July 27th 20XX

It's been a little over a month since I moved to Littleroot with my family from Lilycove. It certainly was a nice change of pace as I had always loved the outdoors and I was obsessed with the adventurous tales my uncle told me of his time as a Pokemon trainer roaming the lands of Hoenn. We didn't move just because of the scenery, my parents weren't nearly that spontaneous. My father applied for a job at professor Brich's research center, feeling that he had outshone the others working in Lilycove. He had always dreamed of working beside professor Birch ever since he started working at the Lilycove research center twelve years ago. My father wasn't the only one who had appreciated this change in scenery. I remember it like it was yesterday when he burst through the door and announced that we would be moving to Littleroot. I ran straight up to him to embrace my old man. My mother wasn't home at the time so he and I decided to throw a surprise party to celebrate the good news. She was squealing along with us as soon as she found out.

I doubt either of them was as happy about it as I was. I grew so tired of living in the big city that I often fantasized about sneaking away, past the city borders and into the woods. The only greenery Lilycove offered was the small park in the middle of the city. It was nice for a park, but I had walked my boots ragged there. Parks are nice and all, but once you've memorized every trimmed hedge and every well-worn wishing fountain they had, they kind of lose their appeal. That's why I was so overjoyed to finally get out of the city and into the countryside.

In the past month, I felt more alive than in the past sixteen years I had been on this earth combined. At first, I was worried I wouldn't be able to make friends here. I was always a little...off compared to my peers in Lilycove. The small handful of friends I managed to make there were only sticking around because they were also weird. All those irrational fears were shattered the moment we pulled up to our new house. Our new neighbors were already waiting for us with welcome presents. Who would've thought that the best present out of all of them would be the two kids who stood in front of them with a twinkle in their eyes?

Brendan, May, and I became inseparable! I was older than them by a year, but I was always the one chasing after them whenever they went into the vast forest that surrounded Littleroot. We got into all sorts of mischief within the first week of meeting them. I couldn't have asked for better friends. The more I learned about them the closer we got. Since they were both six, all they wanted was to become Pokemon trainers. Their obsession soon became my own and we went out every day, looking for trouble and Pokemon. Three weeks ago, they gave me an offer that I could not refuse. Turns out professor Birch was not only the lead Pokemon researcher of Hoenn but also had the authority to fast-track, someone, through trainer school. I busted my ass for twenty-one days straight waiting for this day to come, and I wasn't going to miss a second of it.

Or so I thought.

"Eriiiic! Wake up!" Came the muffled shout from outside, followed by a loud thud against my window.

I turned over, pulling the pillow over my head to stifle the annoying sounds of people trying to wake me up. The voice rang out again, but this time in synch with a higher one. This time it was followed by several loud thuds as the two early birds relentlessly pelted my window with pebbles they scooped up from around our backyard.

"Alright, I'm up! I'm up!" I tossed the pillow at the wall in frustration and sat up.

I looked around my room through blurry, tired eyes. Another series of pebbles against my window snapped my head in its direction. At this point, those two managed to annoy me enough to get up and walk to my window.

"WHAT?!" I shouted to Brendan and May.

I was met with another volley of pebbles, this time hitting me directly in the face.

"Sorry!" May winced, not expecting me to pop out so suddenly from my window.

Brendan smirked, clearly enjoying the sudden turn of events.

"When you guys said, we'd meet in the morning I thought you meant at like ten," I explained in a groggy voice.

"That may be morning to you in Lilycove, but you're in Littleroot now, remember?" Brendan quipped and started turning towards my front door.

"Now come on, we don't want to be late," He added. "Today's the big day after all!"

I followed those two with my eyes as I couldn't come up with a witty remark or any sort of comeback to his statement. I was too tired to do so. With a sigh, I slid my window back down and turned back towards my room, taking it all in before heading off on my greatest adventure yet. I wasn't having second thoughts, quite the opposite honestly. Once I reached my closet and saw the backpack I had prepared the night before, the led weight of tiredness practically melted off of me. I cracked a smile and dragged it out of there and into the center of my room. I quickly double-checked the items, not willing to repeat the same mistakes that I had made during the Wurmple incident two weeks ago.

