The boys had already gone to a few parties. There were no hits, no incidents matching Eifion's description. That was until tonight…
Daniel stumbled through the crowd of party-goers, desperately trying to stay awake while he canvased the area. It was getting difficult going to so many parties in a row, no clues to who the person going around drugging the feminine population in the school.
The only plus side to these failures was that they weren't the only teens there, so they weren't the odd ones out most of the time. But, considering it hard to tell age by someone's looks, sometimes, there's a chance that they were the youngest there.
For some reason, the groups of teens and adults tended to steer away from each other. It was a good thing, considering it could be bad if adults mingled with their younger peers, especially those with ulterior motives. But considering there was a guard posted at every door, they'll be stupid to try and attempt it… but still, this situation could be considered unique.
Maybe the people that came to this school were a cut above from the normal population, or maybe, someone knew how to control the students, to make sure they steered away from each other.
All, except for one right now…
That boy was slamming drinks like he had a record to beat, yet somehow also keep at the same time.
Daniel frowned as he watched Killua slammed another drink down on the bench, a group of adults easily twice his age, erupting into cheers as another victim fell off a barstool to Killua's devilish nature. Whoever that person was, Daniel felt sorry for them. Not only would they be dealing with headache in the morning… if they were betting money on whether they could outlast Killua or not, they fell victim to his partner's cruel gambling habits.
He may have been bad on Greed Island when he was using the Risky Dice at the slot machines, but here… there were no risks. He could tank drink after drink, never once getting even tipsy. This was like that Yorknew arm wrestling match Leorio set up with himself and Gon.
Only this time, Killua was immune to alcohol's effects.
But Killua's gambling and drinking habits was the lease of his problems. It was the crowd surrounding his partner. Not only did it make him harder to approach, but searching for someone specific without clues to who they were, was getting difficult without his boyfriend's help.
He felt like he was the only pair of eyes looking. Unless, between every drink, Killua was glancing between the crowd without him ever being aware of the act… if so, then he'll feel like an idiot for assuming Killua was here to only drink himself into a stupor, which would be considered impossible at this point.
After watching him for several nights pretend to be drunk, only to remove the façade right after leaving the party, showed that Killua being drunk will never happen.
Daniel continued to move around for a few hours, idly listening to the conversations going by. He was ready to call it a night even though the party was still going on. He had enough of drunk teens and adults. He just wanted to cuddle up with Killua and get some actual sleep…
When he was about to go collect his trying to act "drunk" partner, someone bumped into him, slipping a drink into his hand.
He snapped his head in the direction of the person who bumped into him, but given where he was standing, whoever slipped him the drink, meld well into the massive crowd. Shit… I was the next victim, and I didn't catch the person.
He looked at the hand, taking note of the martini with chocolate slipped onto the edge, an umbrella slipped in to make it look pretty. I should tell Killua about this… He moved between the crowd, careful to not drop the evidence.
He made it to Killua without any hassles, tapping his party on the shoulder.
Killua eyes sparkled when he saw Daniel holding the beverage, "My beautiful girlfriend brought me a drink…" the boy slurred as he tried to take the drink out of Daniel's hand, but his partner pulled it away.
Killua whined, pretending that his heart was broken from the act for the crowd. But when his eyes met Daniel's, he understood the situation. The drink wasn't meant for him… it was for his partner. Getting off the seat, he grabbed his wad of cash, shoving it into his pocket as he pretended to stumble around before he was able to wrap his arm around his partner's shoulder, "Sorry… but the misses is here to drag my ass home."
As the crowd booed, Daniel rolled his eyes at them, a fake smile was offered to compensate for their loss of entertainment.
The two stumbled far from the crowd, away from most of the people before Killua addressed the situation "You think it's them?"
"I don't know…"
"Did you at least catch a glimpse of them?"
"No, they used the crowd to slip me the drink. By the time I turned to look, there were too many people near me. Also, nobody was checking me out at the time, watching to see if I'll drink it. Do you feel any eyes on us…?"
"Plenty, but not the watchful kind…"
"Did you take a sip?"
"No… of course not… I don't want to break my vow." Killua crossed his arms as he leaned against a wall, a few people stumbling around them, too drunk to care about the conversation going on around them.
Drumming his fingers against his arms, the boy eyed the drink. They should bring it to Eifion, but they can't exactly walk out of here with the cup… it'll seem suspicious. Plus, it was a chocolate martini… he wasn't about to pass that up, "I'll drink it-"
He reached for it again, but Daniel pressed a finger against his partner's nose, "No… just because it's got chocolate, doesn't mean I'll just hand it over to you."
