BNHA: Dual Fates
Chapter 38: Cyber Disruption
A/N: For those who didn't know- I had to change a couple of things in the previous chapter. It turns out, Midoriya was being healed in the end so I had to fix that- and Bakugo was unconscious, so I needed to replace him with another. I used Sero instead, felt a little more fitting, but it worked. XD
It didn't make much sense to have Bakugo there when he wasn't even awake in the anime, at the time haha!
She's not moving? I think this is what Principal Nezu warned me about! Okay! I believe she's taken over, which means I could still use her distraction to my advantage and spread the substance around more! I'm so glad I brought this with me before I caught up with Saito! Hatsume's excited thoughts echoed as she sprinted around the sticky contents and had her fingers barely touching a tiny metal ball, just behind her device.
This time, she whipped around, took out a palm-sized device shaped like a box, and chucked it to the center of the substance. As quickly as she could, her jet pack made her soar high above the ground right when an electromagnetic eruption dispersed and sprayed the contents out even more from its force.
"Yes! I knew it would work, haha!" A strong fist was pumped into the air when her legs kicked happily. There, her yellow eyes returned to the surface below and saw how it masked a lot of the land. "Now, for phase two!" Her grin never fell, in fact, it broadened when she pulled out the tiny metal ball and held it securely in her hand. "Just gotta wait for an opening, to throw this baby!" A quick adjustment, a pair of goggles were pulled over her eyes and the small sphere was lifted in front of her face to take aim.
However, Uviel continued to stare blankly at the ninja who kept his attention on her. But when a dark red, metallic hand came swooping down to strike at him, he lost his focus on her and avoided it with a swift jump.
High into the air, his legs close to his chest, his gray eyes darted between the girl and her robot. Very slowly Kage rose to his full height and somehow, on his shoulder, revealed the cybergirl standing on him.
(Play: Nebula Jam by The Enigma TNG :DD!)
Those emotionless blue hues bore into his eyes, as the odd gleam in hers turned around her pupil for a second. With her rocket boots, she took off, leaving his shoulder and preparing her Decennial Rod with a swift whirl behind her.
Quickly Edgeshot evaded, with a spin of his drill and shot out red streams in hopes of snagging her. He wasn't expecting a heavy hand to reach him that high in the air, so he had to move!
His drill form allowed him to swerve just right to avoid the impact, but his peripherals spotted Uviel's Decennial weapon and forced descended as fast as he could. He was lucky that he did, for a thunderous clap through the clear sky roared and blue electric, magnetic sparks flew.
From above, now that he stood on the ground, he heard Kage move and saw that a miniature missile moved out from his shoulder to take aim. They're a bit of a challenge... Especially with these heavy weights on. he mumbled in his head and used his quirk to turn into thin crimson threads that were hard to see.
Thankfully, he trekked the field and raced to the robot, as soon as he shot the missile; an explosion dispersed behind him when he reached the giant's foot. This time he kept his attention on the girl as well as Kage, for even the smallest opening could give them a chance to defeat him.
He was almost crushed by a large chunk of earth if he hadn't turned into red thread to enter the robot's frame. Through the cracks of Kage's metal, he watched Uviel calmly walk towards where he once was, with a large metallic...claw hand? He saw how bits of dirt trickled from those monstrous cybernetic claws, so it was safe to assume she threw that debris.
As fast as he could move with those weights on, he left from the robot's backside, used his quirk to sprawl himself out, and tangled the beast's feet until he toppled over with a hard thunk.
Kage had fallen, face-first into the field with the flown dirt in the air concealing the girl. With a raise of his head, Edgeshot looked up when he saw her burst from the brown cloud and descend toward him with a whirling kick.
He was just in time when his arms lifted to block the heavy strike, for the girl's blunt force caused a wave of air to disperse from the impact and make him wince. With ease, since she was in the air he wrapped his quirk around her and tangled her until she couldn't move.
Kamihara! Please, help me! I'm scared! Uviel's plea for help was left unheard as her tiny fist banged on the invisible force in her mind. However, when tears cascaded from her cheeks, it had done the same outside of her body and the ninja noticed. Kamihara! her last cry for help remained unheard.
