The screen began to bubble and boil as the familiar silver door rose from it's depths, the thick purple chains corroding and breaking apart as the door opened up and bathed everything in dark purple.

From the tainted light, came a single red eye that glared at the screen before the door slammed shut and everything became static, a crumbling rose symbol appearing every so often as the title began to form.

The Ruinverse: Chapter Eighty Six, The Fourth Girl.

-Remnant, Sanus, Vale, Beacon Academy, Training Hall 45-

ZAP!

BOOOOOOOOOM!

Thunder and lighting echoed across the empty training hall, lined with green tiles and light brown floorboards, as the glass windows flashed a bright white momentarily, illuminating the room in the process.

Lit only by a simple white candle in the far right side of the room, a figure darted across the area, the sounds of muffled bangs permeating into the darkness like muted grunts of pain as oval shaped cyan punching bags stood erect on their welded triangular frames.

BAM!

BAM!

SWISH!

SWISH!

The figure continued to dart across the room, hitting the many punching bags with excessive force, causing the frames to buckle and warp as white stuffing began to fall onto the floor like snow.

BAM!

SWISH!

KATHUNK!

And within a few seconds of this barrage, the frames broke and fell upon the floor one by one, cracking the floor in the process as the figure panted heavily in the darkness, illuminated briefly by flashing lighting for the briefest of moments before they moved towards the candle.

"Ah….ah….ah..."

ZAP!

BOOOOOM!

The room became illuminated once more as the figure's force revealed themselves, which was a short fair skinned young girl with short neck-length black hair sporting red tips, silver eyes, a C cup chest and small ass, wearing a black high collared long sleeved blouse with red trim on the sleeves, a black waist cincher with red lacing, a long red hooded cloak that went to her heels and was fastened to her shoulders by silver cross-shaped pins, a gray magnetic backpack on her back with a thick gray sheath-like blade with a sharp cleaver-like edge, a black pistol-like handle attached to the hilt, a raised spike at the end and a long black elastic ribbon attached at the hilt, golden bracelets on each of her wrists, a silverish gray rapier with a four pronged hilt and a revolver-like chamber in between the prongs containing different colored Dust crystals within them attached to her left hip, a massive red and black crescent scythe on her lower back, a black belt with a large silver rose emblem shaped buckle and a black pocket on the left side, a red lined black skirt, thick black stockings and black red soled combat boots with red laces and red trims around the top, whose expression was a mixture of exhaustion and…sadness unbound.

This was Ruby Xiao Long Rose, the youngest huntress in training of Beacon Academy and…the only leader of her year to lose more than anyone else, past or present.

For just a month ago, in the dark caverns of Mountain Glenn…everything went wrong.

"Ah…ah…fudge monkeys..." Ruby muttered while taking a seat on the nearby wooden chair, putting her hands over her face and letting out a loud grumble. "Why can't…this pain…stop?" 'Pain…so much pain. It…hurts so much.'

It was a simple mission, stop White Fang, stop Torchwood, stop a train with Dust.

Yet in a moment of 'leadership', Ruby blew it. She thought Team RWBY could handle it and save the day.

"..." Ruby removed her hands and stared at her knees, feeling warm tears falling from her face as she ignored the thunder outside. "...gods. This…really hurts."

ZAP!

BOOOOOM!

Flames….so much flames.

Fragments of steel, shards of coal and Dust spread across the ground…the howls of the Grimm echoing across a panicked Valeian park.

Vivid, complex, painful to recall…all clear within the mind of one Ruby Rose.

"First mom…now this. Am...am I cursed?" Ruby muttered while her shadow grew behind her from the lighting flashes, extending across the floor and towards the dark abyss. "Am I cursed to lose everyone?"

ZAP!

FLASH!

BOOOOM!

"You aren't cursed, dolt." said a voice from right next to Ruby's left side. "But you did lead us into a slaughter."

Ruby's eyes looked to her left before looking back down at her knees, a flash of lighting illuminating the room again as a figure began to materialize near her.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you."

"I can't. It's just another daydream, nothing more."

"Just look at her!"

Ruby's body shook a little in fear, two more figures slowly materializing from the darkness as she slowly moved her head upwards.

For in front of her were the unmistakable forms of…her team.

On her left, was fair Weiss Schnee, clad in an aura of white as her arms, legs and head floated over the bloody stumps of her body, her liver and stomach hanging out from the deep jagged vertical hole that went from her right shoulder to her left hip as her expression was detached and colder than before.