I checked off the items on my list one after the other, except for one. My compact tent, which I had brought with me from Lilycove. It worked on the same principle as a Pokeball. With a press of a button, it would unfold itself, then fold itself once you're done using it. The company received several lawsuits that claimed it was hazardous but those charges were all dropped, so I thought it was fine. After looking around the room for a minute or two, I managed to find it. I felt a little stupid for not checking underneath the bed as soon as I started searching for it.

"Eric, honey please hurry! Your friends are waiting for you!" My mom beckoned from downstairs.

"Coming!" I yelled back and hurried off towards the bathroom with a stack of clean clothes in my arms.

A few minutes later I was all set and ready to go. I ran down the stairs with the heavy backpack already strapped to my back.

"Wow, 8:15 and already dressed," My mom teased.

"You two should come over every day!" She looked over to where Brendan and May were sitting.

They looked over at me giggling their asses off. I felt a little embarrassed for making me wait, so I quietly walked over to them.

"You ready, Eric?" May sized me up.

"After this long, he better be!" Brendan chimed in.

If I wasn't blushing then, I was now.

"Aw come on, we were just teasing you~," May stood up and hugged me, treating me as if I were some Azurill on the verge of crying.

I pushed her off of me with a shy chuckle.

After giving us some breakfast, and giving me a lecture about what a boy my age should and should not do out there, my mom sent us off to professor Birch's lab, where our journey would finally begin.

His lab wasn't very far from my house, something my dad was really thankful for. I'm confident I inherited my sleep cycle from him. To be fair, nothing was far from our house. The hand full of buildings that littered Littleroot town were all within walking distance from one another. The only time anyone got into a car was to get to the bigger towns and cities in the neighborhood, like Oldale and Petalburg, where Brendan's dad lived. We talked the whole way to Birch's lab, speculating what Pokemon we would get as our starters.

"I hope it's gonna be something cool and fierce! Like a Bagon or a Vigoroth!" Brendan hyped.

"Well, I hope it's going to be something cute, like a Marill or a Beautifly!" May chimed in.

"As long as it's not a Wingull, I'll be happy," Rolling my eyes I remembered how little variety Lilycove had when it came to Pokemon.

After those two listed off the entire Hoenn dex, we finally made it to Birch's laboratory. He was waiting outside for us with a steaming cup of coffee in hand. He was drinking from that mug that May gave him for his birthday last year. I recognized it because it was the only mug in existence that had the phrase 'World's best daddymon!" printed on it. It had already begun to fade due to excessive washing, the 'mon' barely visible anymore.

"Hey, daddy!" May exclaimed, running towards his dad with her arms in the air.

"Slow down, I've got coffee!" He cried out to no avail.

May jumped on him and hung from his shoulders like fruit off a Tropious. Birch managed to save his precious mug by extending his arms as wide as possible, so the impact May delivered wouldn't knock it out of his hand. He sighed and brought his arms back to embrace his daughter.

"Hey, professor Birch!" I greeted him politely.

"Sorry, but I won't be jumping on you today," Brendan remarked, staring at May.

May turned her head and glared at him in silence.

"Woah now, leave some fight for the Pokemon battles," Birch said calmly while trying to pry off his daughter from his neck.

We shared a laugh before being ushered in by the professor.

My dad brought me with him to work sometimes and he gave me a tour of the place once or twice, so I was familiar with what professor Birch's lab looked like. It wasn't as big as the lab in Lilycove, but I was much more interested in the things inside his lab. Magazines littered the coffee table in the lounge where other researchers discussed their findings with each other. Beakers of various liquids lined the shelves of Dr. Green's office. Her door was always open just a crack, allowing us to peer inside whenever we visited. I saw my dad reading off some papers to one of the lead researchers next to the water cooler. He waved at me as I passed by.

"Here we are," Professor Birch stated, stopping in front of a plain-looking wooden table.

