Chapter 18: Small Reveal
-With Kai And Sara-
Moon was shining in the sky as Kai and Sara were walking towards the park. They were at the river where many kids beybladed many times. Kai stopped and walked down the stairs and walked to the exact stop where he battled Tyson first time.
'Is this familiar to you?' Sara walked next to him. She had different attitude towards Kai for some reason but Kai might guess why. Sara did not like Kai's attitude but she understood his struggle. And this current time with the future problem might have affect too but she clearly wanted to be Christian's side.
'It's… I met Tyson here,' Kai said. Sara nodded and walked to the river kneeling down.
'I haven't seen water this clean for quite a while,' she said and watched water sparkle in the night and show the stars in the sky.
'Do you want to drink?' she asked standing up.
'Later,' Kai sighed and headed back up. He didn't know where he was going but they were not alone. People were still outside spending their night in different ways. Soon enough though there was trouble. They heard beyblading and crying. Kai walked towards the sound and saw very familiar people, Blade Sharks. They were apparently stealing beyblades again. Kai did recall them losing in the tournament before but thought they had changed after Tyson had defeated them. Another thing that was either changed because of their wiped memories or they were going to do this anyway later.
'What are fucking looking at?' Stuart cursed after noticing Kai. Even Carlos was back with them with that same smirk. Kai moved his eyes to the kid and saw teary and scared eyes. Casey was holding kids blade that they had stolen.
'Are you fucking deaf? We asked a question here,' Trevor asked next and walked closer. Sara was standing next to Kai watching the situation but she did whisper into Kai's ear.
'It looks like you know them too,' she stated. Kai nodded for now while keeping his eyes at his former teammates. That was dark time as well on its own.
'Hey, freak! Are you listening?' Casey spoke out too.
'Just get lost,' Kai sighed. He didn't want to deal with this but he couldn't leave this alone. Maybe he wanted to repay his sins by doing this but there was no way his actions would ever be forgiven.
'Aw, feeling bad for this brat? I think you should be the one to go,' Stuart laughed.
'Wow. They really have thick heads,' Sara chuckled amused.
'What did you say you bitch?!' Trevor stepped closer but Kai stepped in front of the bigger boy.
'Is she your girlfriend or something?' Trevor got amused smirk his own and grabbed the collar of Kai's jacket.
'No way dude,' Sara said, 'If you must know, he's my brother. So, if I were you, I would watch your steps,' Sara smiled. She was little creepy with her attitude sometimes in some situations.
'I should watch my steps? I could crush your brother right here without breaking a sweat!' Trevor stated.
'In fight or beyblading?' Sara asked innocently. Little kid had backed away a little but was still watching the teenagers.
'He's a blader? Let's just steal it too,' Carlos stated and Trevor let go pushing Kai away. It took a lot of control from Kai to stop hitting back. He could easily break their necks.
'Try it,' Kai gritted his teeth. To the Blade Sharks it sounded normal angry voice but Sara noticed the bloodlust coming through. Kai's emotions were running high and anger wasn't good. it usually resulted someone dying since Kai would go out of control.
'It seems he's still not in total control of himself. No wonder he still wears contact lenses,' Sara thought and took her back. She took the bottle and out it in Kai's hand.
'Drink first before you begin,' she said with command in her tone. Kai quickly realized the reason for it and took a sip.
'Nervous already? Oh, this is going to be fun,' Trevor said and put his blade into his launcher. They were a bit surprised that Kai didn't seem bothered when others followed suite.
'You really think you can take all of us once?' Casey laughed.
'Let's see if you can show your skills where your mouth is,' Kai took his new launcher and Dranzer out.
'Blue beyblade? That's will look nice in our collection,' Stuart grinned as they began the count down. Little kid was worried and biting his nails a bit but quicker than lighting, battle had ended. Kai had won with ease, leaving Blade Sharks shocked.
'You'll pay for this!' Stuart yelled before they run off. They had dropped kid's blade as well and Kai picked it up.
'Here,' Kai said while giving kid his blade back.