"Hang in there, Saito!" Edgeshot tried to reassure but was almost pummeled by a heavy fist from above that aimed to crush him into the ground. He had to let go of the girl, lest he becomes purely crimson and in pieces.
A harsh quake rumbled from the impact and made countless chunks of earth to uproot. Followed by Saito's swift recovery when she stood up, twirled, and swatted her staff to the side.
Blue, electric sparks covered where she aimed and made the whole surface quiver. Kamihara watched as thick, numerous pieces rose from her strike and made a building or two crumble in the small distance. They were near the artificial city when she swung it- though, that didn't keep his attention for long.
It all happened as if it were slow motion, his head turned back to the girl and saw her soaring after him with her rocket boots when a ball was thrown. Those gray eyes widened, for an electrical discharge dispersed from the small metal ball and made the ninja shield himself with his arm.
(End of song xD)
"I got her!" Mei's open grin and thrilled eyes proved how happy she was at that moment.
Uviel stood there with her head dangling, arms slumped, and her rod next to her feet. Though, that didn't stop Kage... He reacted just as Hatsume mentioned before, his protective mechanism caused him to sprint for the ninja and make long forearm blades pop out from a hidden slot in his machinery.
Just when he was about to swing his forearm blade, Uviel's head snapped up and her blue hues blinked. "Huh?" Finally, recognition hit and gasped upon seeing Kage rushing to her backside and securing her with his towering form. Right, we're in the middle of a fight! Whatever brought me back- for the love of all things, thank you! A stray tear fell and an appreciative smile grew on her upper-black lips.
She came back after that discharge, it seems. Now, we can finally decide who wins this match. Kamihara noted and prepared himself a little more, not that Uviel was back to herself again.
Let's see... the cybergirl began and looked closely at the ninja in the distance, who only did the same to her. "Kage, do me a favor and don't follow me," mumbled the girl and thanked the heavens that he could hear her regardless of how quiet she speaks.
Of course. I'm happy to see that you're back and the intruder is gone, Tectonic.~ echoed the robot's words into her head and took a sturdy stance, that would take a lot of effort to push him out of if anyone tried.
A faint smirk played at her lips and in a full sprint, she bolted. Where Hatsume stood was where Uviel headed and Edgeshot saw it. This time he raced after her and ignored the metal beast, that stood stock-still like a statue.
Across the land, with his red strings folding out from his quirk, he aimed to try and make her flinch so he could make an opening but alas- he failed. From her peripherals, she saw him so incredibly close to her face, with his quirk inches from her nose and barely reacted during her run.
She did it, she didn't flinch and lose her focus when he faked his attack, which only played more into her favor. The use of her rocket boots made her fly over the sticky substance, but landed directly in it with the handcuffs getting pulled out from behind her shoulder cape; it all happened so fast-
When he caught up to her and tried to use his quirk to enter her body and render her unconscious, handcuffs landed on his outstretched wrist after he became stuck in the contents with her. "How's that? You taught me well, Edgeshot," Again, a smile graced her lips and watched his widened gray eyes narrow to their usual selves, as they looked down at the substance.
"Clever- clever indeed. If you flinched, it would've created an opening for me to render you unconscious and that would've been the end of our match, since, it would've been particularly easy to do the same to Hatsume... I didn't know she was going to put up a trap good enough to snare me. If she had used a net of some sorts, I would've been able to get you when you turned around," explained her idol hero with a respectful bow and lifted his wrist to examine the cuffs. "Whose idea was it, to use something sticky so I couldn't move?" his smooth and calm voice full of curiosity, made the cybergirl avert her attention to the side.
"H- Hatsume thought of the idea. We came up with the plan of keeping you distracted by me controlling Kage, but it turned out I needed to fight alongside him to keep you focused on us, whether than her. It would've ruined our plan... Since you were going to strike her, so..." UV-Ray trailed off and shifted her weight, even though standing in the contents only made it difficult.
"Saitoooo! We did it! He's captured!" The pinky in the distance hurried over to the cybergirl and waved her hand to gain their attention. As soon as she caught up to them, outside of the substance she stood and allowed for her confidence to show when her hands clamped onto her hips. "Nice job luring him in! I think Kage's performance gave me a pass on this exam!" Cheerful, delighted she was, and her laughter was hard to ignore. "You can keep him if you want, I don't care! Think of it as a thank you present for lending me a hand!" A thumbs-up was given to the redhead and a toothy grin.