Three Pokeballs were lined up neatly on the table. One for each of us. I was already all giddy when we got to his lab, but by now I was barely able to hide my excitement. Birch had his back turned to us as he reached into a nearby cupboard, pulling out three Pokedexes. Thanks to professor Birch fast-tracking me through trainer school, I was able to get my trainer ID and request a Pokedex. Too bad I had to sneeze when they took my photo.

"You three are now official Pokemon trainers," Brich looked at us with pride.

"Now, choose your starter!" He opened each Pokeball one after the other.

Three small Pokemon appeared on the table.

"These are Treecko, Mudkip, and Torchic," He listed.

"Cutie!" May squealed and ran up to Torchic.

It tried to run away, but May scooped it up before it could jump off the table. It stopped protesting soon after May started to shower it with kisses. Brendan and I exchanged a look and snickered.

"I guess you look kind of cool," Brendan bent over to examine the Treecko.

It crossed its arms and looked up at him with an expression that said 'I guess you look pretty cool too'. Brendan smiled and picked up the Treecko. It squirmed loose from his hold and walked up his arm so it could sit down on his shoulder. I stared at the little blue Pokemon sitting on the table. It tilted its head to the side in confusion.

"Mud?" It chirped, forcing a snicker out of me.

"I guess it's just you and me little guy!" I picked it up examining it.

"Yupp...little guy" I stated, having confirmed my theory.

Everyone in the room burst out laughing, including the Treecko perched on Brendan's shoulder. The little Mudkip was completely oblivious and was just looking around idly, as he had probably never experienced the world from this high up.

"Does he have a name?" I walked up to professor Birch while the other two stood by and compared their Pokemon.

"No, it does not. Would you like to give it one?" He replied, caressing the Mudkip's head.

Holding the Mudkip up to my eyes, I took a moment to think.

"Muddy…"

"No that's stupid," I corrected myself immediately.

"How about Tide?" The Mudkip seemed to like it.

He was chirping happily and flailing his legs, approving of his new name.

The professor looked at the three of us and exhaled softly with a faint smile on his face. He had us return the Pokemon into their respective balls before handing us each a Pokedex. Birch and May embraced one more time before he started leading us out of the building. I saw my dad on my way out and decided to say goodbye to him before I left.

"Well dad, it's official. I'm a trainer now," I stated, ending our embrace.

"I'm real proud of you son." He wiped his tears into the sleeve of his coat.

"Be careful out there. And be mindful, a boy your age-" I cut him off before he could continue.

"Yeah, yeah. Mom already gave me the lecture," I punched his arm lightly.

He brushed back his long black hair as he let out a laugh.

"That's good because I really didn't want to have that talk right now," He declared and put a hand on my shoulder.

"Now go, before your friends leave you behind," His features softened and I saw a bit of sadness in his eyes.

I hugged him again for good measure and reassured him that I would be fine. He held me close, but let go as he was called into another room. I walked out of there with a bittersweet feeling. I was truly happy to set on this journey, but I hated saying goodbye.

"You fall asleep again or something?" Brendan quipped with arms crossed.

May slapped the back of his head and walked up to me with a somber smile.

"Yeah, I know," She said, hugging me.

I ended it before it could get awkward and insisted that we start going before we get second thoughts.

We found ourselves in Oldale town only a couple of hours of walking later. Time flew by when you were with good friends. Just as Birch suggested, we all went into the local Pokemart to stock up on supplies. I made sure to leave some space in my backpack for when I inevitably had to stock up on Pokemon food. We walked out of there with our bags heavy and our hopes high. We sat down on a nearby bench and discussed our plans. As close as those two were, they were bitter rivals when it came to Pokemon. They each wanted to be the best on their own terms. I respected them for it. I watched them each head in opposite directions as I stayed seated on that bench. Brendan headed towards route 102 so he could meet up with his dad in Petalburg. May decided to go towards route 103, this way she could reach Mauville as soon as possible. I sat there for a while, trying to come up with my own plan. Then suddenly a brilliant idea came to mind.

'Since people walk the routes all the time, they scare off all the Pokemon,' I thought to myself. 'So if I walk into the woods, I'll find more Pokemon!'

