Chapter 13: Photo?

-With Dickenson, Grandfather And Bruce-

'They appeared to have gone with Tyson and others,' grandfather said from the window as Bruce finished the call.

'You sound really worried,' Dickenson said.

'It is worrying if your own grandson is with a killer,' grandfather said.

'I'm worried about that Christian kid. Boy is so young and already has blood in his hands,' Bruce said, 'And I don't think Kai will hurt Tyson and others since he does know they were Ray's friends.'

'I know,' grandfather replied, 'I think we should still call the police.'

'I don't think it's a good idea right now. If we can get them to trust us, they might tell everything on their own and…' Bruce started.

'You think getting them turn on his own brother would help police to arrest them?' Dickenson asked.

'Pretty much,' Bruce nodded, 'Because it looks like Christian's control is strong that people around him do what he tells them and is able to cover his tracks so well that he hasn't been caught.'

'Do you think this is why Susumu erased him from the records?' Dickenson asked.

'But if Susumu knew his son has killed people, I don't understand why he didn't tell police about it,' Bruce pondered.

'Well, Susumu wasn't really talkative with us and he did act cold. He might have some secret too but it's buried with him now,' Bruce spoke and sat down on the bed.

'Do you think we can believe what Christian said about Susumu being killed by his wife?' grandfather asked.

'I don't know. There might have been a conflict between them and their parents ended up dead. Christian might have started to kill people after that or even before and I think only Kai knows that too,' Bruce tried to make sense of things but he wasn't getting anywhere.

'Let's not think about the past right now. Let's make sure no one gets hurt again,' grandfather stated.

'I'm going to try check Susumu's past a little. It's bothering me a lot,' Bruce said, 'It's just to pass the time.' Dickenson and grandfather nodded and decided to also do something to pass the time until kids come back.

-At The White Tiger Village-

As buss arrived at the village where Ray was wrong everyone saw Mariah and Kevin waiting for them at the entrance.

'It's been a while,' Mariah said as everyone stepped out of the buss.

'Who are they?' Kevin pointed at Kai and Sara.

'They are Kai and his big sister Sara. You know Kai from the party I think,' Tyson introduced.

'That guy Michael insulted? Hello,' Mariah waved her hand at them, 'Follow us. Bruce informed us why you came.'

'If it's alright,' Kenny said as they walked towards the village.

'It is. Don't worry about it. Ray was your friend too,' Mariah said, 'You can also visit him if you want.'

'Is your friend buried here?' Sara asked Max quietly.

'Yes since this was his home before leaving to see the world,' Max answered calmly. He wasn't nervous around Sara since she hadn't heard anyone yet.

'Can we see his grave?' Sara asked. She knew Kai would like to see Ray one last time in some way.

'No problem. Could you Kevin lead the way for them?' Mariah asked.

'Yeah, sure. This way,' Kevin said. Sara grabbed Kai's arm and pulled him with her. Tyson stopped walking and watched Kai and his group disappear behind the small buildings.

'I think Sara knew Kai would like to go there,' Kenny said.

'How do you know that?' Mariah asked.

'Oh, nothing. Let's go,' Kenny quickly dodged the question and continued walking forward.

'Alright. Lee and Gary and waiting for us,' Mariah simply replied and pushed others forward as well.

-With Kai And Sara-

With few minutes of walking, they arrived at Ray's grave and Kevin was the first to spoke up.

'Here he is. Did you know him?' Kevin asked.

'Tv,' Kai stated and kneeled down.

'Right, of course. Take your time. The house everyone are at is that big one,' Kevin said and pointed a big house in the middle of the village,

'Got it,' Sara said and watched the small green haired boy leave. Kai looked at Ray's name and got small flashbacks from previous times.

'I would leave you alone but let's just say I'm little paranoid,' Sara said but Kai didn't acknowledge her.

'I'm sorry Ray,' Kai thought and touched Ray's carved name on the stone. Since he wasn't wearing his gloves he got a slight burn on his hand before pulling it away. When skin wasn't exposed to the light anymore, healing process began.

'We should go back,' Sara spoke quietly and waited as Kai stood up. They headed to the others who were doing god knows what.

'Why do you think they came here?' Sara asked as they walked slowly.

'I assume you don't believe their story,' Kai stated.

'Umm, no, I don't. They could have done this without us,' Sara said.

'Right…' Kai pondered. Tyson was acting little weird around them now compared to previous times and they wouldn't need to ask them to come since they believed Kai and Sara didn't know Ray.