On her right, the bombastic Yang Xiao Long, clad in an aura of red as her neck was left bare without a head, blood dripping from the sides while her right arm held the glaring head in her open palm, her expression filled with unbridled bloodlust and hatred.

And in front of her, the stoic Blake Belladonna, clad in an aura of purple as blood dripped from the large hole in her forehead, revealing chunks of her severed brain as her expression was one filled with paranoia and distrust.

"Finally dolt." 'Weiss' said while crossing her arms, blood dripping from the stumps and onto her skirt. "And here you didn't want to acknowledge us."

"And why should I?" Ruby said while feeling her body shaking like a leaf, yet didn't stutter or faint at the sight of these 'apparitions'. "You're not real."

"Yet we are here." 'Blake' said while her eyes darted around the room. "Waiting for you to finally listen to us and not ignore us like you have for weeks."

"It's becoming really annoying." 'Yang' growled while her head was placed on her left hand. "You need to stop being a screwup and acknowledge us!"

"I don't want to. All of you are just….gross filth!" Ruby yelled while glaring at her 'team'. "Bad memories that shouldn't exist anymore!"

"Ruby, we aren't gross or filth." 'Weiss' said with a cold edge to her tone as she pointed her left index finger at the Silver Eyes. "We are your team, the one you sent to our deaths on a wim."

"Like I had a choice! We all agreed to the plan to stop Torchwick!"

"And look where that led to." 'Blake' said while her ears twitched every so often, thunder ringing across the room and making the 'faunus' more nervous. "A breach in Vale's capital, the deaths of us, Doctor Oobleck, and….the mutt."

"His name is Zwei you bitch!" 'Yang' snapped with fury while turning in Blake's direction. "And if Ruby was a little more clear on the plans, maybe he would be alive!"

"No need for name calling, I just don't like dogs, that's all." 'Blake' said before pointing to Ruby. "And even if Ruby was correct in the plan, we blew it as well. After all, we all died and now your sister is alone."

"...true." 'Yang' said while her anger simmered down for a fraction of a second. "But still, Ruby had one job."

"And that was to lead a team." 'Weiss' said coldly. "All of us know, but now, our leader is broken. Like us."

Ruby's eyes darted down to her knees, letting the three 'teammates' bicker to each other as she began to tune them out. 'Why….Why can't the world be right? Like in the fairy tales?'

Memories flooded the girl's mind, each one depicting fire, metal and screams as the pain returned in full, her heart broken beyond repair for a second time.

Hours turned into days and days turned into weeks within the girls' mind, always winding down to this exact moment.

For it was all her fault.

She was the one that made the suggestion.

She was the one that thought they could win….yet, all that was left of her team were the weapons on her back and the apparitions that haunt her waking hours.

Belittling her, yelling at her, crying out in her face in unholy pain.

All she wanted was to be a huntress, to honor the memory of her team through hard training…yet even now, weeks away from the Vytal Festival, she was in pain, and she had no idea why anymore.

'Memorial speeches don't help, cards don't help, people don't help, cookies don't help…nothing helps.' Ruby thought while gripping her hands tightly. 'Nothing helps the pain. Nothing helps.'

"Ruby!"

Her thoughts of anguish quickly dissipated as the Silver Eyes looked up and saw 'Yang' glaring at her.

"Did you hear ANYTHING we said!?"

"Um…."

"What did we just say?" Weiss asked with a cold glare.

"Um….pancake vengeance?" Ruby said with a blank stare, thunder rumbling in the background as 'Blake' facepalmed.

"No, not vengeance against pancakes." she said with a frown, her ears puffed up from the loud thunder outside the room. "Vengeance against our killers. Against the ones that ruined your life."

"Oh…I know, but…can't we just stop them and…jail them?" Ruby asked with hesitation as she saw her team's cold glares.

"Jail them? Jail those beasts?" 'Weiss' said with a low growl as her fingers stiffened in an aggressive claw-like manner. "They killed us. They murdered us in cold blood and nearly destroyed Vale. Why should we simply leave them to the authorities? Especially Vale's boorish police force?"

"But-"

"And they slaughtered us! I mean look at us!" 'Yang' snapped while pointing to Weiss with her right hand. "She was cut by a chainsaw, I was beheaded by a bladed umbrella, and Blake was shot in the head! Those guys don't need to be jailbirds, they need to BE MURDERED LIKE US! BY US!"

"Our deaths must not go unavenged Ruby." 'Blake' said while moving closer to the girl's face. "You must take initiative and avenge us, no matter what the cost."

