I don't own Highschool DxD. Ichiei Ishibumi does.
The ceiling was the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes. The events of last night were fuzzy but he could clearly remember some of them.
Where… where the hell am I? Shin blinked as he rubbed his eyes. Where is… "Issei…! RAN!"
"Calm down. Ran is sleeping in her doggy bed."
Shin turned around and saw Vivi floating in the air next to him.
"Vivi! Where? How!? How the hell did I!?"
Vivi sighed and materialized, sitting at the foot of his bed. Her blue hair wasn't in its usual twintails today. It was down and reached to her mid-back. Her blue eyes flitted towards Shin, who looked like he was about to use the Zeroth Power of the strongest weapon he could make.
"That Devil from your school brought you here. It was quite hilarious actually. When Akane saw her through the peephole, I had to restrain her from using Jingwei's powers and vaporizing the Gremory Devil's Queen on the spot." Vivi waved her hand as if the death of Rias's queen was a non-issue.
"Wait… Himejima-senpai brought me back. I… I…" Shin gripped a fistful of his blanket. "I need to go!"
"Hey wait! School is starting. You need to get ready."
"But Issei!"
"Calm down. I checked on Issei while you were unconscious. You can talk to him when you get to school," Vivi said.
"Is he…?" Shin's hands trembled.
"Yeah, he is. He's one of them now."
"Dammit…" Shin mumbled under his breath. A blue aura slowly shimmered into existence around him.
"Calm down. Just be glad he's alive and not… you know." Vivi didn't continue her sentence. She knew what had happened the day prior. Shin used the power she gave and taught him to fight the Fallen.
"You read my mind, didn't you?"
"We're connected. You're my Contractor and I'm your Sponsor! Of course, I can read your thoughts and you can see mine when you sleep so…"
"Ever hear of invasion of privacy?" Shin asked, getting out of bed.
"No, what's that?"
Shin sighed and walked to his closet. He was still in the clothes he wore the day before. Thank God that Himejima-senpai didn't change him. His sister must have done a good job intimidating her. If she wanted to, Akane could probably sink this entire town into the Pacific but their parents would've scolded her for it. So he was rather thankful that Vivi was able to restrain his older sister from using Jingwei's powers.
"Are you gonna see Issei any different now that he's… a Devil?" Vivi asked.
"No, Issei is still Issei. It's just that… I would've preferred that Issei didn't get dragged into our world. I already failed with Irina. And now, Issei too?"
"You knew that those two were always going to get involved in this world one day."
"I just wish it didn't." Shin pulled his uniform out of the closet and put it on.
"Master!" he heard a cry out from behind. He turned around and saw Ran bounding up to him. She placed her paws on his leg and barked, wagging her tails.
"Ran. I'm-" As soon as he picked her up, the Inugami showered him with doggy kisses. "I'm fine, Ran. Haha, stop it. I need to get to school."
"Master! Why didn't you let me use my full power to kill those fallen!?" Ran cried out.
"Ran, I can't let you burn down the park. Come on, we're going to school. I'm gonna need you and Vivi just in case those Devils have something planned," Shin said, stroking her back.
Ran nodded. As Shin put on his hoodie above his shirt, Ran jumped into it. Shin smiled and walked down the stairs. His older sister was in the kitchen, cutting something.
"Nee-nee."
"Sh- SHIN-CHAAAN!" Shin didn't have time to react as his older sister shoved his face into her chest. She wrapped her arms around him tightly, crushing his spine and windpipe.
"N- Neeee. I can't breathe!"
"WAAAAH! SHIN-CHAN! THAT DEVIL BITCH BROUGHT YOU HOME UNCONSCIOUS! BUT VIVI WOULDN'T LET ME USE MY POWERS TO BURN THIS TOWN DOWN!"
"Nee…"
"Akane, Shin-chan can't breathe." Vivi appeared between them, separating the two.
"Thanks, Vivi." Shin coughed as he gripped his neck.
"Shin-chan, are you going somewhere?" Akane asked.
"We have class today, Nee."
"Actually, I can't go to school today. I have to leave town in a few hours," Akane said, crossing her arms."
"What's wrong?" Shin asked.
"Nothing's wrong. It's just that Tou-san and Kaa-san called me."
"So you're leaving? When will you be back?"