'Is there a chance that they heard us when we were talking at the hotel?' Sara asked.

'Knowing Tyson, he would burst through the door if he did,' Kai said.

'What it wasn't Tyson but someone else who was able hold themselves going through the door?' Sara suggested and Kai stopped.

'Shit… Let's just keep our mouths shut,' Kai decided.

'And say we only know him from the tv and you can say you wanted to visit his grave because you felt bad for him. Dying so young and so on,' Sara said as they arrived at the town. Kai didn't say anything to that but still thought it was best idea so far.

-With Tyson And Others-

'Hello again elder!' Tyson greeted the old and short man inside the house, elder who gave Ray Driger.

'Nice to see you again,' elderly man said but Tyson didn't waste any time.

'Do you know a guy called Kai?' Tyson asked.

'The guy from the party?' Lee wondered.

'Yeah, Kai Hiwatari,' Tyson said and looked at the elder.

'Name doesn't ring a bell but I have heard about his father Susumu. Why?' elder asked confused.

'Kai is here too with his older sister and they are visiting Ray's grave. Since he seems to care for Ray a bit we wondered if they were friends at some point,' Kenny phrased the question way they didn't reveal why they originally thought that way.

'I don't Ray had that dude as a friend. I never heard of him before,' Gary said and Lee also shook his head.

'We thought so since we don't know him either but we think Ray hadn't tell any of us about him yet,' Tyson cleared out.

'Why not just ask Kai directly?' Mariah wondered.

'We have encountered him more than once and we don't think he will tell us anything without… example a picture of him and Ray together or something,' Kenny replied.

'Right. Well, Ray's stuff are in his old room. We haven't… been able to take them away yet,' Lee said sadly as he walked to Tyson, 'I think you want to hold on to his for a while,' Lee showed Ray's blade and Driger.

'But it belongs here. Isn't it like a symbol of your village or something?' Tyson protested as Kevin came back too.

'Yes but he was your friend too and I think Driger wants to be with you too,' Lee said and placed Driger on Tyson's hand.

'Where Kai and Sara are Kevin?' Lee asked Kevin who was standing next to Kenny.

'At the grave. They should come here soon though,' Kevin answered.

'Right. Let's go check Ray's room with calm mind,' Tyson's voice shivered and Lee showed them the way to Ray's room.

'All of his stuff should be here and we haven't moved anything in here,' Lee said as Tyson and others stepped in.

'Can we take something with us? Small?' Max wondered.

'We have Driger and that's enough… Although, we could try find his first launcher,' Tyson suggested.

'Do you need our help?' Mariah asked.

'If you want to… This is going to be hard seeing these things…' Tyson said after seeing picture of Ray and White Tigers on the desk.

'It's okay,' Mariah helped them look through drawers while rest of the White Tigers were in the main room in case Kai and Sara came back. They looked through books and stuff when Max found an old photo album.

'You guys looked cute,' Max said to Mariah with a smile. She glanced over Max's shoulder.

'Yeah… that's the day where Ray thought be beyblading first time,' Mariah said. Tyson and Kenny also came to look through photos and they decided to check the entire album just for one since Mariah had seen it before with others and had said there wasn't picture of Kai when they looked through it after the tournament after Ray's death. They flipped to the last page and it was the tournament pictures.

'This is very nice album. Don't ever loose it,' Tyson said and flipped through previous pages at the same time.

'Of course,' Mariah said as Max gave her the album.

'Can I see it again?' Gary said from the door and Mariah gave him the photobook. Lee and Kevin had also appeared after hearing their laughing and watched the photos with Gary. Others continued looking through boxes and the shelf when they heard Gary speak by himself.

'What's this?' Gary wondered.

'What?' Lee asked and others walked up to them.

'Do you see this?' Gary pointed a picture where Ray was with Bladebreakers during the America tournament. It was their victory pose with Dickenson.

'What? It's picture of us,' Tyson said. Lee took the album and also noticed something sticking out from the side. As he took it out everyone saw that there was actually two photos.

'It looks like Ray hid a picture. Show it to me too,' Kevin said and jumped up and down.

'It seems Tyson that you were right,' Lee said and turned the picture around. Tyson, Max and Kenny looked shocked and saw a selfie picture of Ray in front with a big smile and Kai on the back with the same look as usual.

'They did know each other!' Tyson grabbed the picture.

'Why would Kai lie about this? It's alright if they were friends,' Mariah wondered. Tyson, Max and Kenny looked at each other and recalled what Max and Bruce had heard from before. Ray saving Kai from the killer but getting killed himself and Kai blaming himself about it.