"..."

"Ruby, please. You must hunt them down like the animals they are."

"But I can't, I'm a Huntress, I can't just kill for the sake of killing." Ruby frowned. "It goes against everything I stand for?"

"And you're ok allowing our families to have unanswered questions about our deaths?" 'Weiss' said with narrowed eyes.

"No! I mean, it-"

"Don't make excuses!" 'Yang' growled. "Our families-"

"Except mine." 'Weiss' interrupted with a cold emotionless glare.

"Has suffered enough from our murderers! You need to stop them now or our lives will become meaningless!" 'Yang' growled. "We died so that the world can become a better place, yet you dishonor our memories by doing nothing while THEY pillage and kill for gods knows what insane plan they have!"

"I've been training, learning how to be like you guys. I've done something."

"You didn't do MORE!"

"Yang, she gets it." 'Blake' deadpanned while 'Yang' narrowed her eyes at her, causing her ears to droop. "No need to beat around the bush…or glare at me."

"..." 'I can't just kill them. Torchwick is evil but I'm not a monster….then again…he killed Blake, caused Yang and Weiss' deaths, allowed Doctor Oobleck to die…killed Zwei.'

Looking down at her knees once more, Ruby felt her mind thinking back to that fateful day, the day where everything went wrong.

She lost her mother, she lost her sister, she lost her friends, she lost her faithful companion…all in the span of a single lifetime.

And all the while, the White Fang still operates unchallenged in the world, Roman Torchwick and his acquired help still roam free and five steps ahead of the law.

Crime still reigned supreme, injustice as its faithful steed.

How can justice be so small in this world of Grimm?

Yet as she continued to recall the moment, 'Weiss' moved closer to her and whispered in her ear.

"Give in." she said while Ruby blinked in confusion. "Give in to the grief and embrace it. Only then shall you gain the will to avenge us."

Ruby turned towards Weiss' direction as 'Yang' moved her severed head right at her face.

"You must! It's the only way to avenge us!"

She jumped back in surprise before noticing Blake's eyes staring right at her with a hint of hesitation. "But, Pyrr-"

"Why should Team JNPR dictate your actions?" 'Blake' interrupted with a frown. "They weren't there, they didn't lose one of their own to the explosion. They don't have a say in the matter."

"But they tried to help. Same with the professors-"

"They. Weren't. There!" 'Yang' growled with fury. "They weren't there! They sent us to OUR deaths! They have no right to help us in any shape or form!"

"But-"

"Ruby Rose." 'Weiss' said with a blunt yet cold yell, the air becoming colder with every passing second. "Do not delude yourself any further, no one else will understand your grief, ever. They will try to be nice to you, say honeyed words to make your guard wane but you know the truth. For weeks now you knew the truth of this cold reality, yet you placed yourself in fairy tales and fantasy. Face the facts, open your eyes to the truth."

"I-"

"No one understands true loss like you did." 'Blake' said with a sad look on her face. "That tragedy is your own, no one else's."

"And that grief will fuel the flames of revenge! It's time to discard the fairy tales, Ruby." 'Yang' growled as flames appeared over her eyes. "It's time to give in and kill those bastards that ended Team RWBY!"

"But I-"

"You must avenge us!" all three 'apparitions' yelled at once, their aura flaring up as lightning flashed behind them, followed by an enormous rumble of thunder.

ZAP!

BBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!

"I..." Ruby said while looking at her 'team', her eyes glazed over as a flash of bright light covered the screen before suddenly cutting to black.

(Many weeks later)

Within the white and cyan colored room, where several desks with Hard Light constructed screens laid in a single horizontal line from left to right as several operators were busy managing the various biomes, generators, water, electrical, CCT, and air conditioning systems that crisscross the ever vigilant floating colosseum.

Yet all was not well, for tensions were high, security was tightened even more than the previous Vytal Festivals of the past.

All due to a series of terrorist-like attacks on the surrounding city of Vale being reported for weeks.

From arson and bloody assassinations within the victim's estates to the unexpected coralling of the Creature of Grimm upon certain parts of Vale's walls, these attacks had only one thing in common.

They were fixated upon a small White Fang sect that formed several months prior to the attacks and have been reported to have been attempting a 'riot' against the Vytal Festival itself.

The Kingdom of Vale, along with its many visiting 'neighbors' beyond the waters of Vale, is terrified of this unknown entity that threatens the peace, unable to locate or identify anyone that could provide leads to their apprehension by the authorities. The people are jumpy, paranoid and blaming each other for the attacks yet they flock to see the spectacle of tournament fighting between the four great Huntsmen Academies, despite the dangers to their livelihoods.