'Thank you! You're my hero! You're so strong! Just like Bladebreakers!' kid was hugging Kai's midsection with big smile and Sara had warm smile.
'Okay, okay. Go home,' Kai said and kid left running.
'Do you think those boys will be back?' Sara asked as Kai took his bag from her.
'They usually do. Let's forget it,' Kai sighed and headed deeper into the park. Sara followed Kai with more warmth towards Kai than previously. She still thought Kai would need to let of those morals but it was still nice to see.
-Next Morning-
'Tysoooon, wake uuuup!' Max shook Tyson who was still snoring like an elephant.
'How can he sleep so soundly is beyond me,' Kenny scratched his temple. Just then Ruy came in, took his wooden sword out and yelled: Practice time!
Tyson bolted up literally and hit the nearby wall. Bruce watched from the door and along with everyone else closed his eyes the moment when Tyson hit the wall with a crash.
'Don't wake me up like that!' Tyson cried out rubbing his big red bump that was visible for the eyes.
'Your own fault for sleeping so soundly. It's time to eat,' Bruce said but he was laughing too. Situation wasn't serious and it was relaxing morning.
'Oh yeah,' Tyson ran to the kitchen and went to sit down attacking the bread. He ate without a worry until he counted the plates, two were missing.
'They don't eat with us now either?' Tyson asked as others sat down.
'No idea. They didn't come back last night,' Kenny said.
'Huh? Where did they sleep then? On the grass?' Tyson asked.
'There might be a more difficult problem in our hands other than that,' Max said and Tyson looked at them with confused look. The same old Tyson.
'You know… If we lose them here and don't find them, we are going to be in trouble with the law,' Max replied. He was scared and worried along with Kenny about everything. Even adults looked calmer than them.
'I don't think they won't disappear on us. Didn't say yesterday something around the lines of: As Ray's friend they don't want to cause us harm,' Tyson said. Max looked a bit happier but he was unsure.
'For a while anyway,' Bruce added and caused everyone stop eating.
'What do you mean?' Tyson asked. With careful words and calmly Bruce told them about his talk with Rick after they had left. He had pondered all night about it and decided not to hide it in the end.
'Seriously?! That fucker said that?!' Tyson shouted.
'So, it seems that they went that far,' Ruy spoke too.
'I actually think it was Rick's own decision to tell me that and warn me,' Bruce said.
'You don't think that Christian asked him? Why?' Kenny asked.
'You could say it's my gut feeling and he did say at the start that Kai and Sara should know something. That shows his intention a bit,' Bruce said.
'Is Tyson in danger then?' Max asked quickly.
'I don't think so. Only if Tyson does the same thing as Ray. Problem is we don't know what happened back there,' Bruce sighed disappointed. Max gripped his cup and gulped.
'I don't know about this. Do you still think we should do this?' Max said.
'I understand you're scared about this. Maybe even about them but the truth is that until they admit things we have heard, police is out of the question. And it's not our purpose here either,' Ruy explained, 'Of course they have to repay their sins and take punishment for it but if we manage to pull them away from that world, they won't commit crimes in the future.'
'Think it's possible?' Kenny asked.
'Honestly, I don't know but might as well try. And we do want to know what happened to Ray back there and why. I bet Kai and Sara know that too,' Ruy said. After they had eaten, Tyson and the company talked about beyblading and were at the training room discussing about it. Bruce had gone to work and Ruy went to do his own thing with kendo training. They didn't see Kai or Sara all morning but did hear some other friends.
'Tyson!'
'Huh?' Tyson looked outside and saw Billy and Andrew.
Running out he greeted his friends, 'Hey guys!' Kenny and Max stepped out too.
'How is it going? We heard you had come back from China last night?' Andrew asked with his big smile.
'We are changing our beyblades. We have some training to do,' Tyson said.
'Hah, you've changed. You didn't seem happy about training before,' Billy joked. Three of them laughed for a minute before Billy changed to more serious tone.
'Did you hear what happened last night?' Billy asked.
'No. What?' Tyson asked.
