Chapter 21: Vampires Needed?

-With Tyson And Rick-

'Shit… Slow down, would you?' Tyson panted and finally Rick stopped while letting go off Tyson's hand.

'I can't… run anymore,' Tyson fell on his ass panting and sweating, 'Jerk. I'm human, unlike you.'

'That's not actually news to me kid,' Rick crossed his arms and glanced at the direction where they had come from, 'You can continue sitting down but I would run if I were you,' he continued and Tyson turned around. More ghouls were coming and they were as faster as before.

'Damn. Don't those things ever get tired?! Can't you just zap them away or something,' Tyson questioned angrily but he was trying to hide his fear.

'No and no. I can stop time and run fast but not "zap" them away. Get up already!' Rick pulled Tyson up by his collar and pulled him with him while running.

'Are you running or jogging?!' Rick asked as he felt Tyson slow down pace soon after they had begun running.

'I'm fucking running you moron!' Tyson tried to keep up with Rick but found it impossible.

'Hey!' Tyson yelled when Rick suddenly pulled him over his shoulder and continued running.

'Holy shit!' Tyson gripped Rick's jacket as they ran through the alley faster than sonic or something. At the end of the alley Rick jumped up to some stairs and windows to go to the roof. There he dropped Tyson down and walked to the edge of the roof. Tyson looked around baffled and stood up.

'Are you all that fast?' Tyson asked curiously.

Rick looked at Tyson with narrowed eyes again but decided to answer, 'Pretty much. Sir and Kai are faster than me though. The speed is not the same for everyone.'

'W… wow,' Tyson rubbed his neck and watched Rick kneel down on one knee and look down. Tyson walked closer and also lowered himself and saw a horrific sight. Ghouls were everywhere, killing people and some people fleeing for their lives.

'Can't we seriously help them or something?' Tyson asked.

'No. Unless you want to die too,' Rick stood up and took his phone out.

'I… you… Never mind,' Tyson didn't even try to argue. It would be useless to try it with Rick anyway. He was murderous freak who didn't care for human lives. Why would Tyson even ask him that since the answer was the most obvious one. Tyson watched Rick try call someone couple of times before call went through.

'Sir, you there? Right,' Rick began and Tyson glared harder this time. He was glad that Christian had saved his younger brother more than once but it didn't help the fact that he was the same as Rick, not care for human rights and his manipulative nature. But if he was the leader of these vampires, it meant that he was strongest one out of everyone and surely needed for now anyway.

'It looks like situation in there has also worsened. What's the plan?' Rick asked and nodded before closing the phone.

'What did he say?' Tyson asked.

'I better say it once everyone is near earshot. Then I don't have to repeat myself,' Rick said and stretched his arm out.

'What?' Tyson wondered before glancing down, 'Jump? No fucking way!'

'Unless you can go down on your own, there is no other choice,' Rick pulled his arm back. Tyson sighed closing his eyes before nodded agreeing. This time he climb onto Rick's back and kept a tight hold when Rick literally jumped down. Tyson couldn't help but scream but that brought ghouls attention even more.

'Can you shut up for one fucking second?!' Rick asked picking up the pace and running towards the other buildings. He needed to get back to the BBA building but he wasn't sure how to get there without bringing ghouls there too.

'That's easy for you to say!' Tyson yelled as they passed ghouls in lightning speed.

-At The Same Time With Kai And Kenny-

Kai had disappeared along with Kenny to other building in different direction too. Unlike Tyson Kenny was keeping his mouth shut by his own hands since they were hiding in a dark place. Kai watched outside of the window to the darkness and saw ghouls walking past them. After few minutes they were alone and Kai backed away from the window.

'You can breathe now,' Kai said. Kenny peeked outside first and then relaxes his hands.

'Thank you,' Kenny said.

'For what?' Kai didn't even turn to Kenny while speaking.

'Aa… for saving me. Many would think you as heartless person if they would hear about that past of yours… you know?' Kenny tried to explain.

'Whatever,' Kai stated before going back to the window and taking his phone out. He could try calling or texting Sara first since Rick and Tyson had fallen back even earlier.

'Something wrong?' Kenny asked. Kai's blunt emotionless answer seemed familiar somehow. It's like he had heard it before from somewhere.

'Let's just get back to the BBA safely,' Kai said and texted Sara that he and Kenny were alright for now.

'Just… I'm not put my nose into people's business but can you answer the question. You are aware what Rick told us, right? About Ray and about your sexual assault?' Kenny asked.

'What's your point?' Kai asked annoyed but kept his calm up. He needed to keep his emotions in check now more than ever.

'Since you know the purpose of us mostly asking you and Sara to come here was to… befriend you so we could help you leave your big brother and those other guys who seem to enjoy killing humans. You have said it to yourself that you hate him and wanted to be left alone many times,' Kenny began. Kai didn't turn his head but he was listening to Kenny.

