Hey everyone, I noticed that nobody has given me any feedback on this story. I really need some so I can feel motivated to write more. That lack is making me take forever to update. Please, reviews!
Chapter Six
Everything had happened so quickly, at least in Mike's perspective. In fact, he seemed to be packing and unpacking swiftly in a way that Jimmy could barely catch up with him. Every time the furry monster attempted to catch up, his friend was already a step ahead.
It wasn't like Jimmy disliked the pace they were at, because the faster they would get done, the sooner he could tell Mike about the mysterious entity that continuously approached him in a way that made him panic at every corner he peeked at.
Mike hadn't noticed Jimmy's awkward behavior, because he was too distracted by the big move, jolting back and forth from box to box. At that rate, the two were moved in within only a few hours, and Mike instantly began to prepare for his date with Celia.
Jimmy expected that, but he was eager to have a talk with Mike, even if they had just got things unpacked and put away for the most part. There were still a few items that needed to be unloaded, like some books and posters, mostly owned by Mike. They left it at that to deal with later.
Mike was in the shower as Jimmy sat on the futon couch that his mother let him have. He stared at the floor silently as he listened to the sounds of the shower water run. He imagined a nice, hot, soft-pressured water in the shower, and almost wanted to take one himself.
However, nothing came of interest to Jimmy. Not until he could get everything off his chest.
"No way," Jimmy suddenly heard. The voice was a harsh, deep whisper, and not familiar to him. He felt startled by it and instantly jumped to his feet before peering around the apartment. He couldn't find anything until he heard a clatter, focing the hairy monster to jerk his head into the small hallway.
"Jimmy," the voice said again, and this time, Jimmy heard footsteps. He froze in place as he peered at the hallway before seeing a slight shadow. Jimmy was afraid to even try to make out the figure and the ringly finger that would soon point at him.
He heard a roar that rumbled so loud that Jimmy could feel the vibration in his feet, all the way up to the horns on his head. He could barely breathe as he watched the shadow closely. It looked as though an arm was slowly rising, and to Jimmy's surprise, it made him fall back with a brief shriek.
"Sully?" Mike stepped out with his hands placed on the towel that he was using to dry his head with. He was cut off guard at the sight of his friend practically laying on the floor. "What–?"
"Did you see it?" Jimmy quickly let out as he stood to his feet and looked at his friend with frightened eyes.
"See what?" Mike asked curiously as he quickly turned to the hall, where Jimmy was motioning to.
"Wait." Jimmy grabbed Mike's arm and gently shoved him back. It shocked his friend, who gave him a funny look like he was crazy.
"Sully, what's going on?"
Jimmy couldn't get such a glimpse of the shadow anymore, nor could he hear that sinister voice. He sighed. "Mike, I need to tell you something. I think somebody is following us. Or, something."
Mike blinked in surprise. He hadn't disapproved of his friend's story yet. In fact, he remained quiet so he could continue.
Jimmy did his best to explain what he had been seeing lately, as well as the loud thud he heard.
"That was me, Sul," Mike replied as if he hadn't just heard anything his friend said. He placed the towel down in the laundry basket. "I dropped the soap as I got out of the shower."
Jimmy tried to think back at that sound, but he wasn't sure if it was his friend dropping something. However, he was starting to faint. Still, he was shocked at Mike's reaction. Isn't he just a little bit concerned?
"You seem tired, you should probably take a nap." Mike nearly chuckled at his friend. "If anybody got in the apartment, I'm sure you would be able to scare him off."
Jimmy couldn't argue with that logic, but he felt that a lot of strange things were happening. He tried again, explaining the strange figure that he was continuously seeing.
Mike gave him a funny look like it was the most ridiculous story in the whole world. "Okay, Sully, that's crazy," he said as he walked to the door before coming to a halt and turning to his friend. "You really need to calm down. You're stressed out because this is a big change for you."
Jimmy was terrified to hear those words, because it meant that his best friend didn't believe him. He watched as Mike told him he was going to his date with Celia, leaving the hairy monster alone.
Jimmy couldn't ask his friend to skip out on his date. Besides, he tried to remember what Mike said about him, scaring off whoever would try to break in. Afterall, it was his dream to become a Scarer. If he could frighten children and even human adults, then he could fight off another monster like himself.
He huffed before placing his hands on his hips proudly. "I've got this, just like Mike said." ANd for the rest of the time Mike was gone, Jimmy hadn't witnessed anything unusual. In fact, he read some comics and fell asleep in his bed a bit too early. Still, it was quite easy for him.
THat was, of course, when Jimmy found himself running through an endless cafeteria of terror. It was almost identical to the one at Monsters, Inc, except it was much larger and sinister.
Jimmy didn't like how it felt, for the air was thick and cold. Also, he didn't like what he was hearing. It was as if someone was screaming right in his eardrum, and it was highly uncomfortable.
THe monster continued running until he got to the counters that grew into tall walls, which caved in on him. Words of threat surrounded Jimmy, and he couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. He noticed something familiar about it.
In just a few seconds, Jimmy dragged himself forward like he was stuck in a puddle of mudd. WHen he peered down, he noticed the thick liquid was dark red, which terrified him so much that he couldn't move.
"Sully," an evil voice let out. "Wake up!"
Jimmy opened his eyes and noticed that Mike was standing in his bedroom doorway. The green monster looked confused as he slowly stepped in.
"Sully, what are you doing, it's not even nine."
Jimmy didn't know what to say, because there was no explanation on why he had fallen asleep so early. It felt like the time went by so fast it was as if Mike didn't leave for his date yet. "I thought you were going on a date," he said.
Mike walked closer. "The date is over, and–" he stopped.
Jimmy blinked in confusion as he watched his friend staring at his bedsheets. That was when Jimmy realized his bed was wet. His eyes widened. Was that nightmare so intense that I wet the bed?!
Mike, however, had a different perspective. He had been told by his dad about ways of puberty in bed, and looked a bit stunned and slightly disgusted. "Did you just have—oh Sully!"
Jimmy pulled the bed comforter over himself to hide the evidence, even if it was too late. He could tell what his friend was implying, and that was worse than wetting the ped in fear. "It's not what you think!"
Mike let out a deep sigh as he put a hand to his own face. "What am I gonna do with you, pile of fur."
Jimmy couldn't help but chuckle, suddenly not feeling embarrassed. However, he couldn't help but feel distrubed by the dream he just had. He needed to tell somebody, but after trying to explain everything to Mike made him refuse to tell him.
Not only was it fighting for Jimmy, but it was dangerous, probably for Mike himself. He didn't want anything bad to happen to his friend, or for anyone else for that matter.
If Mike wasn't going to believe him, then Jimmy had to prove it himself. That, however, was going to be hard, since he was the only person noticing the sudden presence of whomever was stalking them.
Jimmy knew how distracted he was with the new job and with his love interest that it was nearly impossible for him to notice anything. THere was no explanation on why nobody else noticed, but perhaps it was because the entity was only after him and Mike. I have to put a stop to it, he thought.
