Chapter 9: New Clues?

-With Walter And Others At The Station-

Walter sat behind his desk right after they had come back and just wanted to relax even a little bit, but Faith managed to break the silence almost immediately.

'Umm… Why didn't you ask them about everything freezing around them in the store or how Harrison just went poof in front of them?' Faith asked.

'I was going to but… that Rick kid didn't seem keen on answering that. He seemed to avoid questions but asking something himself or lead the talk to something else. Specially, when it came to Kai's brother. Have you checked the name Kai Hiwatari or Rick Jones yet?' Walter asked.

'I'm on it right at this moment and I'm going to check that murder file that happened over ten years ago too,' Dylan said while going through police database.

'Just check the names, I can check the murder case in the meantime. Faith, continue talking with other family members of missing people and continue on that case for a while,' Walter offered. Dylan and Faith nodded and continued their work in silence since this was going to take a while.

-Tyson And Others-

'Is there seriously nothing we can do?' Tyson asked from the bed. Everyone turned to him, including Bruce and other adults, and even Dickenson was there after Bruce had called him to fill him in what had happened.

'I thought you didn't want to think about Kai's stuff anymore,' Kenny asked.

'That was before but after seeing that jerk again and hearing how he talked… I don't know Chief, he doesn't sit very well with me,' Tyson explained.

'I agree with you Tyson with that,' Bruce said.

'Really dad?' Tyson asked happily.

'Even though Rick saved Kai from an attack, he acted way too proud and confident about what he had done,' Bruce wondered.

'What do you mean by that?' grandfather asked.

'Honestly, my gut feeling is telling me that it wasn't first time for him,' Bruce said and everyone stared at him with eyes widened.

'No, you must be imagining it,' Max denied it.

'I'm just thinking that Rick isn't new to someone dying and it doesn't bother him. That why I think it's not good for Kai to be with them. He looks like a good kid who is surrounded with… different people,' Bruce continued.

'What about his siblings?' Tyson asked.

'That concerns me as well. Are they like Rick or like Kai? I think we should talk with him alone and maybe even ask where he wants to be,' Bruce suggested.

'You're not thinking about asking him to live with us?' Max asked.

'Maybe sometime until we can find a better place for him and… or his siblings, depending on what they want,' Bruce said.

'Right. We'll just have to wait for Kai to show up again and ask,' Tyson nodded firmly.

'Didn't he say he wouldn't come here anymore?' Max reminded.

'Oh… shit,' Tyson sighed and got hit in the head, 'What was that for?!'

'Language,' grandfather said.

'Are you Captain America or something?' Tyson subbed his head but grandfather hit him again.

'Auuu, that hurt,' Tyson complained as others laughed.

-With Kai At The Mansion-

Inside Christian's office Rick had told everything what he had told the police from word to word.

'He's sharp as ever. Quite annoying actually,' Christian chuckled but he was clearly annoyed, more than last time, 'And we don't even have a clue where the ghouls are.'

'They might be the missing people police are looking for,' Rick said as Sara came in.

'I agree with you there. I checked them with Mike here and there are signs of our rogue vampire. Small but still there but they seem to vanish into thin air. Even the police are not even close finding anything. We didn't even bother to go to the police station this time,' Sara put papers in front of Christian.

'I'm starting to think they are hiding somewhere near,' Christian pondered.

'Near? Like an obvious place we might not even think to look for?' Kai spoke the first time when there was a serious conversation going on and others had confused expression.

'Yeah, exactly that,' Christian said.

'It's a lot of ground to cover. This is going to take forever,' Rick gritted his teeth.

'Looks like we need everyone to this job,' Tina said from the door.

'If we go blindly,' Christian stood up and took out the town map, 'Let's check our own places first for now and even the abandoned once.'

'Who will go?' Tina asked as Mike appeared to the doorway as well.

'How's Lara?' Christian asked. He didn't tolerate her behaviour but she was still part of the family.

'In her room and still sad as ever,' Tina replied.

'No surprise there,' Mike added.

'In that case Rick, Sara, Kai and Mike can handle this for now…' Christian said.

'Again? Fine,' Mike said.

'What's wrong with you? You know that Sir has to stay here since he's the leader,' Sara looked at Mike annoyed.

'I know but being leader doesn't mean he can't help. Not to offend though,' Mike raised his hands slightly up.

'You…' Sara began but Christian stepped in.

'Sara, enough. Mike has a point there,' Christian closed the map and put it back to the shelf.

'You're seriously thinking of going?' Sara asked shocked.

'I'll go in your place Sara. You stay here to keep the walls up,' Christian decided.

'Huh? Sir going out during the day? Didn't think to see this day,' Rick chuckled amused.