'Of course, now we know why you couldn't be left alone first and… Ray treated you as a friend. We have seen the picture of you two. But because of those incidents you had to give up a lot. I mean, we understand that he's your brother but why stay with him. Even if he couldn't be judged by the law like a normal human but you could stay away. Tyson would ask you to stay with us even and even wants to. Didn't Ray think of this same thing?' Kenny continued.

'Do you have a carboard brain or something? The answer is obvious,' Kai growled when Sara finally texted back.

'And I'm sure that you being a nightwalker won't be a problem. Maybe get you some animal blood to drink or something?' Kenny asked.

'Just fucking stop it. Even if that was true I just can't… I can't do it. Christian might be the world's biggest manipulative bastard, idiot… whatever. But he has been right all along,' Kai stated firmly.

'Right? How?' Kenny asked puzzled.

'Alright since you want to know,' Kai sighed, 'From the very beginning, right after he turned me, I was told to stay away from humans and specially from my… teammates. But I didn't listen and wanted to compete in the tournament,' he continued. Kenny listened calmly and waited for Kai to continue.

'And where that ended? Ray was killed because of my stupidity!' Kai shouted the very first time around someone else that Sara or others.

'You blame yourself?' Kenny asked.

'If I just had stayed away… no one would have died by my hand back there or you wouldn't be in this mess now,' Kai added quietly. Kenny didn't know what to say. Everyone knew that Ryder had shot Ray because he was trying to kill Kai instead but Ray had protected him. And still Kai blamed himself for it and even if he was right, he shouldn't be living with someone he hates. It's not good for his health either way.

'Look, you don't actually know that. Anything could happen but no one knows the future,' Kenny said.

'And that's where you are wrong. Didn't Rick tell you or did you forget? About his abilities?' Kai asked while laughing but the laugh sounded dry.

Kenny looked confused for a moment before he realised what he had said, 'That Christian can see the future…'

'Right on the money,' Kai snapped his fingers, 'It can happen on its own or he can choose when to see the future. He. Could. See. Everything. Including Ray's death even before it happened!'

'Wha… Why didn't he do anything or you if you knew that?!' Kenny was shocked. Why didn't they realize this the once they had heard about Christian's ability.

'Because I didn't fucking know! And that bastard wants things to move on their own and go to their own fate or something and not intervene. You know what? He even knew about the ghouls appearing and decided to allow this to happen!' Kai dropped the bomb. Kenny fell backwards from shock. Kenny recalled what Sara had told them about Christian saving Kai twice and so on but every other thing seemed to weight a lot more and all the good things about him were forgotten or crossed over.

'Great. Thanks to you I lost my temper and now we have ghouls here!' Kai shouted before calming himself again, 'No, forget it. It's not your fault. Let's go.'

Kenny nodded and followed Kai to the other side of the building. They had to leave the place now but luckily there weren't many ghouls around. Kenny glanced at Kai with sad eyes couple of times. They seriously needed to get Kai away from his brother. Rick had told them that Kai held onto his morals which was actually a good thing for a human but for vampire, not so much. Maybe that's why Kai was always on the edge on things and seemed conflict others in the mansion.

-With Max And Others-

'What did you say?!' Bruce yelled and grabbed Sara's shoulders.

'Kai just texted me and wrote that he and Kenny are alright. As for Rick and Tyson, they are fine too,' Sara said.

'That's good,' Bruce quickly let go off Sara's arms.

'Are they coming here?' Max asked.

'Probably but they need to shake the ghouls off first,' Sara said as the same officer from and Dickenson came.

'I heard what you just said. That's good idea on their part,' Dickenson said.

'And the officer?' Bruce asked.

'Well, we checked the names you gave us and it seems like those two kids, this Kai Hiwatari and her are needed by the police in China. But given the circumstance we can't do anything about it and their travel here seems to approved too,' officer explained.

'We did call the police in China about it,' Dickenson added.

'Yes, we know. Problem here is that there is no record of Sara Queens. Kai Hiwatari was found and it seemed that he's involved in something that needs to be checked. Details are hidden since we don't have authority to get the details from China's police,' officer said.

'Fake last name?' Ruy pondered like it was no surprise to hear. Sara kept a firm stance and it was clear she wouldn't move from it either.

'We think so this is the case but as I said, nothing can be done for now but if I were you, I would keep a low profile here,' officer said before leaving.

'What happens if they find about the investigations in China or something? You know, those conversations we have heard from you for example,' Max asked Sara.

'No idea and there is no hurry. Ghouls are the problem now,' Sara said and sat back down.

'I agree with the officer,' Bruce said. Others turned to him and saw him watching Sara with calm but worried expression.

'If people here would know what you are, it would cause a panic and that's not needed right now,' Bruce whispered.

'What they are? What do you mean?' Dickenson asked.

'Ooh… Well, you see,' Max began but Bruce placed his hand on Max's shoulder.

'You kids stay here and I'll talk with Mr. Dickenson first in private if it's possible,' Bruce said.

'We can talk in my office. It's empty,' Dickenson said and walked away with Bruce.