"I don't know. It sounded important so I might not be back for a while," Akane said.
"..." Shin remained silent.
Akane sighed and ruffled his hair.
"Stop that." Shin batted her hand away. "So, I'll see you later?"
"Yeah. Remember, you're in charge of the pub while I'm gone."
"You're seriously going to trust me and Issei not to burn the place down?"
"I have little hope that that won't happen so please don't."
Shin walked down the street. First, Issei becomes a Devil and now Nee-Nee is going out of town. I guess I'm going to have to deal with this alone, he placed his hands in his pockets.
"At least, she's not here to burn down the town to find those Fallen and to fight your senpai," Vivi said inside his head.
"Whatever, we have a lot to deal with the minute we walk through those gates. For now, we need to formulate a plan to get us through this and-"
"SHIN!" Shin blinked when he heard someone call his name. He whirled around and saw Issei running towards him. He looked more haggard than usual. Did he run from the Kendo Club?
"Ise, what's up?" Shin asked.
"Shin! Shin! You're the last person I can rely on! I think Matsuda and Motohama are playing a horrible prank on me! A horribly retarded prank!" Issei grabbed his friend's shoulders.
"Woah, woah, slow down. What happ-"
"Do you remember Yuuma!?" Issei asked.
"Yeah, I do. Why?" he replied.
"Oh thank Go- Ow!" Issei grabbed the sides of his forehead.
"You alright?" Shin asked. However, he knew what was going on. Devils were affected by anything and everything to do with the Abrahamic God. Simply uttering his name was enough to give them a headache. And Shin felt bad. The number of expletives that Issei could use had gone down.
"I feel bad. He can't say goddammit, God fucking dammit, my God, oh my God, oh my fucking God…" Vivi said.
Not helping, Shin replied.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine man. I'm just glad someone remembers because I think I'm losing my shit," Issei said.
"You're not losing your shit. Come on, let's head to class. There's something I want to talk to you about after school," Shin said. Weird, no one's here to get Issei. I could've sworn that- A bead of sweat ran down Shin's forehead. He looked up and saw her. Rias Gremory had locked eyes with him and a smile appeared on her face.
"Like I just don't get it," Issei said, sitting atop the roof access. He was waving his yakisoba pan around angrily. "Everyone. Even Yuki forgot that I had a date."
"I'm sure Yuki didn't even believe you had a date the other day."
"Yeah, but she seems to remember beating Matsuda to a pulp the other day. So me getting a date should be more memorable to her! I'm her cousin for… Amaterasu's sake," Issei settled on a different God to use for cursing, "but she and Katase didn't even remember! I even showed them a picture!"
"You should tell him." Vivi's voice sounded amused.
This is a delicate situation. Shin replied.
"Well, you better do something before Ran becomes a stress ball," Vivi said.
Shin glanced as the small inugami struggled in Issei's arms. Must be that Devil strength, he wondered as he leaned back.
"What do you think? Is this some sort of horrid trick?" Issei asked, looking down at his friend.
"I… It's complicated but… I can't tell you here. Too many ears." Shin's eyes closed.
"That cat thinks she's clever but… I'm here to detect things for you." Vivi's smug tone grated against his mind.
I can sense things too, Shin replied.
There was someone else on the roof. And from Vivi's use of the word cat, it was most likely the school mascot and target of all lolicons in the school, Koneko Toujou. Though, Shin took care not to let on the fact that he noticed her. That would complicate things.
"Right. You're right. If the school is in on this, they probably told you because you'd be the last person I'd suspect," Issei said, clenching his fist.
"How many brain cells did it take for you to figure that out?" Shin asked.
"Shut up man, I'm serious!" Issei said.
"Sorry, force of habit. But seriously, let's talk about it after school. I don't feel comfortable talking about it here." He sat up and grabbed Ran from Issei's arms.
"Riight," Issei said. "Anyway, on another topic, I saw Aka-nee leaving the student council room. What's that all about?"
"She's probably telling them that she's leaving."
"Wait, leaving?"
"Yeah, she's going on a trip to see our parents."
"Rowan-oji and Akari-oba? They're still in…?"
"Scotland? Yeah." Shin stroked Ran's fur.
"Looks like you're the only half-sushi, half-bagpipes student left in the school. When will she be back?" Issei asked.