With that in mind, I headed back towards the city outskirts after a quick pit stop at the Pokemart for some additional groceries. It didn't take long until I found myself at the edge of the woods that surrounded Oldale town. After taking a deep sigh to prepare myself, I took my first step into the unknown.

The sun began to reach its peak roughly an hour into my expedition, compelling me to take a seat under the shade of a nearby tree. I took off my heavy backpack and placed it beside me along with my jacket. As stylish as it was, wearing a black jacket while trying to cool off was rather counterintuitive. I closed my eyes as I sat there in the shade, listening to the forest. This was a privilege that I had been dreaming of for years now. When I lived in Lilycove I used to listen to forest sounds before falling asleep every single night. The chirps of Tailow, the barks of Poochyena, and apparently the loud grumbling of my stomach.

"As good of a place as any for a picnic, huh?" I stated, reaching into my pack.

I pulled the sandwich my mom made for me before I left. I looked at it with mixed feelings. Mainly hunger. I chuckled at the fact that a sandwich was able to make me homesick. Before I bit into it, something caught my eye. The tip of the large bag of Pokemon food was poking out of my bag.

"Gosh, if I'm this hungry, you must be too," I said as I looked down at the Pokeball fastened to my belt.

I put my sandwich down and reached back into my backpack. I pulled out a small plastic bowl that I had bought in the Pokemart with Brendan and May. I placed it in front of me and poured a good amount of the brown kibble-like food into it. I stared at his ball for a moment after unclipping it from my belt, then pointed it in front of me, so he could join me for this feast.

"Come on out little buddy," I said in a welcoming tone.

"Mudkip!" Tide greeted me as he popped out of the Ball.

He looked around for a moment confused, and then he saw the heaping bowl of Pokemon food to his right.

"Muuuuwd…" He drooled and took a step closer to his meal.

His neck quickly snapped in my direction. He shifted his gaze back and forth between his bowl and me with a pleading look in his eyes.

"Eat up, it's all yours," I smirked and bit into my sandwich

He devoured the food so ravenously that I had feared he would eat the bowl itself. Perhaps the professor forgot to feed him this morning. I swiftly wolfed down my sandwich, fearing he would try to eat it as well once he was finished, though all I managed to accomplish with that was almost choking on a chunk of bread I forgot to chew. My worry was for naught, however, as soon as he had finished wolfing down his meal, he fell on his side gasping for air. The poor guy ate so fast that he didn't take a single breath as he ate.

After laughing at his misery for a solid minute, I picked him up and placed him next to me. It didn't take long before he fell asleep after his mighty feast. I watched him as he peacefully slept beside me and soon my eyes became heavy. I packed everything away and folded my jacket behind my head to form a makeshift pillow. I too succumbed to sleep a minute or so later.

I awoke several hours later in a daze. The sounds of the forest that lulled me to sleep had all but vanished. The only sound to be heard was the slow, even breaths of Tide sleeping next to me. An odd feeling befell me moments after waking up. It was as if I felt a tug on my mind. My eye kept shifting towards the vast emptiness of the forest to my right as if something had been beckoning me. It stopped momentarily, but it soon returned but this time it snagged my attention in a slightly different location. The strange sensation was soon replaced with curiosity I returned the still sleeping Tide into his Pokeball and fastened it on my belt. After tying my jacket over my waist, I slung the backpack over my shoulder and began walking towards the direction that the mystery feeling had been calling out from. The more I walked the wearier I became of the fact that there were no forest sounds anywhere around me. I thought once I would hear the calls of nearby Pokemon I would relax, but what I heard just made me even more anxious.

