and began gripping her right hand tightly. "Ruby Rose, I have patience worth a million gigabytes but you are making me lose it with your silence! Talk to me or so help me I'll!"

Silence.

'Penny' growled before raising her fist up, only to lower it and slowly calm down a little. "No, hitting you isn't the right way. Barbaric and cruel, and I'm not cruel. But, I think I know the reason why you're not talking to me."

As the girl moved around the bed, her arms crossed behind her back, she began blinking rapidly, seemingly trying to process something.

"I think you're not responding to me due to personal issues. Maybe from the vault, but Ruby, I had to do it, that other me was a copy. A fake. If I had let her exist, then what would I be? A broken toy that the world hates?" she asked while feeling her rage boiling to the surface. "I did what needed to be done for not only my existence, but the love we had between us. Yes, it was friendship at first, but we had…a connection. Something that bound us to our fates."

Silence.

"But seeing you deny that connection wounds me. And I now realize that you…might have another, someone you already shared your heart with." 'Penny' said coldly while moving towards a small picture frame, one with both Team RWBY and JNPR, on it in their uniforms prior to the Fall, on the far right table closest to the door. "Discounting your sister and Pyrrha Nikos, there are only five candidates for your heart. Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Jaune Arc, Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie."

Silence.

"In order from the least likely to the most likely, Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie are nonexistent, having become part of the Mantlian work force after my 'takeover', and are currently together as a couple." she said while making a quiet 'hiccup'. "For Jaune Arc, he was imprisoned for treason against the crown, along with your sister."

Silence.

"Blake Belladonna is incarcerated in the Mantlian Correctional Facility for disturbing the peace." 'Penny' said while letting out a louder hiccup as she placed her left hand on the frame. "And for Weiss Schnee, the most likely of candidates."

Crack.

"She was placed under house arrest for her father's crimes." she said with a frown, the frame breaking in her fingers and releasing a light blue coolant as the wounds suddenly healed in a flash of gold energy. "From what I heard, she waits for you still in the library, hic."

SHATTER!

SNAP!

The frame and glass broke into a thousand pieces as 'Penny' began walking out of the room, Ruby's eyes still staring into distant space.

"I will return later for your supper, please eat the cookies. Please." she said before throwing the now mangled frame onto the ground.

SLAM!

As the android stood near the outer doors, the girl stared at her hands before punching a nearby wall, causing cracks to form from the impact.

"Why!? Why must she hate me so!?" she snapped while her eyes glowed with red energy. "I gave her the best service in Atlas, the best food, the best clothes, the best everything! I poured my time and energy into her health…and she wastes away and is more mute than the assassin! I love her yet she rejects me at the same time!"

Memories flashed in her mind of better times when she and Ruby called each other 'BFFs' and hugged each other during their previous encounters, making her even more confused and…worthless.

"I…I don't know what to do." she said in a forlorn tone. "I really love her, so much. Yet…what should I do to prove myself? I already became this city's queen to prove my worth, to prove I matter. I made sure everyone is happy, I made sure that the Grimm never attacked us again…I even saved the city from destruction…yet I'm called a freak and a monster. No one sees me as anything but a machine. I…I want to feel accomplished, I want your affection, your acceptance, your approval! I just want someone to understand me!"

Light blue coolant leaked from her right eye as she gripped her hands tightly, depressed and feeling insecure about everything she ever accomplished.

"Ruby…my love. My equal and companion." 'Penny' muttered sadly. "Am I not worthy of your love?"

As she walked away, she began thinking of the best way for Ruby's approval, to finally find a way to have her speak.

"...maybe I was thinking this the wrong way? Maybe she needs more 'dates'?" she muttered while forming a small hologram of Ruby from her fingertips. "Yeah. That could work. And once I find Weiss and Blake, those treacherous curs, and string them on a pike for their betrayals, I might actually get her acceptance. No more loose ends and oh, yes, maybe make it a public spectacle kinda date, we have dinner, talk and then show her the proposal ring, all the while the pikes are in the background. Oh Penny, that is a perfect way for romance."

As the camera zoomed back into Ruby's room, it suddenly stopped near her face, her eyes staring back at the screen, unblinking and unfeeling.

[I just know Ruby will love my idea. She loves me after all.]

As the screen began to fade to black, a single lone tear fell from the Silver Eyes' left cheek, a single action that escaped the android's knowledge.

For who would love…a monster?

Not her.

Semblance(s): None (Could possibly use one given enough time)

Bio: In this timeline, when Team RWBY attempted to utilize the Relic of Creation and its spirit, Ambrosius, to separate the Black Queen Virus from Penny Polendina's body via splitting her 'humanity' and android halves into two new bodies…something unexpected happened. The robotic half, containing the Black Queen Virus itself, became sentient, possibly from the absorption of both Winter Maiden and Ambrosius' magical powers, and instead of destroying the body, started to adapt and survive in a desperate desire for preservation. Yet, when the memories of its earlier existence returned, the robotic half began seeing herself as the 'true' Penny Polendina and the human half as the false one, causing her to kill the other 'copy' in order to prevent competition before grabbing the Relic of Creation and forced it into her body, telling the spirit to give her a body that can never be destroyed or undone yet capable of evolving itself to keep herself from ever 'dying' again, since she recalled her fatal battles with both Pyrrha Nikos and Cinder Fall. Quickly 'upgraded' into a one woman army, she easily destroyed the Grimm and caused Salem's retreat from the Solitas continent, as she quickly killed James Ironwood for his 'betrayal' of humanity, yet even with all the good she did, she felt it was hollow and pointless, as everyone in Atlas and Mantle still viewed her as a monster. So, in a moment of logical 'advancement', she took over Atlas as its new queen, keeping the people safe from the Grimm but preventing them from leaving, under the literal pain of death, so they can watch her 'heroics' in action. However, even with an audience and a Kingdom to rule over, she felt inferior, weak and fragile as she began viewing Ruby Rose, her only friend, as a potential anchor, a possible romantic partner…someone that she could use to give herself gratification. Thus, she began trying to show off her abilities, wanting nothing more than to be accepted and loved by the Patch born human…yet she failed to realize that Ruby fears her now, for her true best friend was killed in the cave and the woman trying to win the Silver Eye's heart was a murderous imposter. Now in a constant state of false hopes and unrequited love, 'Penny' continues to do 'heroic' deeds for the sake of Ruby Rose, even if it means killing or destroying any connections the girl made in an attempt to be the only girl in the Huntress's life. A false friendship made hollow by one's inability to move on…sometimes it's not the hero that breaks, but the villain that fails to understand the futility of their own insane actions. A broken puppet for a broken existence.
