Chapter 25: Talking Too Much

-With Tyson-

'Oh boy,' Tyson put his phone away. As adults were trying to figure out who leave to get food and other stuff, still, Lee had called.

'Nice talk?' Rick appeared behind him and Tyson jumped from the surprise.

'No! Yes! Not your business!' Tyson spoke quickly.

'Why lie when you know that I heard you loud and clear?' Rick asked.

'Just a habit or something. I wanted to warn them about you guys just in case and I know Lee will keep quiet about it. You must know what's going on there now?' Tyson didn't want to sound like he asked a question.

'Of course I know. Sir texted me and he did see this future just like you predicted. Shortly, you and they know about us and we have a problem too,' Rick sighed and threw his own phone up and down. They were standing in the dark and they would look suspicious if someone saw them.

'The bad guy? Dead people becoming monster? Anything else?' Tyson frowned.

'Both and you humans are slower than a snail when it comes to trouble,' Rick answered with clear annoyance. At least feelings were mutual between them.

'Slow? We care for other people too you know!' Tyson

'In your dreams only,' Rick watched the officer from before and how few people were finally preparing to leave to go out.

'You stay here among humans. I'm out,' Rick said after checking the video screens too.

'I knew it and mentioned it but where are you going?' Tyson asked.

'If you must know, Christian told us to leave the shelters a moment ago too,' Rick grabbed Tyson and pushed him to sit down, 'Just stay put like a good kid.'

'Are Kai and Sara leaving too?' Tyson asked but stayed seated.

'Obviously moron,' Rick answered and headed towards the adults while hiding in the dark. Even Tyson could guess he was going to leave at the same time when small group would. Which reminded Tyson about his father. He recalled Bruce would be leaving to get supplies too.

'I wonder if they know about their plan to leave somewhere?' Tyson thought as he watched Rick follow the group outside.

-After Another Hour With Officer Chane-

The officer Chane finally managed to pull few people together who along with two others from their shelters were going to leave to get supplies. It was decided that the main people would stay in the shelters, Chane here, Dickenson in BBA and James in the officer building. Just before groups left, they were warned about monsters and told to move very quietly and out of sight too. Which is why many of the adults were young, athletic or some other way quick and quiet from their feet.

They were given an exact plan and route to follow to make sure no one would get lost, not too badly or separated. They were given black jackets too for safety as it would hide them better in the dark. It hadn't been that long but it was also a night time now with thick clouds.

Chane didn't get any rest after the group had left since he was immediately grabbed by a woman with a child.

'How can I help?' Chane spoke calmly.

'Find who the killer is,' woman demanded right away.

'I don't…' Chane began but was interrupted by the woman.

'We are only waiting for the people to come back. It's not like we can contact them since it might put them in danger since it would make noises in their phones. They are the ones contacting us but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try finding the killer in here. What if that person strikes again?' woman was loud enough to some people come back her up.

'Calm down people. I'll check things out again. Just keep your own eyes out too for anything,' Chane promised and it worked. The group broke up and left Chane standing there in front of the screens. He hadn't informed other shelters what had happened here for now but they might find out soon since phones worked again. If they had friends or family members in other shelters, they would surely wrote or call them.

Chane walked up to the elder woman again but didn't see anything new. How was someone able to snap her neck without a sound. Chane slowly stood up and looked around. People weren't as on edge than from the beginning but were careful. Woman from a moment ago had a point too. If the killer wasn't found, it would cause more panic among people here because of fear.

Then Chane noticed the store's cameras, 'Those would be good to check out just in case.' After walking to the store's security room he sat down and opened the main computer. Chane was in very good luck. Cameras were on and still recording.

'Let's play it back…' Chane talked to himself and rolled the tape back for few hours.

'There,' Chane stopped rolling when he noticed elder woman sitting up still alive. She was talking to that Tyson kid first and after a while Rick kid woke up. All three of them talked and strangely Rick was up and walking immediately. With the wound he had, it shouldn't be possible.

Chane watched the recording and concentrated on the elderly. After Tyson left elder was speaking with Rick now.

'What?' Chane eyes widened after seeing what happened next. Elder wasn't moving but Rick stood up, grabbed elder's hand up and after a moment lowered it back down. Then he watched how Rick kid put his hands around elder's neck for a moment before leaving.

'No way,' Chane rolled back the tape and zoomed in. It was blurrier but he could clearly see Rick grabbing elder's neck. He rolled back a little more and tried to see what kid was doing with the hand before that.

'He… kissed it?' Chane wasn't sure what Rick was doing but it looked like he put elder's wrist near his mouth. Chane looked the tape forward and this time followed Rick. He saw Tyson talking to him what looked like angrily and then leaving to the side and just stood there hands crossed.

After Rick had stood there for five minutes Chane rolled the tape forward slower this time until he saw Rick move. After a while Rick moved and Chane noted the time. It had been an hour in real life. This time Rick walked up to Tyson who looked surprised and putting his phone away.