'We can now ask,' Tyson said, 'Can we take this?' he asked.

'Sure… Look behind it,' Lee said.

'It was taken the same day we won the America tournament,' Tyson realized.

'That's why it was behind this photo,' Gary noted when they heard elder's voice.

'Your other two friends have come,' elder called out.

'Wait Tyson!' Kenny yelled as Tyson left running. Looks like he's going to ask it right away. Others followed him and photobook was left behind.

-With Kai And Sara-

They were met with an elder who called others who were apparently in Ray's old room. They pulled their hoods of but didn't take their jackets off while they waited quietly when they heard someone running. They both saw Tyson running towards with angry look. Kai was surprised as Tyson grabbed the collar of his jacket.

'You said you didn't know Ray?!' Tyson yelled but Max and Lee pulled him off of Kai.

'I don't!' Kai shouted back annoyed.

'Then explain this jerk!' Tyson showed Kai the picture they had just found. Kai looked at the photo and his eyes widened as did Sara's. since they didn't expect anything to appear here.

'For some reason Ray hid this photo behind another one,' Kenny was calmer while talking.

'Nothing to say? I'm not mad at you for being friends with him but to the fact you lied about it. What else you haven't told us?' Tyson kept questioning him when Sara took the photo and examined it.

'Didn't know about it either?' Tyson grunted as the elder stepped forward.

'Calm down children,' elder said.

'Do you know something elder?' Gary asked.

'I don't Kai here but I'm sure if Kai and Ray both didn't tell you about their friendship, there must have been a good reason. You do trust Ray, don't you?' elder asked and Tyson backed away from Kai a bit.

'I do trust Ray but not Kai and his killer brother,' Tyson blurted out without thinking like always.

'Killer?' Kai frowned not from anger but surprise.

'You have killed people too haven't you?! It seems Sara here is only innocent one!' Tyson yelled back.

'So, you heard our talk in the hotel room, didn't you?' Kai watched Tyson. That would explain his behaviour easily and why they were here but it didn't explain the photo.

'Yes! Going to kill us now that we know!' Tyson shouted but Kenny and Max pulled him away.

'What the heck are you talking about Tyson?' Lee asked. Other White Tigers were also shocked.

'Short version. First, this guy has killed four people and two were small kids! Second, his big brother has killed a lot more people and even two of who lived with them in the same house! Third, he killed the man who murdered Ray! Fourth, that man original target was Kai but Ray stepped in and got killed instead!' Tyson yelled fact after fact, 'Oh and fifth, his brother kills anyone who steps out of the line when it comes to the rules he personally created!'

It was complete silence after that… Kai was clenching his fists and gritting his teeth while Sara seemed more puzzled than shocked.

'Are you serious?! You're not fucking pulling my leg?!' Lee asked loudly and angrily.

'Max and my father Bruce heard them talking and told us everything they heard,' Tyson said.

'You… is that true?!' Lee turned to Kai who had stayed quiet and had hoped something would stop them. Tyson stepped forward, took the photo from Sara and put it in front of Kai's face again.

'I'll tell you again! Explain this!' Tyson asked. Mariah had tears in her eyes while Kevin and Gary stared at them in shock.

Kai gritted his teeth before sighing, 'Yeah, fine. We were friends but your little buddies heard wrong,' Kai answered. Sara silently agreed in her mind since this is what they agreed they would do.

'Don't lie! Max heard you!' Tyson protested but Kenny grabbed his arm.

'Stop it… We both know they would deny that…' Kenny reminded and Tyson sighed.

'Let's just go,' Tyson tried to leave but elder stopped him.

'Wait a moment,' elder said.

'What?' Tyson turned around.

'Give me a Driger for a moment,' elder said and Tyson gave him Ray's blade. Then elder stepped closer to Kai and placed his other hand on Kai's chest and other hold Driger. Everyone watched them and saw Driger starting to glow and elder close his eyes.

'You have great pain inside you… You have regrets and… sadness…' elder spoke like in a trance.

'What is he doing?' Tyson asked.

'With Driger's help he's checking Kai's soul. Basically, he can if he's bad and so on,' Lee explained and Tyson looked puzzled. He had pondered about that the minute Bruce and Max had told them what they had heard.

'Soul and heart can't lie unlike our head,' Mariah added.

'You are even afraid of something… I see darkness but there's light too…' elder continued for a while before stopping and put Driger into Kai's hand.