'It was Blade Sharks again,' Andrew stated and others were surprised.
'Them again! I thought they stopped their ways after Tyson beat them?' Kenny asked.
'Old habits do die so easily I say,' Billy said, 'They were stealing a beyblade from a small kid last night around the time your plane landed. Well, few hours after that,' he continued.
'Those bastards! We need to get our blades in check and go get it back,' Tyson was just about leave running when Billy grabbed his arm.
'Hold on. Kid got it back already,' Billy said smiling.
'How?' Max asked next.
'We met that kid this morning at the river where everyone are blading as usual. He's telling everyone how a blader beat every member of the Blade Sharks at once in blink of an eye,' Billy said. he was almost celebrating of the fact that Blade Sharks got what they deserved for now anyway.
'Huh! Who?! All at once?!' Tyson asked so many questions one after another that Max and Kenny had to pull him back a little.
'It's true thought. As who it was, no idea. But that kid did say that he had a jacket with blue trousers. His hair was grey son the front and blue on the back. Oh, and his cheeks had blue shark fins or something and he had blue beyblade and his sister was there too. Kid called described her as an angel,' Billy explained the rest. Then he noticed Tyson and others gaze at him with surprised eyes.
'What?' Billy asked puzzled.
'Kai!' all three of them yelled.
'Who is Kai?' Andrew asked frowning.
'Did you read the news when we came back? Kai is that person who Tyson showed there,' Kenny answered.
'Oh, that guy,' Billy snapped his fingers, 'Sounds like he's super strong blader too.'
'Obviously. I already kind of battled him and according to the chief here, he was holding back or something,' Tyson pointed at Kenny.
'Holding back?' Billy asked.
'I analysed their battle until they stopped and results say that he was at Tyson's level right away. And Tyson has Dragoon in his bey too,' Kenny said.
'Do you think he might have bit-beast too or something? No normal bey can stand against one with beast in it?' Andrew asked.
'Hey Dizzy. What do you think?' Kenny asked.
'I would say so. There is some kind of power in it clearly,'Dizzy answered and showed them the video clip of the fight.
'Wow. Even I can tell he's holding back there… and your concentration is bad as ever,' Andrew smirked.
'Hey! All Stars distracted me,' Tyson said right back.
'That IS called not concentrating,' Dizzy said. Everyone else laughed expect Tyson who had small blush on his cheek.
'I know! Let's go the river and blade there. Maybe we see Kai and Sara there too if they walk past there or something,' Tyson suggested.
'That's a good idea. I agree on that,' Max smiled nodding. Even though he still felt uncomfortable about Kai and Sara but seeing them care for a kid like that was nice to hear.
'Sara? Is that his sister's name or something?' Billy asked curiously.
'Yeah. A fucker is… umm, they have a big brother too but he stayed in China,' Tyson blurted out and soon realised his mistake at the start. He needed to be careful with his words.
'Big family there. Can we come along too?' Andrew asked. Tyson agreed immediately and pulled both of Billy and Andrew with him towards the river with Max and Kenny running behind them.
They soon arrived at the river and saw kids practising. Just like when they first one in China a months ago. They still remembered Bladebreakers winning the whole thing.
'I wish Ray would see this,' Tyson said sadly but with a small smile.
'I think he does,' Andrew appeased Tyson a bit. Tyson wiped his tear away nodding and jumped down the stairs. Many kids wanted to fight against him immediately and their plan of practice changed to teaching kids and having fun.
-In The Evening-
They had battled entire day and right now, kids were watching Tyson and Max blading and testing each other's strengths. Sun was halfway down in the horizon as battle continued.
And indeed, Kai and Sara were walking closer and noticed Tyson and others.
'Looks like they are having fun,' Sara said but didn't get an answer. Ever since they had gone to the Japan, things been quiet, and according to Rick, even at the mansion but it has been just one day. Rick had texted them earlier and informed them of the next step, waiting. Everything was on hold at their end at least but people had disappeared again but not as many.