'Phone lines came back at that time,' Chane stated to himself and watched them talk for a bit. After that Rick was clearly watching Chane and the group.

'Don't tell me…' Chane rolled the tape again and he was right. He saw Rick follow the group out quickly and no one noticed it either. Rick had left the shelter.

'Shit,' Chane didn't know what he was upset about. He didn't believe yet a just a kid was able to snap someone's neck so quietly and it wasn't even clear on the video either. It looked like he had just touched woman's neck and that's it. He didn't move his hands any other way.

But a kid leaving without a word was worrying. What did he think he could do? Chane knew his friends were at another shelters. Was Rick trying to get to them or do something else? Chane looked through the video again and checked Tyson this time. He had made a call to someone before Rick had walked in and even before that saw a small kid talking to him after Rick had left.

Chane left the cameras recording and went back to the main room. He walked to the elder again and this time checked her wrists.

'Bite mark?' Chane narrowed his eyes after seeing two holes in elder's wrist. He stood up and decided to walk among the people in hope to spot the kid from the video. He found him with a woman who most likely was the kid's mother.

'Hi. Can I ask you something?' Chane smiled kindly and kid nodded. Kid's mother allowed them to talk in peace and backed away.

'What?' kid asked with curious expression with excitement.

'I was wondering what did you talk with Tyson? The teenager with a cap,' Chane asked.

'Oh. I just asked him about his friend, though he said they weren't actually friends,' kid's smile fell and kid spoke quietly.

'I'm curious about that. Why?' Chane kept his own smile and it calmed the kid a bit.

'I just asked him that did his scary friend hurt the nice lady. He said no. So, I think I heard them wrong,' kid explained.

'Heard?' Chane asked and kneeled down.

'After the nice lady was found, I thought I heard the cap boy asking the scary one what he did. Something about killing her. But the cap boy told me he didn't so, I'm happy,' kid smiled at the end.

'Alright. Thank you,' Chane nodded and watched kid run back to the mother. Chane headed back to the front and spotted Tyson sitting on one of the benches.

'Tyson Granger, right?' Chane asked after coming up to him.

'Yeah,' Tyson looked up.

'Come here for a moment,' Chane asked Tyson to follow. Luckily he did and they headed to the next room to talk in piece.

'What do you want?' Tyson asked after Chane closed the door.

'I wanted to ask you about your friend or acquaintance,' Chane began and saw Tyson's expression change to annoyed mostly.

'Definitely acquaintance. What about him?' Tyson crossed his arms.

'I haven't seen him in here. I checked the cameras that are recording the main room and I saw him leave in secret. Do you know why he left?' Chane decided to leave the elder out of the conversation at first. It looked like even this first question shook Tyson a bit. He looked… worried.

'Not entirely sure… Maybe get to his friends?' Tyson suggested.

'Why when they are safe? He could get killed out there before he can get to the other shelters,' Chane questioned.

'Don't ask me. I don't like him and I don't really care but something tells me he'll be just fine,' Tyson answered. Chane noticed that Tyson was much more sure when answering this time.

'How are you so sure?' Chane asked.

'Because he was the one to safe us from those monsters…' Tyson stopped talking.

'Mind explaining that?' Chane wanted to move slowly and not push for answers too quickly.

'In short, those monsters broke into my home and then Rick appeared and killed them with his ninja moves. He can fight. So, I think he'll be just fine,' Tyson spoke.

'He did get hurt though?' Chane reminded but Tyson shook his head.

'That was the pipe by accident when the walls came down. He's not invincible clearly but I'm telling he's not weak either,' Tyson wanted out of this talk and it didn't go unnoticed.

'Something tells me you already know what I really want to know,' Chane said emotionlessly.

'No. How could I?' Tyson shook his hands in front of him and was sweating. Chane simply gazed at him and Tyson sighed.

'You knew all along that Rick was the one who killed that elder woman, didn't you? When a kid asked you about it you lied. I can see why you did that when it came a small kid but you didn't anyone about it,' Chane asked quietly.

'Alright, fine. I knew about it. What could I do about it? It was agreed to keep quiet about it! I mean… I really can't shut up, can I?' Tyson realized he said too much again and could only hope the officer could understand.

'What are you talking about? Who agreed on what? Who did you call to tell about it?' Chane asked anxiously.

'I didn't call anyone. A friend of mine in China called. And with who? It was agreed on with Mr. Dickenson and dad when it came to… things with Rick and his friends,' Tyson tried to spin the words a bit. Chane stared at Tyson for a while and recalled the information the officer from BBA had told him.

'Has this something to do with Kai being wanted for police in China?' Chane asked.

'It's complicated okay but yeah. He's wanted for a questioning since he knows Rick and his group and since they won't answer the questions without a warrant, police wanted to keep taps on them either way,' Tyson explained.

'Warrant? From murders?' Chane concluded.