Several loud yelps could be heard in the distance. They all seemed to come from the direction where I was headed. A loud whooshing sound followed suit as if a large gust of wind swept past the trees in the same direction where the yelps could be heard earlier. I was about to turn and walk away, when the mysterious feeling returned, stronger than ever. It felt as if I were pulled by some invisible rope in the direction of the sounds. I would have been terrified of this situation had I not been so intrigued by whatever was calling out to me. Quickening my pace, I felt it tug once again at my mind, this time a little more to the left. The yelps and barks became louder the closer I walked towards the mystery force. I tried to remember what Pokemon those calls belonged to when I was suddenly frozen in place by what I saw no more than a few yards in front of me. I saw a mysterious force blow through the trees carrying dust and debris with it. It made a wooshing sound as it ripped through the shrubbery. That must've been what I had heard previously. Against my better judgment, I approached the source of the loud barks and yelps, and then I heard it. A sound vastly different from the gruesome growls I heard before. It sounded as if tiny little silver bells were jingling across the forest floor. It was the cry of another Pokemon! It came from the direction where the large gust of wind blasted through mere moments ago. It didn't sound like any flying type I knew, and that just made me even more intrigued.

I walked through dense hedges and I found myself in the middle of a small clearing. The little bells rang out again and I felt that mysterious force tugging at my mind again. Had it been the effect of whatever Pokemon had been crying out? Was it injured? Was it looking for help? All of these thoughts quickly disappeared as I saw the bushes in front of me begin to rustle as something was trying to walk through them in a panic. My senses sharpened and all I could hear was my heart beating in my ears as my fight or flight reaction kicked in. I reached towards Tide's ball, prepared to take on whatever foul creature would lurch from the bushes to attack me.

"What the hell?" I shouted in surprise.

What appeared to be an itty bitty pale girl burst from the bushes and froze in place a foot or two in front of me. Its chest rose rapidly from a mixture of fear and exhaustion, its dress was torn up in a few places and what appeared to be blood was dripping from its nose. Has it been in a fight? I had no time to question it as a sudden burst of yelps and barks rang out from behind the mysterious Pokemon. It clutched the front of its torn-up gown and lifted it slightly as it dashed towards me, considering whatever was chasing it a bigger threat than the human that stood in front of it. Before I could question it, the bush began to rustle as another Pokemon emerged from it, then another, and another!

Three hungry-looking Zigzagoon were eyeing me and the tiny pale Pokemon that was frozen in fear at my feet. It was a little taller than the Zigzagoon chasing it, it reached up to my knees if we weren't counting its long red horn, but its size advantage was irrelevant compared to the number of hungry Zigzagoon that had been after it. The one in front of me took a step forward, testing whether or not I was a threat to it or its companions. Instinctively, I took a step back, not wanting to get caught up in a scuffle such as this. Emboldened by my actions it took another step closer and its pack mates followed suit. The little pale Pokemon swung her arms at them as if it were expecting them to be blown back, but nothing happened. Seeing that their meal ran out of options, the one closest to us lurched forward with its fangs bared ready to tear into its tender white flesh.

At that moment something took over my body. Whether it was instinct or that same drive to find this mystery Pokemon, I did not know. I grabbed hold of the pale Pokemon by the waist and brought it to my chest, but I was a moment too slow to get away unscathed. The Zigzagoon missed its target but it managed to bite down on my right arm. Searing pain shot throughout my body as I felt its fangs scrape my bones. Running off adrenalin, I managed to power through the pain and managed to cradle the mystery Pokemon in my left arm. I looked back at the Zigzagoon still clinging to my arm, as it bit down harder, fully intent on taking a piece of me. I raised my arm and slammed the damn thing into a nearby tree. It hid the hard wood with a loud crack and let go of my arm, landing on its side. It whined painfully but managed to get to its feet. It shook itself off and barked at me visibly angry. Its buddies joined its side and looked like they were seconds away from jumping on me. Adrenalin was pumping through my veins and a million thoughts flew through my mind, but one of them rang louder than all others.

'Run'

I turned my heel and bolted in the opposite direction as I heard a series of howls and barks coming from the Zigzagoon. Even with the heavy backpack, I was able to rush through the thick foliage as I ran into the unknown. My eyes narrowed and my mind was foggy as the same thought kept playing on repeat like a broken record.

'Run. Run. Run.'