Kai didn't like that they had decided to wait. It would definitely result casualties but he was brushed off again because of the fact they weren't humans anymore and shouldn't care. Christian, Mike, Tina, Rick and Lara were the ones who didn't care about human lives but about themselves, which kind of made sense considering what everyone was. Kai wasn't sure about Sara but he could guess she would be on Christian's side either way.
That message brought the feeling of isolation to Kai again. It did brought memories of how he tried to push Tyson and others away also on purpose, didn't help the matter. Now, he was alone but it didn't feel right.
Kai watched Tyson and Max blade with happy faces when Sara tapped his shoulder. She didn't have mind reading abilities but was still able to know what Kai was thinking.
'I think I have said it before. You never know what you will lose until you lose it. You do care for them in your own way,' Sara said.
'Alright, fine. I'm just not good at making friends or any other social life,' Kai admitted. He glanced at the sun and he couldn't wait for it go down. Jackets were pain in the ass.
'Hey! Come here!' Kai heard Kenny's voice call out and saw him waving at them. Tyson joined him too with a happy smile. Kai didn't move at first but Sara took his arm and pulled him with her. Kai recognized Billy and Andrew too among the kids.
'I guess that's Kai then?' Billy asked.
'Yeah. These are Billy and Andrew,' Tyson introduced after Kai had standing in front of everyone.
'I heard you helped a little kid. Thanks for that. Those jerks were Blade Sharks and give this neighbourhood a bad reputation,' Andrew said.
'We heard about that too! You're awesome!' Tyson grabbed Kai's wrist, 'Let's have a proper match too.'
'Huh?' Kai was surprised and pulled his arm away, 'No, thanks.'
'Oh, come on. You beat those jerks so easily and hold back during our battle. Pretty please,' Tyson was begging now and even fans around them were chanting for the battle.
'Just go for it. Don't go all out if you know what I mean,' Sara encouraged.
'Even your sister says it. Please,' Tyson took Kai's hand again. Kai watched Tyson for a moment and even felt Dranzer's warmth in his pocket.
'Fine,' Kai sighed deeply but they did hear a growl.
'Awesome!' Tyson was happy.
'I think you need bigger dish,' Andrew said and took the small plastic one away. They replaced it with a little bigger one made from harder material. Tyson and Kai prepared themselves and were in starting positions.
'3… 2… 1 and let it rip!' and the battle began. Right from the start Tyson went on full attack.
'Dragoon! Go!' Tyson yelled. Kai simply took the hit and countered it.
'This is already so awesome!' Billy said in disbelief. There was no way that Kai didn't have a bit beast too. They attacked and dodged each other for a while and didn't notice Blade Sharks watching from the bridge. Expect Sara did but she simply smiled and kept holding onto her and Kai's bags.
Kai could see Tyson getting irritated, maybe from the fact that Kai wasn't an easy opponent.
'Come on Dragoon!' Tyson called out and soon enough Dragoon came out. Tyson was not kidding around.
'It's Dragoon! Cool!' small kids called out. They hadn't seen Dragoon this close before.
'You really want to do this, don't you?' Kai asked calmly.
'Oh yeah! Don't hold back either,' Tyson said confidently.
'As you wish,' Kai closed his eyes before opening them again, 'Dranzer!'
'Look!' Billy said quickly. Everyone saw Kai's beyblade shine and fire came out. And soon enough, big fire phoenix came out and right at Dragoon's hight.
'What is that?!' Tyson asked shocked. They did expect for a bit beast but didn't know what kind.
'Hold on Tyson!' Kenny said as Dizzy analysed Dranzer for a second.
'Chief. You better hold on to your trousers. That bit beast Dranzer is no joke!' Dizzy stated.
'I can see that!' Tyson called out. Dranzer looked strong and most of all, beautiful.
'Hey! Don't get distracted!' Kai called out like in China.
'Right, sorry! Dragoon!' Tyson said and battle continued. Everyone watched how Dragoon and Dranzer went at each other for a while and then it came down to final attack. Tyson and Kai called their bit beasts at the same time. Their blades clashed and result was surprise for everyone. Kids were cheering for Tyson and expected current champion to win. But it was Dragoon who flew off from the dish and on the ground. Dranzer was still spinning calmly.
