The screen began to bubble and boil as the familiar silver door rose from it's depths, the thick purple chains corroding and breaking apart as the door opened up and bathed everything in dark purple.
From the tainted light, came a single red eye that glared at the screen before the door slammed shut and everything became static, a crumbling rose symbol appearing every so often as the title began to form.
The Ruinverse: Chapter Eighty Nine, Una Veritas Perniciosa.

-Remnant, Solitas, Atlas, Atlas Academy, Atlas Command Center, Atlasian Interrogation Wing-
Clank.
Clank.
Clank.
Clank.
Within the dull white hallways, lit faintly by cyan bulbs, a figure walked towards a set of spiraling stairs which descended deep into the facility's underbelly, seemingly frantic and quick despite being in one of Atlas' most secure military bases.
Clank.
Clank.
Clank.
Clank.
Clank.
Deeper and deeper the figure went into the deepest portion of the base, the lighting becoming dimmer with each passing second as the figure quickly moved off the spiral stairway and down the left most hallway.
Clank.
Clank.
Clank.
Yet as the figure stopped at a thick cyan Hard Light infused steel door with a plaque labeled 'Atlasian Interrogation Room 50' on it, the lights began to flicker on and off, the sound of a keypad ringing across the otherwise empty hallway.
Ping.
Woosh!
Instantly, the doors split in two and spread outwards, allowing the figure to enter the room, painted pure black as several neon green panels lined the floor, ceiling and walls, producing a strange electrical hum as the doors quickly closed behind and locked by itself with a loud click.
"Ugh…" groaned a young male voice from the left side of the room as the figure turned towards the voice.
"Awake? Good." spoke a unhinged voice as the lights revealed the figure's form, that being a tall fair skinned man with long disheveled graying black hair that covered his left eye and went down to his shoulder blades, blue eyes with thick black circles, a thin rectangular gray strip of metal over his right eyebrow, a short disheveled black beard stained with dried blood, wearing a long sleeved dark blue collared shirt, a long sleeved white dark blue cuffed coat with dark blue and red accents, silver buttons, a red tie, a white long sleeved double-breasted jacket, white gloves with dried blood on the palms and tips, long dark blue belts around his chest and waist, dark blue pants and dark blue red lined calf high boots with silver steel toe and heel plating, as his face was filled with unbridled rage that seemed barely contained under his cold expressionless face. "Then I don't have to wake you up the hard way."
The voice groaned while the man crossed his arms behind his back, the lights flickering on and off to reveal….Oscar Pine, simple farm boy and host of the ancient being named Ozma, chained to the wall by very short black cuffs as his entire right arm was missing, festering with gangrene as his face was almost unrecognizable due to the swollen black eyes, his clothes replaced with a simple white sleeveless gown covered in a mixture of dried blood, fresh ichor and the occasional bile.
"Ugh..."
"I suggest you tell me everything. Your little friends did and got lighter sentences in prison. You don't have to suffer the wrath of Atlas." the man frowned while Oscar groaned again in pain, several long wires attached to a black metallic headband being visible against the neon green background as the electric hum echoed within their ears.
"Ugh…I told you before…I can't get him out."
POW!
"AH!" Oscar cried out as the man punched him in the face with his right arm, causing blood to fall from his lips and eyes.
"You said the same thing for weeks." He growled in anger. "He must come out eventually and once he does, he WILL tell me HOW to reactivate the Relic of Knowledge!"
"Ah…ah…he won't come. Not to you…" Oscar groaned before getting punched in the chest, a loud cracking sound emanating from the impact wound. "AAAHHHH!"
"YOU WILL TELL ME NOW BOY!"
POW!
CRACK!
"Ah…a..h…a..." he gasped in pain as his nose was cracked and bleeding. "W…a…ts…the…rush?"
"You know damn well boy! Salem is coming VERY soon and if that relic isn't opened soon, then Atlas WILL fall to her and Remnant will lose everything!"