'I don't like this idea but I'll do as you say Sir,' Sara bowed and went to sit in Christian's chair.

'How does it feel girl? Powerful?' Tina asked smiling.

'Different and weird if you ask me. Mind searching quickly so Sir can come sit here again?' Sara was clearly nervous.

'You have done this before girl. You'll be fine,' Mike ensured.

'Don't call me girl Mike. That's Tina's job,' Sara smirked.

'Glad you haven't lost your humour. Shall we go?' Mike gestured towards the door right behind him. Everyone took their jackets and left the mansion. Kai had never seen Christian with a hood on but he had commanding presence.

-With Walter At The Police Station-

He was right about it when he thought it was going to take a while but it pained off in the end. They had general information Susumu Hiwatari and from his wife, and it wasn't pleasant.

'Two people killed in the middle of the night over ten years ago and there are no leads on who did it,' Faith was disappointed.

'That's a concern but we aren't investigating it right now but didn't they say that Kai kid has two older siblings?' Dylan asked.

'Yeah, why?' Walter replied on the other side of the room from his desk.

'According to Susumu's file we have, it says that he had only one son, Kai Hiwatari who was taken away after they were killed. He was basically a newborn baby when murder happened,' Dylan summarized the file.

'What did you say?' Walter stood up and walked to the Dylan's computer.

'Maybe they are not related by blood?' Faith suggested but it was more of a question.

'We can ask that from them then,' Walter basically decided.

'How? I don't this is enough for a warrant or anything. They can just say that they don't want talk about it and we can't push them without… something,' Dylan reminded.

'I think we have something. Rick Jones is a fake name,' Walter showed them the files he had received a while ago too.

'Fake name? Is it enough?' Faith asked.

'For something at least. Why would he gave us fake name and Kai's sibling relations. With those we might go far, near or nowhere but who knows without trying,' Walter said as his phone on his desk beeped.

'Who sent you a text? Girlfriend perhaps?' Dylan smiled.

'I'm single thank you very much,' Walter stated as he took his phone. Dylan and Faith saw Walter's smile leave after he had read the message.

-At The Same Time With Kai-

They had walked in silence towards the town and were standing on the edge of the forest.

'Who wants to go with who?' Mike asked.

'I think we all know,' Rick said, grabbed Mike's arm and pulled him with him.

'What's that suppose to mean?' Kai asked quickly as the other two left.

'Let's go then,' Christian himself headed towards the other way.

'Do you know even what we were supposed to be looking?' Kai asked.

'Anything basically since we don't know anything about our foe. It won't take long if that's what's bothering you,' Christian said without looking back. Kai didn't add anything to that and decided to watch what Christian was going to do or what he was able to do, which was a lot based on his last experience. They arrived an empty warehouse and not a small one at that.

'Does this belong to you too?' Kai wondered.

'Used to but we stopped here a long time ago,' Christian said while raising his hand. Without a word it started to glow and small wind picked up, a very small wind. The ground lightened up for a second before everything stopped quickly too.

'Nothing here,' Christian said.

'What did you do?' Kai asked with frowned look.

'With easy words, I checked for everything, footprints, handprints, blood and so on. No one has been here for ages,' Christian headed back to the door, 'With practise you might be able to do this too,' he added.

'I haven't been able to practise for a while thanks to everything crashing down,' Kai reminded.

'I know but when you find a chance to do that, even a small one, practise. We can't have you slow us down if the vision I had will turn out to be true,' Christian stepped out and leaving Kai angry.

'No one asked you!' Kai yelled before following. They checked a lot of places before meeting up with Rick and Mike as evening had fallen.

'Anything at your end?' Christian asked.

'Not sure. The only place that had blood was where Mike and Kai visited, that Erik kid and his little friends but there were no bodies,' Rick replied. Kai shivered for the memory of that day, and he didn't want to do that ever again.

'Let's start there then. Bodies can't just disappear into thin air unless either of you did,' Christian crossed his arms.

'Not me and definitely not Kai,' Mike ensured quickly with a smirk.

'Why are you smirking?' Kai growled.

'Because he's a jerk,' familiar voice said and Kai's eyes widened. Kai turned around and saw Tyson and others standing there along with Bruce, grandfather and even Dickenson.

-With Tyson A Moment Ago-

Bruce had called Dickenson who had arrived at their hotel room and listened to everything that happened so far from Bruce.

'You have a right to be worried there,' Dickenson said in the end.

'So, you agree with Bruce with taking Kai with us if he wants to?' Max asked worried.

'If Bruce thoughts are correct then yes. Sometimes, even our family can be wrong influence,' Dickenson answered and Max simply nodded. Tyson had listened to everything a second time and had come to sae thoughts.

