Chapter 27: Exposed

-With Bruce-

Rai, Akemi and Bruce were quickly moving towards the store but they had to go different way from last time since there was way more ghouls than last time and soon enough, they were walking back and forth.

'This is nuts. Let's go this way,' Rai whispered and pointed towards the alley but before they could step forward, ghouls appeared right from the direction.

'A small suggestion… Turn back?' Akemi said firmly and even grabbed Rai's shoulder. There was way too many ghouls coming towards them. Bruce also looked around and gritted his teeth and jogged next to them.

'But not unnoticed. Get ready,' Bruce grabbed a pipe from the rubble and took his fighting stance. Rai and Akemi followed his lead and prepared for the worst since they didn't have experience in martial arts like Bruce did, but even that wouldn't be enough. Ghouls were coming at them like an army. They managed to kill some of them but they only managed to defend themselves in their spot, without moving from the spot.

'This is getting us nowhere,' Rai panted as he hit another ghoul in front of him. Bruce only nodded in agreement as he kicked a ghoul back. As he straightened himself Bruce saw a ghoul appearing behind Akemi and about to bite the man.

'Look out!' Bruce yelled and caused Akemi to turn around but he wasn't fast enough to dodge entirely. He missed the bite but fell down and was vulnerable. As ghoul dashed towards Akemi it exploded and turned into dust in blink of an eye.

'What the…' they questioned at the same time. Rai and Bruce ran to Akemi to help him up and as they grabbed him Bruce noticed Kai with his hand stretched towards them with shocked expression.

'Kai?' Bruce mumbled but others heard him.

-With Kai A Moment Earlier-

Kai's eyes widened after seeing Tyson's father and two others surrounded by the ghouls while trying to defend themselves.

'How did you know they were here?' Kai didn't hide the panic in his voice.

'If you must know, I heard it with my ears,' Christian replied and kept his gaze at the humans, 'They won't survive long like that.' No one else didn't say anything and just followed the scene. They were skilled but got tired fast and as Kai kept his eyes at them he clenched his fists.

'If Christian is right… Tyson will lose his father…' Kai pondered. He recalled Ray, the time he spent with them, his own talk with Bruce…

'I can't… let that happen again!' Kai growled and jumped down.

'Where are you going moron?!' Rick called out but Christian raised his hand up. Rick watched Christian for a moment before sighing. They knew what Kai had meant. With Christian's lead they jumped down from the roof without a verbal complaining. Lara specially had annoyed expression but she didn't say anything.

As Kai was running fast towards them he could see a ghoul attacking the man on the ground. Without thinking he raised his hand and tried to do… something in desperation. Then his eyes turned slight red and his hand glowed slightly with black glow. The ghoul exploded and turned to dust. Kai couldn't breathe and just started at his hand. He snapped from his thoughts when he heard Bruce call his name.

-Bruce's View-

'Kai! Why are you here?' Bruce asked as he ran to Kai who backed away a step.

'It should be: What happened just now?' Rai asked puzzled and shocked.

'Talk about that later. We have in coming,' Akemi stated as ghouls surrounded them, 'Where is your sister and friend? We need to go.'

'I told you to stay put, didn't I?' Kai ignored Rai and glared at Bruce angrily, who mouthed sorry. Kai understood that the other people didn't listen to him instead, Bruce would have.

'Nice to know you called them behind our back,' Rick suddenly appeared and gave the adults a jump scare, 'What else? Going to leave next?'

'Whatever you mean by that you kids are in trouble. You broke the rules,' Rai commented when he saw Sara and three other kids walk up to them.

'There was survivors?' Rai questioned but then noticed the tallest one who resembled Sara and even Kai a bit, 'You must be their brother. How the hell did you come here from China?'

'Not the right time,' Christian turned his gaze slightly to his left and saw ghouls growling and coming slowly towards them.

'You kid are right about that. Let's move,' Rai ignored Christian's attitude and took a better hold of the pipe again.

'What are you going to do with that? Beating them one at a time won't work if you want to survive this one,' Mike laughed amused.