"It…was lost…the moment you lost…your heart." Oscar gasped out in pain, causing the man to kick on his right leg, breaking it in the process as the boy tried to not scream in pain. "Ruby…tried to help…but you squandered it."
"She was a traitor for hiding the information beforehand!"
"She cam...e to your office and answered…truthfully. On...ly you saw it as treason...thanks to your semblance..." he groaned while looking at the man, barely as blood dripped from his blackened eye sockets. "You can beat me, burn me, break my bones, keep me locked in an auraless room and starve me…but I will not help you…Ozpin will never help you…my friends will not help you…Ironwood, you will never have our help now, or ever again…"
POW!
CCCCCRRRRRAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKK!
Oscar screamed in pain as the general grabbed the boy's left wrist and snapped it, causing the bones to break as the hand was left hanging by the muscle fibers.
"You had your chance." Ironwood growled while walking to the right, where a wooden table stood, and picked up a large black metallic glove with several long wires stretching out from the fingertips before fitting it to his left hand. "And I'm tired of hearing the same excuses over and over and over again. So, I'm forced to take drastic measures."
Click.
Click.
"What…are you?" Oscar said weakly while the general pushed several black buttons on the glove's wrist, electricity sparking from the wires as the boy saw sparks discharging from the glove's fingertips.
"Taking the information from you, along with your aura." Ironwood said coldly. "All thanks to the Dian Cecht, an experimental and highly dangerous aura siphoning device of Watt's design."
"Aura…siphoning…?"
"Yes, if I can't get the information out normally, then I have to take everything from you by force, including Ozma's soul." He said with a dark glare. "I am the right person to be his host, I am a hero that will do whatever it takes to save Remnant, even from its most selfish heroes like him."
"But you can..'t just take Ozpin's powers….he has to chose-"
"And look what that brought us, a boy that is going to die for another person's mistakes. Well, I will not make the same mistake as him, I will make sure to replace ALL Huntsmen with the Atlasian Knights, all without emotion or intelligence, and will be hosting MY will until the day Salem's weaknesses are known. I will be Remnant's hero, I will be the one that SAVES IT! NOT YOU! NOT THE SILVER EYES! NO ONE!"
ZAP!
"AAAAHHHHHHHH!" Oscar screamed as his body was zapped with a thousand volts of electricity, his aura oozing out of his body like amber as it began to move across the wires and onto Ironwood's body, his natural blue aura becoming coated with green.
"Yes." the general smirked while feeling his aura increasing with every second. "Yes….Yes! The power, the knowledge of the ages, it is mine!"
ZAP!
ZAP!
ZAP!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" the boy screamed as his body began to shrivel up, hair falling out as his skeleton began to jut out from the now hardened skin.
"I feel it, the power, the knowledge, Ozma's very soul! Soon I will use it to bring about the salvation of Remnant! The eternal reign of Atlas!"
ZAP!
ZAP!
ZAP!
ZAP!
ZAP!
As the boy's body transformed into a dried husk, the general, in his utter fixation on the possibilities Ozma's powers could bring to the war, the aura surrounding him started to grow bigger, its transparent and see-through appearance becoming more solid with every second while turning from an amberish blue to a dark lava orange hue.
BABUM!
But in the blink of an eye, the general's body started to develop strange glowing burn marks across his entire body sans his right side, which burned like fire upon contact with the air itself.
"Wait, what's going on?" Ironwood said out loud as the burning sensation became increasingly unbearable, his aura growling larger and larger until it nearly touched the ceiling. "Why is my aura not stabilizing!?"
ZAP!
ZAP!
ZAP!
ZAP!
Sisssssle!
"Why isn't the Dian Cecht's stabilizer now working!?" he screamed while the aura began turning a bright orange color, the 'burn' patches spreading all across his body as the room's temperature increased and began melting the very walls and ceiling. "Why can't I control it!?"