'If Kai's siblings are feeling the same as Kai, we have to help them too, and if not, then just Kai,' Tyson said as he was walking back and forth in front of the window.

'We won't know anything unless we can ask Kai about it, alone,' Kenny said. Tyson pondered deeply before sighing since he couldn't come up a way to contact Kai. He hated waiting and what if Kai never appears again. In though he looked outside of the window and thought he saw something near the forest. He rubbed his eyes and took a closer look. Sure enough, Kai was standing there with three others,

'Kai's there!' Tyson pointed out quickly and others came to the window as well. They recognized Rick and the other guy next to him who was at the party but the third person. He resembled Kai though slightly but looked older.

Without a word Tyson left running with others yelling something to him but Tyson didn't hear it. They did follow Tyson out and soon heard Kai ask, Why are you smirking?.

'Because he's a jerk,' Tyson answered and everyone turned to him. Kai looked shocked and Tyson immediately wanted to know why.

-With Kai's View-

'What are you doing here?' Kai asked and tried to his shock.

'I could ask you the same thing. I thought you said you wouldn't come here again,' Tyson said with pointing fingers.

'Not his idea though,' Mike said.

'Who are you anyway? I have seen you at the party acting like a jerk just like now,' Tyson snorted.

'Mike if you must know,' Mike said back without backing down either. As they were having a word battle Kai glanced at Christian who had closed his eyes and touching his own forehead.

'Must be a vision,' Kai thought and how right he was.

'There's going to be more trouble,' Christian phrased it so that only Kai, Rick and Mike would understand his words.

'Great,' Rick sighed.

'Trouble? There's going to be trouble if you don't spill your name too,' Tyson began but got his in the head by his grandfather.

'Come down little dude. Don't be in his face,' grandfather stated and turned to Christian as well.

'Mind telling us your name too,' grandfather sounded more friendly.

'You can call him Chris,' Kai blurted out without thinking. It had become custom to his Christian's full name or identity to that matter.

'Chris? Nice to meet you Chris. Are you friend of theirs?' Bruce asked this time and noticed how uneasy Kai seemed to become. Christian stared at them for a minute before speaking himself this time.

'Kai's brother actually,' Christian said.

'Going to make sure everyone does what you tell them?' Tyson couldn't hide his dislike towards Christian.

'You must be Tyson then and Kai apparently likes to talk,' Christian talked calmly and with clear tone. It showed he didn't see Tyson as a threat.

'Even your voice is annoying,' Tyson snarled, 'Why do you want to control your own brother like that? He's not a toy.'

'Wow. I have never seen anyone show you disrespect like that before from anyone else than Kai that it,' Rick chuckled.

'Why would he or I show it when he's a control freak!' Tyson's anger boiled over so much that Mx and Kenny had to pull him away. Even Bruce took a hold on Tyson to calm him down.

'I'm sorry for Tyson there. We don't mean to put into your family business and what we know from last time, you have helped a lot of people in that house of yours,' Dickenson said.

'Yes. Everyone in the household is an orphan actually.' Christian said, 'And I do lead that household. So, of course I'll give the orders there.'

'His nickname is Sir there. Everyone calls him that,' Mike revealed but Christian didn't like that.

'That was unnecessary,' Christian warned and Mike backed down and put his head down. At that moment, Tyson and others saw how much control Christian had actually. It looked like that no one wanted to go against him at anything.

'Sir being nickname doesn't seem right… It looks more like a true statement,' Bruce thought to himself.

'Anything else? We do have some business to attend to ourselves,' Christian spoke calmly again.

'Aah, yes. We were wondering if we can talk to Kai for a moment if that's okay? Are you too busy?' Dickenson asked. They saw Christian look at Kai and give him an opportunity to express his opinion.

'Why?' Kai asked.

'You'll see,' Dickenson didn't want to reveal too much at the presence of Rick and Mike, and it became to look like not with Christian presence either.

'Go,' Christian said with a small smile which Kai hadn't seen before.

'Fine. Where?' Kai sighed.

'We can go to the hotel room for that. Everyone else can wait at the main hall,' Dickenson replied.

'Everyone?' Kai asked.

'Tyson and others and your friends and brother. It would be just you, me and Bruce,' Dickenson said. Kai's eyes widened since he thought Tyson and others were the ones who wanted to talk to him about something stupid or unnecessary. Kai looked at Christian who just nodded in agreement. Mike and Rick looked puzzled as well.

Everyone headed back to the hotel, everyone sat down to the sofas while Kai, Dickenson and Bruce headed to the hotel room.

Hope you liked it.