'You cared for Ray a lot and feel sad about his death… You blame yourself about it but if it's true that he saved you, don't blame yourself,' elder said and walked back to his own seat. Kai looked at the blade before walking to Tyson and gave it to him.

'He should be with you guys,' Kai said and pulled his hood on as Sara did too. He turned to leave but Tyson grabbed his arm again and turned him around again.

'I'm sorry for yelling but I wanted to blame something for this and… it was you since you were that moment… Please, tell us what happened that day! We won't call the police or anything but tell us that please. We have no idea what Ray was doing in the forest in the first place. He went to save you but how did he know? Did you call him? Why that man wanted to hurt you?' Tyson tightened his grip and even shook Kai.

'With your testimony we can help you get away from your brother. He's controlling you, isn't he? Both of you?' Kenny added.

'Call the police if you want to. Tell them everything but you won't hear nothing from me,' Kai pushed Tyson away.

'Why would you say that?!' Tyson yelled angrily again.

'You change your attitude away too much,' Dizzy said recalling every other conversation about this, 'I'm not sure if you hate Kai or care for him.'

'I care for him! It has been little clumsy and Kai might have killed people too but I'm sure he was ordered to do them against his will… That's why I'm confused why you would deny what we heard!' Tyson stated.

'Because he's my brother!' Kai shouted louder than ever before and others looked at him shocked.

'He saved me… I can't betray him…' Kai said quietly and immediately headed outside leaving even Sara behind.

'Do you think the same? You haven't hurt anybody,' Tyson asked.

'Even if I haven't… killed anyone, by not telling the police and helping my brother cover the tracks I'm guilty as well,' Sara said, 'If all of you want to live quiet lives like, you just forget us. We won't tell police anything or admit anything,' Sara added before leaving.

Tyson looked at the photo of Kai and Ray with sad eyes, 'What should I do Ray? What would you do?'

'I think Ray would help Kai…' Lee said. Others agreed to that and looked at the elder for advice.

'It seems very complicated situation. As long as he feels that way towards his brother, no matter how evil he is, Kai won't help you if you call the police,' elder said.

'It looks like we can't call them until Kai agrees to reveal what we heard,' Kenny noted.

'Yeah,' Tyson decided to keep the photo save along with the Driger and looked towards the door. They might as well leave now and try catch up to Kai and Sara.

'Hey Lee, don't call police either. We'll take care of this,' Tyson asked.

'Sure,' Lee agreed, watched everyone leave and leave only the White Tigers into the room.

-With Kai And Sara-

'Why the fuck did I say that or anything to that matter?' Kai cursed as Sara came to him running.

'Something tells me Christian knew this would happen. He had a vision before and more than once,' Sara reasoned, 'Besides you didn't say anything to reveal us that badly.'

'Thanks, I guess but they are going to be a pain now. We might as well leave them this evening and find another place,' Kai said.

'We can do that if you want but something tells me it's going to be more difficult than trying to endure their questions,' Sara said.

'Specially if the police comes. That Walter is sharp as fuck and how did the fuck there was a photo anyway? Last time I checked I haven't taken a photo with him at all!' Kai stated.

'I thought so. The photo felt weird when I hold it. I think it's a trick to give us trouble and expose us,' Sara explained.

'Fake? Is there a power for that?' Kai wondered.

'It's a rare one at least according to Christian but it's possible. We might as well try contact Christian, Rick or Mike at the hotel,' Sara suggested and Kai nodded. They continued walking and were about to pass the buss they came with when they heard Tyson yelling after them.

'Anything else?' Sara asked as Kai didn't want to speak.

'Come with us back to the hotel. We are going the same way anyway,' Tyson said.

Sara nodded and took Kai's hand, 'Sure.' Kai didn't look at Bladebreakers as they stepped in the buss and headed back. They even sat to same spots while coming here.

'Do you hate Kai or not? You changed your opinion couple of times.' Max asked Tyson quietly but not whispering.

'I first thought he was weird and wanted to battle him, then I was worried after seeing how Mike and Rick treated him, same with his older brother but then I was angry after hearing the talk at the hotel and even more angry now when he admitted lying but… for some reason I want to help him and I don't seem to even care that he has killed before. Ray seemed to trust him,' Tyson explained.

'But Kai might have lied to Ray as well since he is a killer,' Max pointed out.

'It's just my gut feeling. Let's just go to the hotel now,' Tyson said leaning back. Everyone were quiet the rest of the way to the hotel. Tyson tried to think what to tell Bruce or anyone about this.
