Chapter 24: Nothing You Can Do About It

-In China-

'Lee?' Mariah jogged to her brother who taking out blankets in the hall.

'Problem?' Lee asked as he took different sizes out.

'Not really but are you sure about this? Letting them stay? Didn't Tyson and others say that they killed Ray?' Mariah asked. Lee turned around and gazed at the door of the room where everyone was staying.

'If you ask me, I want to throw them out but Elder is right too even though I don't want to admit it,' Lee answered and closed the closet door, 'Besides if we want to be accurate, they didn't actually kill Ray.'

'Besides Kai was the one who killed the person who hurt Ray,' Gary walked in with a box in his hand.

'I know but that doesn't change the fact that they have killed others. It was confirmed,' Mariah pointed out.

'We know but without proof nothing can be done. And not to forget that there are monsters everywhere,' Lee replied annoyed. It was true what Mariah was saying and when he thought about everything Tyson had said, Christian was the sole reason Ray had been in danger in the first place. And seeing him sitting there like he owned the world pissed Lee off. He was clearly in charge in that group of theirs.

'Hold on,' Mariah suddenly said and brought Lee back from his thoughts.

'What?' Lee frowned.

'Did Kai's brother say that… even dead people from the graves have become those monsters?' Mariah asked.

'Yeah, what abo… Shit!' Lee's eyes widened. He dropped the blankets he was holding and run back inside with Mariah right behind him.

-With Christian-

'Here we go again Sir,' Mike tapped Christian on the shoulder lightly and stood up. Before Christian could open his eyes entirely Lee came running towards them.

'We need to talk, alone,' Lee said as Christian gazed at straight into his eyes. Without a word Christian stood up and let Lee grab his arm.

'That's bold of him,' Tina chuckled while watching Lee and Mariah pull Christian to the hall.

Christian pulled his arm away after they were standing in another room. Mariah, Gary and Kevin had walked in too.

'Didn't you say alone?' Christian sighed annoyed. He wasn't in the mood of interrogation or even talking in general.

'Shut up and just answer. What did you mean by dead people becoming monsters too?' Lee asked.

'Exactly what I said. Trouble in hearing?' Christian said and put hands into his pockets.

'Does that mean Ray is monsters now too?' Mariah asked while coming closer. Christian looked into Mariah's eyes and saw sorrow, worry and fear in them.

'Obviously. It doesn't change the fact that the ghouls need to be destroyed. Your friend is not alive anymore. So, don't be sad about it,' Christian answered after a painful silence.

'How did you know what I was thinking?' Mariah asked shocked.

'I can see it your eyes,' Christian answered. He was about to go back when Lee stopped him again.

'And how do you know that Ray's walking like a zombie now? How do you know that those monsters didn't dug up the graves themselves and just eat the dead people?' Lee asked angrily. It sounded cruel to say but he had noticed Christian stated right away that dead people were also walking there as ghouls. And not anything else was mentioned.

'That's not any of your business. I suggest just keeping yourself alive and not bother me,' Christian hissed but only slightly. It didn't go unnoticed.

'Or what? Are you going to kill me then?' Lee growled and Mariah grabbed Lee's hand. Christian shook his head before turning around again.

'Not only you but everyone in here. I hate the people who don't do what they are told,' Christian growled before leaving.

'Um… Lee? Can I ask you not to provoke him?' Kevin asked but he was still shaking.

'Fucking bastard. No wonder Tyson wants to get Kai away from him,' Lee was frustrated. Not only there was danger outside but inside too.

'Lee?' Kevin asked again.

'Okay, okay. I'll try,' Lee nodded before leading everyone out.

-Inside The Main Room-

'Humans,' Christian commented as he sat back down.

'I guess that wasn't happy conversation,' Mike stated the obvious and quickly shut his mouth after getting a death glare from Christian.

'Better not press the wrong buttons now,' Tina warned Mike too and Mike chuckled nervously. Lara was the only one who was quiet since she also knew Christian's wrath, and she was on the receiving end of it too.