"Okay…" Killua pulled back his hand, "Sure, I want to try it because it's got chocolate… but we can't walk out with it, we might draw attention to ourselves."
"What if you get drunk…?"
Killua plucked the drink out of his partner's hand, "No matter what they put in it… I'll be resistant to it." He chugged the drink down before his partner could stop him. Licking his lips, he mewled with delight at the taste. Chocolate makes everything taste a thousand times better, "Mmm… tasty… They have…" Killua started to wobble after a few seconds, Daniel stopping him from falling over.
Something changed in Killua's demeanour; the way he smiled… the way he was now looking at him… the way his cheeks were vibrant red. Usually, when it was this red, Killua was embarrassed at the situation.
But this kind of flushed red was different… it was worrying Daniel, especially when his boyfriend opened his mouth "Wow… you have really… soft hands."
The boy giggled as Daniel raised an eyebrow in concern, "Are you okay?"
"I feel…" Killua paused, stumbling around as he tried to stand "fan-tas-tic…"
"You're drunk, Killua…"
"I'm not…" the boy blinked slowly, voice now slurring every word "drunk… prove it!"
"You mean I, as in you can prove it…"
Killua looked at Daniel, blinking slowly at the boy's words. Something must've eventually clicked because the delay shouldn't have existed for as long as it did, "Yeah, yeah what you said…"
Daniel brought his hand up to his face. Contemplating on whether he should question Killua, or somehow manipulating him to follow him as though he was a stray puppy. In the end… he'd rather prove that his partner was as drunk as a skunk than continue to let him act this way "How many fingers am I holding up?" The boy held up three fingers, expecting an immediate wrong answer.
Instead what he got, was a long pause, "Hmm…"
"Don't think too hard… it's a number, not an equation."
"I'm not thinking, but I'm trying to count your fingers, but you keep moving your hand."
Daniel this would've confused him, if, he didn't already know what being drunk looked like. He spent too many nights going to parties, that he was now used to it. But this was Killua he was now looking at, his partner being drunk was an abnormal event for him… shocking him to the core with worrying thoughts. Killua's blurred vision, struggling to even offer a number… this felt terrifying on so many levels.
Whatever was in the drink, it could breach even an assassin who has spent years training their body to resist all kinds of poisons. This was without a doubt terrible news. If it could surpass even Killua's immunity, the true intention of this drug result could be devastating to the world population in the wrong hands.
Still… why was it being used to intoxicate people, unless…
"Five…"
Daniel snapped out of his thoughts, looking into the eyes of his swaying partner who was now grinning smugly at him. Killua was wrong, yet the way he guessed showed he was desperately trying to convince him that not only was Daniel wrong, but his partner was sober.
He couldn't destroy that enthusiasm, not with Killua, even if him being drunk was an issue "You got it right."
"See… I'm not drunk."
Daniel offered his partner a smile, "Another test wouldn't hurt…"
"Ha…" Killua leaned in closer, his face pressed up against Daniel's. The smell of alcohol was strong on his boyfriend's breath, "I'll pass that test too."
"Touch your nose." Daniel offered a smirk. He knew Killua had no way of doing it, not while he was this drunk.
Killua pressed a finger to his cheek, "See… I can do it easy."
Daniel would've laughed, but the enthusiasm was intoxicating. He savouring Killua's fun side, the side that would give away even his hidden intentions.
Apart of him wanted to abuse the broken barriers, to see how exactly this drug was affecting his partner. Intoxication can't be the only problem it causes. Eifion did mention it lowers people's walls… what exactly would it do to Killua, his partner who has become an open book with him, "Alright… you did it. I have a question though."
"Sure…" Killua leaned against the wall, almost falling off it in the process. But he managed to stop himself before he could do so.
"If it hasn't done anything to you… what was the drug supposed to do."
Killua shrugged at the question, "Dunno… but I'm feeling chipper… more than chipper." He once more leaned forward, groping his partner.
Daniel froze at the touch. Oh, shit… did the drug make him aroused? "Killua we can't…"
"Not with that attitude…" Killua tried to kiss his partner, but Daniel avoided it.
The boy needed to get out of this situation, to bring Killua to a person who could help him, help Killua sober up "I mean… not here."
"A bit of voyeurism wouldn't hurt anyone one…" He tried to kiss his partner again.
Daniel avoided the affection again, guilt building up the longer the situation progresses. He can't abuse the situation, not while his partner was drunk, even if the prospect of affection would make him happy "I mean… not in front of everyone. We should move to somewhere more secluded… where I could make more noise for you."