"She said she doesn't know. If she isn't back before graduation, she'll probably transfer over there and finish. You remember when Nee-san went over to Scotland during Middle School and transferred in the middle of the year right?"
"So it's like that again. That sucks. I was gonna ask Aka-nee if she could help me deal with this Yuuma thing," Issei said.
Shin almost choked on his spit. If Issei got his sister involved, Kuoh would be a smoldering wasteland and that was not something he wanted. "Let's just deal with this ourselves. We don't need to bother Nee-Nee over something like this," he said with a nervous smile.
The bell rang, alerting them to the end of their lunch.
"Looks like that's our cue. Let's head back and talk more later," Shin said. "At work okay?"
"I seriously want to grope some tits!" Issei had snot coming out of his nose as he cried, hugging Matsuda. Issei was currently at Matsuda's house. Well, he was supposed to be at Hatch Potch, but Shin closed the pub due to a personal issue regarding the money. And that is why Issei was not at work today.
"I need to look into something. Don't get into trouble okay?" were the exact words of his friend. It annoyed him a little. What was Shin going to tell him? On top of that, Issei noticed how jumpy his friend had been all day. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
But of course, like all worries, it was washed away by porn. Good ol' porn. For a girlfriendless man like Issei, it was a comfort yet also something that made him depressed. It begged him to ask the question "Why don't I have a girlfriend yet?"
Well, not true, Issei had a girlfriend, emphasis on the "had". This just made him feel even more depressed.
"Man, I feel cucked," Matsuda said, "I bet other guys our age are railing girls right now. Gangbangs, running trains, going to orgies. I bet that's why that bastard closed Hatch Potch today."
"Yeah! I bet Shin's fucking Yuki right now!" Motohama said, flames burning in his eyes.
"Guys," Issei said, "Shin's not fucking anyone. I think he's asexual. Hatch Potch is closed because Aka-nee left town and Shin's taking the day to sort through things."
"Man, a guy like Shin being asexual gives me some hope," Matsuda said.
It annoyed Issei whenever Matsuda and Motohama talked about Shin like that. While it was true that Shin did reject every girl that confessed to him, Issei knew that Shin wasn't asexual. The man had watched porn with him on several occasions and Issei knew that he got hard.
There's nothing gay about noticing a guy getting a boner. We were just two bros watching porn, Issei said in his mind. Issei looked down at his watch.
10:00 PM
"Shit, I gotta go. I still need to study for that exam tomorrow," Issei said.
"I do too." Motohama pushed his glasses up.
"Alright, I'll see you guys then?" Matsuda asked.
"Yeah." was the reply Matsuda received.
The walk home was awkward. Motohama had said something that Issei was too busy to pay attention to. The two had split once they got to Motohama's street and Issei was left all alone. As Issei walked home, he felt energized. It wasn't normal and he didn't remember drinking an energy drink at Matsuda's place.
This must be that thing where I get stronger at night, Issei thought. Looking around, Issei stopped at a crosswalk and raised his finger into the air.
"Who decided that?" Issei said with bravado. He chuckled a little and lowered his arm. "Man, Irina would've slapped me if she heard that."
He placed his hand in his pocket and crossed the street. As he was crossing, Issei froze. A strange presence had descended on the area. It felt wrong almost. The very air stung Issei's skin like small needles. His breath hitched as he turned around.
A girl?
Behind Issei was a young girl about a year older than he was. She was wearing a high school uniform that looked like it belonged to another school. The uniform consisted of a black blazer over a tan button-up sweater. She wore a brown skirt and had black leggings going all the way up to her thigh. Her hair was as white as the moon above and her eyes looked familiar. They looked almost like…
"Yuuma."
Issei began backing away.
"Hmm? Wait a minute. Are you a… stray?" she asked. She didn't sound hostile in the slightest but the aura she emitted sent waves of terror through Issei. Perhaps it was instinct.
Issei turned on his heels and ran when she took a step towards him.
"O- Oi! Wait! Are you a stray!?" she yelled.
What the hell is a stray!? Issei thought as he ran away. And so Issei ran. He ran for dear life. Through the winding nearly empty streets of Kuoh, Issei sprinted as fast as he could. He showed no signs of tiring nor did he look back to see if he was still getting chased. It was the basic law of survival for prey to either fight or fly in the presence of a predator. And to him, that woman might as well have been a lion.