After White Tigers came back too Mike noticed they were paler. It was clear Christian used his classic threating skill to be left alone for now. It worked every time and Mike enjoyed it's effects. They clearly were staying away from them and just trying to make sense of the situation.

'Good people!' elder from before stepped up after a while, 'We are facing bad situation and I can only tell you that we need to be calm and take one step a time forward. First, we need to get in touch with the outside world and we are going to inform you once that's done. Please be patient and take care of your loved ones.'

'Humans indeed,' Mike smirked and leaned against the wall while standing. Lee kept Christian in his sight as he walked up to the elder after his small speech.

'Lee my boy. Next step is to get connection working. Any progress on that?' elder asked.

'Not yet and there is a slight problem with that too,' Lee whispered. Elder noticed Lee's nervousness right away and what's causing it.

'I know you don't like them my boy considering what they have done in the past,' elder said.

'It's not like we can throw them out,' Mr. Tao jumped next to them out of nowhere and scaring Lee to the death, almost.

'Don't scare me like that and that's not it,' Lee said. Elder and Tao looked confused.

Mariah joined their conversation, 'We asked the fucker… I mean Christian about what he said when he first came. Ray's grave along with others were apparently empty and are monsters too.'

'I questioned him how he is so sure about that and discarded every other option. He straight up told me off by stating it's not out business and threatened to kill everyone here if he's bothered and people don't do like they are told,' Lee tried to talk slowly and quietly to avoid panic.

'Elder… They are dangerous and Christian most of all. And they are clearly hiding something and know about those monsters a lot too. I don't feel like people are safe here,' Lee added. Elder glanced at the kids again. Despite what he said earlier, he knew all along how dangerous those kids were. Their auras were tense and screamed danger the minute they had walked in and Lee's confrontation with Christian confirmed that nothing good would happen if they were messed with.

'I would suggest trying to keep things calm and annoy them in that case. It's very clear what they can do. Another matter, what's the problem with connection?' elder asked.

Even elder was telling them just to leave them be, 'We have television in this building, some cables too but the main router is not. It's on the other building right on the other side of this one.'

'That means we can't get the connection unless we have that,' Tao walked back and forth, 'Is there away to get it? We can't ask about it from people here.'

'Don't ask me,' Lee surrendered when he noticed the look Tao was giving and others did too.

'Are you saying we have to ask them about this?' Kevin pointed behind him.

'Lee did say that they know about those monsters more than they say,' Tao said. Lee rubbed his neck in annoyance and glanced at Christian.

'There is no way in hell, they will help,' Lee said. Elder tapped Lee's arm lightly before walking towards the group himself.

'Elder!' Lee followed right away. Tina, Lara and Mike were the only ones who acknowledged their arrival.

'What now?' Mike spoke first. Christian wasn't paying attention to them at all and just kept his arms and legs crossed and eyes closed.

'We have a small problem and need a router from another building. Is there away to get past the monsters?' elder with calm voice.

'Why do you think we know that?' Mike questioned smirking before looking at Lee, 'Aah, of course.'

'No, not easily anyway,' Tina stated.

'It's possible though?' Lee ignored his thoughts for now and wanted to contrate on the task of hand.

'If you're a ninja, yes,' Tina nodded. She was sitting on the ground with her legs on the side relaxed.

'Meaning really quiet and not be seen,' Tao tapped his own chin.

'Can you do it Lee? I'm not very quiet,' Mariah asked, 'To get to the building we need to jump to the roof and that makes a big noise.'

'Other way is through the ground from the back but that's too risky,' Lee scratched his head.

'You kids try come up with something. I'll go handle the food supplies for now and give out the blankets with Tao. I feel bad when asking you kids to do it but we don't have adults here to do it or anyone else. It's up to us,' elder said encouragingly.

'Wow. That's cruel,' Mike commented.

'Look who's talking,' Lee grunted before glancing outside. Ghouls were walking back and forth but they weren't trying to come inside.

'Do you think these monsters are also somewhere else?' Gary asked as Lee turned back.