Even now as the double battles between Beacon and Shade go uninterrupted, the fear of an attack prevents a complete peace from settling upon their restless minds.

Jumpy as jackrabbits and tense as a trigger, the operators continued their endless maintenance checks, hoping that the unknown being, however they are, didn't have the stomach to attack a heavily armed and public area.

BEEP!

BEEP!

BEEP!

Yet that tension was cut in half as an alarm blared out, the walls of the room becoming blood red as the operators began to panic.

"Crap! Something happened to Dust Generators Five and Ten."

"Same with Dust Generators Three, Two and Nine!"

"Dust Generators Eight, Seven, One and Six are down too!"

"What about Dust Generator Four!?"

"It's still operational-"

BEEEEP!

BEEEEP!

BEEEEP!

"Shit! Dust generator Four is down! The Gravity Dust thrusters are offline!"

BEEP!

BEEP!

BEEEP!

"Get the emergency power back online now, before the place falls on vale!" one of the operators yelled before noticing that the front doors behind them were being dented from the outside. "What the-"

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

"Someone's trying to break in!"

"That door is made of Hard Light infused titanium." one of the operators said with a slight cocky smirk on their faces. "No one is that strong."

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

"That door will hold-"

BOOOM!

WWWWWOOOOOSSSSHHHH!

SQUISH!

Instantly, the doors flew off their hinges, severing the unsuspecting operator's upper half from their body as blood coated the back wall.

BEEEP!

BEEEEEEP!

BEEEEEEEEP!

As the operators began to panic and scream, a trail of red moved quickly towards each one, camouflaged slightly by the blaring red alarms.

SQUISH!

"AH!" one of the operators screamed while getting sliced in half by a black blade, his upper half falling to the ground as the unknown assailant continued to slaughter them all with cold efficiency.

"Get secuit-AH!"

"Run-AAHH!"

Flashes of purple and white periodically shone from the blood covered room as one of the operators raced towards the doorless entranceway, their arm sliced off by the assailant's blade.

'Need to get away! Need to warn security….and get the generators back on quickly!' they thought while hearing the screams of their co-workers in their ears.

BAM!

"AH!" they screamed as buckshot hit them right in the legs, a flash of yellow illuminating the room for a brief second.

SQUISH!

"AH! Fuck!" they yelled as the black blade, now curved like a sickle, was embedded in their right hip before they found themselves pulled into the red abyss, just as one of their co-workers quickly ran out of the room. "Dave you bas-AAAAAHHHHHH!"

(A few minutes later)

-Dust Generator Room-

"Ah…ah….that was close." Dave muttered to himself, his fogged up blue glasses unable to see a thing within the pitch black and cyan room, filled with complex machinery that stoned Gravity Dust from the source to the various exhaust ports and electrical circuits that was supposed to power this floating fortress. "Now…to find out what just….happened. Before that bastard shows up again."

Rumble.

Rumble.

Rumble.

"Woah!" he said in shock as the ground began to shake and the feeling of weightlessness began to form around his body, making him look up in disbelief. "Shit, Amity Colosseum's artificial gravity is about to give way. If I don't find the problem, we're screwed." 'And Vale's going to take the brunt of a falling star!'

But as he looked around the room, he noticed that one of the generators, a massive gray cylinder with see-through cyan Hard Light infused glass all around it…was completely destroyed, glass shattered on the ground as the controls were disabled by rapid fire bullet holes.

"What…the!? How!? These generators have enough security defenses to ward off any hackers!" Dave yelled in disbelief, the weightlessness becoming more and more apparent with every passing seconds. "And the firepower needed to completely trash the controls is impossible! Only….shit. Did a team of White Fang animals come in and smash the place!?" 'Why did it have to be fucking faunus!?'

RUMBLE!

RUMBLE!

RUMBLE!

Looking around the room quickly, Dave noticed a single Scroll terminal in the far corner, surprisingly undamaged, and moved towards it, the screen flashing bright green as he noticed an 'ERROR' message overtaking the usual SDC logo.

"What in...this isn't the work of an expert." he muttered while typing on the screen, causing the 'ERROR' message to vanish in an instant. "Whoever attempted to hack their way into the system is an amateur. And…definitely not White Fang." 'For once….but why hack their way in when they just attacked the controls anyway?'