"T- Thanks!" Grateful Uviel was and the same smile grew on her lips except, it wasn't toothy. "I... Kinda need help, please?" When she blinked and looked down at her feet covered in purple goop, the two of them almost sweatdropped at her delima, if Kamihara didn't point at his shoes too.
Moments later, it showed Hatsume using her jet pack trying to pull the redhead out of the goop. "Come on, they're almost out!" Uviel yelled over the top of the loud sound from her jets and grunted from the force.
Kamihara tried his best to stifle his chuckles, for he hadn't had a good laugh like this in forever. The struggle was real between the girls, so his hand pressed against his masked lips to muffle what chuckles had managed to slip.
Out she popped, making the goop snap back to its spot and for the girls to fly out of view. "AH!" they both squealed and crashed into a nearby tree, close to the towering walls that surrounded the artificial city.
"Sorry," Groaned the pinky as she gradually sat up and watched UV-Ray do the same.
"I- It's fine, it didn't hurt," Uviel was a little shocked that pulling her out of the goop took so long. However, with a thought lingering in her mind, her blue hues bore into yellow ones which seemed to be shining with eagerness. "Hey- About earlier..." feeling a bit awkward was an understatement and she felt, asking Hastume this question was a bit embarrassing. "Did you... See me act weirdly during my fight with him?" her quiet words only made Mei's response boom with amusement.
"Yes! Actually, I knew something like that was going to happen! Principal Nezu warned me before I got here, about the hacker he planned on trying to catch. He was hoping you'd get taken over during this fight, so I grabbed a discharging sphere from my shelf! I thought it'd come in handy and it did!" Both of her arms rose into the air and quickly, she stood up and sprinted a foot away. "Come on, we have to help Edgeshot next!" As soon as she ran away to get back to the pro hero, Uviel raced over to Kage who remained as still as a statue where she left him.
"Thanks, Kage. You can revert back to your sphere form now," her quiet words and appreciative smile were enough to prove that she was relieved. There, she watched him shrink, adjusting his mechanic parts and becoming the size he once was. Her tiny hand petted just above his large, round eye and was about to hop onto his head when...
From behind her, everyone's attention moved to see a large force that busted a hole into the wall and left a giant cloud of dirt to linger in the air.
(Play: Nemesis by Blue Stalhi :DD)
All eyes watched with surprise, Hatsume gasped and Uviel took a step back when she saw a silhouette move in midst of the stirred dust.
Out came a heavy boot out of the cloud, one at a time until the familiar Crocodile Uviel met long before was revealed. Clawed fists clenched to his sides as the large cloak over his frame flew up from his pace and nearly came off when he sprinted after Saito, which she nearly tripped upon seeing.
Kyoshi?! Uviel's eyes lit up with astonishment and watched him jump over debris on his way over. Since she was so close to the wall, he was able to reach her before any of the teachers could stop him from getting to her.
All of the teachers made it outside to catch up to the Crock, but by the time they did, one quick swoop was all it took for Wani to snatch her with one arm and make a sharp turn back towards the gaping hole. "AAH!" The cybergirl's scream made it clear that she was taken by surprise, considering the interval from busting down the wall and leaving with her in his arm.
However, Aizawa raced after him and activated his quirk in hopes of slowing him down. Strangely enough, it didn't seem to faze the Crock at all, since Wani's quirk wasn't even being used. So, Hatsume had to hurry to Edgeshot and help him out of the goop, which was taking a lot longer than she hoped.
"Saito!" Kamihara yelled as he did his best to get free. His gray eyes watched as the other teachers sprinted past his immobile form and sheer concern in his voice made it obvious, that he didn't want anything bad happening to the girl.
When Power Loader made holes in the ground and caused it to cave in, Wani used a lot of his leg strength to shoot himself over the gaps. Through the lingering dirt cloud and the hole he made before, he was gone...with the girl.
(End of song xD)
Everyone was in shock, to know that someone would be dumb enough to bust down the surrounding wall and kidnap a student is astonishing in itself. Because the open clearing just outside of the fake city was so far away, it took a little time for all of the teachers to reach the area; save for a few who already made it. Nobody stopped Kage from giving chase, those assault rifles popped out from his machinery before he flew through the hole after Kyoshi.