'This is no laughing matter,' Akemi scolded and Mike just shrugged his shoulders. Bruce turned quietly towards Christian who was watching the ghouls coming at them.

'Is he going to… do something? But that would expose them,' Bruce thought and tried to think another plan, but Christian beat him to it by nodding at Rick.

'You're right about something at least,' Rick cracked his fingers a little bit and walked in front of them.

'What are you doing kid? You're hurt and shouldn't be moving around at all,' Rai asked when he recalled what Bruce and even Mr. Dickenson had said. There was no way this kid could fight so well hurt.

'Just shut up human,' Rick growled.

'Human? You're human too,' Rai talked back again and Bruce quickly grabbed Rai by his arm.

'Wait for a moment,' Bruce asked. Both Rai and Akemi glared at Bruce for a second but hold their places and turned to Rick who was cracking his neck.

'Shouldn't Mike help?' Sara asked Christian who shook his head. And didn't that confuse Akemi and Rai as well.

'What are you kids… What?!' Rai's eyes widened in shock as Rick disappeared from their sights and killed one ghoul after another in minutes.

'Let's run now,' Bruce shouted as the road back to the shelter became clear. Rai and Akemi each grabbed a hold of a kid with each hand, Rai grabbed Sara and Mike, Akemi Tine and Lara. Bruce played a long and grabbed Kai and Christian and they ran behind Rick who had cut the path for them.

'You can let go of us,' Tina complained but Akemi didn't let go.

'We need to get to safety and BBA is the closest one. You kids are nuts by coming here,' Akemi protested. Rick stopped in front of the BBA building as they arrived. Bruce and others let go of kids they were holding. Bruce could see people waiting for them, officer was at the door with Mr. Dickenson and people were watching them from the cracks. Just like Rai and Akemi they were surprised to see more kids besides Kai and others.

'Why did you stop? Oh,' Akemi asked and saw even bigger and faster ghoul army coming from every direction.

'This is fucking crazy!' Rai looked around but couldn't see a way out. They were surrounded again and even the shelters was getting attacked. Officer and Dickenson were holding on the door to keep the ghouls out.

'They will be overrun!' Bruce stated worried for his father and for everyone else in there.

'Tsk,' Christian growled and raised his right hand in front of him with his palm downwards, 'Humans.' People, specially humans watched eyes widened as Christian's hand began to glow. Christian's long hair and clothes moved like in a wind but it was from the force and pressure coming from his hand.

Christian pulled his hand next to his left ear before throwing it forward, sending out the force wave. White wave hit every ghoul around them and the shelter. Just as ghouls yelled out Christian snapped his fingers and ghouls turned to dust.

'What the fuck?' Akemi cursed as it quieted down and Christian put his hand down.

Bruce grabbed Rai and Akemi pushing them forward, 'Just go inside quickly.'

'Mr. Granger! Didn't you see what just happened?' Rai pushed Bruce off. Before Bruce could argue back, they heard Christian grunt.

'Brother!' Sara called out without thinking as Christian fell on one knee, 'You're exhausted. you have used too much of your power.'

'He…' Rai began but Bruce pushed them again.

'Just go. All of us!' Bruce pulled Christian up with his arm and they ran inside. Officer closed the door as Bruce helped Christian sit down on a bench.

'Now Bruce. What the hell was that?' Rai tried to keep his voice down to keep ghouls away. Kai gazed around and saw everyone watching and listening to them.

'Well… I… I'm not too sure,' Bruce didn't know what to say. The video calls were on and Bruce could see Tyson and Kenny from their screens along with officers.

'Well that's not good enough,' Rai stated as Kai walked to Christian along with Sara.

'You need to rest. Here,' Sara took Kai's bag out and gave Christian a bottle, 'It shouldn't be bad but it's not fresh.'

'I know,' Christian took a sip ignoring the talk around them for a moment before turning his attention back to humans who had turned to them.

'How about you? Bruce here doesn't seem to know,' Rai asked as Dickenson stepped forward.