But as he took a better look at the screen, he noticed that there was a timer rapidly counting down to zero as a set of coordinates were placed above the timer...all dictating a single point.

"Oh gods…they weren't here just to hack their way in, they were trying to get the navigation systems disabled." Dave muttered in horror. "And crash Amity Colosseum into Vale at top speed! I need to stop the timer n-"

SQUISH!

"Ah!" he cried out while seeing a silver rapier blade right through his left breast, blood dripping from the wound and mouth as he saw a flash of red right behind him.

"Can't let you do that." the voice said coldly while Dave saw flashes of yellow, purple and white in between his brief flashes of lucidity. "This plan will not fail!"

As his life began to leave his body, Dave tried to turn around and see his assassin, only to see a golden gauntlet right near his face.

BAM!

And fired buckshot right through his head, causing gray matter and bone to go flying as the figure callously pulled their blade out of his and allowed the body to drop to the ground.

As the screen brightened the dark room, the figure moved towards the screen and revealed themselves as...Ruby Rose, her eyes glazed over and filled with malice as she disengaged the gauntlets into the bracelet forms.

Woosh!

"The plan is successful." Ruby said in Weiss' voice, the tone filled with detached coldness, her eyes glowing white for a moment before changing to a purple color, her voice mimicking the deceased faunus to a 'T', her mannerisms now tinged with excessive amounts of fear. "And...once the colosseum crashes..."

Wooosh!

"THEN CRIME WILL DIE!" the woman yelled in Yang's voice, her tone filled with rage as the floor began to shake, the feeling of weightlessness pushed to its utmost limits. "ALL OF THOSE BASTARDS WILL BE KILLED!"

Wooosh!

"Including the monsters that ruined me." Ruby said while turning her head towards the entranceway. "After all."

WOOOSH!

"Team RWBY always beats the bad guys." she said before activating her semblance, turning into red rose petals as the sound of screams echoed across the facility, the rumbling getting louder and louder as the walls began to turn bright orange.

But as the screen began to become coated in bright orange light-

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

Everything became blackened and still…silent forevermore.

Semblance(s): Petal Burst/Speed

Bio: In this timeline, the events of the Mountain Glenn mission went off the deep end as every member of Team RWBY were killed by their respective opponents and were unable to stop the train from colliding with Vale's outer walls. Yet despite this tragedy, Ruby Rose survived and, having acquired her team's weapons before the fatal crash, chose to honor her team's memories by training herself to mirror her team's fighting styles and weapons in tangent with her own weapon. However, as a result of the tragedy, the once shy but hopeful Ruby Rose became a shell of her former self, becoming cold and detached to everyone else upon her return to Beacon Academy and distancing herself from her remaining friends, feeling like it was her own fault for not helping her team. In the weeks following this event, tensions are high between Atlas, Menagerie and Vale, yet for Ruby, it was just useless distractions and not worth her time….yet unbeknownst to all, the events of Mountain Glenn fractured the girl's mind into four distinct personalities, each one based on a strong emotion or feelings characterized by a member of her deceased team. The emotions of distrust and fear became the voice of Blake Belladonna, the feeling of isolation and cold apathy became Weiss Schnee's voice, and the emotions of hate and rage became Yang Xiao Long's voice…all driven by a singular purpose, to make Ruby Rose 'avenge' their deaths and give in to the grief she harbors within her heart. Pressured by the voices and believing that 'no one would understand loss like she did', the young huntress eventually succumbed to madness and, viewing the White Fang as the perpetrators of her team's destruction, began attacking them and all their allies, including one Roman Torchwick, utilizing destructive tactics no other sane person would utilize, such as redirecting the Grimm into attacking White Fang bases, causing vehicular explosions utilizing destructive Dust bombs capable of flattening an entire city, and even hijacking the controls of Amity Colosseum and destroying the Gravity Dust generators…right over the city of Vale itself in a mad attempt to end all crime in a single strike. This four woman army, capable of switching personalities on the fly and becoming a destructive form of Team RWBY itself, soon found herself becoming a wanted criminal across Remnant for her actions against all four Kingdoms, mostly due to her hijacking of Amity Colosseum, and, in a desperate bid to escape the law and the justice she rightfully deserved, she approached Salem and became one of her followers to escape justice itself. A sad fate, to succumb to guilt and madness, yet even if her actions were motivated by a small form of personal vendetta, her actions led to a much more divided Remnant and deprived it of its hero. To think, this whole chain of destruction was caused by the successes of Team RWBY's enemies.