Issei stopped when he came to an open area. He was in a park in front of a-
A fountain? He thought as he trembled. "This is where…" he mumbled. Then images came rushing to the forefront of his mind. He wasn't alone that night. That night. The night he met Yuuma. There was one other person there. W- Wait, Sh-
"Hey!"
Issei turned and saw the girl standing before him. "I said wait! I asked you a question!" she said. Her tone was more annoyed than angry.
"I don't know what you want, Lady!" Issei said.
"I asked if you were a stray," the girl said, crossing her arms.
"I don't know what the fuck that is!" Issei said.
"Wait what? Aren't you a…?" she pointed.
"A what!?" Issei said.
The woman's eyebrow twitched as she waved her hand. Issei yelped as he fell on his ass, a violet spear of light embedded close to his family jewels. He looked up shakily as the woman now stood before him, a pair of black feathered wings on her back.
Wait, Yuuma-chan had wings too, Issei thought. Does she…?
"Don't yell at me or I will stab your balls," she said.
"Umm…"
"Now, are you going to answer my question or not?" she asked.
"Lady, I- I don't know what you're talking about," Issei said.
"I guess it can't be helped. There are two possible reasons why you don't know. One, you're recently reincarnated and your master is so irresponsible that they forgot to warn you about the dangers of going out alone. Two, you're so incredibly good at acting that you managed to fool yourself." The girl nodded to herself.
"Um…"
"I think the first option is more reasonable. I wonder who you belong to?"
"B- Belong? I'm not a toy! I'm a person!"
"No, no, you definitely belong to someone. Question is who?" her violet eyes scanned Issei.
"To answer your question, Fallen-san, the boy belongs to me."
The two turned around to see the source of the voice.
Rias stood there underneath the lamp. The light illuminated her crimson hair and gave her blue eyes an eerie glow. She walked forward, chest bouncing slightly with every step.
"Crimson hair. You're a member of House Gremory," the girl said.
"I am. That boy belongs to me so if you were trying to hurt him, then I won't hold back," Rias said. A red aura manifested around her, causing Issei to pale a little.
"Hurt him? Why would I do that? He doesn't even know what he is. That's very irresponsible of you by the way."
Rias sputtered and powered down.
"Anyway, I'll leave you two here to work out whatever the hell it is you need to work out. I'll be heading off." The girl walked past Rias.
"H- Hey, wait!" Issei cried out. "Why did you call me a stray?"
The girl stopped and turned around. Her violet eyes glinted in the light of the moon. "Ask your master that question."
And with that, the girl disappeared in a flurry of feathers.
Rias sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "What a pain…"
"Um." Issei looked at Rias with a confused but terrified look on his face.
"Ara, I'm sorry. Was that terrifying for you? I'm sorry it took so long for me to come and get you. I was dealing with something," Rias said.
"That's fine," Issei said, a little dumbfounded that Rias Gremory of all people was talking to him.
"Why don't we talk about this tomorrow? You must be exhausted. Come on, I'll help you get home so we don't have to deal with that." She smiled brightly, nearly sending Issei to his knees.
Matsuda! Motohama! In your face, I get to walk home with Rias Gremory-senpai!
"Are you alright?" Rias asked, seeing the look on his face.
"Y- Yeah!" Issei said, standing ramrod straight.
"Fufufu, your reactions are quite adorable," she said, smirking a little.
"Um." Issei had no idea how to respond. This was the first time a girl ever flirted with him.
"Let's head to your house. By the way, Ise, can I call you, Ise?" Rias asked.
"Y- Yeah!" Issei said.
"You're quite lively. My name is Rias Gremory and I am a Devil."
"Eh?"
Shin wiped a glass inside the pub. Next to him, Vivi was cleaning the bar. When his sister left, Shin never knew that someone had made a mess the day before. There were blood stains and teeth on the counter. On the counter, there were traces of vomit that his sister must have missed in her rush to get home.
"I never knew that people could vomit this much," Vivi said, wiping the puke off the counter.
"I should've opened today. Leaving Issei alone out there as a Devil seems like a bad move," Shin said.
"Master!" Ran bounded into the room and sat on her haunches in front of the bar.
"What is it?" Shin placed the mug down.
"Ise ran into a crow!" Ran barked out.
"A crow? Was it one of the ones we ran into the other night?" Shin asked.