'To your question from before, in our terms he used some kind of power to destroy the ghouls,' Dickenson answered.

'It sounds to me that you knew about the fact he had this power or something. Mind explaining yourself. Humans don't have….' Rai's eyes widened yet again and he turned to Rick, 'Humans?' Rai recalled.

'Those two… They aren't humans, are they?' Rai's question caused a panic among the people but luckily officer managed to quiet them down.

'They are not ghouls. Don't worry,' Max quickly tried to ensure them.

'That much is clear but what Rick and Christian are then?' Rai questioned turned to Dickenson. Elder could see people were listening to them and this wasn't going to go down well. After hearing about it from Bruce and others along seeing it. Not to mention Christian who was manipulating even his own siblings was here.

'Are you sure you want to know?' Christian asked with narrowed eyes, 'It will cause a panic again and make everything even worse.'

Rai gazed at Christian with annoyed look, 'It's clear you're not ghouls or mindless creatures. But what then if it will cause a panic. I think we need to know to prepare.'

Christian stood up, took a last sip from the bottle to empty it the way the contents wouldn't go a waste.

'It was your call,' Christian took the entire top off and turned the bottle upside down. Everyone watch a thick, dark red liquid come out and drip on the floor. People looked confused and Christian threw the empty bottle to Rai who caught it. He careful examined the red liquid and finally touched it. With a quick sniff he stared at Christian who had just drank from this same bottle.

'What is that?' someone asked from the crowd. Bruce glanced at Kai mostly who looked nervous. It was clear this wasn't planned but it looked like they weren't going to stop their leader of revealing them.

'They really don't want to say anything against them… But I can see why. Tyson and others did mention Christian easily killed his own people. It's clear he's the strongest among them,' Bruce thought on his own as Ruy touched his shoulder. They need to prepare themselves… for peoples' reactions.

'Rai?' Akemi asked and grabbed the bottle himself.

'This is… It's…' Akemi couldn't get his voice to work.

'Blood. It's blood!' Rai yelled. People looked around confused and some protested by giving different solutions.

'I have eaten pig blood too. Even blood sausages.'

'Didn't you see the kid a moment ago?! He even said he isn't a human.'

Rai blurted out the word people were thinking about, 'A vampire… Are you fucking telling us vampires exists?' Rai turned to Bruce and Dickenson who were the ones to nod. Rai turned back to Christian who kept his arm on his hip while he was standing there waiting. Next to him stood Sara, Kai and Rick along with three others.

'Wait a minute,' Rai shook his head, 'It was mentioned that Sara, Kai and Christian are siblings. Does that mean they are vampires too?' People behind the video screens had heard everything as well and had shocked looks.

'And those three as well,' Bruce admitted. People were backing away as much as they could, not a lot, and just hid kids behind them.

'You're seriously saying that these seven are vampires? A monsters? And you let them in here?!' Rai couldn't believe what he had heard.

'I know it sounds crazy but we have seen it before just like you did. For obvious reason we kept quiet about it but…' Bruce tried to explain.

'But what? They need to die right now!' Rai stated and the crowed agreed.

'Wait a fucking minute!' Max blurted out but apologized quickly, 'Sorry about that but that's not right! I mean… I've been thinking about this a lot and I do agree with Tyson's dad and Dickenson with this. They are the only ones who can defeat those ghouls. That's why they are here in the first place.'

'Are you saying boy saying we should let bloodsuckers walk free?' man from the crowed stepped forward. People looked scared but angry too.

'The morals can be talked about later but you can't deny what you just saw. Christian killed every ghoul in sight just a moment ago and saved this place,' Max explained carefully as Dickenson put his hand on Max's shoulder.

'This clearly needs to be said too. Sure, vampires were a myth and are scary since they drink human blood to live. But just like we humans eat animal meat to survive, they eat to survive,' Dickenson added.

'Are you saying we should allow them to live just because they are on top of the food chain?' Rai growled.