"Oh… I'd like that. Noisy Daniel is the best Daniel…" Killua brought his face closer to his partner, "I like when you're riding my cock… screaming my name so everyone knows who you belong to."
Daniel blushed at the comment. You can do this… You can survive an uncaringly, open sexual version of Killua… I'll get him to Eifion, he should be able to help Killua… "I know the perfect place…"
"Great, I'll lead the way…" Killua stumbled forward, even if he had no idea where he was supposed to go.
Daniel shook his head before slipping an arm around Killua's waist, "As long as I get to hold you."
"Baby…" Killua breathed out slowly, a smirk widening across his face, "I'd let you do anything, as long as I get to make you scream, my name."
Daniel's face heated up at the words. You can do this… "Let's go."
Killua smiled widely, "Great… Hey, you think you'll let me record me going to town on your ass?"
"Killua…"
"Yeah, yeah… You're right. You'll let me do it anytime."
Daniel's eyes widened in terror as he looked forward. It's going to be a long night…
"~"
Daniel slammed his fist on the principle's door, hoping that even though it was early in the morning, the man was still in his office. Killua giggled, cute laughter bubbling up every few minutes like he was watching random funny videos in his head.
"Eifion…? Please be in there…"
Killua gasped, "I didn't know we'll have an audience… though it'll feel weird doing you in front of the principle. Unless… You're into people knowing all the things I'd do to you."
The door opened as Killua finished his sentence, Eifion standing at the doorway, unsure how to react. Killua was drunk, Daniel was blushing while his partner was giggling and groping him.
"Should I even ask…"
Daniel pushed his way past the man "It's been a long night." When the boy was in the room, Eifion closed the door, watching the younger boy force his partner to sit down onto the couch.
"Come on baby… come ride the Killua train… all aboard, choo-choo…"
As the boy burst into laughter, Daniel turned to Eifion, silently pleading for the man to help him.
"What exactly happened?"
"I was supposed to be the next victim, but Killua opted to drink it, hoping that it'll stay in his system long enough for you to at least get a gauge on what it does."
"I can see that…" The man crossed his arms, "he's so drunk, I don't think he's sane enough for a blood test."
"I'm not drunk…" Killua slurred. Smiling widely, he was proud of his next choice of words, "I passed Daniel's tests with flying colours."
"I see…" Eifion looked between both boys, one was clearly into the situation, more than the other. Killua was down to do anything with his partner, constantly groping the boy, even though Daniel obviously, didn't want to abuse the situation, "knock him out…"
"Kinky…" Killua murmured with a smile, "but only if you ride me."
Daniel brought up his hand, getting ready to chop the boy on the back of the neck. He had seen Killua knock people out plenty of times with this move. Even with his partner swaying, he should be able to take his partner out in a single hit, "I'm sorry…"
"For wha-"
Daniel chopped his partner on the back of the neck before he could finish his sentence, watching him slump forward onto the ground with a heavy thud. He was sincerely sorry, sorry for letting Killua say half of the stuff he had while he was intoxicated.
"Bring me up to speed now."
Daniel told the man everything that transpired over the last few nights they went to these parties, focusing mainly on the things that happened this night, from Killua's drinking game, the gambling, to him being slipped a drink and the effects of what Killua went through after downing the drug.
"This is bad news…"
"You're telling me… he was ready to screw me in front of you."
"Not just that… the underage drinking… not just with Killua, but others too. My career will go up in flames."
"Eifion, the drug… what those teens were doing, they did it while they were self-conscious about the differences between age groups. Plus, a person was guarding every entryway. No one was getting in and out without anybody noticing. the teens were way~ smarter than Killua right now… he was slamming drink, after drink like it was going out of style. The others in our age group, stuck to their own, group… Unlike Killua here…"
Daniel proceeded to pick his partner up, laying him on his lap as he stroked the boy's hair.
"That's good news, but still…"
Daniel held his hand over his boyfriend's forehead, "The drug, bypassed his immunity, that is a huge problem…"
"You're right…" Eifion took a deep breath, calming his thoughts down as he assessed the situation. So, the drug that has been tested on everyone worked across the board… no matter their immunity system. Either they were a skilled chemist, or they were somehow bringing this in without any of the school's faculty members knowing…
This could become a potential drug bust risk, "So what we know, with the latest victim, it made them susceptible to the alcohol, lowering their inhibitions. It also bypassed his immune system, made Killua hyper-aware of his sexual attraction to you… touchy-feely, and even worse… aroused at the thought of doing you in front of others. Am I missing anything?"
"Nope, you hit everything… including the things that didn't need to be brought up."