'Before all of the running began I heard from the radio that ghouls are in other places too around the world but mostly here in China and Japan too,' Lee replied.

'News travel fast in crises apparently,' Mike said.

'Why are you talking?' Lee growled but Mike just shrugged his shoulders.

'Just forget it. We need to get that router and fast,' Mariah reminded, 'Even though it involves more risk, I think we should go through the back.' As White Tigers were discussing the route to get there they heard a loud grunt.

'Christian?' Mike sounded worried this time. Lee and other noticed Christian holding his head with one hand and in clear pain.

'Must be another vision and not intentional one either,' Mike gritted his teeth. Christian's grunt caught other people's attention.

In Christian's mind, he could see flashes from the future. He saw Rick getting better and killing an old woman, Kai drinking blood from Kenny's wrist and their plan to get supplies. These were clear images and Christian could tell that they were happening right this exact moment. Few more flashes showed further away to the future, more people dying, ghouls and even other vampires. No matter how hard he concentrated now, he couldn't tell who the ghoul maker was.

'Christian! Sir!' voice snapped Christian back. Glancing forward Christian saw Mike who had been shaking him.

'Anything?' Mike questioned.

'Trouble,' Christian took deep breaths and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

'What was that about? What do you mean by trouble?' Lee asked. That didn't look normal and they reacted like it was normal.

'You're really noisy, you know that,' Mike sighed, 'Don't you have a router to fetch?'

'How else would I react here? He looked like he was in great pain and you all act like it's normal,' Lee pointed out as Christian stood up. He looked drained but fine at the same time.

'If I get that router, will you shut up then?' Christian was clearly pissed. Lee had to be careful now and not push the killer in front of him over the edge.

'Okay, okay. Fine,' Lee nodded quickly, 'It's on the other building and it's white. You can't miss it.'

'Are you seriously going to help them?' Lara asked confused.

'Just stay put,' Christian ordered and walked to the front door. Before anyone could protest he opened the door quietly, stepped out and closed it behind him.

'Front door too?' Mariah was shocked and run to the window but she couldn't see anything. They waited for five to ten minutes and Christian came back. They barred the door again as he walked in and placed the router in Lee's arms.

'Let's go Lee,' Mariah said and they left quickly.

'Well?' Mike whispered this time. Lara and Tina also stood up since Christian stayed standing.

'Looks like vampires behind this are in Japan. Some of them at least,' Christian answered.

'That's lucky for them but unlucky for us,' Tina sighed annoyed. It got way too complicated and there was more to come.

'Rick also got hurt there but he's better now. Before you ask, I couldn't see the ghoul maker yet,' Christian stated, 'I'm starting to think that the person might have an ability to conceal himself.'

'So you can't see him? Shit, that's troublesome,' Tina was the next person to growl.

'It's a possibility. We can't stay here long,' Christian said and sat down again. He needed to think a plan first and their steps. They couldn't go anywhere yet for many reasons. Main reason was to get strength back first. The vision had drained Christian again and they didn't have blood to recover faster.

-After An Hour-

'Finally!' Mariah yelled when they got the router to work. After getting past the passwords and other security measures they managed to contact the government. They were informed to stay put and try keep themselves until help would arrive which might take a while since ghouls were everywhere. At the same moment government got other lines working and people were able to use their phones.

Christian's phone was one of many which beeped. Sara's messages finally went through and they confirmed Christian's thoughts. He replied Sara back and told her and Rick about the vampires, graves and his latest vision. Other people were also making calls and White Tigers were among them.

'Who are you calling?' Mariah asked.

'Shh! Tyson and others,' Lee said and walked back of the room. Mariah and others left him be and helped elder however they could.

'Tyson? Are you there?' Lee asked.

'Lee?! What the hell? Are you okay in there? We were just informed that phones work again!' Tyson yelled.

'Yeah. We're fine,' Lee replied.

'Doesn't sound like it.'

'Ah, you can tell. Well, we are mostly fine. People in here haven't died and are even calm despite everything. How are things at your end?'

