Chapter 12: Eavesdropped

-In The Hotel With Kai And Sara-

'Family business?' Kai asked after closing the door and Sara threw her jacket on the bed at the same time.

'With that they can come up everything they want before they ask about it,' Sara dropped down on the bed, 'That reminds me. What should we tell them if they ask about it? Something tells me we will meet the police at some point.' Kai put his backpack down, layed down on the bed and looked at the ceiling.

'Why should I think of that? You seem to be a good liar like before,' Kai said annoyed but dropped his tone, 'Sorry.'

'Forget it… I know you miss it,' Sara said with sad tone, 'I do too.' Kai gazed at her with a surprised look.

-Ten Minutes Before With Tyson And Others-

Tyson was about to stuff his face with food when he noticed the missing people.

'Where's Kai and Sara?' Tyson asked.

'They are in their room. They said that they didn't want to eat,' Dickenson answered.

'Shouldn't they still eat or drink something?' Tyson asked while getting food to his plate.

'Should I go ask them again?' Max asked. He was a lot more comfortable now and agreed with others about the situation.

'If you would. Thanks Max,' Dickenson said.

'I'll come too,' Bruce said, 'It seems I forgot my phone in our room. It's on the way anyway,' Bruce stood up.

'Do come back quickly before Tyson eats everything up,' Kenny laughed as others left with a smile.

-With Max And Bruce-

In few minutes they saw the room door where Kai and Sara were staying. Just when Bruce was about to knock they heard Sara's voice.

'Forget it. I know you miss it… I do too,' Sara said. Bruce stopped Max and asked him to be quiet for a second.

'Miss what?' Kai was heard next.

'You know what I mean. Your life would be a lot different if we hadn't met in the first place,' Sara sounded sad. Bruce frowned a little and stepped closed to the door to hear her better and Max did so too.

'Meeting Marko you mean. He was the one who almost killed me and then… Christian saved me,' Kai said, 'But you're right though. Everything after that went shit!' Kai added yelling.

'Marko liked to break rules too many times and Christian has tolerance of some degree. But after the certain line is crossed…' Sara started.

'Yeah, I know. Christian kills them. He killed Marko and Jack and who knows how many others', Kai finished the sentence. Max eyes widened and he hold in his voice from getting out. Bruce was also trying to keep quiet but he did grit his teeth. It seems their brother, who they met before, has blood on his hands and seems to be even worse than Rick. If Christian has killed people with purpose, Rick might also have killed people not by accident too. But then they heard something they knew they shouldn't have.

'You have killed people too Kai,' Sara said clearly annoyed.

'Only four times and not in purpose,' Kai said.

'Two weren't in purpose and they were kids too. In hospital and Lara's little sister, right?' Sara recalled.

'Do you have to remind me? I never wanted to kill anyone but one person,' Kai sighed.

'Relax. I'm not blaming you and you weren't yourself when that kid in the hospital died or when it comes to Anne,' Sara said, 'And do you mean that man who killed that friend of yours a while back? That man who killed that black haired boy Ray?' Sara asked.

'He deserved it even though I don't remember doing it. Everything's black,' Kai said. Max covered his mouth in shock and even Bruce couldn't believe what they had heard. They had known Ray was murdered and his killer was killed too but that person hadn't been caught yet.

'Kai was the one who…' Max spoke but Bruce covered his mouth quickly just as Sara continued talking behind the door.

'It's only natural you don't remember. Ray was your good friend and teammate but… it was unfortunate what happened. It's not your fault,' Sara said sadly.

'But it is my fault! That bastard was trying to kill me but Ray… He… He jumped in the way and got shot instead,' Kai's voice was breaking and it sounded like he was about to cry.

'I know but I hope you remember that no one told Ray to go in front of the bullet,' Sara tried to reason with him.

'I was the one who caused Ray to be exposed to the danger…' Kai stated.

'You are right about that. That's exactly why I don't understand why we are here. We might as well be saying that We are, come kill us and these people with us,' Sara said, 'As soon as we can go back, we go back. Things are already too complicated,' Sara said firmly.

'They don't want me back,' Kai said.

'I know you miss the life among these people but it's not going to work anymore. Besides I'll talk with Christian and with the others. They do know that we can't be here in the first place,' Sara said.

'Don't remind me… It's not like I can be normal anymore,' Kai said, 'Have you killed anyone?'

'No. I mostly stayed at the mansion and everyone else did. Christian did thought that family business wasn't for me in that way. Which is why I handle things in the mansion or handled anyway,' Sara replied.