'No! Yeah, kind of,' Tyson said, 'I mean… Yes but police don't have any proof of that. Me, my friend and even dad heard them talking about it and… It's true that Rick killed the woman and I'm pissed about it but it's what they have done before and will do again when needed. And not to increase panic Mr. D and dad decided that it was best to keep it to ourselves. I hope you can do it too. There is not actually evidence that can be used in court, which is why they are still walking free.'

'We do have a video recording of the elder's murder but it's not enough on it's own. Police in China and you have similar situation?' Chane answered calmly but was still confused, 'And whose them?'

'Yeah and I mean Rick and his friends. You know… Kai, Sara and the group in China,' Tyson decided he needed to talk with Dickenson after this.

'Let me get this straight. That teenager, Rick, has killed before just like a moment ago. Are you saying that Kai and Sara have also done it? And what group? Be clear now,' Chane was confused.

'They have an older brother in China dude and he's the one giving out orders to Rick and others. Kai has killed a few people that we know of but Sara claims she hasn't but does help her siblings and friends to keep quiet about it,' Tyson explained.

'And why are you keeping it a secret again? You know so much that it could incriminate you too,' Chane pointed out.

'We know and we haven't told the police what we have heard either because… we are hoping we can get Kai to reveal it himself since he's closest to them,' Tyson revealed, 'He would provide strong enough evidence to put Rick and others behind bars. It would be a step towards it since there is no other evidence yet. Kai's testimony would back up our claims. After that they can't hide it.'

'That's one big plan. Looks like these monsters messed it up,' Chane said.

'It did and when it comes to Rick leaving, I think Kai's brother ordered him to leave. I fear Kai and Sara have let too from their shelters,' Tyson said. Chane rubbed his chin for a moment before taking his phone out.

'What's Dickenson's phone number?' Chane asked and dialled after Tyson told the number. Chane put the phone on speaker after getting an answer. Chane explained what Tyson had told him and Dickenson backed Tyson up.

'It's true we decided to do that. We want to help Kai get away from that group since he clearly doesn't like what they do and is regretting his own actions but… Because Christian, the person giving out the orders, is his older brother, he doesn't want to betray him. We have theories why Christian began hurting people even in his age but we can't help him either as long as he's free. We were hoping to get Kai to open up and help the police instead but ghouls changed that plan a bit. Kenny, who is with Kai at the moment, has informed me that Kai won't betray his brother at the moment,' Dickenson explained.

'Kenny called you?' Tyson asked.

'Yes. Kai got little emotional and expressed his feelings a bit. Kai said something about Christian being right all along. It looks getting Kai to change his mind is harder than we thought. His older brother is good at manipulating people too. Shortly Chane Macel, even though they are just teenagers, they have killed many adults and even kids past years and Christian is the main boss so to speak. Not to mention he can manipulate people really well,' Dickenson stated firmly, 'To avoid panic, we thought it would be best to keep quiet about it since it would also ruin our chance to help Kai. I don't know why Rick decided to act now right under your nose.'

'Is Kai and Kenny alright now then?' Tyson asked after Dickenson stopped talking.

'Kenny said Kai was calm but looks like he has left the shelter. We can't see Sara either. We don't know where they have gone either,' Dickenson replied. Tyson thought he should call Dickenson later to fill up the few blanks, like why Rick decided to end the elder's life but Dickenson might suspect it already.

'That does sound complicated. I'll keep this to myself and try come up with something when it comes to the elder woman. People want answers,' Chane answered. He was glad he decided to call Dickenson. Tyson was clearly scared to talk since he didn't want to break the promise or ruin their plan. Chane also had sympathy but he did see Rick in different light. First he though Rick's behaviour and look was just his personality but now… It was far more sinister.

It explained the video too when he murdered the elder so quickly without second thought. It wasn't new to him but to think there are teenagers like that in the world. Chane wanted to know Dickenson's theory of why they were doing it but now was not the right time. After ending the call Chane touched Tyson's shoulder.

'I'm sorry if I seemed cruel there. I understand why you wanted to hide this and keeping this big of a secret is hard,' Chane said.

'You tell me. I'm not good at keeping secrets if there are clear evidence of it. Specially that video recording,' Tyson sighed. He had to shake himself up a bit and keep his mouth shut. First Lee and now the officer.

'You mentioned a friend called you. Did you tell them about this?' Chane asked.

'At the end yes because Kai's brother was with them at the time of the call anyway. Lee's friend has also died and Christian has also a hand in it. I feared Lee would do something stupid in anger, so…' Tyson explained.

'You wanted to warn them to keep everyone safe there. Alright. I'll come up something and since Rick has left the shelter, we don't have to fear him hurting people here. But are you sure they'll be fine out there?' Chane asked one more time.

'Yes,' Tyson simply stated. He had already revealed too much and there was no way he was going to say, "They'll be fine out there because they are vampires themselves". Tyson wondered why Chane didn't ask him about the bite marks on elder since Rick had drank her blood too. He either forgot about it or didn't find the bite mark.

Chane was little too smart there. Tyson also revealing things but luckily Chane understands their situation.

Pressure was getting to Tyson a bit there... Still managed to keep certain things out.