'Did you hold back or something?!' finally one kid asked after eery silence.
'No! This just means that world is full of bladers who weren't at the tournament last time,' Tyson answered smiling. Little kids smiled back and congratulated Kai for his win and began asking questions about his bit beast and training style. But luckily it was late and small kids began to leave.
'That was cool. Where is that bit beast from?' Tyson repeated one of kids' questions.
'Well, I… I have always had him,' Kai answered.
'Can you train us?' Tyson asked next.
'What?' Kai frowned and looked at Tyson, maybe with little anger.
'Don't get angry. You are awesome and strong. I want to learn and get stronger. You know,' Tyson explained, 'Please.'
'Don't get head for yourself. Fix your concentration first,' Kai stated unintentionally but that did push Tyson away.
'Alright! Once that's done, will you teach me then?' Tyson asked.
'I don't know,' Kai said and grabbed Dranzer.
'Oh, come on man,' Tyson was disappointed but still, others laughed.
'He did gave you one thing to do to improve your skills,' Andrew reminded.
'Right! We can practice that together too,' Tyson said firmly. Kai looked at Tyson puzzled but did back away next to Sara.
'Did you enjoy that?' Sara asked him.
'Well, kind of. Not by myself this time,' Kai answered.
'But you did give them motivation to practice,' Sara nodded towards Tyson and others who were already planning their practices.
'Tyson is little rusty,' Kai admitted watching Tyson's moves more closely than he gave it credit for.
'Maybe you should help them little bit then. We got time,' Sara said.
'You too,' Kai sighed, 'Did they forget what they know about us already?'
'No, they didn't. Why do you think that is?' Sara answered with neutral expression.
'Why would I know that?' Kai asked.
'You really are idiot sometimes. Admit it. I'll tell you then,' Sara started, 'They clearly want to befriend you despite knowing what you have done. And in result you might admit everything to them what they have heard, they call police, help you get through jail time and welcome you back after that.'
'Of course. It's just like them,' Kai sighed annoyingly. He wasn't pissed about their little plan but more annoyed about the fact that they wouldn't just leave him alone. it would just bring more trouble. Not to forget the situation back in the mansion where everyone were waiting for ghouls to appear.
'They are good people…' Sara whispered at the end. Kai turned to Sara and was surprised to see sad look her face.
'Um… Sara?' Kai pondered. He didn't register others walking closer to them after noticing they had backed away from them.
'I'm sorry Kai,' Sara said and bowed down ninety degrees.
'What the fuck are you doing?' Kai asked and others looked confused as well.
'Is something wrong? Did something happen?' Tyson asked.
'If it wasn't for Marko… things would be very different,' Sara spoke. It looked like she was the one spilling the beans first.
'Marko? Who is that?' Tyson asked but got poked by Kenny. It was a sign to shut up and stay out of their conversation.
'It's okay,' Sara said to Kenny, 'Marko is… was living with us as you know but he's dead now.' She avoided the words killed and murdered. Sara could guess they have listened to more of their talks with Rick or someone else than they have revealed. It was obvious and they couldn't hide it well. Not from her anyway since she could hide herself.
'Why did you say sorry there?' Billy putted in next.
'Does everyone need to know that?' Kai thought but let it be. Might as well tell them things as gifts or something for their plan.
'Let's just say he and his friend hurt Kai big time and if it wasn't for our big brother, they would have continued to do so,' Sara answered.
'He killed them obviously but what did they do?' Tyson thought and bit his lip.
'What did they do?' Billy asked. Kai recalled their touch, hands…
'Don't answer that!' Kai shouted.
Sara nodded quickly, 'The point is that our big brother stepped in and save Kai from them the last minute'.
'I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up unpleasant memories,' Billy replied quickly while waving his hands in front of him.
'Forget it. They are dead and they better stay that way,' Kai growled and left the group, running. Others decided to leave as well. Sara walked along with them towards the dojo.