Once I was able to gain some distance from the hungry critters my mind cleared a bit as the adrenalin rush began to die down. I winced in pain and looked down at my right arm. The Zigzagoon from earlier tore into it. Several deep puncture wounds dotted my arm and a few of them had drag marks from when I raised my arm to slam it against the tree. That wasn't what worried me at that moment, however. It was bleeding heavily and it made me leave a trail of 'blood crumbs' that my pursuers would sure to follow and find me. Thinking quick I shook my arm into a nearby bush, spraying blood over it. I then rolled my arm into my shirt so it would soak up the blood instead of the forest floor. It hurt like hell but I managed to get going again when I heard the telltale yelps and barks in the distance behind me.

The exhaustion and blood loss finally caught up with me as I stumbled out of the forest and into a clearing. A crystal clear lake stood at its center, I would have been overwhelmed by the beauty and tranquility of the place had I not just been through a near-death experience. I fell to my knees on the soft sandy shore of the beach. The mysterious Pokemon tumbled out of my hold as I needed both my arms to catch me. A painful moan escaped my lips as I looked at my wound. The area around it had already started turning red. I was in no mood to risk an infection so I had to cleanse it as soon as possible. My eyes locked onto the small white object that invaded my peripheral vision. It was the pale Pokemon. It looked at me with quivery lips and gently placed a hand on my left arm in a subtle attempt to comfort me. It was a welcome gesture.

"I'll be okay," I wheezed. "But what about you little dude, you look pretty banged up,"

It suddenly let go of my arm and winced as its injuries began to flare up.

"Yeah, figured as much," I chuckled and fell back on my butt.

I managed to slip my injured arm out of the strap of my pack and slid it next to me. The mystery Pokemon jumped back, probably scared by the heavy thud my bag landed with. I quickly reached into it and tossed my gear aside as I looked for my first aid kit. I put it on the bottom of my backpack when I packed in yesterday so I could make the most of the space available. It was a good idea, but now it was just a hassle. I also snagged a potion out of my bag and placed them both in front of me.

"You first," I stated and pointed the potion at the Pokemon.

I squeezed the trigger and sprayed it thoroughly. A loud series of coughs erupted out of it as some of the bitter-tasting potions landed on its tongue. It took a couple of steps back and shook itself off. I'm certain it was now rather distrusting of me, I could tell by the sudden look it gave me. Or at least I think it gave me a mean look. I couldn't see its eyes because they were hidden behind lush green flocks of hair.

"Feel better?" I asked it over my shoulder as I reached into my first aid kit.

My question caught it by surprise. It stared down at itself with awe. The wounds and scrapes closed on their own and her previously torn dress refused itself and looked brand new.

"If only this thing worked on us," I chuckled.

"Go clean yourself off, you're still a little dirty from earlier," I said pointing towards the lake.

I watched it turn and walk towards the lake, obeying my request. At the moment I thought nothing of it, but in any other scenario, I would've been all giddy that a wild Pokemon followed my orders.

With trembling hands, I picked up the disinfectant and sloshed it onto my open wound. I cried out in pain as it began to bubble, and fizzle on my flesh. It hurt like hell, but I knew that was nowhere near as painful as the next part was going to be. I gulped and pick up the surgical needle I was going to stitch myself up with. A sudden tapping against my leg snapped my attention away from my wound. It was the little Pokemon. It was holding something in its hand or rather above its hand. A small orb of water wobbled mid-air around its open palm.

"Ralts," It stated and reached the orb of water out towards me.

"How are you doing that?" I asked, now my attention completely on this little critter.

"Ralts," It replied as the orb of water flew higher and higher until it was at my lips.

"You want me to drink it?" I raised a brow, taken back by its odd behavior.

It nodded.

"I'll drink later, I need to concern-" The orb of water flew in my mouth between words.

I gulped, sending it down my throat.

"W-What the hell?" I coughed and glared at it.

The look I gave her didn't seem to frighten it. It stood by me vigilantly and its gaze slowly shifted from my face to my wound.

"I guess no one should operate while thirsty," I grumbled and picked up the needle.

Anxiety crept back into me as I lowered the hooked end of the needle towards my flesh. I felt a sudden tug at my leg, the little bugger wanted to get my attention again, but I ignored it. Suddenly the anxiety seemed to lessen. It was still there, just less present, allowing me to focus.

