A/N: I was supposed to post this yesterday... Sorry for the slight delay :/ You know what to do in case of mistakes. And I hope you like it.
Enjoy^^
"I want to go with you." It was time to go back to Hogwarts and Bill had it a little difficult.
"You can't. You're too young but I'm sure Hermione will write a lot," Molly tried to assure her six-year-old.
"I will," Hermione was quick to agree.
"And she will come back home for Christmas too." The brunette looked up, surprised. Her eyes were wide as she watched the couple in front of her. They were smiling.
"I will?" she asked, the emotions showing a little in her voice. They had referred to their house as her home. It almost felt like her own timeline.
"Yes, you will." Before she even realized what she was doing she was already embracing the pair. As she pulled back, her eyes were a little teary. "Oh, now now, none of that, dear."
"Thank you." And she embraced them once more, turning to give little Percy a hug and then Charlie. Finally, she turned back to Bill. She crouched down so she was at eye-level with the boy. "I promise I will write and you can write to me too, as often as you want. And I will come back home for Christmas." She waited a moment, giving him time to process the information. "Now, can I get a hug from my best friend?"
He flung himself at her, arms clinging around her neck. She stood up, holding him in her arms. "I will miss you so much, sweetie." She held him for several minutes before they heard the whistle, indicating that the train was about to leave. "I should go now. Thank you again, for everything," she said as she put Bill down. She hopped on the train and waved at them until she couldn't see them anymore.
Now it was time to find some of her friends. She found the marauders first, well… two of them at least. Taking a seat, she asked, "Where are Remus and James?"
"Nice to see you too, Mione. Yeah, I had a great summer and I've missed you too."
"I'm sorry. Hi, Sirius, it's been awhile. Everything okay? Peter?"
"I'm great, how about you?"
"I'm good."
"I'm fine. So where are Remus and James?"
"Get this, James became head boy," he told her like he couldn't believe what was coming out of his mouth. "They're at the prefect meeting right now."
James was head boy? Oh boy, Lily would be shocked that it wasn't Remus or someone else. "James is head boy?"
"I know, right? Traitor that he is. He went to the dark side just like Remus."
"It's not that bad, Sirius. And I think James will also see it as a good thing." Sirius just raised an eyebrow so she indulged him. "Lily is head girl, which means they'll be sharing quarters this year."
"Oh, this is going to be fun." And he meant it, he wanted to see what would happen.
Alice and Marlene had come sit with them for a while but had left again, saying they wanted to say hi to some other people as well. Eventually they were joined by none other than Lily, James and Remus themselves.
"Look who we have here, traitor."
"Can you stop it, Pads? It's not that bad."
"Well of course you would say that," he huffed.
"Oh, stop it you big baby." Then she turned to James. "I have to say I was surprised to hear you got named head boy though."
"You and me both. I don't even know what went on inside old Dumbles' head to name me head boy instead of Remus." That was the thing, everything Dumbledore did had a reason or a purpose behind it, yet no one was ever able to get what it was.
"Well, I'm glad for you either way. For all three of you, congratulations. Though, I have to admit I'll miss my best friend at the dorms this year." she said.
"I'll still be there though," Sirius cut in.
"I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about Lily." The brunette slapped his shoulder.
"The betrayal! The hurt! It's too much! Two of my friends went to the dark side and now one claims I'm not her best friend. What is going on?"
"Stop it," she laughed. "You know as good as I do that you are one of my best friends."
He immediately stopped the dramatic act, grinning at her admittance. "You just love all the attention she gives you when you act like that, don't you?" the redhead asked him, an eyebrow raised.
He couldn't deny it. He absolutely loved the attention he got. So he shrugged, a smirk on his face, like it wasn't a big deal to admit it.
At the feast that night it was so loud. People seeing each other after weeks of missing each other, telling about what they had done, where they had been. She couldn't deny that she was also excited to be back.
Yes, she would miss the Weasleys but this was also her home. And here she could start figuring out when she would start giving Dumbledore information, what information she would give him. Because even though she loved the Weasleys to death, she had been so busy this summer she hardly had had the time to think things through. Here she would be able to be on her own at times – if the marauders didn't find her – and she would be able to start thinking things through, start planning when she had to do what.
She went to the common room with Alice, Marlene and two marauders, the others having duties to perform in regards to the new students. The common room, just like the Great Hall, was loud, people still catching up with each other. The brunette had an inkling that it would be like this for at least a week, at least that's the way it always was back in the future.
Slowly, she realized, she would have to become used to the fact to refer to the future as just the future and no longer as her timeline. This would become her timeline now. Had become her timeline already in a certain way.
When she thought that, her eyes immediately looked for Sirius. He was sitting at one of the tables with Peter, probably planning something or other. She looked at him for a second. Just as she was about to look away, focus back on her conversation with the girls, he looked up at her. Grey meeting brown, he gave her a smile she returned, immediately looking away again.
Peter wasn't dumb. He wasn't a genius like the other three but he wasn't dumb. He saw how Sirius looked at Hermione, saw how she looked at him, how they looked at each other. That they hadn't realized for themselves yet was a riddle in and of itself. How can people be so clever yet so ignorant?
They were exactly the same as James and Lily, clever people being ignorant. Well, James wasn't because he knew he liked Lily but he didn't always realize to what extent it went yet. But it was clear to Peter, he saw it in his eyes.
Agreed, Peter didn't speak up a lot, wasn't the cleverest person around but he wasn't ignorant. He was good in observing his surroundings, the people around him. He saw and noticed things others didn't. So yeah, he saw what was going on between Sirius and Hermione even if those two didn't know it themselves.