~~~
"Saito!" All the students, who stayed to watch Edgeshot's fight with the redhead and the pinky, shrieked in unison upon seeing her being kidnapped. Midoriya, who was healed after his fight against All Might and returned to the viewing room, watched in utter surprise.
No warning was given when Eijiro ran out of the room, still clad in his hero costume, and didn't even listen to when his name was called from the others. "Kirishima! Wait, what are you doing?!" Midoriya couldn't help but reach his hand out in hopes of grasping even the smallest piece of his outfit, but alas, he missed. Quickly, he turned around to face the others and his newfound determination shined brightly in his green hues. "We need to help him! We need to help save Saito! We're aspiring to become heroes, aren't we?!" the boy's anger soon mixed with his determined heart and watched as the others fully faced him, with a nod.
"Yeah! Come on guys, we need to save her!" Ochaco was the first to pump her fist and look to the rest of the group.
"Wani Kyoshi... It's been a long time since I've seen that boy," Recovery girl couldn't help but sigh and stand up from her seat. Everyone's confusion was clear on their faces and not one word came out, except when she continued.
When the old woman fully faced the others, her head lowered to ponder about the Crock who ran off with a student. "Ah, sorry. Wani Kyoshi, I've known him since he was in middle school. The poor lad always somehow came back a bloody mess and would tell me these tales of how he'd beat up thugs that threatened him, but I don't think it was just that. He never told me much about his life, or why he'd get into detention more than the other students. I'm surprised he's doing well, being that built, and as strong as he was in the past. That boy never learns how to stay out of trouble..." disappointment laced her words as she wandered past the students.
"If you know him, then what made him want to kick down the walls?" Curiosity and confusion in his eyes were enough to say that he needed an understanding. When he watched her give him a reassuring smile, a simple blink was all that he gave in return.
"There's no need to worry. He may be a brute and a trouble maker, but he never puts children in danger. That's one thing I learned about him throughout his middle school years, protectiveness of children; whether they're aspiring to be heroes or not," after she explained, she left everyone in the room to ponder about the Crock who busted in.
"I'm going to go see what he plans on doing with her. Are you coming?" Uraraka questioned with just as strong a determination as Izuku's, who returned his attention to her and nodded.
"Yeah," as soon as he confirmed, they both sprinted out of the viewing room and left the others there to question, what sense of danger they had left...
In a familiar dark room full of lit-up screens and cords, stood the shadowed figure whose clenched fists shook from the ever-growing anger inside. It seems that he stayed like that, after the disconnection to Uviel's cybernetics.
On one screen, it showed that he was looking through her eyes and watching the girl be carried in Wani's rough arm, like a sack of potatoes.
"Unbelievable..." through his gritted, sharp teeth and half-black lips, grumbled the odd man with gleaming red eyes locked onto the screen. "How...? How did that happen?! They were going to track me down, but ooh, they would have a better chance at finding a turtle in a river.~ My chance at using Saito to kill a hero, was ruined because of that disconnection! I will find whoever did that...and I will kill them..." ominous, mechanic words dangerously mumbled the last part when only half of his face appeared.
Those cybernetic, red eyes, intimidating and insane, complimented the sharp toothy grin he had that would put a shark to shame. The red tips on his fingers flashed as they wiggled around and navigated on one of the many screens, in search of what disrupted his connection.
Through files, he searched and located a recording of when the large electrical discharge appeared within seconds before his connection failed. Over and over, he replayed the scenes. He even went as far as rewinding to the part where he'd just taken over her and eventually, he paused the recording when he saw Hatsume holding a strange ball in her hand.
The same ball that he saw, for only a couple of seconds, before it sent a blinding flash. His intense, wide, and cybernetic eyes were glued to the pinky for the longest time until... "Hehehehehe... HAHAHAHAHA! A CHILD?! A CHILD DISCONNECTED ME! HAHAHAHA! Well then- I guess it's time to get rid of some obstacles.~" After his huge laugh, through his now closed, gritted teeth bits of psychotic giggles still escaped; a couple of cords from his head moved to attach to a distant USB slot behind him.