SISSSSSSSLLLLEEEE!
Ironwood's eyes began to glow bright orange as the thick gelatinous aura began to crack, 'fire' expelled out of the open 'cracks' as a bright white light illuminated the screen. "AAAAHHHHHH-"
(Elsewhere)
-Outside Remnant's atmosphere-
The camera loomed down towards the planet's surface, vast stretches of ocean with strange draconic shaped 'islands' dotting the northern and southern halves of the equator.
A tranquil setting for a wrong abandoned by its creators.
Yet, as the camera fixated itself on the northern hemisphere…a bright light shot from the continent of Solitas, followed by a massive circular explosion that soon absorbed the icy continent like a ravenous Ursa, as the clouds instantly dissipated to reveal the northern seas of Remnant.
Within the span of a few seconds, the light dissipated into oblivion, revealing a massive crater in place of the home of the Kingdom of Atlas, the seawater quickly filling the hole left in the light's wake as a strange gray cloud began forming all across the atmosphere, blotting out the sun and leaving a trail of small orange lights that came into existence like a thousand miniature city skylights.
As the screen faded to black, the last visible trace of the hole became coated in the strange gray cloud as the Age of Kingdoms ended…and the Age of Ruin began.

Semblance(s): Mettle.
Bio: In this timeline, Ruby Rose, having made it to Atlas after a long and difficult journey across Anima, made a choice when she finally meets General James Ironwood, one that had heavy implications for that timeline's future as a whole…she told him the absolute truth instead of lying to his face. Now normally, this decision would allow the general to become Ruby's most loyal and trusted ally within the RWBYverse itself…however this hopeful resolution isn't a thing in the Ruinverse and led to a disastrous result, for when the general learned about the true history of Remnant and Salem's immortality, his mind, influenced by his semblance Mettle, finally snapped under stress and paranoia, causing him to imprison Team RWBY and JNR for 'treason' while capturing Oscar Pine, the new host of Ozpin/Ozma, and imprisoning him in a specially designed Hard Light cell to prevent his escape, but not before shooting the boy's right arm off to keep him from 'fighting back'. For the next few weeks, Ironwood would attempt to activate the Relic of Knowledge to gain more information on Salem and her apparent weaknesses, but failed to do so due to Oscar changing the 'password' before his capture, forcing the general to endlessly torture the boy for information, viewing him as the only one that can save Remnant but dooms it anyway for selfish reasons, each method of interrogation becoming more and more brutal and inhuman as the boy constantly resists divulging anything to the now 'heartless' man. Enraged and growing desperate, especially given the fact that Salem was coming to Atlas, he decided to execute a failsafe procedure on the boy, utilizing the prototype medical tool, the Dian Cecht, whose original purpose was to transfer aura to dying or heavily injured patients but could be used to forcibly transfer aura into an aura user's body and permanently increase their own aura levels at the cost of killing the patient in question. In the general's mind, taking Oscar's aura would allow him to become Ozma's new host and gain access to the ancient wizard's millennia's worth of knowledge, which he would use to weaponize said knowledge and create versions of the Atlasian Knight series capable of holding his consciousness after death, creating an army of metal warriors capable of stopping Salem's advances until a solution to destroying the immortal was possible. However, after the general stole the aura of Ozma, killing Oscar in the process, the intense magical power negatively reacted to Ironwood's aura and overloaded the two opposing forces, creating a massive explosion akin to a million Fire Dust bombs going off all at once, completely obliterating the continent of Solitas and creating a toxic fallout that, once making contact with aura or magic laced sources, caused a deadly chain reaction of spontaneous explosions that destroyed all aura fueled life on the planet, leaving the planet in the hands of auraless and magicless species ill-prepared of a world devoid of both sunlight and permanent winter. A single truth can lead to many outcomes…but in this case, it led to the destructive end of civilization itself, transforming Remnant into an inhospitable world of ruination.