'Why would he think I can do it? Fucking ridiculous. Manipulative bastard,' Kai cursed.

'We might as well change the subject. Maybe we should never ever talk about these things outside of the mansion again in case someone hears. We don't want to cause more trouble for Christian,' Sara said.

'Like Christian wiping everyone's memory again or does he order us to kill them?' Kai asked.

'Wiping memory most likely,' Sara said. They stopped talking after that and it was quiet as Bruce pulled Max away. Bruce gestured Max to turn back and they headed towards their own room.

After inside Max spoke, 'We have to tell others and the police what we heard.'

'Actually Max, I think we shouldn't tell police about this but to others and Dickenson, I agree,' Bruce grabbed his phone and called Dickenson, 'You should come to the hotel room. We heard something very disturbing,' he said to the phone.

'Why not police? He's a killer,' Max protested.

'True… but he can easily deny it and Sara can back him up. They can easily deny everything we heard,' Bruce said.

'But that's not why you think we should call the police, is it?' Max asked.

'Call police? Why?' Tyson asked as he heard their talk while walking from the door.

'Come sit down,' Bruce said and waited for everyone to sit down.

-After Telling Everything From Word To Word-

'Are you fucking serious?!' Tyson yelled..

'Quiet down!' grandfather ordered.

'Are you sure you heard them say all of that?' Dickenson asked with serious tone.

'Yes,' Max nodded.

'That might be why Mike and Rick said that he doesn't belong among us… And why Kai seems to be loyal to his brother he just met since he saved Kai's life…' Kenny realized.

'I agree with that,' Dickenson said and stood up.

'Let's not call the police. It looks like Christian is in control, in big control,' Dickenson said, 'It might be because of him why Kai committed a murder he didn't want to commit.'

'Does that mean he won't go to jail if he was forced? Besides he said he has killed four people!' Tyson asked angrily.

'You changed the attitude quickly,' Kenny noticed.

'It's because of him Ray is dead!' Tyson stated.

'It looks like Ray wanted to protect his friend who he hadn't told us about yet. Besides, Kai blames himself about it already enough,'grandfather reminded.

'Why would that man even try kill Kai? Revenge?' Tyson asked frustrated.

'That might be it if his older brother is serial killer or something. He could have killed someone important to that man and it caused the man wanting revenge,' Kenny wondered and opened his laptop.

'What took you so long keeping me closed?' Dizzy asked.

'Sorry. I want to check something,' Kenny said as Tyson headed back out.

'Where are you going?' Max asked worried.

'I'm going to go back eat,' Tyson replied.

'If you see Kai or Sara there, don't go punch them or anything,' Bruce said.

'Why not? I think Kai deserves it,' Tyson complained.

'You can't be serious? He didn't want that to happen and he did… kill the bastard who hurt Ray in the first place,' Max said.

'Are you defending Kai?' Tyson asked growling.

'No… but he didn't do it…' Max looked down sadly.

'What do I care? Ray's dead and if it wasn't for him, he would still be alive,' Tyson had tears in his eye and Bruce pulled him into a hug.

'I know you miss Ray a lot and cared for him,' Bruce kneeled down to Tyson's level, 'Besides, we don't know one hundred percent what happened that day and only Kai knows and also if they know we heard them, they will either disappear or deny to very end.'

'If you are serious about wanting Kai to go prison too, you might don't want that to happen,' Bruce added.

'You don't think he belongs to prison, do you?' Tyson asked his father.

'Honestly no. I trust Ray and if he wanted to protect Kai and how much Kai also cared for Ray… it's enough for me to trust Kai and think he's not a bad person. As you said before, he's just among wrong people,' Bruce said and that seemed to calm Tyson a bit.

'True… Okay, you're right,' Tyson nodded, 'How can we know what happened back then?' Tyson asked.

'Maybe by befriending him, Kai might open up?' grandfather suggested.

'Like that's going to work,' Tyson disagreed.

'That's the only thing we can try since we are not police. Other thing is to wait for police to get them talk if that ever happens,' Kenny pointed out, 'I thought you wanted to be his friend?' he added a question.

'Maybe now I just want to be friends with him to know what happened to Ray,' Tyson said bluntly.

'Tyson…' Bruce sighed deeply.

'Just pretend you don't know anything and just act like normal. Where are Ray's personal belongings?' Bruce asked.

'With White Tigers but why?' Kenny asked.

'If Kai was Ray's friend, I'm wondering if they have any photos together or something,' Bruce wondered.