The next few minutes were hell. The agony of sewing your own skin back without some serious painkillers is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. If it weren't for that little Pokemon holding onto my leg the whole time I might've just collapsed into a teary mess.

"Thanks, little dude," I gasped after chugging half of the contents of my water bottle

"Ralts," It said softly and embraced my leg.

"You keep saying that, I'm assuming that's what you are. A Ralts?" I asked, not expecting an answer.

I whipped out my Pokedex and began to scan it.

"Ralts, the feeling Pokemon!" The Pokedex beeped. "Ralts senses the emotions of people using the horns on its head,"

A bunch of data appeared on the screen once the Pokedex registered the little guy. Height, type, and gender just to name a few.

"Oh wow, sorry for calling you a dude earlier," I apologized, rubbing the back of my head.

On closer inspection, she did look somewhat feminine. Her dress would've been what should've tipped me off in the first place, but looks can be deceiving. Now that I looked at her closer I saw that the dress hid some curves that proved the Pokedex right. It took a step back, taken back by my heavy gaze on her form.

"Woah, sorry! I didn't mean to freak you out," I apologized once again.

It lowered its guard and smiled up at me.

"Hey, you're pretty cute, May would love to meet you!" I smiled and placed my hand on her head. She let out a soft purr that sounded like the soft jingle of bells.

It sat down beside me and we watched the sun begin its descent over the deep blue lake. We sat there for a minute or two before I spoke again.

"Can I ask you something?" I shifted my gaze from the sunset to her.

She nodded and looked up at me with a soft smile.

"You wanna join me on my travels? I'm an official Pokemon trainer, ya know!" I boasted.

She paused to think and looked over towards the horizon. Her lips once again curled into a smile and she looked up at me.

"Ralts!" She exclaimed.

"Yay!" I threw my hands up in celebration. "Welcome to my party...uuh,"

"You got a name I can call you by?"

She looked at me confused as if she never heard of such a thing as names.

"Right, well then how would you like it if I gave you a name?" I asked and brushed her hair gently.

She nodded eagerly, clearly enthused by my suggestion.

I began scratching my chin as I went into deep concentration, trying to come up with the perfect name for my new companion. I thought long and hard trying to come up with something that would fit. Something elegant, something sweet, and preferably one that I could shorten to a cute nickname should I ever have to. And then it occurred to me.

"I got it!" I exclaimed.

The sudden shout of excitement shocked my new friend and she nearly fell over.

"How about Elizabeth?"

What happened?:

Only for old viewers

Hello there. You might be wondering what the hell happened. Well, allow me to explain without spoiling too much. Basically, I was always planning on rewriting the canon of the first 15 chapters and dumping it all along with chapter 22 in august of 2022. But that simply doesn't work for me anymore. That idea is flawed and it threatened to erase my love for the series because it would have been too taxing to write all that in a short window of opportunity. So, I'm going to release each rewritten chapter on a monthly basis. The 15ht of every month to honor the first chapter of E and E ever written. The old chapters are still available online but as a part of a separate fanfiction. "Eric and Elizabeth the Gardevoir: Forged Memories", and I am uploading them as you are reading this, so fear not my old friend.

Furthermore, I'm actually on my way to becoming a professional author. What does this mean for the series? Well, mainly bonuses. Now that I've begun writing my own original story, which I'm hoping to publish within the next few years, I need to warm up regularly. Eric and Elizabeth the Gardevoir is the perfect warmup exercise for me. This means that I normally write a fourth/third of a chapter for Eric and Elizabeth and then begin writing my own story. This means that writing Eric and Elizabeth the Gardevoir will never be considered a chore, even when I have higher priorities when it comes to writing. Not to mention that I'm a far better artist and writer than I was back when the series started 3 years ago, so every chapter will be not only longer but more coherent and well put together.

As an even further-furthermore, I'm finally able to add in that extra bit of storyline and world-building that I was trying to add in naturally around chapter 17 but failed. So prepare for an all-new and original variation of Pokemon and prepare to meet the real Elizabeth on your travels through Hoenn!