'Not good. We got separated. Max and Kenny are with my dad grandfather in BBA building, Kai and Kenny on other building and I'm stuck with Rick.'

'Who's Rick again?' Lee asked confused. So much had happened in short amount time and it looked like Bladebreakers were in greater trouble since they were separated.

'One of Christian's goons. Annoying as fuck I say but he helped me to safety. So, can't really complain but can't stand him.'

'Christian's people?' Lee glanced Christian again who was again keeping his eyes closed, 'Tyson?'

'Yeah?'

'You told us about Christian right and his little brother who you are trying to get away from him, right? Is Rick also…'

'A murderer? Yeah, pretty much. Every one of them is, even Kai,' Tyson whispered with sadness in his voice, 'Why are you asking?'

'I can see why you want to get Kai away from them. His older brother is mad.'

'Wait a minute… You've met him?'

'Yeah. He's here along with Mike, Tina and Lara. When we were running to safety they came out of nowhere.'

'What the fuck?'

'I'm so on edge here and want to throw them out because of what they did to Ray but can't. I think it will cause a panic in here if we start throwing people out. Not to mention Christian clearly knows about those ghouls by saying straight away that dead people have been turned to ghouls too.'

'You tell me. Rick even killed an elderly woman here a moment ago… Oops!'

'What?!' Lee yelled and quickly turned around after people turned to him, 'Are you serious? Why haven't you told anyone in there?'

'Shit… I… Well… not cause a panic?'

'Don't lie. Spill it out,' Lee said as Mariah and others came back after seeing his expression.

'I'm going to get in trouble for this… Lee, you must promise me not to do anything if I tell you. It's not like we can do anything.'

'What do you mean?'

'You see… well… they… They are not humans…'

Lee wasn't sure he heard it right, 'What the fuck are you saying?'

'You heard me. They are not humans,' Tyson was whispering, 'I really want to yell it to your ear but I'm trying to stay away from Rick while we are talking. Even though I think Christian already knows I told you this.'

'What are they then?'

'Vampires…'

Lee almost dropped his phone, 'Are you fucking nuts?'

'I know it sounds crazy but I have seen it myself! Rick here killed the elderly woman to heal himself by drinking the woman's blood, can freeze time and run faster than sonic. Kai and Sara are vampires too and so are they! Listen Lee. Don't do or say anything about this.'

'And why the fuck not? They don't belong here.'

'With that shit going on out there? Dickenson and even my dad think that they are needed now more than ever. They are trying to find out the person behind the ghouls and stop this madness. Even I think we can worry about them later once ghouls have been taken care of. And it's not like they are killing humans without reason… Okay, that sounded stupid since they don't care for humans in the first place.'

'Hold on… All of you know this and still want to help Kai? Even though he's a monster too?'

'Yeah. It sounds crazy I know but if Ray wanted to help Kai, so do we.'

'Ray… knew about it too?'

'Yes. Ray knew about Kai being a vampire and killer too and he still wanted to help Kai get away from his manipulative brother. That's why I believe Kai's not a bad person… or vampire. Christian is the problem but he's needed the most.'

'The most?'

'He's the leader dude. Which means he's also the strongest vampire among them and has many abilities.'

'Like what? You said Rick can stop time or something?'

'We don't know all of them but we do know Christian can see in the future by choice and unintentionally too. Apparently it hurst him too and he grabs his head in pain.'

Lee recalled the situation a moment ago, 'If that's true… he got another one a moment ago.'

'Rick told me after phones began working. Christian told Rick and Sara about it. So, we know about Ray too.'

'Right. No wonder you didn't react to it first. Sounds like you're the only ones to know about it?'

'We are keeping it to ourselves for now anyway. I think when it's time they don't care if they are found out since Christian can wipe people's memories too.'

'He can what?'

'I know. Basically they can just make us forget them and continue killing humans like always.'

'And that's why you're telling me this?'

'Yeah and I do think Christian knows I told you about this since he can see the future. But I wanted to be sure that you don't try do anything there since it will only end up badly. I mean… no matter how you look at it but they are stronger than us every way.'