'We have free time. We could go ask them,' Tyson said.

'Today?' Max asked.

'We have time,' Tyson said.

'Are we going to ask Kai and Sara to come with us or something?' Kenny asked.

'I… don't know. Could we?' Tyson asked and turned to Dickenson for advice.

'That would help you get to know him,' Dickenson said.

'We can tell them honestly that we need to check if we can get something of Ray's as a memory,' Tyson decided.

'I feel wrong…' Max said quietly.

'Is killing people better then?' Tyson said.

'That's not the same and you know it,' Dizzy interrupted.

'Sorry Max. Let's just go and ask them already,' Tyson apologized and left running from the door.

'Tell Tyson that I will call Lee and others to inform them for your arrival,' Bruce said to Kenny fast as they quickly followed Tyson out.

-At The Mansion With Vampires-

Inside Christian's room everyone heard a sudden crash and Rick and Mike in living room were first ones to respond to that.

'Sir?' Mike knocked on the door but there was no answer. After he opened the door they saw Christian on his knees, breathing deeply with sweat.

'What's wrong?' Mike stepped forward first. Christian tried to stand up while taking hold on the desk and managed to do it. Christian sat back down on the chair and rubbed his forehead for a minute.

'Fine. Just another vision,' Christian said automatically and it sounded fake to everyone.

'Right. Did you see something?' Rick asked.

'Kai and Sara are among humans but that's not surprising,' Christian replied.

'Humans?!' Rick repeated before grunting, 'Definitely more trouble.'

'In no time humans will hear their talk unless they already have,' Christian added.

'Do you want me to go tell them this?' Mike asked concernedly.

'No need. They will noticed them soon enough,' Christian answered, 'Did you find anything while being out?'

'Maybe. The warehouse where Mike and Kai dealt with Erik, Gina and… Matt. Their bodies were missing,' Rick said.

'Missing? They were humans, weren't they?' Christian said while still breathing heavily.

'Yes. Is there a way to know what happened there?' Mike asked eagerly.

'I can easily but I need to rest first,' Christian said, 'You can try find anything you can in the meantime,' he added tiredly. Both Mike and Rick nodded and left him alone.

-With Mike And Rick-

'Is Sir Okay?' Mike said but some reason he found it funny.

'Using too much powers most likely,' Rick said.

'Too much?' Mike seemed puzzled.

'Oh, right. You have never known this. If Sir uses powers too much, he gets tired,' Rick said as he walked towards the stairs.

'I thought we can use our powers as much as we want,' Mike said.

'No, we have different limits. I reach my own if I freeze time too long for example. I think you reach your own if you use them too long but only you can find out,' Rick said. Mike watched Rick leave and glanced at Christian's office door.

'What powers is he using to get that tired?' Mike wondered and chuckled, 'Looks like I have more things to learn.'

-With Kai And Sara-

They were sitting in silence in the hotel room after their talk. In Kai's mind it hadn't gone nowhere but there were good points. Time was around mid-day as Kai drank some blood when there was a knock on the door. Kai watched Sara open the door and saw Tyson and others inside.

'Need anything?' Sara asked with a smile.

'Oh… yes, um… We were wondering if you want to come with us to visit White Tigers,' Tyson stuttered and seemed either nervous or something else.

'Why? We don't know them,' Kai asked from the bed.

'We were thinking of getting something to remember him. Since you Kai were visiting him at the party, we thought you would like to come with us,' Kenny said with clearer voice, 'Sara can come too.'

'He was your friend though. Not mine,' Kai stated. He was able to hide his tone better than others which wasn't new to him. Kai did notice Tyson get angry expression for a second before walking past Sara and grab Kai's cold arm.

'Come one. It's going to be fun meeting with them since they are world bladers,' Tyson smiled with his usual happy expression but it was forced. It didn't have natural happiness behind it like usual.

'What's up with him?' Kai thought as he pulled his hand away.

'It shouldn't cause any trouble. It beats just sitting here,' Sara came next to them.

'Fine but remember it wasn't my idea,' Kai said standing up. He and Sara took their jackets and followed Bladebreakers out. They walked few meters behind them outside and towards the buss. Kai went to sit to the back with Sara and Bladebreakers stayed at the front.

'Why would he want to hide the fact he's friends with Ray?' Max whispered.

'We can just ask him when we find something,' Tyson said and glanced at the back. Kai was sitting with eyes closed and hands crossed while Sara was looking out of the window. Tyson wondered why they both were wearing hoodies in this weather.

Things are speeding up. What's going to happen in the future.