"It made them go wild…" Eifion thought out loud. He scanned his thoughts for a moment, trying to think of a drug that would come close to this… But then something else hit him, "Wait… bypassing an immunity system…"
Eifion moved to his computer, tapping away at the keys, pulling up all the students working in Chemistry, psychology, biology. Thousands of names popped up. He can narrow that list down drastically, "I think I could pinpoint who the culprit is…"
As he tapped away, Daniel posed a question, "Wait, because of Killua, you can pinpoint the culprit?"
"Not exactly… it's his immunity which is the key to this. You see, no one that has digested the drug had an immunity like Killua's. Which means…" Eifion typed in a few terms before hitting enter, the list was now five names, "Drat… five names."
Daniel moved Killua to a more comfortable position before moving to stand by Eifion, looking at the names as well. He knew none of the names, so he was no help, "So what changes things here?"
"Gene therapy…"
"Which is…?"
Eifion pulled up one of the student's files at random, looking over the assignments for anything to help him narrow down the list, "Using a layman's explanation, it alters white blood cell's genetic code to accept something more easily, even someone with a strengthened immune system… or a Nen user that wouldn't normally be affected by the common flu, could get using the flu this method. However, the drug in this context doesn't make sense… intoxication would be the last thing you'd want alongside a drug like this. Biological warfare would be an example. Something that as soon as it hits a person, it kills them from the inside and out… this is like the Miniature Rose all over again, a type of bomb so small and easy to produce… could effectively kill a Nen user… alongside thousands of other people. With the poison it inflicts afterwards, many more would die from staying in an area with a carrier of the after-effect poison."
Daniel stopped to look at Eifion, "Wait… Miniature Rose… The Chimera War Killua and I went to, we know someone the rose was used on. I spoke to that someone?"
"Were you in a tight room with them?"
"No…"
"You should be fine, especially if it's been months since that incident." Eifion pulled up another name, "What I'm looking for… is someone who did extensive research on Gene Therapy and a knack for chemistry."
When Eifion searched through the fourth file, he had his ah-ha moment, "Here…" He pulled up the assignment, going through the document from line-to-line. He mumbled the words before stopping dead in his tracks. It wasn't just Gene Therapy he was touching on… he was using his uncle's research to bolster his findings. He closed the document, scrolling up to the name and face.
"Simone Malmström… he's quite smart for his age."
Daniel glanced over the boy's age "He's seventeen… and he's studying Chemistry and Biology. What was the assignment on?"
Eifion minimised the screen before Daniel could read any more on the older teen. He can't have Daniel going after them, not that he seemed like the type to do so. But Killua on the other hand... might go for revenge, and he can't have that.
"Nothing infringing… at least, from a quick glance. I must see if his subject focus is on female biology. What I can tell you, is his theory is based on health therapy, mainly, depression. But I can't understand how the effect of this drug correlates with his focus. I'll have to read more into his work to see if there's a correlation between the two. However, if he's testing it on students without going through the proper paperwork to get it tested, he's in big trouble."
"Can we bring him in on this alone…?"
"Oh no… this is where I step in, and you step out."
Daniel gave a nod of understanding, "Understandable."
"That means…" Eifion pressed a finger to Daniel's chest, "I need you to not say anything to Killua."
"I can't…"
"Why not? This is a private matter I need to deal with… I can't have Killua stepping in and-"
Daniel held up a hand to stop Eifion from arguing about the matter, "Killua and I agreed to be more open with each other. We tell each other things. I'm not gonna hide the information I know from Killua, because it could ruin the one thing that could help us defeat Victor."
Eifion tried to open his mouth again, but Daniel stopped him once more, "I promise you… that guy won't turn up dead on school property… or outside of it. You… can trust Killua to not act on impulse."
Eifion gave a nod, but he still had to say what he needed to be said "Still… if any of you approach Simone, detention will be the least of your problems. I don't care that your father is Vastorie, or that Killua is a Zoldyck… neither of you will get, a get out of the jail-free card. I'll look through the other names just to double-check, but for the moment… Take Killua back and lay him down in bed to let him get some rest. He should be sober in the morning. When he wakes up, give him water. From what I experienced… when I was much… much younger, I usually woke up with a dry and itchy throat. Water helps with that… Besides that, if he wakes up and his still not fine, bring him back here, we'll get him a proper check-up with the nurse to make sure everything will be ok. Going by the other victims, none of them had issues after a good night rest… Killua should be the same."
Daniel looked at his partner, smiling as he watched his boyfriend's chest rise and fall, "That makes me relieved… I care about him… and don't worry, I'll tell Killua that the situation is being dealt with."