'Not just because of that. Just because they are not like us, they have feelings too. You have seen Kai and Sara here. If they were monsters, would they care? Monsters don't even care about their own family,' Ruy spoke up and people glanced at each other. Finally, after five minutes Rai sighed.

'You people are fucking crazy. Those morals apply to humans,' Rai didn't sound as sure as before but he wasn't stopping yet.

'Even animals have shown their intelligence and pets have shown their feelings when owner comes home. Just like Max said, this talk should be done much later once ghouls are gone and they are the only ones who can kill them. Army and police might also do something but it's clear Christian and others here are far more effective against them,' Bruce spoke calmly and could see people realizing their points but still didn't want to do be near the vampires. But it was still something.

Officer touched Rai lightly, 'They are right. Let's just leave it for now.'

'Fine,' Rai sighed and crossed his arms. People went to find new places to sit in the shelter, far away from them.

'Hn. Humans,' Christian sat back down and Sara began to rub his shoulders.

'How long do you need Sir?' Rick asked as things calmed for a moment.

'Sir?' Rai asked and Dickenson walked next to him.

'Christian there is their leader and… the oldest,' Dickenson explained. Few people listened to their talk and definitely would spread the word but it was no surprise.

Rai stared at the… vampires and from outside they looked just like humans and just kids, max teenagers, 'How old is he then?'

'Hundreds,' Dickenson's answer shocked Rai but he composed himself soon after.

'May I assume everyone has… abilities?' officer asked next to them.

Dickenson simply nodded, 'What I understood… Rick can stop time and Sara can turn invisible. Christian can do what you saw a moment ago and apparently… erase memories. We are not too clear about everything.'

'Erasing memories? And still you people… Aah,' Rai rubbed his neck and glanced at Christian who was getting a massage to his neck from Sara.

'Everyone is hundreds of years old?' Rai wanted to clear that out as Bruce came forward too.

'What we know that most of them, yes. Kai is the only one who was only turned to vampire months ago. Before you ask about it, in short, vampires aren't born through birth. That's why Christian is a lot older than Sara and so on but they are blood siblings, same parents. It's hard to explain but now it's not the time,' Bruce explained.

'We have time, spill it,' Rai crossed his arms.

'We don't know about it entirely but Christian was first turned to a vampire, hundreds years later Sara was turned and so on. After Kai was born, their parents died. And when Kai was about to die, Christian turned him. That's very short version and no, we don't have time for this,' Bruce tried to explain it very simply.

'But their parents were vampires as well?' officer asked and Bruce nodded.

Rai sighed and slowly walked closer, 'How long does he need to… rest?' Christian opened his eyes and glanced at Rai.

'Not long,' Christian stated as Rick gave Christian another bottle to drink from.

'You have blood in there?' Rai asked.

'Obviously. We regain our strength and control by drinking blood. It's not just food for us,' Rick grunted as Christian took the bottle.

'You lose control if you don't drink?' now Rai was even more worried.

'It takes time and it differs from everyone but it can happen,' Mike answered from his spot from the bench.

'Who's the risk?' Rai asked and watched as the girl named Tina pointed at Kai.

'Because he was turned only months ago?' Rai continued.

'Exactly. The older and more experienced the vampire is, more control the vampire has over their lust for blood,' Lara explained. Her tone showed distaste for the situation bus showed respect by answering calmly.

'Right. Do warn us in advance about it then,' Rai stated before walking back to the officer and Dickenson.

'You heard him,' Mike smirked as Kai sat down.

'Yeah, yeah,' Kai growled and leaned against the seat's back. They were left alone but people had angry looks thrown at them and officer had walked up to the video screens. Officer was informing the government about the situation and what he could hear, they had the same reaction as before but they managed to talk with them.

And soon enough… entire planet would know about them and it didn't take long. Since Japan's government knew about it, then did China and so on. Everyone thought the same at first, kill them but Bruce and Dickenson's reasoning about their strength and ways to destroy the ghouls hold them off. But who would know what would happen after that. It was left to be seen for now.