'I thought he wanted to keep this quiet,' Max said. Sara simply shrugged and took her phone out. Her expression did change into concern. Christian had texted her informing that he had told Rick about what to do next. Max and Ruy sat down and watched officers cover windows and dim the lights. They needed to hide their presence from the monsters but it had other effect as well. People got scared more but officers managed to calm them down.

-With Dickenson and Bruce-

'Why did you wanted to see me in private Bruce Dickenson asked after Bruce had closed the door.

'You asked me a question and I fear that answering to it in public would cause more panic if people inside heard it,' Bruce answered quietly. He feared that someone would be eavesdropping.

'What do you mean?' Dickenson asked.

'Everything I told you before is true but I did leave maybe the biggest part out. It explains actually a lot and answers the question why Kai was watched by his siblings and even told to give up on his dream and leave his friends,' Bruce began. This was going to sound impossible but hopefully Dickenson would believe him. The elder kept quiet and watched Bruce with curious eyes.

'I was going to keep this quiet first but I think you should know since you have more influence than me. Kai, Sara, Christian and those two other boys Mike and Rick are… This is going sound ridiculous but they are actually nightwalkers as in vampires,' Bruce said.

'What?!' Dickenson was shocked.

'I know it's difficult to believe but we have seen Rick in action when he saved us from the ghouls back at the dojo. And he did told us about this himself and about how Kai was turned,' Bruce sat down and gestured Dickenson to do the same. At this point Bruce told him what Rick had said to every word. About Marko attacking Kai, Christian turning him, Kai's rape in the mansion and Christian saving him from that, Christian ordering Kai to leave his teammates in China around the time Ray was killed, about Ray not knowing about Kai's new nature, Kai's own killings by not being in control of his own emotions and so on.

'That's… unbelievable,' Dickenson said at the end with distress expression. Bruce could only nod and wait for Dickenson to continue thinking about this. It was a lot to handle.

'And to think that Tyson and Kenny are both among them and surrounded by ghouls. How can you be sure that they won't get hurt?' Dickenson asked.

'I don't actually… and that scares me but if Ray trusted Kai even after learning about his nature and wanting the same thing we did… I think I'm going to believe that they'll be fine from Rick and Kai at least,' Bruce said.

'That Ray… He always had a good nature,' Dickenson smiled slightly before standing up, 'It was good for you to tell me this in private. This is something that needs to be hidden and now we know why they hide their real names.'

'It would raise a suspicion and a big one. Kai must get a new last name at some point too but we don't have to think about this now. These ghouls need to be stopped and I think…' Bruce began but stopped at the end. Though Dickenson knew what he was going to say.

'You think we need their help to get through this. Specially this Christian,' Dickenson said.

'If he's their leader, it's obvious that he's the strongest among them and they way he's been operating… It looks like he wants to hide vampires presence from humans to survive and not cause harm in general. When we looked it like that and think Kai, his methods seem harsh but needed,' Bruce continued.

'We don't know about not harming humans in general at all,' Dickenson pointed out, 'It seems that if things don't go his way, someone end up dead, like that Marko and Jack.'

'Right. That's true. What now?' Bruce asked standing up.

'We keep quiet and if it's possible, keep an eye on them. At the moment it's just Sara since she's here but when Kai and Rick appear, they'll be watched too,' Dickenson replied, 'I would ask you to do that since you know of this.' Bruce nodded and they walked back to the others who were just sitting quietly on the side away from the other groups.

'Mr. Dickenson. We have covered the windows. We did leave one window slightly without a cover so we could see outside. Now, next step is to set up the television so that we can get information from other shelters, the president and other countries,' officer walked to them to explain the situation.

'Of course,' Dickenson nodded.

'Alright and I must inform you that that girl's last name is fake and her brother Kai is wanted by China's police but details are not know for us yet. are you aware of this since you bought them plane tickets?' officer asked.

'Yes. We have talked to them and are aware of the details as well. Rest assure it's been taken care off by China's officers in the future too once monsters are gone,' Dickenson answered professionally. The future was going to be unsure since if anyone would tell them the truth, it would cause more problems than letting "criminals" roam free.

Dickenson glanced at Sara and knew very clearly that if they would continue walking among humans, more humans would die because vampires do need blood to survive. But if they are found out, they would be killed. If not found out but locked away from murders like China's police suspect, they would kill humans in prison or die there too.

Dickenson would have to find out how they require blood to the mansion first before making the final decision about this. And the fact that Ray wanted to help Kai anyway raised another question. They were living creatures as well who could think. Did they deserve to be killed just because they were different what they lived? Could they drink animal blood instead? These were the questions that needed answers but not now.

Dickenson followed the officer to the television and left Bruce. Bruce sat next to Ruy and watched around them. People were scared and they jumped every time they heard a sound coming outside. Some ghouls were trying to get through couple of times but clearly gave up since doors were barred heavily.

'Tyson… Kenny. Please, keep safe. Both of you,' Bruce thought deeply and crossed his hands.