"No, Master. This one smelled stronger than the other ones. She had white hair and violet eyes. I think she noticed me." Ran looked down and whimpered.
"Were you in your human form or your dog form?"
"My human form. I managed to shift into my dog form while the crow was distracted by Ise. But that's not it. The other Devil! The Red One was also there!" Ran informed.
"Gremory-senpai? So she's finally decided to reveal herself to Issei?" Shin asked.
"Most likely. I don't think this was the best way to do so. She should've done it after class. This way probably puts Issei in the most danger." Vivi created a cup of water and took a sip.
"..." Shin clenched his fist. "Tomorrow, Issei will probably meet the rest of her peerage."
"And there's a chance that Rias will probably call for you as well. You were there the night it all went down and you displayed abilities that looks like a Sacred Gear," Vivi said.
"Master, are you going to fight them? That Devil lady didn't smell hostile," Ran said.
"It depends on what she'll do. If she plans to enslave Issei, then I'll fight. I might even pull it out," Shin said, looking down at the palm of his hand.
"I guess we'll have to see." Vivi snapped her fingers and arranged all the mugs on the shelf.
And Shin was right. Issei was gone all morning. He didn't see him on the way to school. He didn't see him anywhere. And so, Shin walked to school alone that morning. Not that it was the first time, Issei had been late to school multiple times. Most of the time, it was due to late-night porn watching or homework. But, with what Ran told him last night, there was another reason as to why Issei was late.
Shin sighed as he sat in his desk. Issei sat next to him, oddly quiet. An entire day of Issei not talking about porn or ogling women was concerning. Did the Angels sound the horns of Armageddon? Was that why Issei looked like he was contemplating his life choices?
Maybe he's thinking about last night, Shin thought.
"Dude, are you alright?" Shin asked.
"Hey Shin. If someone told you they were a devil and then you woke up next to them naked, would you believe them?" Issei asked.
Shin's eyes narrowed while thinking of how to respond.
"I don't follow."
"What I'm trying to say is…"
"Are you two, Hyoudou Issei-kun and Faulkner Shinku-kun?"
The two looked up. Shin raised an eyebrow.
The boy standing before them was handsome. Extremely handsome according to their peers. This man was Kiba Yuuto. He had blonde hair that made the girls stare and greyish-blue eyes that made them swoon. He had a small mole under one of his eyes that the girls called his charm point. Overall, Shin and Issei knew why he was called Kuoh's #1 Prince. He had the looks to back it up.
Shin glanced over to Issei, who looked at Kiba dismissively.
Of course, I forgot that Issei hates ikemen, Shin rolled his eyes.
"Can we help you?" Shin asked.
The girls around them began to whisper.
"They're all gossiping if you, Issei, and this boy are going to have a yaoi love triangle," Vivi said.
"Yes, I was asked to come get you," Kiba said, smiling.
"Get lost, pretty boy. Shin and I aren't going anywhere with you," Issei said.
"Actually, it was by the order of Rias Gremory-senpai," Kiba said. His smile never left his face and it creeped Shin out.
Just how much patience does this man have, Shin wondered.
"Uh, just lead the way then," Issei said.
"Issei, are you sure about this?" Shin asked, grabbing his arm.
"Come on, man. This is what I was talking about. Remember what I told you about the waking-up situation?" Issei asked.
Shin kept silent and sighed. If he was going to go, he might as well be ready in case Rias's peerage did something.
The walk to the Old School house was a silent one. And that silence made the process longer than it had to be. Shin stood in between the two, acting as a buffer between Kiba's politeness and Issei's thinly veiled annoyance. He sighed.
The Old School House was one of the Seven Great Mysteries of the school. In Shin's opinion, the house deserved to be in there, however, a Great Mystery? This wasn't Higanbana and both boys knew it. It was just an old building where classes originally took place.
"Here we are. Buchou is waiting for us up there." Kiba walked inside without waiting for either of them.
"Hey wait!" Issei walked in after with Shin following closely behind. "By Buchou, you mean Senpai right?"
"Yes. She should be waiting for us," Kiba said as they ascended up the stairs. After a short walk down the hall, Kiba stopped outside a door and pushed it open. Issei followed him while Shin read the sign on the plaque outside the door.
"Occult Research Club," he read.
"Shin, come on."