'That was new,' Tyson said while they were walking. Billy and Andrew were still with them too.
'It's very touchy subject. Do you really want to know what they did?' Sara asked.
'Should you even tell us that? Wouldn't Kai be angry about it?' Andrew asked.
'I agree with Andrew here,' Kenny said.
'It's fine. You would find out about it eventually,' Sara said and stopped walking.
'Tyson and others here know that we live on our own with other friends in China and that our big brother is kind of command there,' Sara began since two of them didn't know the basics yet.
'Really? I would like to live on my own too,' Billy dreamed out loud.
'I take it this Marko was one of them?' Andrew asked and Tyson nodded.
'We only that he died by… that thing,' Tyson coughed. He really had trouble keeping his mouth shut. He sometimes wanted to blurt out how they died by Christian's hand.
'Right,' Sara narrowed her eyes but ignored the comment.
'What did Marko do?' Max asked.
'Kai had been living with us only few days and Marko… he and his friend Jack, they…' Sara founded surprisingly difficult to say. She had seen the first sign the very first day but did not see the end result. Others were quiet and waited patiently.
'They raped him,' Sara finally managed to say it.
'They what?!' Tyson was shocked. He didn't expect that at all and pondered Kai's words from the hotel.
'Did your brother then… he…' Max's words stuttered.
'He caught them red-handed when they were going to rape Kai again. After that they were out of chances and our brother kicked them out,' Sara nodded. She knew Tyson and other had heard about the fact Christian had killed them and now they knew why.
'Sorry… I… We…' Tyson tried to say something but Sara raised her hand.
'I'm going to find my little brother. Enjoy your day,' Sara said and went on her own way.
'Never would have thought…' Andrew pondered. Everyone decided it was time to go home and leave the conversation between them. Max and Kenny went to their own places and Tyson returned to the dojo and saw Bruce and Ruy talking in the living room.
'Something wrong?' Bruce asked. Tyson told them what had happened today and even what Sara had told them.
'Seriously?' Bruce looked at Tyson shocked.
'I don't think she was lying,' Tyson said, 'I knew people had done Kai wrong in that house and even Christian tries to control his actions and so on. But the fact that Christian killed two of their own because they had raped his own little brother…'
'It seems that under that cold posture and attitude what we saw last time, is very caring big brother who doesn't want anyone to hurt his own family members,' Bruce finished the sentence.
'I'm confused as fuck!' Tyson stated and Ruy hit him with the kendo sword again, 'It's like Christian doesn't care for human lives and kills pretty much anyone but then we hear about this! Like what the hell?'
'I'm with you there. If I recall right, Christian told me that Susumu didn't treat them well either…' Bruce recalled.
'Do you think Christian helped his sister and found about Kai later? And then took him in and they continued with their business?' Ruy asked and confusing the situation again.
'I think that in any case, Christian killed someone in very early age. But he doesn't seem someone who would kill just like that but only if someone hurts his family members or friends,' Bruce pondered.
'Are you saying that he's good person or something?' Tyson asked frowning.
'There are many goodhearted people who have killed someone else. I think that after the first kill, he didn't get the right help and continued doing it. If what we hear from him and Sara is true, it suggest that Christian isn't bad as much as we thought. He just hasn't seen good in people and does the most awful thing to someone if he, Kai or Sara gets hurt,' Bruce spoke.
'Do you think that their big brother can also be redeemed or something? Put on the right path?' Ruy asked.
'I believe in second chances in live. I think we should give Christian that chance too. My opinion of him changed a little bit after hearing about Marko. You?' Bruce asked.
'No idea. I don't still like it how much he needs to control them or anyone else. He doesn't seem the type to change his way,' Tyson replied.
'He might need a lot more time. Anyway, we can discuss this later too,' Bruce stood up and headed to the bathroom. Somethings might be clear or not. There was a lot going on there and Kai was hiding deep pain. it was surprising to see how well he goes through live though among his own pain and with those threatening controlling bastards.