'I… I understand but this is a lot man,' Lee grunted frustrated.

'I hate Christian as much as you and I don't want to be with Rick any longer either. But please, keep it cool. What we have heard, Christian even kills his own people if they cross the line.'

'Alright Tyson. Keep it safe there,' Lee said before closing the call. Next he pulled Mariah and others a side and told them what he had just heard.

'Are you crazy?!' Kevin yelled and Gary covered his mouth.

'Let's just do as Tyson suggested. Hold on,' Lee walked to Christian again and just stared at him. Christian opened his eyes and he was glaring. Lee could see the anger in there but decided to speak up.

'May I assume you know what Tyson just told me?' Lee asked as others came closer too.

Christian sighed closing his eyes, 'Yes. I heard the call too. No matter how quietly you whisper, we can hear you.'

'So this Rick also knows Tyson told me everything?' Lee asked.

'Obviously and I told him to allow it. It doesn't matter if you know,' Christian leaned back against the wall.

'Are you really buying this bullshit Lee?' Gary asked.

'Tyson has no reason to lie to me and he did sound truthful,' Lee nodded.

'Good for you. Safes us time too,' Mike stated, 'Hopefully you don't go Tyson on us and say something around the lines, we save Kai from you.'

'You won't allow it to happen, will you?' Lee narrowed his eyes.

'If Kai knows what's good for him, he goes where he belongs and it's not among you people,' Christian answered firmly, 'No, I won't allow it and I'm tired of telling him about it.'

'You're horrible. You're his big brother and you treat him like an object,' Mariah argued. Christian stood up quickly and stepped closer. He raised his right arm and cracked his fingers before opening his eyes and this time they had deep red glow.

'What are you doing?' Lee pulled Mariah back and tried not to yell. At the moment people weren't paying too much attention to them but it could change quickly. Lee could feel shivers on his back as he watched into Christian's eyes. Tyson had warned him just a moment ago how dangerous Christian was, and even before they were informed about their true nature.

'Let me repeat myself one more time,' Christian whispered with low voice, 'I can kill everyone here in an instant. Besides not you, this Tyson or anyone else can stop me from treating my own family how I want. Kai is so stubborn that I have to be vigilant and much hard on him.'

Christian lowered his arm and relaxed his stance, 'Don't forget. He doesn't belong among you ever again.'

Lee was shaking and he couldn't hide it either. He could also see Mike and others had feared looks. Even his own people were so scared of Christian and it was clear they won't disobey him. Lee kept his eyes on Christian's and didn't see any remorse in them. It was like he was admitting Mariah's accusation. How was Tyson going to get Kai away from this guy?

'Is something wrong?' Tao came after noticing Christian's stance.

'No, nothing. Just small misunderstanding,' Lee answered fast.

'I understand you're Kai's brother, right?' Tao asked.

'Tao!' Kevin said worried.

'We got a hold onto other shelters and know that your little brother and little sister are in Japan. I don't know what the misunderstanding was here but they are safe,' Tao said. He watched the older brother as he spoke.

'He knows. Let's go,' Lee turned to Tao and led him away.

'That was intense,' Mike noted as Christian sat down after humans had left.

'To think they can take Kai away as they say it,' Tina snorted. Others couldn't agree more and kept looking around.

-With Lee-

'Why did you ask him that?' Lee asked.

'Because I heard what you two spoke about and Mariah is right. Normally when people are told about their families well-being, they show either worry or relief. But this Christian only stared at me with cold eyes. It looked like he tried to figure me out,' Tao answered.

'Because he already knows about it. He texted them,' Gary pointed out.

'Elder told me what happened between you guys last time and know that they don't have "clean hands". I just wanted to see it myself and it's clear. Christian especially, clearly doesn't care about humans lives,' Tao stated.

'That's pretty much clear but nothing we can do about it,' Lee crossed his arms. Was there anything they could about them?

Is Christian good or bad? Who knows? Does he care or not?