"Yeah," Shin replied, walking in.
"Ah, this is the second one. Koneko-chan, this is Faulkner Shinku-kun," Kiba said.
The girl named Koneko looked up from her snack. Shin had seen her around the school. She was the mascot according to both the male and female populations. The nigh-emotionless girl was short with a child-like face and snow-white hair. Koneko was a bait for lolicons such as Issei's friend, Matsuda. But Shin could see it now. Her name fit her. She acted like a cat, not caring for new people, and generally minded her own business.
"Please wait here. Buchou will be out shortly," Kiba said, gesturing for them to take a seat.
"Out of…?"
That was when they noticed it. The sound of a shower. Shin had to pinch Issei's arm to keep his nose from spraying blood.
"I have to give this girl props. If she's gonna seduce Issei into her peerage, she's doing a really good job," Vivi said.
"Not helping," Shin said.
The sound of water spraying suddenly stopped and the two could make out a silhouette behind the curtains. Issei giggled perversely as he ogled the shadow.
"Pervert."
Shin turned to see Koneko giving Issei a thinly veiled look of disgust. He couldn't blame her. There were times that he wanted to smack Issei for lacking tact. If Irina was here, Issei's head would be stuck in a hole in the wall.
"Sorry about him," Shin said, punching Issei in the arm.
"Ow! What the hell!?" Issei rubbed his left arm, giving his friend a glare.
"Ara, you two are quite lively." Rias stepped out from behind the curtain. Her crimson locks were dripping wet and her cheeks were slightly flushed from the hot water. All in all, she looked highly seductive. And her intended target agreed with that statement if the look on Issei's face said anything.
"Ufufufu, they are quite…" Akeno stepped out from behind Rias. However, as soon as her eyes landed on Shin, her face lost a few shades of color. Akeno unconsciously rubbed her neck.
Shin sighed. "She's not here so you can calm down. Nee-san went out of town."
Akeno nodded, removing her hand from her neck.
"Damn, even Akeno Himejima-senpai is scared of Aka-nee. That's the most terrifying female existence for you," Issei said, though he was lost on why Shin had reassured her about Akane's leaving.
"Akeno, make them some tea," Rias said.
"Of course, Buchou." Akeno gave Shin a small smile before going off to make some tea.
"Well, then. We, the Occult Research Club, welcome you two." Rias smiled.
"Er, yes." Issei just nodded along.
"As a Devil and as a Human," she continued.
"Wait, Shin's not…?" Issei asked.
"No. He's still human though…" Rias looked towards Shin.
"No." was Shin's blunt reply.
"Right. Anyway, as you may know, everyone in this room is a Devil."
Issei nodded. That point did not fly over his head in the slightest. Rias had hammered it in when she rescued him the other night from that… odd woman.
"I feel like you two don't believe me. Well, Issei, do you remember that woman the other night?" Rias asked.
Shin tuned out Rias's explanation to Issei. He already knew all of this. His family was supernaturally inclined after all. The drama of the three factions was something his parents called a slap fight. A dick measuring contest between Angels, Devils, and Fallen that God saw fit to intervene in.
Ancient? I wouldn't call Medieval Europe ancient, Shin thought, pretending to listen. His eyes involuntarily wandered the room. He caught the gaze of Akeno, who smiled. Shin nodded in return.
Shin looked back at Issei when Rias got to the topic of Yuuma.
"Well, in short, Yuuma is a Fallen Angel who tried to kill you," Rias said.
"Wait… kill me!? Why would a Fallen Angel target me?"
Because you have a Sacred Gear? Shin closed his eyes and leaned back. He looked up at Rias when she said the reason. Issei's Sacred Gear was a taboo topic amongst his family. His parents made the two swear never to tell Irina or Issei. Even Irina's parents were never told of this. And Shin was told why when he got older.
The Sacred Gear that his friend possessed had the ability to alter the entirety of current history. And on top of that, Issei's life would be in perpetual danger should he ever awaken it. And now… Shin opened his eyes when he heard Issei shouting.
"So much for not awakening it, huh?" Vivi said.
"This just got much harder… of all the times to leave, Nee-nee. Why did it have to be now?"
Sorry if this chapter seems all over the place. Getting the introductory chapters of Highschool DxD out of the way before we get into more adventures with Shin and best doggo.
